"Don't leave before we discuss this"

Kelly is eating her breakfast when Jason comes downstairs and is leaving for work;  “Please don’t leave before we discuss this,” she says, but he does not know what there is to discuss.

"Do you want to know how I killed Izzy?"

“Do you want to know how I killed Izzy?” he snarls, but she wants to know why he lied to the cops.   “Because I’m ashamed that I was caught in the casino – this is pointless,” he replies and then notices Anita standing nearby.

Anita is listening

and then notices Anita standing nearby.

"You're always there, listening!"

“You’re always there, listening, aren’t you?” he shouts.    She points out that she lives there and he adds, “Well, that was a mistake, wasn’t it?” before slamming the door on his way out.

"You have to tell the police the truth, Kelly"

Anita insists that Kelly has to tell the police the truth, but she answers is that it will not help the investigation.   “It’s not your place to decide that,” Auntie Anita scolds her,

"He's desperate and he's angry"

“He’s an addict – he’s desperate and he’s angry!”

"I'm a magnet for murderers!"

“But he’s not a murderer, and it should never have crossed my mind,” Kelly confesses.   Anita continues to disagree, and Kelly goes on, “I get it – cos I’m an appalling judge of character – and I’m a magnet for murderers!”

"Then you can move on"

Her aunt stresses not about her – a young woman has died;  “If Jason is innocent, the police can confirm his story and then you can move on.”

"Easy – after I've shopped hm to the cops!"

Kelly imagines that it will be an easy matter to move on after she has shopped him to the cops.

"It's strange he hasn't called"

In the chip shop flat, Colin is looking at a sympathy card from Mark;  “It’s strange that he hasn’t called,” he says,

"Why don't we go for a drive somewhere?"

and Britt suggests that they go for a drive somewhere, to get out of the village, but he dismisses that.

"Come up, Aled"

Then the buzzer sounds and Britt tells Aled to come up;

"I'll check if Colin's all right"

she goes to check if Colin is all right.   Aaron is pleased to see Aled,

"How are things?"

who asks how things are;  he knows that Aaron and Izzy were close.   “Its tough,” Aaron replies,

"I don't want to sound selfish"

“I can’t imagine what Colin is going through, and I can’t say anything because – well, I don’t want to sound selfish.”

"Nobody thinks that"

Aled assures him that nobody thinks that, but Aaron goes on,

"And to go like that . . ."

“She was his daughter – and to go like that . . .”   Aled suggests that he should get out of the house, because he needs some space;  he would invite Aaron over, but Jaclyn is there.

"Come over to the Deri for a few hours"

He is working in the Deri, and asks Aaron to go over there for a few hours;  it may do him good, and during the afternoon it will not be busy.

"I'll look after you, yeah?"

“Come on – I’ll look after you, yeah?”

Ieuan turns up in the Deri

In fact, Jaclyn is not at number 10, but sitting in the Deri with a cup of tea, looking rather morose.   She is not cheered by the arrival of Ieuan Griffiths, who is carrying a large bag.

"I've got you more bookings"

He announces, “I’ve got you more bookings,”

"I came here for a bit of peace"

but she replies that she is there for a bit of peace.   “No, you don’t understand,” he continues,

"Something to 'break the Internet'!"

“There’s a buzz around you – that’s why I’ve created a promotional event – something to ‘break the Internet’, in Kim Kardashian’s modest words.”

He has completely lost Jaclyn by this time, so explains further, “We’re going to do a live video of you singing in Cwmderi.   You’ll walk down the street, past Tapas,”

He ought to look where he is going

and as he walks backwards, he almost falls over a chair.

"And end up in front of the Deri"

“And end up in front of the Deri, out there.”

"Everywhere connected with Dylan and the shooting!"

Jaclyn is not impressed;  “Everywhere connected with Dylan and the shooting!” she growls, and he had not thought about that.   “I don’t want to be remembered as ‘that woman who was shot’!” she insists, but he regards her as an inspiration to the person on the street.   She most certainly does not see herself in that way.

"A Phoenix rising from the ashes!"

“Like the Phoenix rising from the ashes!” he rather dramatically puts it;  she warns him not to overdo it, and asks what is in his bag.

"Clothes that Hazel left behind"

It is clothes – a few things that Hazel left behind.

Jaclyn puts her foot down;  “No way!   I’m not wearing clothes Hazel didn’t want 20 years ago!

"I choose the clothes and the look!"

“I’ll do the video – but I choose the clothes and the look!   Have you really kept her things all this time?”

"I thought she might come back"

He replies that he thought she might come back, zips up the bag and leaves the Deri.

Britt comes out of the shop . . .

Britt comes out of the shop

. . . and meets Mark

and sees Mark on his post round;  she thanks him for the card and he says he had intended to call and see them.

"Colin would like to see you"

“Colin would like to see you,” she tells him, but he maintains that he is not very good in these situations.

She sarcastically replies that everyone else has dealt really well with the fact that he has lost his daughter in suspicious circumstances.

"I'm scared I shall say the wrong thing"

“I should have come over as soon as I found out, but I’m scared I shall say the wrong thing, Britt,” he admits.

She reminds him that no words will make this better, but Colin would definitely like to see him;

"Just show you're there for him"

“Just show that you’re there for him – that’s all we can do.”

Jason thinks he has a customer . . .

Jason comes into APD, under the impression he has a customer,

. . . then is disappointed

but then discovers that it is the DI;

"I understand you and Esyllt argued"

“I’ve received some information about the day Esyllt died, and I’d like you to answer some more questions.   I understand you and Esyllt argued on the day of the incident.”

"Who told you that?"

Jason closes the doors and enquires who told him that.

“Is it true?” the DI continues,

"Withholding evidence can be an offence"

“Withholding information from the police can be an offence.”   Jason answers that they did fall out,

"I had forgotten about it"

but it was nothing and he had forgotten about it – it was something about stock – he had ordered too much cement.

"Nothing to do with gambling, then?"

“Nothing to do with gambling, then?” is the next question, “I understand that Esyllt found out that you were gambling, told your partner, Kelly and you were very angry with Esyllt.”

"It was none of Esyllt's business"

“It was none of Esyllt’s business,” stresses Jason, but confirms that they did argue about the gambling.

"And you went straight home afterwards?"

“Do you still claim that you went straight home afterwards?” enquires the DI,

"I went to the casino in Swansea"

and Jason has no alternative but to admit that he went out, first to the pub and then to the casino in Swansea.   “I need a list of everywhere you went and the times,” he is informed,

"Don't try to hide anything, Mr Francis"

“And don’t try to hide anything, Mr Francis – I’m sure to discover the truth.”

"Sorry I didn't come sooner, Col"

Mark arrives at the chip shop flat, apologising that he has not come sooner;  Colin says that a lot of people have been calling and that it is tiring, to be honest.

"I'm happy to see you"

“But I’m happy to see you.”

Mark has brought a jigsaw puzzle

Mark has brought him a few things, a jigsaw puzzle of horses – “Fflam!” and a game of snakes and ladders.

"I don't know why I brought it"

“It was a silly idea – I really don’t know why I brought it.”

"It's a nice change from flowers"

Colin says that it makes a nice change from flowers, and offers Mark a cup of tea, or a can, if he would prefer.

"A divorce?"

Dani has considered Garry’s proposal and her answer astonishes him;  “A divorce?” he exclaims.

"I want to move on with my life"

She wants him to sign the papers, so that she can move on with her life.

She emphasises that there is no turning back after what he did;

"You said you didn't love me and then disappeared"

“It’s still so fresh in my mind – you saying that you didn’t love me and then disappearing without a word!”

"That was because of Dylan"

He reminds her that was because of Dylan,

"You wanted to run away with Jaclyn!"

but she screams, “You wanted to run away with Jaclyn!   You have no idea, have you, how much you broke my heart?   And the children’s.   I cannot believe you think I’d want to try again.”

"I thought we were starting to understand each other"

He had been under the impression that they were starting to understand each other again, and being a family again,

"I don't love you any more, Garry!"

but she shatters that illusion;  “But I don’t want to be with you – I don’t love you any more, Garry!”

"Nice to see you back, Aaron"

Cassie says that it is nice to see Aaron back in the Deri, and assures him that if he needs a break, he should go home;

"I'm glad to be out of the flat"

he replies that he is glad to be out of the flat.

"Have you spoken to your father?"

Then he asks Aled if he has spoken to his father;

"I never want to talk to him again!"

“No – and I never want to talk to him again!” is the emphatic answer.

"Is he going to say we're all lying?"

“I can’t understand why he’s pleading not guilty – is he going to say that I’m lying – that we’re all lying?”   Aled has given no thought to the matter,

"I have to testify now"

and Aaron groans, “Well, that’s it – I have to testify now.   I don’t want to be torn to pieces by some barrister, and I don’t want my name in the paper as someone who was selling drugs.

"I know I shouldn't be worrying about this now"

“I know I shouldn’t be worrying about this now, not with Izzy, but I just wasn’t expecting it.”

They are playing snakes and ladders

As they continue with their game of snakes and ladders,

"I can't believe she's gone"

Colin sighs, “I can’t believe that she’s gone – I just can’t.   It’s easier to believe I’m in some sort of dream – that the whole thing is a mistake.

"I went for a walk to where she was"

“I went for a walk yesterday to the place, you know, where she was.   I was on my own, there was no one around, and I called out her name, over and over.

"I just got angry"

“I was expecting her to answer me – I just got angry . . .”

"I speak to my Dad a lot"

Mark confesses that he speaks to his father a lot;  “And sometimes I hear his voice in my head, answering me.   Sometimes I get signs, like I shall be thinking about him

"His favourite song comes on the radio"

“and his favourite song comes on the radio.   Or I shall come across something that belonged to him.”

"What am I supposed to do with all the pain?"

“What are you supposed to do, Mark?” pleads Colin, “You know, with all the pain?   What am I supposed to do with it?”

"It's not just pain – it's love"

Mark explains, “It’s not just the pain, is it?   It’s love – that’s why it hurts so much,

"That's why it never goes away"

“and that’s why it never goes away – and we don’t want it to go away either, do we?”

"How many more times?   I didn't phone the cops!"

Jason has come back to Bryntirion, where Kelly screams at him, “How many more times do I have to say it?   I didn’t phone the cops!”

"Then Anita must have done!"

He reaches the conclusion that Anita must have done, but she stresses that she is not responsible for Anita’s actions.

“You are responsible for what you say to her!” he rages, “That detective knew things I’d only told you – so you must have told Anita!”

"Don't take the moral high ground with me!"

“Don’t take the moral high ground with me!” Kelly snarls, “Izzy’s dead, possibly murdered, so the police need the facts!”

"Me being in the casino had nothing to do with the police"

He argues that the fact he was in the casino that night has nothing to do with the police;

"You think I'm responsible for her death"

he thinks that the problem is that Kelly believes he is somehow responsible for Izzy’s death.

Kelly has had enough and walks out

“That’s it – walk away – that will solve everything!” he rants, as she picks up her bag and leaves the house, commenting that he has no idea how unreasonable he is being.

"You have no idea – how much I've been hurt"

As the door slams, he replies, “You have no idea – how much I’ve been hurt.”

"It was a shock, to say the least"

In the Deri, Garry tells Britt, “It was a shock, to say the least – I thought we were getting closer again, you know – that she liked having me here.”

"She doesn't love me any more – end of!"

Britt advises him not to give up hope, as she has been through a lot lately.   “She doesn’t love me any more – end of!” Garry groans.

"I don't think she knows how she feels"

Britt goes on, “I don’t think Dani knows how she feels at the moment – she’s been worried sick about her life and the children during the last few weeks.

"You did treat her pretty badly as well!"

“She’s expecting Dylan’s baby and – well, you did treat her pretty badly as well!”

“So it’s my fault, is it?” Garry demands,

"You couldn't have chosen a worse time"

and Britt considers that he could not have chosen a worse time to ask her if she wanted to get back together.

"Do you think I should sign these papers?"

“Do you think I should sign these papers?” he asks.

His sister concedes that he should, pointing out that a piece of paper is not going to force her to love him.

"Why she married you on the first place"

“But if you can show the best side of yourself, perhaps it will remind her of why she married you in the first place.”

Ieuan Griffiths has all the high-tech equipment

Ieuan Griffiths walks backwards round the corner by the medical centre, holding his phone on a ‘selfie stick’ as Jaclyn follows him, singing,

“You have a happy life, you’re completely satisfied,

But there’s something at the back of your mind

That keeps on worrying you.”

"With Griffiths?   I hope she knows what she's doing!"

Outside the Deri, Aaron wonders what is going on and is told by Aled that she is doing it to promote her singing career.   “What – with Ieuan Griffiths as her manager?” Aaron sneers, “I hope she knows what she’s doing!”

"Do you want me to talk to my Dad?"

Aled offers to talk to his father for Aaron,

Aaron is surprised . . .

which comes as rather a surprise;  “It’s obviously playing on your mind – if it will help, I’m more than willing.   We’re friends – I’d do anything for you.   I’m serious – you’re a special bloke and you deserve to be happy.”

. . . but suspects there is an ulterior motive

aron can see where this is leading and makes it perfectly clear that he is not interested,

"No – I'm not trying to 'make a move' on you"

so Aled protests that he was not trying to ‘make a move’ on him, which in no way convinces Aaron.

Some rather childish behaviour ensues . . .

“If you don’t want my help, you can clear up on your own,” moans Aled and they begin to throw things at each other.

. . . which disrupts the recording

The disturbance interrupts the recording session, but,

Ieuan tells the bystander to go away . . .

motioning to a  passer-by to get out of the shot, Ieuan encourages Jaclyn to continue.

. . . by this time Jaclyn has had enough

However, by this time she has had enough and shakes her head.

Kelly is back at Bryntirion

Kelly arrives back at Bryntirion, where Anita is waiting for her,

"There's an envelope for you"

and points out an envelope on the table for her.

Kelly reads the note

She reads the message inside;  “He’s gone – and he’s taken Ifan with him –

"Why did you have to phone the cops"

“and he doesn’t want me to contact him, so . . .   Why did you have to phone the cops?”

"So you didn't have to do it"

“So that you didn’t have to do it,” is Anita’s reply.

"It makes me want you more"

As she sits on sofa, Dani is speaking on the phone;  “You can’t say things like that to me!” she says, in mock outrage, “Because it makes me want you more.   I just can’t wait to get this divorce out of the way, you know.

"We're going to clear your name"

“I don’t want to hide this any more – I’ve told you, we’re going to clear your name.”

Then she is interrupted by the kicking of the baby;

"I love you, Dyl!"

“It’s just your baby saying hello – right winger, is it?   I love you, Dyl!”
