![]() |
"Have you considered talking to Sioned?" |

Eileen replies that he is still on trial, then they hear Sioned coming into the farmyard,
![]() |
DJ hurries out with (most of) his washing |
so DJ makes a hurried exit, taking his basket of washing with him.
![]() |
Sioned has been looking at fridges for the café |
Sioned comes in with some prices for fridges; “I think we shall need two,” she says, and then notices on the floor a pair of men’s underpants.
![]() |
"Whose pants are these?" |
“Whose pants are these?” she demands, with obvious distaste; her mother quickly improvises that they are Hywel’s, as the washing machine at Llwyncelyn has broken down.
![]() |
"They're a bit big for Hywel, don't you think?" |
“They’re a bit big for Hywel, don’t you think?” Sioned queries, and Eileen supposes that he likes them ‘roomy’.
![]() |
"Jaclyn didn't have lunch here the other day" |
“I spoke to Jaclyn, and she said that she didn’t come up here to have lunch the other day,” Sioned continues. Eileen’s lies are beginning to catch up with her and she pretends that she simply got the name wrong; she maintains that it was Anita, not Jaclyn.
![]() |
"Have I thrown Sioned off the scent?" |
She hopes that Sioned is not suspicious.
![]() |
Eifion is having a bonfire . . . |
Out on Deri Fawr’s land, Eifion is piling up all sorts of rubbish for a bonfire, including old tyres and plastic bags.
![]() |
. . . and is obviously enjoying it |
He takes out his lighter and sets fire to it.
![]() |
Vicky arrives early |
Vicky arrives at Maes-y-Deri unexpectedly early and explains that she caught the early train;
![]() |
"Where's Nicky, then?" |
Mark is disappointed that she has not brought Nicky with her. “He’s with his father, so it was a chance for me to come and see you,” she says, “The place hasn’t changed.” Mark groans that it is a lot quieter, and suspects that she has arranged this visit because Kath is away.
![]() |
"I thought you'd be pleased" |
“It was a last minute decision – I thought you would be pleased,” she replies, and would like a custard cream with her tea.
![]() |
Siôn and Tesni are on a country stroll . . . |
Siôn, wearing his shorts, and Tesni are out for a walk in the countryside; as she is telling him that she loves living with him, they encounter some foul-smelling smoke which is emitting from Eifion’s bonfire.
![]() |
. . . when they come across the pyromaniac |
Through the smoke they can see him adding another tyre to the conflagration. Siôn shouts to him and he replies, “Do you have any marshmallows?”
![]() |
"What have you got on that fire?" |
Tesni wonders what he has on that fire, and he says there are trees and leaves;
![]() |
"A couple of plastic bottles might have found their way in" |
“A couple of plastic bottles might have found their way in – walkers throw rubbish into the hedges – you’d be amazed, Siôn, it’s a disgrace! There’s no respect for the countryside”
![]() |
They go in search of some fresh air |
By now Tesni is coughing and choking so they move out of range of the smoke.
![]() |
"I'll have to sell everything" |
In the chip shop, Garry tells Britt, “If Dani insists on having half, I’ll have to sell everything.”
![]() |
"Surely it won't come to that, Garry?" |
She is confident it will not come to that, but he wonders how else they are supposed to split everything;
![]() |
"Cut a line down the middle of the counter?" |
“Cut a line down the middle of the counter, is it? I regret agreeing to it now – my money paid for everything.”
![]() |
"I'll go and have a word with her" |
Britt suggests that she will go and see Dani, but he sternly forbids this,
![]() |
"No – things are bad enough already!" |
pointing out that things are bad enough already; “I’m serious – keep out of it –
![]() |
She heads for the jar of pickled eggs |
“and get me a pickled egg!”
![]() |
"I'm looking forward to this surprise!" |
Anita arrives back at Bryntirion; “Hiya, Kel – I’m looking forward to this surprise!” she says, “I don’t know why you’re spoiling me, but it smells lovely.” Her attitude soon changes when she sees Mickey in the kitchen.
![]() |
Then disappointment strikes |
“Special aftershave, especially for you,” he says
![]() |
"What are you doing here?" |
and she demands what he is doing there.
![]() |
"I'm the surprise!" |
“I’m the surprise – Kelly’s made us some food, and it looks lovely.”
![]() |
"I don't want you here!" |
“I don’t want you here – I made that clear!” protests Anita. He says that Kelly told him Anita had changed her mind, and wanted him back – it is obvious that she has set them up. “You’ve had a wasted journey,” Anita insists, but he points out that they are both there and the food is in the oven.
![]() |
"We don't want to hurt her feelings" |
“We don’t want to hurt her feelings after she’s gone to so much trouble,” he goes on.
![]() |
Tesni tries to get rid of the effects of the smoke |
In the Deri, Jaclyn is pleased to see her daughter, but thinks she looks pale; “Are you eating properly?”
![]() |
"It's not the colitis, is it?" |
At the end of the bar, Griffiths is poking his nose in, as Jaclyn continues, “It’s not a colitis flare-up, is it?
![]() |
"You're not looking after yourself" |
“I knew this was going to happen – you’re not looking after yourself.”
Tesni explains that her throat feels really tight;
![]() |
"Eifion is burning rubbish" |
“Thanks to him – he’s been burning rubbish,” she growls, as Eifion walks past, “A few bottles dont create that smell, Eifion, and I know I saw tyres!” This makes Jaclyn quite furious.
Griffiths tells them he will sort the matter out;
![]() |
"As a councillor . . ." |
“As a councillor, I’m disappointed to hear you’re breaking the rules!” Eifion reminds him that he is a councillor for Llanarthur, but is told, “Pollution doesn’t respect boundaries.”
![]() |
"And men in suits don't respect farmers either!" |
“And men in suits don’t respect farmers either!” snarls Eifion, “You can’t sneeze without permission!”
![]() |
"If you don't stop, I'll take it further" |
Griffiths officiously points out that he is not allowed to burn illegal material – it is that simple. If Eifion does not stop, he will take it further.
![]() |
"I don't think you'll get any more trouble from him" |
He tells them, “There we are – I don’t think you’ll get any more trouble from him.”
![]() |
"Red wine, Anita?" |
Mickey is lighting candles on the table, and asks if Anita would like red wine; she refuses. “Listen, you don’t want a relationship – and that’s fine,” he goes on,
![]() |
"There's nothing stopping us being friends" |
“But there’s nothing stopping us being friends, is there? And perhaps in time, you’ll want more. I know you’ve had a hard time with men, but we’re not all the same – you can trust me.”
![]() |
Anita does not look particularly trusting |
It is obvious that she does not trust him, and he asks, “Are you frightened of me?”
![]() |
"I just want you to leave" |
She denies this, but simply wants him to leave. “I don’t want to leave things like this,” he urges her,
![]() |
"Come and sit down, please" |
“Come and sit down, please.”
![]() |
She does so, against her better judgment |
Anita very reluctantly does so
![]() |
"That wasn't difficult, was it?" |
and he pours her a large glass of wine; “That wasn’t so difficult, was it?”
![]() |
"I expect they're getting on like a house on fire" |
In the Deri, Kelly imagines that they are getting on like a house on fire there; “I hope so, Kelly, or Anita will be after your blood,” Jason replies.
![]() |
"I forgot the cheesecake!" |
Kelly is sure that Anita will thank her one day, but then suddenly realises she forgot to take the cheesecake out.
“I was concentrating so much on the main course that it totally slipped my mind!” Jason tells her that it does not matter, but she insists, “I want everything to be perfect, OK?”
![]() |
"I'll take pudding over to them" |
Cassie comes to the rescue, promising that when she finishes her shift in half an hour, she will take pudding over to them.
![]() |
"Not doing it to be nosy, are you?" |
“You’re not doing it to be nosy, are you?” Kelly enquires,
![]() |
"It never entered my head" |
and of course the thought never entered Cassie’s head.
![]() |
"I can feel it in my water" |
“I’ve got a good feeling about tonight – I can feel it in my water,” says Kelly, and Jason encourages her to sit down for five minutes, if that is possible,
![]() |
She looks very pleased with herself |
and to drink her G&T.
![]() |
"It's good to be back" |
Vicky says that it is good to be back, as she drinks from a can, and asks what Mark has been up to; “I hope you’ve been behaving – I have to – I work for a firm of solicitors now.”
![]() |
"You've left your father's office, then?" |
Mark is surprised that she has left her father’s office, and she says that it was a real springboard, but now she wants to be independent;
![]() |
"That's why I'm still single, I suppose" |
“That’s why I’m still single, I suppose.”
![]() |
"Do you speak to Debs?" |
She maintains that she does not speak to Debbie, her mother, as they are both very busy, and asks how Mathew is.
![]() |
"Don't tell me he's with Dani now?" |
“Don’t tell me he’s with Dani now?”
![]() |
"No, Izzy, Gaynor's daughter – and she just died" |
“No, Izzy, Gaynor’s daughter,” Mark replies, and Vicky wonders if this Izzy is a snob like her mother. “Izzy just died – she collapsed when she was running,” he informs her, and she immediately feels sorry for Mathew.
![]() |
"I'm going for a shower" |
She goes upstairs for a shower,
![]() |
Mark does a bit of snooping . . . |
and Mark takes the opportunity to have a look in her case, but unfortunately she returns for her wash bag, and finds him snooping.
![]() |
. . . but is caught in the act |
“What are you doing? Well?” she shouts, and he hands over her wash bag.
![]() |
"Looking for cash or drugs?" |
“What are you looking for – cash, drugs?” she rages, and he says that he is just worried, as she landed there after all these years.
If she is in trouble, he wants to help her, but she insists she is not in trouble – she just wanted to come home, and there is no other reason. “Put some oven chips in while I’m upstairs.”
![]() |
It is obvious to him that she has been in Spain |
“Was it hot out in Spain?” he asks, “Come on, Vick, it’s quite obvious – how’s Debbie? She’s not missing Cwmderi, then?”
![]() |
"Yes, of course she is" |
He is told that of course she is, then Vicky is about to go upstairs,
![]() |
"I'll sort out some towels for you" |
but Mark will sort out some towels for her.
![]() |
Vicky makes a quick phone call |
In his absence, Vicky makes a quick phone call; “Yeah, I’ve only just arrived, Mam! It’s all right for you – you’re not here. He was so excited to see me – I can’t just blurt it out like that –
![]() |
"I'll tell him when the time is right, OK?" |
“I’ll tell him when the time is right, OK?”
![]() |
Sioned has mislaid her fridge price list |
At Penrhewl, Sioned asks Jaclyn if she has seen a piece of paper with fridge prices on it; “I bet Mam’s thrown it away!”
![]() |
"An empty beer can?" |
As she searches through a bag of rubbish, she finds an empty can, and interrogates her mother,
![]() |
"Yes, I fancied a change" |
who maintains that she fancied a change of drink.
![]() |
"Right, you've got a man, haven't you?" |
“Right, you’ve got a man, haven’t you?” Sioned challenges her mother, “Come on, two plates of food, a can of beer and those pants on the floor!”
Jaclyn wonders if she is seeing John again;
![]() |
"I never was, and he's away!" |
the terse answer is, “I never was, and he’s away, anyway!”
![]() |
"He doesn't deserve a second chance!" |
Jaclyn is pleased to hear it, insisting that he does not deserve a second chance, and Sioned, who knows nothing about the incident, enquires what they are talking about.
“We fell out about the solar panels,” Eileen lies,
![]() |
"He was throwing his weight around" |
with Jaclyn adding that he was throwing his weight around; thinking he had the right to have whatever he wanted.
![]() |
"No man deserves a second chance!" |
Sioned’s view of men is rather distorted; “No man deserves a second chance, if you ask me – they’re all as bad as each other!”
![]() |
"Have I put too much pressure on you?" |
Mickey is trying to make sense of the situation; “OK, so perhaps I have put too much pressure on you – is that the problem? I want to know where I went wrong.” Anita replies that it is not him, it is her, but he insists that he must have done something.
![]() |
"I'm not ready for a relationship with anyone" |
“Like I told you, I’m not ready for a relationship with anyone,” Anita says, but he is sure that he has upset her somehow, and urges her to talk to him. “OK – I’m asking you to leave!” she exclaims, “And I want you to respect that!”
![]() |
"What's going on, Anita?" |
He wants to know what is going on, but she simply answers,
![]() |
"Nothing – I just want you to go!" |
“Nothing – I just want you to go, please!”
![]() |
"Do you want me to phone Kelly?" |
Puzzled, he groans, “All right – I’m going – don’t get upset – do you want me to phone Kelly?”
![]() |
"I don't want anything from you! |
“I don’t want anything from you!” Anita shouts, and at that auspicious moment,
![]() |
Dessert is delivered |
Cassie arrives with their dessert, assuring them that she is not staying.
![]() |
"Look after Anita, will you?" |
Mickey asks that she should look after Anita and leaves the house.
Cassie is anxious to find out what he has done to Anita;
![]() |
"He raped Amanda – he's Kelly's father!" |
“Nothing – nothing to me,” is the reply, “He raped Amanda – he’s Kelly’s father!”
![]() |
Cassie is very shocked |
Cassie is astounded to hear this
![]() |
Britt disregards Garry's orders |
Dani is dozing on the sofa when Britt comes in, and asks how Colin is;
![]() |
"Colin's got a lot of grieving to do" |
“He’s got a lot of grieving to do. I don’t know how you do it, honestly – your hair is shining, your skin is lovely.
![]() |
"I looked like a sack of potatoes" |
“I looked like a sack of potatoes when I was pregnant.”
![]() |
"All right – what do you want, Britt?" |
Dani wonders what she wants,
![]() |
"Fairness for Garry" |
and is told, “Fairness for Garry. Come on – you’ve got a new life – he’s got nothing.”
![]() |
Garry does not look happy to see her there |
Garry is standing in the doorway, listening to this. “So why don’t you stay here, for free, and have the salon?”
![]() |
"If I got this place, the salon and number 7 . . ." |
Dani replies, “If I got this place and the salon and number 7, I’d be happy.
![]() |
". . . Garry can have the garage, the Deri and the chippy" |
“Garry can have the garage, the Deri and the chippy.”
![]() |
"Britt, I told you to stay out of this!" |
“I told you to stay out of it!” he angrily tells his sister, and Dani agrees that they sort of understand each other, but now she wants to talk about cash.
![]() |
"You can't sit on your money while I'm forking out" |
“You can’t sit on your money while I’m forking out for the children,” she stipulates,
![]() |
"How about we start with £10,000?" |
“How about we start with £10,000? Bank transfer, as soon as possible. That’s pocket money to someone like you!”
After a moment’s thought, he agrees, “Yep, leave it with me,” and she tells him to see himself out.
![]() |
There is no-one about, so . . . |
He goes downstairs, checks to make sure no-one is around, then makes a phone call.
![]() |
. . . he is going to sell all the garage equipment |
“Pete, this is Garry Monk, Moduron Monk – I’m shifting the garage’s stock and tools – I thought you might like first refusal to buy them – all of it.”
![]() |
"Sit down, DJ" |
Eileen is looking rather concerned when DJ arrives, having been summoned; she invites him to take a seat. He complains about the bed in the caravan,
![]() |
"I'd sleep on concrete for a year . . ." |
but adds, “I’d sleep on concrete for a year if it means getting Sioned back.”
![]() |
"You made a mistake, but you're a good man" |
“That’s why are you willing to help you,” says Eileen, “You made a mistake, but you’re a good man, and I know you love Sioned. I’ll do my best –
![]() |
"Don't get your hopes up" |
“but don’t get your hopes up.”
![]() |
"Thank you, Eileen" |
He is very grateful.
![]() |
The candles are extinguished |
Anita blows out the candles and Cassie is surprised that she has just found out;
![]() |
"He made my skin crawl!" |
“He made my skin crawl, sitting there full of charm, but I thought I’d be able to cope – and I didn’t want him to suspect anything – or Kelly either.”
![]() |
"You should go to the police" |
Cassie assures her that he has gone and advises that Anita should go to the police; “I know it’s hard, but what if he does it again? Amanda might not be the only one. Other women might be frightened of going to the police. I’ll come with you – or I’ll go myself.”
![]() |
"No-one is going to the police, Cassie!" |
Anita is quite adamant that no one is going to the police;
![]() |
"Kelly would never cope!" |
“Because, if Kelly finds out that her mother was raped, she’d never cope!” As the door opens, she begs Cassie not to say another word, and tries to look as if nothing has happened.
![]() |
"Mickey not here?" |
Kelly of course wonders why Mickey is not there;
![]() |
"I want you to leave Mickey alone now" |
“He had to go – I’m not looking for a relationship, all right? And I want you to leave Mickey alone now – no more hassling!”
![]() |
"I think you're making a huge mistake" |
“All right – fine,” says Kelly, “I have tried – and I think you’re making a huge mistake.”
![]() |
Cassie indicates her agreement with that |
Cassie agrees with this,
![]() |
"See – voice of reason" |
and Kelly adds, “See – voice of reason.”
![]() |
"Promise me you won't contact Mickey again!" |
Anita demands very insistently, “Promise me you won’t contact Mickey again!
![]() |
"He belongs in the past" |
“Because we have to leave Mickey in the past – where he belongs.”
![]() |
"All right!" |
Kelly reluctantly agrees to this demand.
