Dani leaves a note for Garry

In the Deri flat, Garry finds a note from Dani, informing him that she has gone to the park;  with his phone in his hand he walks across the room,

He looks at a photo of the two of them

then looks at a photograph of himself and Dani.

"Tyler needs a break from us"

At Maes-y-Deri, Mark wants to know where Tyler is, but his mother maintains that Tyler needs a break from them;  “He’s had enough of looking at your ugly mug!”

Mark wants him to distribute flyers

Mark protests that he is trying to make a go of the window cleaning business;  “Tyler needs to go out to look for work – we need it now you’re not bringing any money in.”

Kath angrily reminds him that she has to stay at home to look after him;

"Do you want me to go out and bring that Coronavirus back?"

“Do you want me to go out there and bring that coronavirus back here?” she demands.   He replies that if he can go back to work, he is sure that she can as well.   She insists that it is too soon for both of them to go out, as they do not want to risk it,

"Life has to go on, Mam"

but he tells her, “Life has to go on, Mam – we just need to be careful.”

"Has he got company upstairs?"

Kath wonders if Tyler has company upstairs;  “He was out late last night – on a date.”   Mark hopes that he is not up to his antics again, and at that moment he comes downstairs,

"There's no-one up there, Kath"

and assures them that he does not have anyone up there.

Kath enquires if his date went well,

"I really like him"

and he answers, “Yeah, good – I really like him, but we don’t want to rush into things.”

"We don't want different men coming back here"

Mark makes it quite clear that he will not be happy if Tyler brings different men there every night, with this Covid still around.

Tyler confirms that he will be the only man coming to the house,

"Ooh – this sounds serious"

and Kath decides that it is sounding serious.   When Mark suggests that they go out to distribute flyers, Tyler gives the excuse that his friend from last night wants to come over for brunch.

"I'm going to make smoked salmon bagels"

“I’m going to make smoked salmon bagels,” Tyler says, and Kath remarks that he must be posh, but is told, “He made fun of me because I live on omelettes, so I said I’d cook him something special.”

Kath deduces that he wants her and Mark out of the way at lunchtime, so they have some space to talk;

"Come on, Mark – we're going out"

she understands perfectly and instructs Mark to go with her, which he is reluctant to do.

Britt is window-cleaning . . .

Britt is busily cleaning the chip shop windows when Colin approaches,

"Why throw money at Mark and Tyler?"

just finishing some fast food item;  “Why throw money at Mark and Tyler when you can do a better job yourself, and for free?” he says.

"Was that a vegetarian bap, Colin?"

She wants to know whether it was a vegetarian bap, and when he agrees that it was, warns him, “Don’t lie, Colin Evans!

"I can smell the pork from here!"

“Do you think I’m stupid?   I can smell the pork from here.   You wouldn’t lie to your new wife, would you?”   He confesses that it was meat, and that he cannot do this –

"My body needs protein, Britt"

he almost fainted earlier – his body needs protein.

She recommends that he should eat more eggs, like she does, and he was hoping they were only vegetarians during lockdown.   “I promised Aaron that we’d carry on with it, but don’t worry, I won’t tell him about your little slip-up,” Britt assures him,

Colin is not getting much sympathy

“Now, are you going to help me with these windows?”

While doing the dusting . . .

At number 10, Jaclyn is doing the dusting

. . . Jaclyn looks at a photo of the family

and looks at a picture of the family;  there is a knock the door, and Dylan is admitted.

The cinnamon latté does not improve her mood

He has brought her a cinnamon latté, but she demands, “I’ve been expecting you for days –

"Where have you been?   Dealing drugs?"

“where have you been?   Dealing drugs?”

He does not answer the question but asks how Gerwyn is;

"It's time I had a catch-up with Gerwyn"

“I haven’t seen him for ages – it’s time we had a catch-up – don’t you think so, Jacs?”   She thanks him for not telling Gerwyn and the children;

"Not unless I have to!"

he maintains that he loves her and does not want to hurt her – “Not unless I have to!”

She asks what he wants, and he immediately replies, “I want you to persuade Garry to give me £10,000 today, please.”

"I can't do that, Dyl"

She tells him she is unable to do that.   He is aware that things have not been great between them lately, and admits that it is his fault;

"You need my help – and I need yours"

“But you need my help – and I am here needing your help.”

She points out that Garry said no last week, and wonders why he would change his mind for her.   “You have more of a hold over Garry Monk, don’t you, Jacs?” he snarls,

"We've finished!"

but she informs him that they have finished, which comes as rather a surprise to him.

“Right, while I’m glad you’ve realised how much of a pig he is, I need you to change your mind,” he instructs her,

"Tell him your dirty little affair is back on!"

“I need you to go to the garage and tell that idiot that your dirty little affair is back on the cards!”

"It's Gerwyn I want"

She says that she has made her decision and that it is Gerwyn that she wants.

"And I want £10,000!"

“And I want £10,000!” he rages, “So just go over there and do whatever it takes.”   She flatly refuses, advising him that if he wants any kind of relationship with her, he is to leave her out of it.

"You want us to get on, don't you?"

“That’s what you want, isn’t it – for us to get on?” she adds, and he angrily picks up the two cups of coffee, and storms out of the house,

She judges that a good performance

leaving Jaclyn smiling.

"How are Mr and Mrs Evans getting on?"

As she passes on the other side of the road, Dani asks how Mr and Mrs Evans are getting up,

"Where's Teddy?"

and they reply that they are very happy;  Colin  wonders where Teddy, the dog, is;  Dani answers, “In the doggy parlour – they’ve reopened, so he’s having a trim.   I’m not telling you how much it costs –

"Garry doesn't know – so shush!"

“and Garry doesn’t know either – so shush!”

“Perhaps you should cut dogs’ hair instead of people’s hair,” Colin suggests, and she agrees that they complain less, as she goes on her way.

"Seaweed and Adzuki bean pasty for lunch"

Aaron appears round the corner to announce, “Seaweed and adzuki bean pasty for lunch.”   Britt tells him that it would be lovely,

Colin dreads the thought

but Colin is dreading the prospect.   Britt tells him that some people are starving in this world,” and he groans that he is one of them.

Tyler's date has arrived . . .

At Maes-y-Deri, Tyler is preparing brunch when there is a knock at the door;  he goes to answer it, and we discover the identity of his new date –

. . . it is that Aled again

none other than Aled, the reason he is on the Sex Offenders’ Register

"Actually it's Colin's idea"

In the Deri, as Garry is cleaning the bar, Dani begins, “I’ve been thinking about the salon.“Actually, it’s Colin’s idea, but it’s a genius idea.”

Garry is still industriously cleaning and apparently taking no notice of her,

"It's a little bit radical"

so she stresses, “Have an open mind now, OK, because it’s a little bit radical.   Half of the building is a salon, and the other half is a Doggy Parlour.

"There's loads of money to be made"

Before you say anything, there’s loads of money to be made.   We could call it something like ‘Mynd y Coed’ [Going to the Woods] – you know the song, ‘Dau gi bach yn mynd i’r coed’.”   [Two little puppies going to the woods]

He confirms that he does know how the song goes, and she elaborates, “The equipment will cost a bit to start with, but we’ll make the money back in a couple of months.   What do you say?”

"Well, if people are foolish enough to pay"

Expecting some objections, she is astonished when he answers, “Well, if people are foolish enough to pay the same to shave their dogs as they do their hair – brilliant!”

"Are you feeling OK, Garry?"

She is taken aback and asks if he is feeling OK;  he wonders if there was anything else, and she goes on, “One more thing – I think we should start the building work straightaway, but the last time I spoke to Dai, you got rather angry with me.”

"This will be your project, OK?"

He calmly replies, “Phone APD now – you can get straight to work on the planning then.   But this will be your project, OK?”   He puts on his jacket and informs her that he is going to see one of the garage’s contacts.   She can hardly believe that it was so easy.

He heads in the direction of the garage . . .

Garry leaves the Deri

. . . as does Jaclyn . . .

as Jaclyn comes round the corner by the medical centre;

. . . and they are under surveillance

what neither of them realise as they head towards the garage is that Dylan is watching from along the High Street.

"You'll have to come over more often"

“Well, you can come over more often if you insist on doing the dishes,” says Tyler, but Aled considers it only fair, as Tyler made the food.

"You were worried they'd recognise me"

He wonders where Kath and Mark are;  “You were worried that they would recognise me,” Aled surmises,

"I just wanted us to have the place to ourselves"

but Tyler replies that he just wanted them to have the place to themselves, because they are still getting to know each other.

"I'm gutted we're not meeting for the first time now"

“I’m gutted that we’re not meeting for the first time now – that would make things easier.”

"We know the worst things about each other"

Tyler points out that they know the worst things about each other, and still want to spend time together.

“Do you know the worst thing about you?” Aled comments,

"You were stingy with the cream cheese"

“Your cooking – it needed loads more salt and you were stingy with the cream cheese.”   In that case, Tyler decides that he can cook next time, and is quickly asked, “What about tonight?   Sorry, I’m being too keen.”

Mark returns home

The front door opens and Mark returns;  he is introduced to Aled,

"It's upstairs on the right"

who immediately makes himself scarce, going to the toilet.

"Isn't that the school pupil?"

“Isn’t that the school pupil?” Mark demands,

"We're not doing anything wrong"

and is told that they are not doing anything wrong.

“Other people won’t see it that way,” Mark advises,

"You're not thinking straight"

“You’re not thinking straight – why else would you see the guy who put you on the Sex Offenders’ List.   I’m glad you understand each other, but it makes no sense to me – and I’m worried that the rest of the village will agree.

"Do you really want to be part of another scandal?"

“Do you really want to be part of another scandal?”

Seaweed does not seem to agree with Colin

Colin is feeling the unwanted after-effects of eating the seaweed,

"It tasted good"

although Britt is insisting that it tasted good;  he groans, “It was awful . . . awfully good!”

"I know you didn't enjoy it"

When Aaron goes out of the room, Colin snarls, “I know you didn’t enjoy it,”

"I could easily have eaten another one"

but she says that she could easily have eaten another one.

Aaron is now ready for a game of football, and urges Colin to come with him.

What is secreted in Britt's bag?

As soon as she is sure they have left, Britt goes to her bag to find something.

"He's not happy about me, is he?"

“He’s not happy about me, is he?” demands Aled,

"He's worried what people will say"

but Tyler explains Mark is just worried about what people will say, but Aled should not worry about him.

Mark is forced to eat crisps

Mark complains that there are no bagels left, and Aled thinks that he had better go.

"He's going because of you"

As Tyler goes to the door he tells Mark, “He’s going because of you.”

We seem to have missed the action once again

In the garage, we have just missed the action, as once again Garry and Jaclyn are getting dressed;  she says that Gerwyn and the kids will want their dinner.

"It's very sexy"

He considers it very sexy, her telling him to do,

They have rather a shock . . .

but as they open the door, they find Dylan sitting on a pile of tyres outside,

. . . which they do not appreciate

which Jaclyn finds rather disturbing.

Britt is suddenly awakened

When Aaron and Colin return from their football, Britt is dozing on the sofa;  she jumps up and says she was not expecting them back yet.

Colin finds the sausage wrapper evidence

“No, obviously not!” exchaims Colin, brandishing an empty packet of Richmond sausages, “I thought you were serious about being a veggie.”

"He had a sausage bap this morning!"

Aaron is extremely disappointed, as Britt puts the blame on Colin;  “When I saw him eating a sausage bap this morning, I got the worst cravings and I couldn’t help myself.”

"You've been eating meat too?"

Aaron is furious that Colin has been eating meat, too, but it is pointed out that it was only a small sausage bap.   “Look, I still believe strongly that we should all trying to live in a sustainable way – 100% –

"I'm not a robot, am I?"

but I’m not a robot, am I?   I can’t change my tastes.”   Britt agrees that neither can she.

"Right, if you two want to eat dead animals . . ."

Aaron shouts, “If you two want to eat dead animals, that’s your choice – but I’m not going to, OK?”

Colin is looking happier

He flounces off to his room,

"Sausages – good girl!"

and Colin opens the oven door to reveal the sausages, just about ready to eat.

Tyler looks at his phone

Tyler looks at his phone and smiles;

"Have you told Iolo about him yet?"

Mark puts down the Western Post and enquires, “Have you told Iolo about him yet?   Don’t you think you should?”

"I will do when the time is right"

Tyler replies that he will do when the time is right.

"There's no way back with Iolo"

“Listen, you do know there’s no way back with Iolo if you start seeing him?” Mark continues, but Tyler is confident that he and Iolo will never get back together, as too much has happened.

Mark predicts that this will really hurt Iolo, which is something Tyler cannot help;

"I don't care what Iol or anyone else says"

“The truth is, I don’t care what Iol or the rest of the village says, because I like Aled.”

Mark comments that Aled must like him too, taking the risk of coming to the house to see him;

"It might be an idea not to tell Mam"

“I’m sure he knew there wouldn’t be much of a welcome for him.   It might be an idea not to tell Mam who he is for now.”

Tyler does not want to hide their relationship, and in any case Kath might recognise Aled;  Mark explains that his mother is not good with faces.   “Let her get to know and like him first, and then tell her the truth.”

"Talking about me again, are you?"

At this point Kath returns;  “Oh yes, talking about me again, are you?” she says,

She has bought some cans

producing four cans from the shop.

"£10,000, Garry"

In the garage, Dylan is talking tough;  “£10,000 Garry, and I won’t tell anyone I caught you with your trousers down.”

"I don't care if you tell the whole village"

Garry repeats what he told Dylan last week – that he does not care if Dylan stood on a box and it told the whole village.

“But you care, don’t you, Jaclyn?” Dylan goes on, and blames her for going behind his back with Garry.   “You said it was over!” he screams.

"Not jealous, are you?"

Garry is of the opinion that Dylan is jealous;

"Do you fancy your sister or what?"

“Do you fancy your sister or what?   He’s obsessed with you, Jac.   Don’t be scared of him – let him tell the truth – it will come out anyway.”

"Who knows what Daf will do next?"

Dylan reminds them that there is one other thing to think about;  “If Daf doesn’t get the cash, who knows what he will do next?   He won’t come after me – he wants to hurt the people closest to me.”

"Do you want them put in danger?"

He points at his sister, as he asks whether Garry wants the children put in danger.

"I'll make sure nothing happens to anyone"

Garry again assures Jaclyn, “I’ll make sure nothing happens to anyone,” but Dylan insists that he will not be able to do anything.   “You can trust me,” adds Garry, “Honest.”

"If you've got the cash, Garry"

Jaclyn speaks;  “If you’ve got the cash, I’d really appreciate it,”

"He's blackmailing me"

but Garry points out that he is being blackmailed.

Dylan summarises that it is up to him, asking, “Is she worth £10,000?”

Garry does not say a further word

Garry remains silent.
