"You?"

Colin looks aghast at her, and demands, “You?”   She sobs that she does not expect him to understand and that she hates herself.   He takes out his phone and dials a number;

"I'm phoning DI Wilkinson!"

“I’m phoning DI Wilkinson,” he says, and Gaynor urges him to listen to her.

"There's nothing to explain – you killed Izzy!"

“There’s nothing to explain,”he snarls, “You killed Izzy!”

"The coroner said she had a heart defect"

“No – she had a heart defect – that’s what the coroner said,” she explains, and Coliin is incredulous.   “And I have the same thing,” Gaynor continues, “She must have inherited it from me!”

A batch of jam is being prepared

Eileen is stirring jam in the kitchen at Penrhewl when Eifion comes in;

"Your message sounded important"

“I got your message – it sounded important,” he grumbles, and she tells him that he has been careless;

Eileen complains about weeds from Deri Fawr

all the weeds from his fields have been coming over to Penrhewl.   He maintains that he has other things on his mind at the moment – like Izzy, and Eileen apologises to him.

"She was my girlfriend once"

“She was my girlfriend once,” he goes on, “So I have a right to be upset, too.   Mathew has even accused me of killing her –

"I had nothing to do with it!"

“I had nothing to do with it!   Listen, John’s going away to France today and we’ve been up to our eyes preparing for when he leaves –

"I'll make sure I keep an eye on things"

“I’ll make sure I keep an eye on things, all right?”

"I collapsed when playing hockey at school"

Gaynor continues, “I remember collapsing once when I was playing hockey at school – I came around quite quickly, but I went to see the doctor.”

"And that's when you discovered to had it?"

Colin realises that was when she discovered she had this thing.

“It’s a defect that affects the heart’s rhythm,” she says, and he protests that she never told him about it.   “I didn’t have any trouble after that.”

"You kept quiet about it all these years!"

“And that’s why Izzy . . . you kept quiet about it all these years!” he rages;

"I never imagined it would affect the girls"

Gaynor never imagined that it would affect the girls.   “You should have thought about it!” he insists, “They had a right to know – if you’d only said, perhaps Izzy might still be here!   If you’d only put the girls first – for once!”

"Were you putting the girls first?"

She counters with, “And were you putting the girls first when you gambled everything and left us?

This hits home with Colin

I lost everything, Colin – my home, all my savings.a   Have you any idea how hard I had to work to give the girls a good life?

"You were always the favourite, weren't you?"

But no, you were always the favourite, weren’t you?   Don’t you dare say I didn’t put the girls first!

Colin is well and truly put in his place

I would have  done anything for them!”

"I'm keeping an eye on APD"

As Eifion comes out of APD, he is telling John Deri Fawr, “I’m trying to keep an eye on the place while Mathew’s – you know.”   John was under the impression that he and his cousin had fallen out,

"People can depend on you, Eifion!"

and admires Eifion because people can depend on him.   That is something Eifion does not hear very often;

"All Eileen does is complain"

“All Eileen does is complain.”

That doesn’t worry me,” John growls, If you can annoy her while I’m away, all the better!

He forgot to speak to the bank

I meant to arrange with the bank for you to sign things while I’m in France, but I forgot.   The easiest thing is if you sign in my name.”

"What – forgery?"

“What – forgery?” Eifion demands, but is told that it is not forgery as John has told him to do it.

"I know where you live!"

He has free rein to sign forms and cheques – as long as he remembers one thing – “I know where you live!” warns John.   Eifion is confident the farm will still be there when he gets back.

Cassie sees Mathew passing

Cassie is clearing up glasses outside the Deri when Mathew passes;

"If there's anything I can do to help . . ."

she asks how he is and assures him that if there is anything she can do . . .

Mathew's phone rings . . .

Then his phone rings and he answers it.

. . . then he meets Eifion

Eifion is nearby and Mathew walks towards him.

Eileen has had some good news

Eileen receives some welcome news by phone;  Sioned imagines that she has won the lottery at last.

"I'm officially chair of the governors"

“No, but I’m officially the chair of governors at the school,” her mother announces, as Sioned tastes the batch of jam.

"You're the 'head honcho' now"

She congratulates her mother on being the ‘head honcho’ at the school, but considers she has enough on her plate already.   “I’d go crazy, just being on the farm all the time –

That jam must have cooled down quickly

“anyway, it’s a chance to give something back, you know,” Eileen replies.

Sioned had had another bright idea;  I’ve heard several people say they miss the café.   Why don’t we open one here, on the farm – Cae Glas Café?”

"You had that idea before"

Her mother reminds her she has had that idea before;

"I have something smaller in mind this time"

“I have something smaller in mind this time – more homely,” she says, “And now is the time, when there is no competition.”   She gets out the laptop to show Eileen her plans.

The shop flat is in disarray

The shop flat is in a very untidy state when Mathew and Eifion come in;  “It’s odd being here without her,” Eifion remarks.

"I'm sorry for accusing you"

Mathew is not ready to start getting rid of her stuff yet, and apologises for accusing Eifion, explaining that he was not thinking straight.

Eifion protests he would never harm Izzy

“I know you’d never do anything to Izzy – now that the police are closing the investigation, there’s no need for any mud to stick.

"I should have noticed something was not right"

“I should have noticed that something wasn’t right, but she seemed OK.   Why didn’t she say something?”

"She may not have known"

Eifion suggests that perhaps she did not know, and in any case it is not Mathew’s fault;  “Even if you had known, there’s nothing you could have done.”   This does not make Mathew feel any better.

"Have you heard from Lois?"

Gaynor is looking at one of the sympathy cards and Colin asks if she has heard from their other daughter, Lois.

"No-one seems to know where she is"

“No-one seems to know where she is – it appears she left the school in Mali about a fortnight ago.”

Colin wonders if she has posted anything on social media, and Gaynor says that she has been in contact with some of Lois’ friends and is waiting for a reply.

"What if we don't find her, Gaynor?"

“What if we don’t find her, Gaynor?” worries Colin,

"What if . . . you know?"

“What if . . . you know . . . perhaps we have not heard anything because . . .”

"Don't get ahead of yourself, Colin"

Gaynor urges him not to get ahead of himself.

"Mam will be on her second bottle already"

Kelly tells her Auntie Anita to hurry up if they are going to the Deri;  she predicts that her mother will be on her second bottle already.

"Your mother's gone home"

“No, your mother’s not coming – she’s gone home,” Anita replies, but she is careful not to reveal the true reason for Amanda’s visit.

"I thought we were going to have a 'girlie night'"

“I took it for granted that you were going to have a ‘girlie night’,” says Kelly, “You know – like that one we had in Tenby – that one when we were looking for you for ages . . .

Anita finds the very thought embarrassing

“and you were upstairs with the barman!   What was his name, now – Terry?”

"You promised we'd never mention it again"

Anita enlightens her that it was Trevor, adding, “You promised we’d never mention that night ever again, remember?   We’re only having a quiet drink, aren’t we?”   Then Anita’s phone rings and she puts it away in her bag before Kelly can see who was calling.

"Playing hard to get, are we?"

“Playing hard to get, are we?” Kelly laughs,

"Could you fetch my cardigan?"

and Anita asks her to fetch the cardigan she left upstairs.

"Sending him a sexy selfie, are you?"

“Sending him a sexy selfie, are you?” Kelly suspects.

Anita does not want to see Mickey again

In fact, Anita composes a text to Mickey, reading, ‘We’re not working – don’t phone again.’

"That's a bit too much"

Sioned demonstrates on the laptop the look which she thinks will work, but Eileen descibes it as a bit too much.

"We're not opening a roadside caff, Mam!"

“We’re not opening a roadside caff, Mam,” Sioned protests, I’ve been doing some research online, and these high-end farm cafés charge high prices, so there’s no sense in opening something that looks like a shed.”

"Money is tight, remember"

Eileen points out that money is tight,

"You'd be surprised how much people will pay"

but Sioned responds, “You’d be surprised how much people are willing to pay – and then there’s the visitors.”   Eileen warns that they cannot rely on tourists, but concedes it would be a good way to show off their produce.

“And we can offer the first people to sign up with us a box of fresh veg,” is Sioned’s next proposal;  Eileen can see that she has thought this through.

"I'm sorry about that"

Eileen has a phone call, complaining that someone’s veg box has not arrived;  “I’m sorry about that – I’ll sort it out,” she promises,

Perhaps the jam has not cooled down

but immediately goes back to her jam-making.

"Why are you avoiding Mickey, Auntie Neet?"

On their way to the Deri, Kelly asks why Anita is avoiding Mickey, but she denies that she is;  “He left a message to say he doesn’t want to see me again.”

"We'll have a 'Cosmo', please, Cassie"

They sit down outside the pub and Kelly tells Cassie that they will have a ‘Cosmo’ each.

"Mickey must have had cold feet"

Anita continues that there is nothing else to say, as obviously Mickey has had cold feet.

"He didn't give you a single reason?"

Kelly is outraged that he did not give a single reason for his decision, and insists that Anita should not just simply leave it there.

"I don't want to discuss it any more"

Anita flatly refuses to discuss the matter any more,

"We could go back and look for Tenby Trev!"

so Kelly jokingly suggests, “We could always go back and look for ‘Tenby Trev’!”

"Now that the coroner has . . ."

Britt joins Colin and Gaynor in the chippy flat;  “OK, now the coroner has . . . Izzy will be able to come home,”

"We must think seriously about the funeral"

and Colin acknowledges that they will have to start thinking seriously about the funeral.

"The best thing is to have the funeral quickly"

“I think the best thing for all of us is that we have the funeral quite quickly, within the next week.   A service at Bethania, then there’s the cemetery –

"I couldn't bear thinking about . . ."

“a burial, not a cremation – I couldn’t bear thinking about . . . Sorry, I need some fresh air,”

He rushes for the flat

and he rushes from the flat, with Gaynor following him.

Britt makes sure they have gone . . .

Checking to make sure they have gone, Britt takes down a box file from the top of the fridge

. . . and sorts through some papers

and sorts through the papers inside it.

"Where's that hunk of yours, then, Anita?"

Cassie comes out of the Deri and enquires, “Where’s that hunk of yours, then, Anita?”

"He's dropped her"

and Kelly replies that he has dropped her.   “You seemed to be having fun,” Cassie goes on, “I thought he looked a good catch.”

"I have to visit the toilet"

Anita gives the excuse of visiting the toilet and goes inside,

"She's gutted!"

and Kelly suspects that her aunt is ‘gutted’.   Cassie predicts that he is married;

"All the best ones are married!"

“All the best ones are married – that’s why I can’t find one!”

They have been clearing up the place

The shop flat is now looking much tidier and Mathew thanks Eifion for helping;  he will also put APD’s orders through the system, and make sure everything is all right.

"Jason will be back soon – I hope!"

“Jason will be back soon – I hope!” he adds.

"Colin needs to sort Izzy' things out"

On his way out he meets Britt who is coming in;  “Colin’s asked me to come over,” she says, “He can’t face anyone.   Sorry about this, but he needs to sort Izzy’s things out, as her next of kin.”

"I've been keeping everything in a file"

Mathew has been keeping everything in a file, and asks what the plans are, now that the autopsy has taken place.

"Colin will contact you"

She advises that Colin will contact Mathew in due course, so he gets the file and hands it to Britt.

"An order needs to be delivered as soon as possible"

As Eileen packs another veg box, she is leaving a message for Jinx;  “Phone me back when you get this message – an order needs to be delivered as soon as possible.”

Eileen is in serious need of a rest

She is feeling exhausted, so sits on the sofa for a doze.

Britt is back at the chippy flat

Britt returns to the flat and finds that Colin is still not there;

She looks at Izzy's will . . .

she takes the file given to her by Mathew, finding among the papers ‘Last Will and Testament, Esyllt ‘Izzy’ Evans.’

 . . .and is concerned

She looks anxiously at it.

Eileen is just waking up . . .

Some time later Eileen awakens from her snooze,

. . . but gets a great shock

then becomes aware of someone walking into the room behind her.

"Hello, Eileen!"

As she turns, she sees DJ, who says, “Hello, Eileen!”
