Llio approaches number 7
Llio walks along the street to the door of number 7;
Iolo is not yet dressed
Iolo, still in his dressing gown, is surprised to see her.   “Sorry, I’m a bit early, aren’t I?” she says, and Iolo explains that he is just slow these days.
"I'm starting at the school tomorrow"
“I’m starting at the school tomorrow, so I thought I’d use my last day of freedom to settle in,” she tells him.
She surveys the untidy state of the house
She enters the house to find it in a state of disarray, and says that she knows her way around, so Iolo can relax;  “That boot must be easier than a plaster,” she comments, but he will be glad when he can put some weight on his foot.
"I could do some tidying up, if you like"
She is about to take her bags upstairs, and suggests that she could also do some tidying up.
"You've got your own maid now"
He maintains that he was intending to do that, and she replies, “Don’t worry about it – you’ve got your own maid now!   I know what – I’ll make us a cup of tea and then take the bags upstairs.”
"I'll go to the shop for some milk"
Iolo says that he will have to go to the shop to get some milk,
"Luckily, your maid has done it for you"
but she produces a pint from her bag, remarking, “Luckily, your maid has done it for you.”
Mathew gives Megan a cup of tea
In the shop flat, Megan is visiting Mathew, and he makes her a cup of tea;  she comments that he looks well, considering what has happened.   “I know things haven’t been very easy for you recently – we all have our different ways of coming to terms with things.
"There are a lot of people thinking about you"
To be honest with you, Mathew, there are lots of people around here who are thinking about you.”
"You obviously like the darkness"
Mathew is appreciative of this, and when she mentions that he obviously likes the darkness, as the room is rather gloomy,
"The bulb fused this morning"
he explains that the bulb has fused;
"You make a nice cup of tea"
she compliments him on making a nice cup of tea.
Izzy is trying to persuade her father to help
At Penrhewl, Izzy is speaking to her father on phone, trying to persuade him to do some filming of parents speaking Welsh to their children for Yr Antur’s website, to boost the ‘Million Welsh Speakers’ campaign.
"You're so good with children, Dad"
“Just a couple of hours here and there,” she tells him, as Eileen brings the washing in, “You’re so good with children, Dad – please?” adding that she misses his company.     Evidently he accedes to her request.
She apologises to Eileen, saying that she was under the impression that no one was in;
"You're looking for parents who speak Welsh properly?"
“It’s nice to hear another voice around here,” replies Eileen, “So you’re looking for parents and children who speak Welsh properly?”
"Would you and Huwi be interested?"
Izzy wonders if she and Huwi would be interested in taking part,
"I've never been in front of a camera"
but Eileen pleads that she has never been in front of a camera.
"We want a variety of ages and maturity"
She is assured that they want a variety of ages and maturity, and that she would be perfect.
"I think Jim would be in favour"
Eileen believes that Jim would be in favour of the idea of her and Huwi-John saving the language.   Izzy puts her down for some filming tomorrow.
"She should discuss it with me – not you!"
Up in the Deri flat, Garry is instructing Cassie, “If Gwyneth wants to see Gwern, she should discuss it with me – not you!”
"She probably knows what the answer would be"
Cassie responds that she probably knows what is the answer would be, and as if in confirmation, Garry tosses the visiting order into the bin.
“You can’t do that!” she protests, but he is adamant it belongs in the bin;
"If you hadn't sent Gwern's letter to Gwyneth . . ."
he snarls that if she had not sent Gwern’s letter to Gwyneth, this would not have happened, but she argues that the boy needs to see his mother.
Dani has come into the room as Garry emphasises, “He needs to forget about his mother!”
"You're taking Gwern to school, Garry"
Dani reminds him that he has to take Gwern to school this morning, as she is going to the dentist with Seren.
"I've got a meeting in Carmarthen in 20 minutes!"
He loudly objects, “I’ve got a meeting in Carmarthen in 20 minutes!” but she tells him that is his problem.
Cassie volunteers to take the boy to school,
"Don't fill his head with more daft ideas"
but Garry warns, “It depends if you fill his head with more daft ideas –
"Please, not a word about Gwyneth"
please, not a word about Gwyneth.”
When Gwern comes in, he is told that Cassie is taking him today;  Garry rushes off,
"Are you taking me to see Mam?"
and Gwern asks, “Are you taking me to see Mam?”
Iolo finds that Llio has occupied herself
At number 7, Iolo has now got dressed, and finds Llio sticking pictures into his photo album;  he smiles to see her so engrossed.
"You're a miracle worker – the place is spotless!"
“You’re more of a miracle worker than a maid,” he says, “The place is spotless!”
“If its worth doing, it’s worth doing properly,” she tells him,
"The photos fell out of the album"
and explains that the photos fell out of the album, so she is sticking them back in for him.
"Is this Greta?   When can I meet her?"
Looking at one photo, she asks, “Is this Greta?   Cutie pie!   When can I meet her?”
"She's staying with her father"
Iolo informs her that she is staying with her father, while he has to wear the boot on his foot.
Llio is sure that he must miss her, and he replies, “I don’t miss standing on Lego in the dark – but yes, I do miss her terribly.”   Llio loves children, and now she is here she can help out if he would like.
"Is there anything you can't do?"
“You’re a maid and a childminder – is there anything you can’t do?” he enquires, and she says he is on his own if he wants a button sewn on his shirt.   He asks about her family,
"There's just me and Mam"
and she answers that it is just her and her mother,
She finds a photo of Tyler
then she comes across a photograph of Tyler.
"Who's this hunk, then?"
“Hello – who’s this hunk then?” she demands,
"My ex-husband, father of Greta"
and he points out that it is his ex-husband, the father of Greta.   She is apologetic for raising the subect but he appreciates that she was not to know.   He wonders where the television remote is,
"Bottom shelf, under the stereo"
and she points out that it is on the bottom shelf under the stereo.
"The Lord is near to the brokenhearted"
In the shop flat, Megan is reading from Psalm 34;  “The Lord is near to the brokenhearted and saves the crushed in spirit.”
"Brought the good news with you, then, Megan"
Izzy comes in and sarcastically comments that Megan has brought the good news with her.
"Some people find that verse very comforting"
“Some people find that verse very comforting,” Megan responds, but is told that Izzy would like to spend some time with Mathew.
"I'm sure you have lots of people to visit"
“I’m sure you have lots of people to visit – the good Samaritan that you are!” Izzy continues, and Megan reminds Mathew that they are here for him at any time,
"You're both welcome at Bethania"
and as she leaves, she reminds them that they are both welcome at Bethania at any time.
"Her heart's in the right place"
Izzy laughs that her heart is in the right place;  “As it happens, I have some more light for you – we’re going to make candles!”
"Making candles?"
which Mathew finds rather puzzling.
Megan asks Garry for a coffee
Megan goes to the Deri and asks for a cup of coffee, then, finding that Iolo and Llio are sitting at a table,
"You're the new teacher, then?"
introduces herself;  “You’re the new teacher, stepping into Ffion Llywelyn’s shoes?”
"How did you know?"
Llio wonders how she knew, and Iolo explains that news travels fast in Cwmderi.
“We’re a community that looks after each other – and that’s a good thing,” Megan goes on, “The headteacher was full of praise for you.”   Llio is looking forward to working with her,
"It expresses love for its pupils"
and Megan emphasises that the school is so good academically because it expresses love for its pupils.
"Some teachers more than others!"
Garry is just serving them and comments, “Some teachers more than others, Megan!” for which he is reprimanded by Dani.
"Are you going to tell me what that was all about?"
“Are you going to tell me what that was all about?” Llio enquires.
"Your jokes are getting boring, Garry!"
At the bar, Dani informs Garry that his jokes are getting boring, and not the sort of thing that Iolo wants to hear, not to mention her.
"I'm popping out to post that letter"
“Right, I’m popping out to post that letter,” he announces, “I want to tell her not to contact Gwern – she has no right!”
"Actually, she does have the right, Garry"
Dani maintains that according to the law, Gwyneth does actually have the right;  “And if you’ve put something stupid in that letter, it could go in her favour – just think before sending it, please.   I know it’s difficult that Gwern wants to see her . . .”
"A 10-year-old boy doesn't know what he wants!"
Garry angrily responds that a 10-year-old boy does not know what he wants;  “Yes, she’s his mother – a mother who put his life in danger – he needs to accept that she’s gone – forget about her and move on.
"He's not seeing her and that's the end of it!"
I’m not discussing this any more – he’s not seeing her and that’s the end of it!”
Izzy and Mathew are eating curry
As they eat the curry Izzy has brought, she remarks that it is like Dracula’s Crypt in the room, and he really appreciates her bringing the food;
Mathew is unadventurous when it comes to curries
“I can’t believe I haven’t ordered a Rogan Josh before,” he says.
She advises him to be more adventurous, and not to stick to Korma every time.   When she invites him to try something else,
"DJ tried to get me to eat that as a laugh!"
he objects, “No – DJ always tried to get me to eat that as a laugh!”
Sioned looks disapproving
As they are both giggling, a stony-faced Sioned walks in
"You knew it was my turn to get the food tonight!"
and complains, “You knew it was my turn to get the food tonight!   This will go to waste now!”
"It won't be wasted if you give it to DJ"
Mathew replies that it will not if she gives it to DJ at Penrhewl, as he loves it,
Sioned stalks off again . . .
and she walks out again, looking despondent.
. . . pausing just outside the door
She hesitates at the top of the stairs and listens to Mathew,
"One of the nicest afternoons I've had in a long time"
who tells Izzy, “This is one of the nicest afternoons I’ve had in a long time,” then, with a face like thunder, she leaves.
"Sex Offenders' Register as well!"
In the Deri, after hearing the story, Llio exclaims, “Sex Offenders’ Register as well as everything else!”   Iolo remarks that anyone would think that would be enough to put him off, but the feelings are still there – he thinks.
"How do you move on from something like that?"
“How do you move on from something that was so important to you?”
"I'm so sorry, Iolo"
and when Llio says how sorry she is, he stresses that Tyler is not part of his life any more.
Iolo is becoming suspicious of her
Iolo looks quizzically at her and demands, “What is this, Llio – if that is your real name?   Or are you playing a game?   You waltz into my life, clean my house from top to bottom – you bring me out to dinner – and you promise to help me look after my daughter.”
"I'm only trying to be nice"
She replies that she is only trying to be nice,
"I don't need 'nice' – I just need space"
but he continues, “ I don’t need ‘nice’ – I just need space.”   She is shocked, tells him to forget about it and walks out of the Deri.
Garry is just coming in, and goes upstairs;
"I had a word with Gwern on the way to school"
Cassie informs Dani, “I had a word with Gwern on the way to school.”
"Don't drag me into this, Cassie"
Dani does not want to be dragged into this, but Cassie goes on, “He’s desperate to see his mother – to know that she’s all right.”
"He would never agree to it"
Dani makes it clear that Garry would never agree to it;  “That’s the thing – does he have to know?” is Cassie’s next suggestion,
Cassie warns of 'emotional scars'
“If he doesn’t see his mother, he’ll have emotional scars – and you don’t want that.   You and Garry would have to deal with the consequences.”
Dani repeats that Garry will not agree to it, so Cassie makes the suggestion, “I’ll take him – If you write a letter to excuse him from school on Wednesday, I’ll make the other arrangements.”
"Is that wise?"
Dani doubts the wisdom of this idea, but Cassie insists that it is the best thing for Gwern;  Dani agrees that she will write a letter,
"I'd better not regret it, mind"
but warns that she had better not regret it.
"Eifion would have left them there for days"
Izzy is clearing up the remains of the curry, and Mathew comments that Eifion would have left them there for days.   Izzy lies that she has not heard anything from Eifion, and says that she promised not to contact him.
"I think you should contact him"
“But I think you should,” she adds, “He’s family and he’d want to know.”
"He went to Scotland and didn't tell me"
“He went to Scotland and didn’t tell me, so . . .” he begins,
"It might be easier to talk to him"
but she pleads with him not to be like that, pointing out there are times in life when people need their family, and that it might be easier to talk to him.
“Do you know what was really nice about today?” he asks, “Not making the blinkin’ candles, but the fact you didn’t try to discuss what happened.”
"It's important that I rest"
He will not listen to Izzy, but maintains that it is important that he rests;
"If you don't mind, I'd like some space"
“That’s what the doctors said, so, if you don’t mind, I’d like some space.”
I'm sure she did it out of spite"
At Penrhewl, Sioned is convinced that Izzy is doing it out of spite, as it was her turn to get the food, but Eileen does not believe she would do such a thing, and points out that it is a step forward for Mathew.
"Why did he have to take a 'step forward' with her?"
“But why did he have to take a ‘step forward’ with her?” Sioned grumbles,
"Not jealous, are you?"
and her mother suspects she is jealous.   “She just gets on my nerves!” Sioned snarls.   Eileen emphasises that it is thanks to her that they are enjoying the curry for dinner.
"It's nice for us to have a chat"
Sioned appreciates the opportunity to chat with her mother, who says she is very proud of her;
"You've been a huge support to me since Jim died"
“You’ve been a huge support to me since Jim died – do you think you can do my hair tomorrow?
"Izzy's doing a promo for Yr Antur"
Izzy’s doing a promo for Yr Antur, with Huwi and me in it.”
The name of Izzy immediate gets Sioned's hackles up
Sioned remains silent.
"Everyone says I can be a bit intense"
When Iolo gets back to number 7, Llio is making hot chocolate;  “Everyone says that I can be a bit intense – so I’m sorry,” she tells him,
"I promise to stay out of your way"
“I promise to stay out of your way.   I’m just making hot chocolate, and then I’ll go upstairs.”
"You don't have to do that"
He answers that she does not have to do that, and she stresses that she is not there to take advantage of him;
"I'm just a nice, boring teacher"
“I’m just a nice, boring teacher.”   He regards that as the perfect housemate, and recalls that a lot has happened to him recently;  “I thought I could deal with it – but I obviously can’t, so I’m sorry.   You don’t need to go and hide in your room.”
"Hot chocolate and nice biscuits?"
“Well, I’ve got hot chocolate and nice biscuits – and I was about to start the Fleabag box set – for the fourth time.   Do you fancy it?”
"That sounds perfect"
He describes it as perfect, and is told to sit down.
Sioned gives her mother a manicure
Sioned is giving her mother a manicure when Izzy comes back and informs Eileen that her father will be over for the filming at two tomorrow.
"You're going to make Mam and little Huwi into stars?"
“I hear that you’re going to make Mam and little Huwi into stars,” says Sioned, and Eileen will go to check that Huwi’s best clothes are clean.
"I'm not sure it's a good idea"
Sioned shuts the door, wanting a private word with Izzy;  “I’m not sure it’s a good idea, she says, “Mam’s not very good in front of a camera,” but she is told that it can be edited.
"It was your Mam's idea"
Sioned maintains that her mother is worried about it, but Izzy points out that it was Eileens idea.
"It would be easier if you moved out!"
Then Sioned gets to the point;  “It would be easier if you moved out and left us alone – it’s not long since we lost Jim, and Mam’s going through enough.   Having you here makes things awkward.”
"She said I could stay"
Izzy counters with, “She said I could stay,” but Sioned explains that she is in a difficult position, and is a kind person – it is easy to take advantage of her.
"I'm not taking advantage of her"
Izzy protests that she is not doing that,
"Pick one – or I'll pick one for you!"
but she is handed a list of flats for rent;  “Pick one – or I’ll pick one for you!” growls Sioned,
"I want you out!"
“I want you out!”
