Diane is obviously in a foul mood as she lays the table for dinner; “It smells nice in here, Diane – what are we having to eat?” Dai asks, but receives no reply.

| Siwsi has dressed up |
In the Deri, Cassie remarks as Siwsi comes in, “Ooh, you look pretty.

| "What's the occasion?" |
“What’s the occasion?” She is told that Siwsi has a night off – the first for weeks – and remarks that she has missed ‘Cwmfest’ but she is determined to make the most of her freedom and has organised a date. It is just a guy she has been talking to on the apps.

| Kath comes in |
Kath comes in, speaking on the phone,

| "They're waking Brynmor today" |
and informs them that they are waking Brynmor from the coma today.
 |
| "She's had a very difficult time" |
Cassie explains to Siwsi that Kath has had a very difficult time, poor thing.
 |
| Iolo's OCD is flaring up |
At Y Felin, Iolo is wondering whether he should take his own mugs; “The mugs they have there might be an odd shape and I’m just there to relax – I don’t want to stress thinking about it.”

| "Someone's at the door, Iolo" |
As he looks at the laptop, Indeg remarks that someone is at the door, but makes no attempt to answer it, so Iolo has to do so.

| "My suitcase is falling apart" |
It is Dani, asking whether he has a suitcase she can borrow, as hers is falling apart. He is about to go upstairs to have a look.

| "Food, clothes, games, drugs" |
Meanwhile, she looks at his laptop, where he explains that he has a number of spreadsheets; “Food, clothes, games, drugs.”
Dani wonders what sort of holiday he thinks they are having. He points out that they are medicinal.

| "Come on – chill, Iolo" |
Dani urges him to chill; “We’re going to a holiday village for one night – not six months in the Andes!
 |
| "I just hope I haven't forgotten anything" |
“I just throw things in a suitcase and hope I haven’t forgotten anything.”

| "That's crazy" |
Iolo regards that as crazy, adding that he has been working on the spreadsheet since she invited him. “You’re looking forward to a break, aren’t you?” she asks.
He replies that this is because people are still going on and on about Dai’s speech – because someone put the whole thing online!”

| "I only showed the world what happened" |
This aimed at Indeg, who maintains that she only showed the world what happened. Iolo accuses her of making things worse.

| "Dai's going to make an apology" |
Dani enquires whether Dai has been in touch and is told that he is going to be making a public apology in the Deri today.

This comes as news to Indeg and she hurries off,

| Siwsi is disappointed |
Siwsi has a great disappointment;

| "My date has cancelled!" |
“My date has cancelled – he’s asking if I’m available tomorrow night. No! I picked tonight because it’s the only night I have off – I can’t believe I’ve wasted it on that waster!”

| "You can have a gin on the house" |
Cassie will give her a gin on the house.

| Kelly is to be the interviewer |
Preparations are being made for this ‘apology’, with Hywel stressing to Kelly that they need a fair portrayal. “Yes, I know – stop a PR disaster for the rugby club.” Hywel reminds her that he is paying £250 to do this.

| Diane reminds him what he has to say |
At that moment Dai and Diane come in through the door, with Dai receiving instructions, “Remember now, ‘I know I’ve offended people and I’m committed to doing better in future.’”
“I know – I’m not gaga – yet!” he snarls.

| The recorder is turned on |
A phone has been set up on a tripod to record this event and Dai is invited to sit down.

| "Let's get this over with!" |
“Let’s get this over with!” moans Dai. As he is welcomed by Kelly,

| "I'd like to tell the LPG . . ." |
he wants to make it clear, “I’d like to tell the LPG – LBGT . . . well, I’d like to tell Iolo, too . . . if the words you heard the other day had an effect on you, I’m sorry. It wasn't my intention to . . . offend anyone.

| "Gays, vegetarians, Jehovahs" |
“I’m Dai Sgaffalde and I respect everyone, no matter who you are – gays, vegetarians, Jehovahs – every man-jack.”
Indeg is carefully recording all this on her phone as he continues, “Everyone is welcome through the doors of Cwmderi RFC.”

Of course, Indeg has to interrupt, “Do you still think gay people’s sex lives are something to joke about?” She is reprimanded by Hywel,

she invites Dai to answer the question.

“Yeah, well . . .” he begins.

| Kath looks at the boarding passes |
In the Deri flat, Kath is looking at the two boarding passes when Cassie walks in, so she quickly hides them under a copy of the Western Post.

| "It's good news about Brynmor" |
“It’s good news about Brynmor,” says Cassie, “I know you’re supposed to work tonight, but I’m happy to do your shift if you want to go to the hospital.”

| Kath says nothing |
Kath remains silent,

| "Are you going to tell me why's going on?" |
so Cassie continues, “Are you going to tell me what’s going on?”

| "He's lying to me again" |
 |
| "Why not give him the chance to explain?" |
Cassie suggests that she should give him a chance to explain and see how she feels after he wakes up.

Kath considers that she may be right; “I should be there when he wakes up –

| "I can't listen to Dai any more" |
Siwsi has gone to Ceffyl Du instead, where she tells Rhys, “I can’t listen to Dai any more! Double gin, please.”

| "I heard you've got a date tonight`' |
Rhys had heard that she had a date tonight, or at least that is what Indeg told Ieuan; “And Ieuan told Kelly and Kelly told me.” Siwsi did not know that her love life was so interesting, revealing that he cancelled at the last minute.

| "Would you cancel at the last minute?" |
“Would you cancel at the last minute after organising a date?” she asks;

| "Well, perhaps" |
he agrees that perhaps he might and she imagines that he was a real ‘player’ on the apps – she saw him.

| "You can have this on the house" |
To make up for her disappointment, he gives her the gin on the house and she announces that this is her second free drink tonight –

| "You're taking it too literally!" |
In the Deri, Dai is continuing, “You’re taking it too literally!”

| Why does no-one tell her to 'butt out'? |
Once more, Indeg interrupts proceedings; “Do you think it’s OK to make fun of someone’s sexuality? Yes or no?”

| "Inclusivity and diversity?" |
This is ignored as Kelly asks the next question, “Would you like to see inclusivity and diversity?”

| "Homophobe!" |
Indeg interrupts again with what appears to be her favourite word, “Homophobe!”

| "I recruited Iolo in the first place!" |
Dai explodes, “How can I be a homophobe? I recruited Iolo to play for the team in the first place.

| "Someone like him in the team" |
“Some weren’t happy to have someone like him in the team.”
"Someone like him?"
Again Indeg sticks her oar in; “Someone like him?” but Hywel insists that was years ago.

| "I have nothing against lesbians either" |
Dai goes on, “I have nothing against lesbians either; “Sioned, my grandchildren’s mother, was a lesbian for a while!”

| "Do you deny it was homophobic?" |
Indeg wants to know whether he denies that what he said is homophobic.

| "That's exactly what I'm saying" |
He agrees, “That’s exactly what I’m saying.”
“So why have you just made a public apology, then?” she demands.

“Do you know what? Because young people like you have lost their sense of humour,” is Dai’s retort.

In an effort at damage limitation, Diane intervenes to explain, “What Dai’s trying to say is . . .”

| "Oh, shut your chops, woman! Sit down!" |
Dai angrily silences her with, “Oh, shut your chops, woman! Sit down! I’m fed up with people telling me what I’m supposed to think! Do you know what? I’m not sorry at all. I’m not going to apologise!”

| Hywel thinks they had better stop there |
Hywel thinks that they had better call a halt to the proceedings there, but Indeg appears delighted at the content she has captured on video.

At Y Felin, Dani and Iolo are looking at the said video and Iolo is becoming more and more disgusted.

| "I can't watch any more of this!" |
“I can’t watch any more of this!” He exclaims. Dani wishes that she had kept quiet about it.

| "I can't believe Indeg is still stirring things!" |
“I can’t believe Indeg is still stirring things!” Iolo growls, so Dani snatches the phone and tells him to forget all about it.

| "We're going on holiday!" |
“We’re going on holiday and we’re going to enjoy it, OK?” she insists.
 |
| Diane has made a cup of tea |
Back home at Bryntirion, Diane has made herself a cup of tea;

| "Are you going to make me die of thirst?" |
“Don’t I get a cup, then?” Dai asks, “Is this your plan now? To make me die of thirst so that I don’t bring any more shame on you?”

| "You had one job to do" |
“You had one job to do – to apologise properly, then we could have all moved forward,” she snarls.

| "You insisted I say things I don't believe!" |
“You and Hywel insisted that I say things I don’t believe!” complains Dai, but she reminds him that they were trying to sort this out for his sake. “Well, that hasn’t worked, has it?” he sneers.
As he looks at the laptop, he points out that a few people are agreeing with him.

Diane shows him that something similar is happening to the comments under Indeg’s latest video, including, ‘Well done, Dai. Those gays belong in jail, every one of them.

“Go, Dai – every woke idiot needs to be shot!’

| "When he tells his stupid wife to shut up!" |
She adds, “And my personal favourite – ‘The best part is when he tells his stupid wife to shut up! Common sense at last.’”

He insists that he does not agree with those cranks,

| "You're giving them fuel!" |
but she angrily stresses that he is giving them fuel, “Which makes lives of people like Iolo worse – but you don’t care about that, do you?”

| Dai ponders on her words |
It appears that this has given Dai something to think about.

| Kath is at the hospital |
Kath is at the hospital and goes into the room where she can see that Brynmor is awake;

| She shakes her head |
she shakes her head as she looks at him. Then he turns and realises that she is there.
 |
| "Kath" |
“Kath,” he says with great difficulty,
 |
| He reaches out his hand . . . |
reaching out a hand towards her.

After a moment’s thought, she takes his hand

| . . . and she sits at his bedside |
and sits down beside him.

| "Dai tried to make some kind of apology" |
Hywel goes to Y Felin and explains that Dai has tried to make some kind of public apology in an interview with Kelly. “Yes, we saw it,” says Dani, with Iolo adding that Indeg has posted another video online.

“Of course she did!” snarls Hywel, “Can you ask her to take it down?

| "I don't want any more bad press" |
“I don’t want any more bad press for the rugby club.”

| "I can't even get her to put the milk back in the fridge!" |
Iolo angrily tells him to ask her; “You’re her uncle – I can’t even get her to put the milk back in the fridge!”

Hywel proposes that if Iolo was to agree to meet Dai, but Dani pipes up, “He doesn’t want to, Hywel. We’re going away anyway – Tan y Garreg – remember?”

“I know how you feel,” Hywel commiserates, “I’ve been so busy organising ‘Cwmfest’, I haven’t taken Esther away.

| "Summer is difficult" |
Dani agrees that summer is difficult. Hywel enquires who is going on this trip and is told that it is two of them plus Greta and Gabriel. So there are spare rooms, then?” asks Hywel,

“Listen, if you’ve got space, Esther would love to go away – and me, for that matter. I could do with a break after all that nonsense with Dai.

“I don’t want to put you in an awkward situation, sorry, but all Esther’s friends are going away with their families

| He tries to 'guilt-trip' Dani . . . |
“and I feel so guilty, as a single father. Iolo, I’m truly sorry about this business with Dai.”

| . . . who eventually succumbs |
As he turns to leave the house, Dani succumbs to his entreaties; “OK, come on – why not?”

| "You must bring the wine" |
Iolo is adamant that Hywel should bring the wine, and he says that Esther will be delighted.
Dani and Iolo look at each other

| "Sorry, Iolo" |
and she says that she is sorry.
 |
| "How did it go?" |
Kath is back at the Deri and appears to be deep in thought; Cassie asks how it went.

| "He recognised me straightaway" |
“Well, he’s got some colour – he recognised me straight away – how did it go here?”
 |
| Cassie is in a miserable mood |
“Miserable – Dai refused to let anyone get in the mood to get drunk,” is Cassie’s evaluation, then she ask what happened about those air tickets.

| "We'll discuss that when he gets home" |
“We’ll get a chance to discuss that when he gets home,” is Kath’s answer, “You think I’m a fool, don’t you, Cassie?”

| "An honest fool, perhaps" |
“An honest fool, perhaps – only you know how you feel about the man.”
 |
| "I just want to look after him" |
All that Kath wants to do is to bring him back there and look after him – a long way from Eleri – just the two of them, back to basics.

| "You didn't have to come, Dai" |
Now Dai arrives at Y Felin, although Iolo had said that it was not necessary.

| "I've come to settle things between you and me" |
“Listen, Iolo, mate, I’m not here because of Hywel Llywelyn or anyone else. I’ve come to settle things between you and me, right? I tried to make a public apology in the Deri earlier – and that didn’t go to plan, I can tell you.”

| "Im concerned it might affect Greta" |
Iolo explains that he is just concerned that it could involve Greta. Dai continues, “It might be my age, it might be my generation – it might be because I’m an idiot,

| "What I said was wrong and I apologise" |
“but what I said the other day was wrong and I apologise. To make things worse, I insisted that I was right – and I wasn’t. I am sorry.”

| "Indeg, will you come down?" |
Iolo calls upstairs for Indeg to come down;

 |
| "Will you take a photo of us shaking hands?" |
“Will you take a photo of Dai and me shaking hands, please?” asks Iolo,

| "And I want you to delete those videos!" |
“I want you to delete those videos – the comments are like a sewer!”
Naturally, Indeg argues, “Are you happy that he’s getting away with . . ?”

| "You're the one making my life difficult!" |
Iolo is insistent that Dai has apologised and that is the end of the matter; “You’re the only one making my life difficult now, not Dai.”

| They shake hands . . . |
He shakes Dai warmly by the hand and accepts his apology,
 |
| . . . but a hug is too much for Indeg to stomach |
then they go so far as to hug each other, but this is too much for Indeg, so she returns upstairs.

| Cassie proposes 'Speed Dating' |
In Ceffyl Du, Cassie is explaining to Siwsi there is no need to bother with these dating apps; “It’s an opportunity to meet lots of people in a short space of time – and if you don’t like them, it’s only six minutes together.

“Here and in the Deri, or we’ll all be on top of each other.”
 |
| It sounds good to Siwsi . . . |
Siwsi is enthusiastic, but Rhys has reservations,

maintaining that speed dating is rather tacky, but is threatened with a hiding from Cassie, so he uses the term ‘old-fashioned’ instead.

He agrees to the idea, but warns Siwsi that she had better find someone really special, as she does not want to leave empty-handed.

| "I've apologised to Iolo" |
Dai returns home in triumphant mood, which cannot be said for Diane; he explains that he has apologised to Iolo and that clown Indeg has taken down the video, so it is over.

| "I knew that was the best way forward" |
“I knew that was the best way forward – to apologise face-to-face, rather than a palaver like a public apology in the Deri. Haven’t you got anything to say? Like ‘Well done, Dai – that must have been very difficult for you’?”

| "What do you expect me to do, Diane?" |
She remains silent, so he continues, “What do you expect me to do, Diane? Get down on my knees or what?”

| She finally gets up |

| "Shut your chops, woman – in front of everyone!" |
“Do you think you deserve a medal for saying, ‘Shut your chops, woman’, in front of everyone in the Deri earlier? If you’d listened to me in the first place, none of this would have happened – but no, you always know best!”

| "You might as well send me to live in Brynawelon!" |
Dai protests, “Well, if you didn’t treat me like an old codger all the time, perhaps I would listen to you – goodness me, you might as well send me to live in Brynawelon!”

She appears to be considering that idea; “Yes, you might be right – perhaps some time in Brynawelon would do some good – for both of us.”

| "Is that what you want to happen?" |
He asks, “Is that what you want to happen?”

| "I'm tired" |
She replies that she is tired.
 |
| "I'll go and pack my bags, then!" |
“Right, I’ll go and pack my bags, then – you obviously can’t bear to have me here any more.”

He storms off upstairs, while Diane stands there, expressionless.
