Jason visits Mathew . . .

A visitor arrives in the shop flat;  it is Jason, and Mathew asks him how his break went.

. . . and complains at length about his holiday . . .

Jason replies, “Cold, wet, boring – a seagull stole my sandwich – right out of my hand!   Ifan, of course, thought it was hilarious – I didn’t!

. . . and the seagulls

“I hate seagulls, Mathew – they screamed all day and all night – I haven’t slept at all.   I’m sure they did it on purpose – they’re clever, you know, these seagulls.   Anyway, I’m back now, so there is no need to worry about APD.”

"Eifion has been keeping an eye on the place"

Mathew advises that that Eifion has been keeping an eye on the place,

Jason has a sympathy card

and Jason puts a sympathy card on the table;  “I heard that Izzy had a heart condition.”

"All sorts of things were going through my mind"

Mathew admits that all kinds of things were going through his mind;  he could not get it out of his head that someone she knew had attacked her.

"I accused Eifion of doing something"

“I accused Eifion of doing something – I know it doesn’t make sense – but nothing makes sense.”

"I'll do anything to help, Mathew"

Jason assures him that now he is back, he will do anything to help, for which Mathew is grateful.

"I'm not sating I'm happy about it . . ."

Colin is still looking at the details in the will;  “I’m not saying I’m happy about it,

". . . but if that's what Izzy wanted . . ."

“but if that’s what Izzy wanted . . .” he says, “I just . . . we can still have a proper funeral, can’t we, you know, when the time comes?”

"We'll make sure it's a fitting one"

Gaynor agrees that they can, and will make sure that it is a fitting one;  Colin wants to contact the medical school,

"It seems Lois is doing voluntary work in Tanzania"

and Gaynor remarks that one of Lois’ friends has been in touch;  “It seems that she’s doing some voluntary work in Tanzania, but she was not sure where.”

"We're none the wiser about where she is"

Colin realises that they are still none the wiser as to her whereabouts, but Gaynor has been online and contacted some of the more obvious companies;

"Just leave it to me, Colin"

“Just leave it with me.   We’ll have to let Mathew know about the arrangements – do you want me to do it?”   Colin would appreciate that.

"I'm going to the bakery in Llanarthur"

At Bryntirion, Anita tells Kelly she is going the the bakery in Llanarthur, but Kelly turns down the offer of a custard slice, as she looks anxiously at her phone.   Then Anita enquires about Jason,

"He's left me – perhaps for ever!"

and is told, “He’s left me – perhaps for ever.”   When Anita says that she is sorry, Kelly snarls, “Not as sorry as me!

"We were not expecting this"

Gaynor is speaking to Mathew;  “I know this is . . . well, we were not expecting it, either, but this is what she wanted, so we have to respect that.”

"This is just like Izzy"

Mathew understands, commenting, “This is just like Izzy – doing this to help other people – and not telling anyone.”   Gaynor points out that it does not mean there will be no funeral, but they will have to wait for a year.

"That would suit you, wouldn't it?"

“That would suit you, wouldn’t it?” demands Mathew, “You won’t have to pretend.

"You told Izzy that you loved Lois more than her"

“You told Izzy that you loved Lois more than her.”

Gaynor regrets saying that, and confesses that she may be at fault for not loving her enough;

"Nobody can say I didn't love her at all"

“But nobody can say I didn’t love her at all.”

"Do you have any idea how much you hurt her?"

“Do you have any idea how much you hurt her?” he asks, and she replies that she knows that more that he thinks.

“We’re too alike – perhaps that’s the problem,” Gaynor begins,

"Izzy was nothing like you!"

but Mathew stops her there. maintaining that Izzy was nothing like her mother.   At that, Gaynor turns and leaves.

Whoa - are your shoes clean?"

Jason next calls on Mark, who is busy vacuuming;  “Whoa!   Are your shoes clean?” he demands,

"Kath and Brynmor are back from their cruise tomorrow"

“Kath and Brynmor are home from their cruise tomorrow.”   He wants a price from Jason for some work;

"I want to knock this wall through to next door"

“I want to knock this wall through to next door,” he demonstrates, something which comes as a shock to Jason.

"Have you thought this through, Mark?"

“Have you thought this through?” he wonders,

"A bachelor pad for me"

and Mark envisages creating a bachelor pad for himself.

"You do realise this is a supporting wall?"

“You do realise that is a supporting wall?” Jason goes on, “It will cost a fortune!”

That does not concern Mark in the slightest; “Brynmor will be paying – you can put an RFJ in there,” he says,

"No, it's an RSJ, Mark!"

and is informed that the correct term is RSJ.

"I'll contact Tomos ac Ellis"

Jason will contact Tomos ac Ellis immediately to see if he can get a key to the house, so he can have a look next door.

"Mathew was always going to be difficult to face"

Gaynor meets Hywel by the cash machine;  “I don’t know what I was expecting,” she says, and Hywel replies that Mathew was always going to be difficult to face.

"I'm glad Colin has agreed at last"

Gaynor needed guts to go there, and she is glad that Colin has agreed at last.

Mathew pointedly avoids them

Mathew is approaching and when he sees them, he walks into the road to avoid them;  Hywel can appreciate that his head is all over the place.

"Nobody's ever worried about me"

“But what about me?” she whines, “Nobody’s ever worried about me.

"If it wasn't for you, I would have no-one"

“Sorry, Hywel, if it wasn’t for you, I would have no-one.”   Her phone sounds, and he says that people have been sympathising;  “Not with me,” she snarls and the answers the call.

"Eileen, can I ask you a favour?"

Hywel gets out his phone and simultaneously makes a call to Eileen, asking her for a favour.

"Here's some post addressed to Izzy"

Mathew arrives at the chip shop flat with some post addressed to Izzy;  “I didn’t have the heart to open it – if you want me to cancel anything . . .” Colin tells him to leave everything to them, as they have to wait for the death certificate.

"If I find any more paperwork, I'll pass it on"

If Mathew finds any more paperwork, he will pass it on, adding that Britt already has the file;

"You're very organised"

Colin comments that he is very organised.

"Izzy was the organised one"

“Izzy was organised, not me – you should have seen the way she organised APD’s paperwork.

"I don't know what I'm going to do without her"

“I don’t know what I’m going to do without her.   Gaynor came over earlier to explain Izzy’s wishes.”

"I imagine you were as shocked as I was"

Colin says, “I imagine you were as shocked as I was,”

"It was typical of Izzy"

but Mathew regards it as typical of Izzy;

"I'm glad you and Izzy had the chance to be so happy"

Colin is glad that he and Izzy had the chance to be so happy – it meant great deal to him.   “I hope that, in time, you’ll be able to take strength from that, too.

"Don't be a stranger, all right?"

“Don’t be a stranger, all right?”

Jason returns to Bryntirion

Jason returns to Bryntirion, and is asked by Kelly where he has been;  she offers to make some lunch.

"How long are you going to punish me?"

“How long are you going to punish me?” she demands.   He says he cannot simply carry on as if nothing has happened.

"I've got a speech prepared and everything"

She faces him and says, “I’ve got a speech prepared and everything,” and he is sorry to spoil her moment.

"I don't want to argue with you, Kelly"

He does not want to argue with her, and she pleads, “That’s the last thing I want –

"I know I shouldn't have suspected you"

“just hear me out, please.   I know I shouldn’t have suspected you, but, as you know, I’m hard-wired . . .”

"Don't say that, Kelly"

He tells her not to say that;  “Don’t try to explain – I understand.   Please don’t apologise to me – I should never have said those horrible things I said to you.”

"I should have had more faith in you"

Kelly will not accept this and insists that she should have had more faith in him.

"I haven't ben a nice person, have I?"

He continues, “But I haven’t been a nice person, have I?   You were right to think that something was wrong –

"I haven't been honest with you"

“I haven’t been honest with you.”

Kelly is dreading what is coming next

He sinks down on the sofa;

"I was gambling"

“So, the night I was in the casino, I was gambling.”   Kelly’s heart sinks as he goes on, “I’ve got gambling apps on my phone, too.

"I've contacted my sponsor – it's under control"

“We said we’d always be honest and never keep anything from each other – or lie to each other.   There’s no need to worry – I’ve contacted my sponsor – he knows now – it’s under control.”

"But for how long, Jase?"

Kelly sobs, “But for how long, Jase – how long?”

"Without you I have no hope!"

He cannot answer that, but does know one thing – without Kelly he has no hope,

Jason weeps bitterly

and he breaks down in tears.

"Whatever it takes – you know that!"

“Jason,” she says, “Whatever it takes – you know that!” which comes as a great relief to him.

"Doing anything to celebrate your Mam's return?"

Cassie asks Mark if he is doing anything to celebrate his mother’s return;  “We’ll probably have a couple of cans,” he casually replies, but she maintains that Brynmor will expect more than a couple of cheap cans.   “It will be a change from all the champagne they’re been drinking on the cruise,” he sneers.

"Being stuck on a boat with a load of pensioners!"

“I wouldn’t enjoy being stuck on a boat with a group of pensioners,” grumbles Cassie,

"Didn't you offer to go with Brynmor?"

but Mark seems to remember she offered to go with Brynmor instead of his mother.   “Only because he would have been disappointed!” she snaps and walks away.

Eileen has taken flowers to Gaynor

Eileen has brought some flowers for Gaynor;

"I understand how you feel"

“I wanted you to know that I understand how you feel, and how hard it is – I didn’t want to upset you.”

"How about a glass of wine?"

Gaynor suggests that they could have a glass of wine.

Jason is looking at the laptop

Jason is looking at the laptop

"Mash or roasties?"

when Kelly asks if he wants mash or roasties;

She can see that he is hiding something

he seems reluctant to let her see what he is looking at.

Hywel receives a message from Gaynor

Hywel is in the Deri when he receives a message from Gaynor with a photo of the flowers,

"Flowers from Eileen"

captioned, “Flowers from Eileen.”   He smiles.

"You're not going to believe this!"

As Rhys comes to the bar for another drink, Mark receives a text message;  “You’re not going to believe this!”

"Your mothers fallen in love with the ship's captain"

Cassie imagines that his mother has fallen in love with the ship’s captain.

"They're going on another cruise!"

“No, they’re not coming home at all – they’re going on another cruise!   I’ve spent hours tidying the garden and spent a fortune on flowers!”

Rhys reminds him that he will have the house to himself for a little longer,

He seems quite offended

but that does not seem to placate him.

"Missing his mother – a man his age!"

Cassie tells Rhys that he is simply missing his mother;  “A man of his age – poor thing!”

"Things weren't always easy between you and Angela"

Gaynor wants to ask Eileen a question;  “I know things weren’t always easy between you and Angela.   How did you come to terms with that after she died?”

"I'm not sure I've ever forgiven myself"

Eileen is not sure that she has ever forgiven herself;  “I sometimes think that it would have been easier if she hadn’t found out about me – better for her, I mean.”

"But I have no excuse"

Gaynor appreciates that Eileen did not have the easiest start;  “But I have no excuse.”

"The good times with Angela were great, but . . ."

Eileen adds that the good times with Angela were great – but when they were not, they argued like cat and dog.

"Exactly like Izzy loved you"

“But I know that Angela did love me – exactly like Izzy loved you,” she adds.

"I did . . . I do . . . love her"

Gaynor says bluntly that Izzy hated her;  “I know it’s a terrible thing to say, but it’s true.   I just couldn’t show her how much I loved her – but I did love her – I do.”

Kelly takes a surreptitious look at the laptop . . .

While Jason is out of the way upstairs, Kelly takes the opportunity to open the laptop, which is where he left it,

. . . and the pendant thereupon

at a crescent-shaped pendant, priced at £129.99.

"Did you think I was gambling?"

Then he comes down and catches her;  “Did you think I was gambling?” he demands.

"I'm always going to wonder"

“The thing is, I’m always going to wonder,” she begins,

"This is my responsibility, Kelly"

and he assures her she does not have explain, as this is his responsibility.

Anita is eavesdropping

At that moment, Anita comes silently in through the back door and listens.

“Do you like it?” Jason asks,

"Not really!"

and she is forced to reply with a smile that she does not, describing it as an expensive habit;  “Good job I didn’t order it, then,” he continues, “Do you want me to help you find something you do like?”

"I don't want you spending money on me . . ."

“I don’t want you spending money on me every time you mess up –

". . . I just want – you!"

“I just want – you,” she tells him, as she stands up and moves towards him.

They hug and kiss . . .

They hug and kiss,

. . . while Anita seems pleased with the developments

while Anita, in the kitchen, smiles and starts heading towards the door.

"Where do you want me?"

“Right then, Kelly,” says Jason, “Where do you want me?”

She leave him in no doubt as to her intentions . . .

and she looks upwards in a suggestive fashion.   “I knew you were going to say that!” he adds;

. . . and looks very happy

she looks happier than she has for a long time.

As Anita makes her exit . . .

Anita has a call on her phone;

. . .  she rejects a call from Mickey

when she sees that it is from Mickey, she rejects it.
