"He's here!"

Siôn is peering round the curtains and tells Iolo, “He’s here!   Have you tidied up upstairs?”   Iolo confirms that the place looks great,

Cai comes in . . .

then the door opens and in walks Cai.

. . . and is welcomed by Siôn

He is effusively welcomed home by Siôn and Iolo says that it is great to have him back.

Cai is glad that he can stay there;  Siôn will take his belongings up to the room.

"I bought some special coffee"

“I bought some special coffee yesterday – I’ll make a cafetiere.   We could go to Cefn Sidan, or Narberth?   We could go out for dinner tonight?” Siôn goes on, rather too enthusiastically, “But we don't have to go out – I can find a good film . . .”

"I'll go up and unpack"

Cai stops him there, commenting that he will go up to unpack;

Siôn is worried

Siôn looks rather worried.

Cheryl's hand are still causing trouble

Cassie has just served a customer in the Deri and can see that Cheryl is still having trouble with her hands.

"I've always been sensitive"

“Oh, give me strength!” she exclaims, “It’s typical of my luck – I should have known – I’ve always been sensitive.”   Sensitive is not a word that Cassie would associate with her.

Cheryl maintains that she needs to stick with more natural stuff;  “But you would have thought that ‘Meddal’ stuff would have been OK.

"I'm going to pop to the pharmacy"

“Im going to pop to the pharmacy to see if they’ve got something for this blinking itching!”

Cai comes downstairs

When Cai comes downstairs, Iolo is packing Greta’s bag for the gym and invites Cai to accompany him;  Cai is not keen, and is reminded that there is some special coffee on the way for him.

"I think I'll go for a walk, then"

“I’ll think I’ll go for a walk, then,” is Cai’s response to that.

Siôn brings in the coffee

Siôn comes in, announcing, “Coffee from Nant Lleu Llaw Gyffes and biscuits from Aberffraw – the location of Llywelyn the Great’s court, of course – a proper Welsh welcome for you.”

"I'm going out for a bit of fresh air"

Cai pleads that he has rather a headache and is going out for bit of fresh air – he will see them later,

Siôn is disappointed

which comes as a disappointment to Siôn.

Gaynor is giving advice again

In the pharmacy, Gaynor looks at Cheryl’s hands and wonders if she ought to go to see the doctor.

Griffiths has athlete's foot trouble

Ieuan Griffiths is also there, complaining that his athlete’s foot has flared up again and Gaynor introduces him to her sister.

"You had the trouble with the hand-cream"

“Oh, you had the unfortunate trouble with the hand-cream,” he says, “I’m Anita’s partner.   You must be a very special woman, then –

"Only one in a million has that reaction"

“only one person in a million has such a bad reaction, according to the statistics.”

"It's driving me bonkers!"

She merely remarks that the itching is driving her bonkers and he assures her that Anita is worried sick;  “She can’t sleep a wink – but I’m you sure you’re sensible and won’t take things further.

"After filling in those responsibility forms"

“You would have to be pretty stupid to sue Anita after filling in those responsibility forms.”

Gaynor appears rather puzzled about that and demands what forms he is talking about.   “You know – those disclaimer forms you signed,” he replies,

They never signed any such forms

but neither of them saw any such forms.   “Oh, I must have misunderstood,” he adds, and quickly leaves the pharmacy.

"Is Cai here?"

Ffion arrives at Y Felin, hoping to see Cai, but is told that he is out;  she has brought some books for him, which she hopes will be of use.

"Do you want a cup of coffee, Ffion?"

Siôn is obviously not giving up, but asks if she wants a cup of coffee;  “The biscuits from Aberffraw are lovely.”

"He's at it again!"

Iolo can see what he is up to,

"I have to go for a run"

but Ffion declines as she wants to go for run before it gets dark;  she will see Cai and other time.

Cai is sitting in the park . . .

He is out, sitting at a park bench, when Mark happens to be passing;

. . . and is joined by Mark

he comes over and welcomes Cai back;  “I’m here for a while, anyway,” he answers.

"I hope you're not going to try and do it again"

Mark hopes that he is not going to try to do it again and is glad to hear that Cai has no intention of doing that.

He sits down and asks how things are at Y Felin;

"Siôn's like an annoying fly"

“Siôn’s like an annoying fly – in my face all the time.”   Mark imagines that he feels like throwing Siôn and his posh dictionary under a bus.

"He's worried about you – we all are"

“It’s coming from a good place though – he’s worried about you – we all are.   It would have been a poorer world without you.”

"Thanks, Mark"

Cai appreciates that.

"I asked for an Americano"

Ieuan brings Anita a posh coffee in the deli;  she protests that she asked for an Americano.

"I thought you deserved a treat"

“I know – I thought you deserved a treat,” he tells her, “You’ve been working so hard.”

She agrees that she deserves some attention after what happened last night.   “Yes, I’ve been thinking about that, to be honest,” he continues,

"Do you remember Lot's wife?"

“I’ve also been thinking about some of the Bible stories I learned in Sunday school years ago.   Now then, do you remember the one about Lot’s wife?”  [Genesis 19]

"She turned into a pillar of salt"

“Yes, she turned into a pillar of salt!” says Anita, rather confused, and he considers that one worth remembering,

"There's a lot we can learn from Lot's wife"

as we can learn a lot from Lot’s wife.

"How not to turn into a pillar of salt?"

“What?   About how to avoid turning into a pillar of salt?” she demands.

"It's easy to make innocent mistakes"

“Well, the fact that it’s very easy to make innocent mistakes without realising the disastrous consequences they lead to,” he explains.

She imagines that he has done something serious,

"I spoke to Cheryl about the responsibility forms . . ."

but he goes on, “I think we both need to take some responsibility in this context.   I happened to speak with Cheryl about the responsibility forms,

". . . she said she had not seen one"

“but strangely she said she had not seen one.”

Then Anita realises

Now Anita knows exactly what he is talking about.

"I couldn't see any hope in life"

Out in the park, Cai tells Mark, “I reached a point where I couldn’t see any hope in life.”

"But you don't feel like that now?"

Mark assumes that he does not feel like that now;

"I can see some hope now"

“There are still things I’m worried about, but I can see some hope now – and the meds help.”

Mark wonders if he has felt like that before – that he wanted to . . .

"I'd never thought about killing myself"

“I’d never thought about killing myself, not really – when things weren’t great, I’d find other ways of coping, like harming myself sometimes.   You know, cutting myself – I turned to the booze.   But this time, nothing was enough – I’ve spent my life trying not to turn out like my father – he was an alcoholic and bitter – does that remind you of anyone?”

"You're a good person, deep down"

Mark maintains that he is a good person, deep down;  “You know what I mean –

"I don't know what to say"

“I didn’t realise you were in so much pain – I don’t know what to say.”

"You don't have to say anything, Mark"

Cai replies that he does not have to say anything.

"I've seen the review you wrote!"

Anita bursts into the Deri and exclaims, “Well, well, well – Ive seen the review you wrote!”

"Allergies can be serious"

Cheryl says that she was warning people, stressing that allergies can be serious.

"And now you're going to take advantage, are you?"

“And you’re going to take advantage of this now, are you?   It suits you that I forgot the responsibility forms, doesn’t it?   I know how your type think!”

"What 'type' is that, Anita?"

Cheryl enquires exactly what ‘type’ that might be,

"The type that's always looking to sue!"

and Anita snarls, “The type who are always looking to sue!”

“It hadn’t crossed my mind to do such thing,” Cheryl replies,

"But, as you've been such a cow . . ."

“But, as you’ve been such a cow, that’s exactly what I might do!”

Anita is rather deflated

This tends to take the wind out of Anita’s sails.

"Getting out of bed seemed a big step forward"

As they walk through the park, Cai continues, “Some days in the hospital, just getting out of bed and opening the curtains felt like a big step forward – even if it was the only thing I did all day.”

"But look at you now"

Mark points out the difference with him now;  “You’re home, and you’re out for a walk.”   Cai recalls that Trebor Edwards told him that it was one day at a time.

When asked whether he has seen the children,

"Nesta's worried I'm not stable enough"

he answers, “Nesta’s worried I’m not stable enough to see them.   I just have to accept that Lleucu and Twm aren’t going to be part of my life for a while.”

"There was a time when Ricky wouldn't talk to me"

Mark remembers that there was a time when Ricky would not talk to him;  “It’s a long story, to do with Debbie.   It was hard, you know, but things will get easier, you’ll see.”

"I never want to feel like that again"

The hope of seeing his children again gives Cai something to hope for, but he never wants to feel like that again;  “I need to get fit again – physically and mentally.”   Mark considers that he is on the right track;

"Thank you, Doctor Jones"

“Thank you, Doctor Jones!” says Cai, “You’d make a great therapist.”

"I only charge £100 an hour!"

Mark assures him, “If you ever want a chat, any time, I’m here – I only charge £100 an hour!”

Ffion is in a terrible state

Then they notice Ffion, limping painfully across the park and wonder what she has done;

"It's this gammy ankle!"

“It’s this gammy ankle,” she moans, “I’ve twisted it again – I wouldn’t mind some help getting back to the village.”

The two gallant men help her

They each take one arm and assist her in her slow progress homewards.

"I almost called her something a lot worse!"

When told what Anita said, Gaynor agrees, “Well, what a cow!”   Cheryl almost called her something a lot worse, and considers that she does wants to sue Anita after all.

“But that would only prove her right, wouldn’t it?”

"She's as bad as Griffiths how"

Gaynor declares that Anita is as bad as Griffiths now.

"I'm fed up with people walking all over me"

“I’m fed up with people like her walking all over me, as if I’m some kind of doormat!” growls Cheryl and Gaynor suggests that perhaps now is the time to change that.

"What if I sold better stuff on her patch?"

“What if I became an ambassador myself?” says Cheryl, “And if I sold better stuff than her on her own patch here?”

"Right under her nose?"

Gaynor likes the sound of that, right under her nose.

“Why not?   She doesn’t own Cwmderi, does she?

"I could teach her a lesson"

“It would be extra income for me and I could teach her a lesson at the same time!”   The idea is becoming increasingly attractive.

"Is Cheryl around, Cassie?"

Anita and Ieuan come into the Deri and greet Cassie;  they wonder if Cheryl is around.  “No, she’s popped home – she’s quite upset, to be honest.

"Scratching like an old dog with fleas"

“She’s been scratching like an old dog with fleas – but she hasn’t been complaining.”

"Lager and a bottle of Merlot"

Ieuan asks for a bottle of lager and a bottle of Merlot,”

"I can't drink a whole bottle on my own"

but Anita protests that she cannot drink a whole bottle on her own.

"It's not for you, Anita . . ."

He informs her that it is not for her and pays contactlessly.

". . . hurry up, before I have to remortgage the house"

“Right, hurry up, before I have to remortgage the house,” he urges.

Mark comes in for a pint . . .

Mark comes in for a pint

. . . but cannot see Cheryl

and looks around for Cheryl;  he is told that she will not be long.

"Do you think she likes me?"

“Do you think she likes me?” he asks and Cassie suggests that he ought to ask her that;  he could even ask her for a date.

"I haven't had a lot of luck with women"

“The thing is, I haven’t had a lot of luck with women recently – I don’t want to make the same mistakes again.   Andrea – I ruined any chance of a relationship with her before things even got started.   I don’t want the same thing to happen with Cheryl.”

"I'm looking for someone to do a few shifts"

Cassie points out that they need to find a way to bring Mark and Cheryl together;  “As it happens, I’m looking for someone to do a few shifts – so that would bring you closer, wouldn’t it?”

He was under the impression Cassie did not want his help any more after the last time;  “If it means you two get together, I’m willing to make the sacrifice,” she tells him,

"Don't go anywhere near a barrel!"

“But don’t go anywhere near a barrel!”

He immediately enquires when she wants him to start;  “Now – go and clear that table, please!” he is told.

Anita is full of apologies . . .

Anita is at Maes-y-Deri, attempting to clear the air;  “I just panicked and thought the worst – I’ve been under a lot of pressure – I’ve been like a headless chicken, running around the place!   But I do feel terrible – about everything – your hands and . . . the way I spoke to you.”

. . . but Cheryl does not reply

Cheryl says nothing

She hands over her peace offering

and Anita presents her with the bottle of Merlot as a sign of how sorry she is.

"OK – we'll forget it, shall we?"

She is very pleased to hear Cheryl say, “OK – we’ll forget it, shall we?”

"There's no point holding a grudge"

Anita stresses that there is no point holding a grudge and is, in turn,

"Make sure you hand out the disclaimer forms"

reminded to make sure that she hands out the disclaimer forms from now on.

“Thank you, Cheryl – business has exploded, you know?

"I've never been so popular"

“I cant keep up, to be honest,” Anita adds, “Things are flying out – I’ve never been so popular.”

Cheryl asks if she is active on the socials and Anita replies that she does not do much marketing that way, but is now showing some interest.   “Some people are begging for the products – and they don’t even know what they are!”

"It's an interesting situation"

Cheryl describes it as an interesting situation.

Cai is tending Ffion's injury

At Cysgod y Glyn, Cai is bandaging Ffion’s ankle and warns her not to overdo things;  “Rest, ice, strap it up and keep it up,” he prescribes, “You know, but listening is a different matter – you’re just as stubborn as ever.”

As soon as she moves her foot from the coffee table,

"No – I said keep it up!"

he replaces it there and she thanks him for looking after her.

"Anything to avoid going back to Y Felin"

“Anything to avoid going back to Y Felin,” he groans, “They are my family, after all – it’s just, you know what Siôn’s like.”

Ffion can find some jobs for him

“You’re welcome here any time you want a change of scene,” Ffion tells him, “I’ve got windows that need cleaning and shelves to put up.

"It's nice to see you smiling"

It’s nice to see you smiling again – and it will be nice to have you back at school, when you’re ready, whenever that is.”

"I'm not quite there yet"

He admits that he is not quite there yet and they will discuss it another time.

He leaves the flat and she immediately puts her foot down on the floor;

"Keep that foot up!"

he shouts, “Keep that foot up!” as he goes downstairs.

Hostilities have now ended

Cheryl arrives at the Deri, laughing with Anita.

"The key to forgiveness for every sin"

When Anita rejoins Ieuan, he remarks, “Red wine, the key to forgiveness for every sin!” and she concedes that he was right.

"I think I've learned my lesson . . ."

She thinks that she has now learned her lesson and needs to slow down a little;

". . . Cheryl's all right, deep down"

“You know what?   Cheryl’s all right – deep down,” she adds.

"They'r called 'Beautiss'

Meanwhile Cheryl is explaining to Mark at the bar, “They’re called ‘Beautiss’ and I’m having an induction next week.”

"Does that mean you'll be giving up your job here?"

He realises that she will be selling this ‘Beautiss’ stuff around the village like Anita.

“Does that mean you’ll be giving up your job here?” he enquires,

"I'm good at multi-tasking"

but she points out that she is good at multi-tasking.   He is pleased to hear this, “Because I might be doing a few shifts here now and then.”

Cheryl realises that they will see a lot more of each other;  “If that’s OK with you,” he says

"It will be a laugh"

and she predicts that it will be a laugh.

"Greta's somersaults are improving"

Siôn is sitting on the sofa, looking preoccupied, when Iolo come downstairs and tells him that Greta’s somersaults are improving.

"Something's still worrying me . . ."

“Something’s still worrying me,” his father begins,

". . . I should be completely honest with Cai"

“I think I should be completely honest with Cai about the kiss.   I think it would be better for everyone.”

Cai has just come in

What he does not know is that Cai has just silently entered the house.

Iolo insists, “Dad, you need to forget about it,” but Siôn maintains that Cai needs to be able to trust them,

"What if he finds out some other way?"

demanding what if he find out some other way.

"The sooner you forget about that kiss with Ffion . . ."

“Why would he?   It was hardly a ‘Brief Encounter’, was it?” Iolo snarls, “The sooner you forget about that kiss with Ffion, the better it all be for everyone!”

Cai is shocked to hear that

Cai ponders what he has just heard.

"Cain and Abel are friends again"

In the Deri, Ieuan tells Cassie, “One more won’t hurt, now that Cain and Abel are friends again.”

"Remember how they ended up?"

Cassie reminds him how they ended up.

"Someone else selling on your patch"

Mark comments, “Fair play to Anita – it’s not easy to accept that someone else is going to sell the same products on your patch.”   Anita has just joined Ieuan and caught the last part of that.

"Cheryl and this 'Beautiss' stuff

“Yes, Cheryl and this ‘Beautiss’ stuff,” Mark continues.

Cheryl returns to the bar

Cheryl comes back to the bar and Anita is furious;

"You're going to sell this 'Beautiss' stuff?"

“You’re going to sell this ‘Beautiss’ stuff?   Oh, I see – that’s why you were asking questions earlier – you wanted to learn my tricks.”

Cheryl cannot see any problem here, explaining, “‘Beautiss’ is for millennials and generation Z –

"Not people who are past their sell-by date"

“not baby boomers and people who are past their sell-by dates.   If the cap fits, Anita!”

Ieuan tries to calm things

Anita is working herself up into a frenzy, in spite of of Ieuan’s efforts to calm her;

"You're going to regret crossing me, good girl!"

“You’re going to regret crossing me, good girl!” she shouts, then she turns to Cassie.   “And you know what?   Look out if you support her – instead of my respectable business!”

Cheryl cannot help but smirk

As she marches out, followed by Ieuan, Cheryl is unable to suppress a grin.
