Dylan appears to be performing to the CCTV

Dylan is waiting in the interview room, apparently without a care in the world, when DI Wilkinson comes in;

DI Wilkinson begins the interview

“Tape starts at 6:45pm – DI Wilkinson present,” he says, “Mr Ellis, I’d like to remind you you’re still under caution.   We’re investigating allegations of possession of a firearm, with intent to endanger life and conspiracy to supply drugs.

"Is there anything you'd like to say?"

“Before we start, is there anything you’d like to say?”

"Yes – I'm not saying a word"

Dylan’s reply is, “Yes – I’m not saying a word until my solicitor gets here.”

He grins at the DI

He picks up his glass of water and grins moronically at the DI.

Aled is watching

Aled is watching from afar as Britt is pleased to see her brother again, “Oh, Gar, I’m so glad you’re back – are you all right?”   He thanks her for keeping him in the loop,

"It's all kicking off here"

and she goes on, “It’s all kicking off here.”

They see Tyler approaching

Tyler walks past with his window cleaning equipment, and Britt says that she saw Dani, who told her she wore a wire to catch Dylan;

"It's like something out of Hawaii Five-O!"

“It’s like something out of Hawaii Five-O!”   Garry points out that his sister finally saw sense, and Britt comments that she went back to the Deri with the kids.

"I'll go and see Dani after work"

Tyler will go and see her after work.

"The place will be a lot safer with Dylan locked up"

The place will be a lot safer with Dylan locked up,” growls Garry, “A new start for us all.”   Britt will make a cup of tea to celebrate;  she is sure that Garry will be thirsty after that drive,

He looks up at the Deri flat . . .

but he cannot resist looking up at the Deri flat.

. . . and Aled is still keeping watch

Aled is still watching.

Rhys looks at the laptop

Rhys is looking at the laptop in Llwyncelyn;  he closes it abruptly when his father comes in.

"Do you want to come to the Deri?"

“I’m meeting Gaynor in the Deri for a pint – do you want to come?

"When are you going?"

“The money is still there for you – for the counselling session.   When are you going?”

"Next week"

Rhys replies that it is next week, and his father encourages him that it will be good for him.

"I want to show you what's what on the Playstation"

“When I come back from the Deri, I want to show you what’s what on the PlayStation,” says Hywel.

"Yeah, if you say so, Gramps!"

“Yeah, if you say so, Gramps!” is Rhys’ sarcastic response.

He returns to the 'Cwmderi Counsellors' website

When his father has gone, he returns to the laptop, specifically to the website of Cwmderi Counsellors, and opens the booking page.

A rather historic motor vehicle . . .

A somewhat vintage car is parked near Cysgod y Glyn,

. . . is parked near Cysgod y Glyn

and when Ffion comes out of the door she sees a familiar figure emerge from the car.

"Jinx!   What are you doing here?"

“Jinx!” she exclaims in amazement, “What are you doing here?”

He does not say anything at this time

He does not reply.

FLASHBACK . . .

Jinx walks away along the High Street, leaving Ffion and Arwen

. . . to the last time Jinx was seen in Cwmderi,

on 16 June 2015

The questioning resumes

Back in the interview room, Dylan’s solicitor has now arrived, and the DI resumes his questioning, “When we arrested you, Dani Monk asked you about Jaclyn Parri being shot, and your response was, ‘Jaclyn was caught up in the wrong place at the wrong time.’

"Can you explain that statement?"

“Can you explain that statement?”

"My client was recorded without his knowledge"

The solicitor reminds the DI that her client was recorded without his knowledge, and that there would be all kinds of problems using that in court, suggesting that they should move on.

Dylan regards himself as untouchable

Dylan is wearing his cocky expression.

"You must feel awful, shooting you own sister"

“You must feel awful,” DI Wilkinson continues, “Shooting your own sister – how is Jaclyn now?”

Perhaps his defence is going to be 'mental problems'

Dylan crouches down and grins at the officer in a demented fashion.   The solicitor up again intervenes and mentions that at the beginning of the interview her client pointed out he had nothing to say.

"Knowing that Dani Monk is so scared of you"

The DI goes on, “It must hurt, knowing that Dani Monk is so scared of you that she would wear a wire to catch you.”

Dylan moves closer to the microphone, declares, “No comment,” and then laughs.

"You could have phoned, Jinx"

Inside Cysgod y Glyn, Ffion says that Jinx could have phoned, but he wanted to talk to her face to face.   She thinks that sounds ominous,

"Taid has died"

and he announces, “Taid [grandfather] has died – he was ill for a long time – it was for the best in the end.”

"I should have been in contact more often"

She demands why he did not say anything, and acknowledges that she should have been in contact with him more often.

"It was a strain by the end"

Jinx goes on, “It was a strain by the end – I looked after him for a few years – it wasn’t easy, but I was happy to do it.   It was a chance to get to know each other properly – you could almost say I enjoyed it.

"It's water under the bridge now"

“I should have contacted you – it’s water under the bridge.   How are you?”

She replies that she is still going,

"You've been through a lot – Sheryl, Gethin"

and he realises that she has been through a lot since he last saw her;  “Sheryl, Gethin I’m surprised you’re so well – I would have lost it completely.”

"How's your love life, then?"

Ffion can see no point in looking back, but asks what else he has to tell her;  “How is your love life?”

"I haven't had a girlfriend for years"

He admits he has not had a girlfriend for years;  “Its like the Gobi Desert, without the sun and the ants.”

There are signs of a struggle . . .

In the Deri flat, a cartoon is playing on the television and a chair has been knocked over;

. . . and Dani is not there

Garry surveys the scene and calls Dani’s name, but there is no reply.

Garry tries to contact Dani . . .

He takes out his phone and dials Dani’s number;

. . . but her phone, and that of Gwern, have been left behind

a phone on the table sounds.   Now he is becoming extremely worried and shouts Gwern’s name;

Garry fears the worst

he appears to have an idea what has happened.

"Britt, are you sure Dani went home?"

He walks from the Deri and asks Britt, “Are you sure Dani went home?”  Then he demands if Tyler has seen her;  “If she was in the Deri, I wouldn’t be asking!”

"I spoke to her yesterday"

Tyler says he spoke to her yesterday.

"It's just that her phone was still there – and Gwern's"

“It’s just that her phone was still there!” Garry snarls, “And Gwern’s phone as well!”   Britt observes that he is surgically attached to that.

“It didn’t feel right – the chair was knocked over, the telly was on,” he adds, and Tyler fears that Dylan’s boys have done something.

"Perhaps they've taken her as revenge"

“If Dani shopped Dylan to the cops, perhaps they’ve taken her as revenge,” says Britt,

Garry contacts the police

and Garry immediately phones the police, explaining that someone is in trouble.

“Just give me a couple of names – people above you in the chain – perhaps I can work some kind of deal for you,” the DI proposes,

but Dylan simply laughs and repeats that he has no comment.

"I suggest that you release him"

“If you have no more questions for my client, I suggest that you release him,” says Dylan’s solicitor.

An interesting text arrives . . .

DI Wilkinson has just received a text which he appears to regard as significant;

. . . which Dylan finds disconcerting

he abruptly terminates the interview at 7:55pm, hurriedly leaving the room and telling Dylan to stay there.

"I want you to go and see Jaclyn"

Dylan instructs his solicitor to go and see Jaclyn.

"You know I can't influence witnesses"

“You know I cannot influence witnesses,” she protests, but he just wants her to give Jaclyn a phone.

"I'm paying you to do whatever I want!"

“I’m paying you to do whatever I want!” he stresses.

By the looks of things, Rhys is winning

Hywel and Rhys are playing a motor racing game, which Hywel appears to be losing;  “Just say if you can’t keep up!” Rhys laughs at him, “It’s a bit different to spreadsheets, isn’t it?”

Gaynor is trying to work

Gaynor is doing her best to work at the kitchen table,

"Rhys has made an appointment with a counsellor"

and Hywel mentions that Rhys has made an appointment with a counsellor.   She does not seem very interested, and he wonders if everything is all right.   “No, not really!” she snarls,

Gaynor is busy with school politics . . .

“I’ve had a nasty e-mail from parents, complaining that Miriam Morris hasn’t been suspended for pulling their daughter’s hair.   But I know that their daughter, Teleri, is the bully.   They say that Teleri’s mental health has been impacted and they want to appeal –

. . . which she maintains is a waste of time

“another night wasted on this politics!”

Hywel asks Rhys if he wants some crisps,

"Some parents do nothing by mollycoddle their children!"

and Gaynor sarcastically remarks, “Some parents do nothing but mollycoddle their children!”

Jaclyn hears a knock at the door

At number 10, there is a knock at the door and Jaclyn looks concerned;

She finds it is the solicitor . . .

she finds that it is Mair Adams, the solicitor, and opens the door.

. . . who wants a word

“I’ve come to talk to you, if it’s not inconvenient – it won’t take long, I promise.   I hear you’ve had a difficult time recently.”

"What do you want?"

Jaclyn demands what she wants;  “He hasn’t told them much yet, but he’s very worried about you, and he wants to talk to you.”   Jaclyn is adamant that she does not want to talk to Dylan.

"Now he needs you more than ever"

“He knows what he did to you is unforgivable, but he is your brother,” Mair goes on, “And he needs you now, more than ever.”

She takes a phone from her bag

She takes a phone from her bag and puts it down on the table.

"What the hell am I supposed to do with that?"

“What the hell am I supposed to do with that?” Jaclyn demands, and is told she should just answer it.   “If he thinks I’m going to change my story, tell him I won’t!   I have had enough of him, and the impact he has had on me and the family.”

"Remember Dylan is family as well"

Mair again points out that Dylan is also family and leaves the house.

DI Wilkinson arrives at the flat

DI Wilkinson arrives at the Deri flat,

"Of course I haven't moved anything  I'm not stupid!"

where everything has been left exactly as Garry found it;  to Tyler he comments, “You said your sister saw them a couple of hours ago?

"It's a bit early to worry"

“It’s a bit early to worry, then.”

"But enough of a reason to send a DI"

“But it’s enough of a reason to send the DI to look into it,” Garry tartly comments, “I can’t believe you let Dani come home to the kids, without even putting a car outside!”

"I'll make some enquiries"

The DI’s answer, that he will make some enquiries and will be in touch, is not acceptable to either Garry or Tyler.

"Are you just going to let him walk out?"

“Are you just going to let him walk out?” demands Tyler.

"Perhaps she's gone off somewhere to clear her head"

Garry points out that he is the expert, suggesting that perhaps Dani has gone off somewhere to clear her head;  “As you know, she’s done it before.”

Tyler, however, is convinced that it is different this time and that something has happened;  “We’re just wasting our time talking!”

Now there is a hammering on the door . . .

There is a repeating banging on the door of number 10,

. . . so Jaclyn arms herself

so Jaclyn arms herself with a bread knife, but when she hears Tyler’s voice, she puts it away again.

"Have you seen Dani and the kids?"

“Have you seen Dani and the kids?” he asks, “They were supposed to be in the Deri, but they’re not there!”   She says that she has not left the house today.

"Dylan's clearly involved"

“Dylan’s clearly involved – so if you know anything,” he rages, “Would he hurt her?”

"He would never hurt the baby"

Jaclyn emphasises that he would not hurt the baby.

“Please, if you know anything . . .” he implores her, and again she promises that she knows nothing.

"The worst day for this village was when he arrived!"

“The worst day for this village was the day your brother arrived!” he exclaims, and walks out of the house.

When the phone rings, she turns it off

The phone on Jaclyn’s table rings;  she picks it up and after turning it off, places it in a drawer.

"Have you been to see Hywel or Iolo?"

Ffion asks Jinx, “Have you been to see Hywel yet – or Iolo?”   He replies that he was waiting for the right moment to knock on her door,

"I didn't want Arwen to be here"

as he did not want Arwen to be there.   “Why not – she’d love to see you – she still talks about you often –

"You were a big part of her life"

“you were a big part of her life.   That reminds me, I better fetch her – she’s having dinner with Siôn.”

Jinx hands over the car keys

“Before you go, these are for you,” Jinx tells her, producing the keys for the car outside, “And not just the keys – you own the car as well.   Taid wanted you to have it.”

"I don't drive any more"

She protests that he was the one helping, and is forced to admit that she no longer drives;

"I never went anywhere"

“I got rid of the car and my licence a while ago,” but she does not reveal the true reason.   “With the lockdown, I never went anywhere – and I’ve become more aware of my impact on the environment.”

"I don't know how much you'll get for it"

Jinx tells her to keep the car;  “You can sell it – mind you, I don’t know how much you’ll get for it.”

"How long are you going to be around"

She wonders how long he is going to be around,

"I'm staying at a B&B a few nights"

and he says he is staying in a B&B in Llanelli for a few nights.

"You can stay here!"

“You can stay here – people will be glad to see you,” she urges him, but he has to look at a few flats tomorrow as well.   So you’re planning on staying here for a while, then?” Ffion realises,

"I've got a few irons in the fire"

and he says that he has a few irons in the fire.

"Come on – why would you stay on your own?"

“Come on – why would you stay in a B&B on your own when you can stay here with Arwen and me?” she pleads, “And talk about Ariane Grande and BTS.” [a boy band from South Korea, apparently]   “I’ve calmed down, Jinx – and I know that before you left, things were . . . well, you got hurt – but please, I don’t want things to be awkward between us!

"The bed is made in the spare room"

“The bed is made in the spare bedroom – it would be nice to catch up properly – please.”

"All right – just for tonight"

He agrees, adding, “Just for tonight – thanks Ffion.”

She has not looked so happy for a while

She looks very happy.

The DI restarts the interview

DI Wilkinson comes back into the interview room, accompanied by Mair Adams;  he is carrying something in an evidence bag, and the interview is resumed at 8:50pm.

"How angry?   That's what I'd like to know"

“Who are you working with, Dylan?   You must be angry that Dani worked with us.”   The solicitor points out that her client has made a statement, but the DI continues, “But how angry?   That’s what I’d like to know.   Angry enough to call in a favour?”

"I want to know what he's talking about"

Dylan begins to look uneasy as the DI goes on, “If you know anything – if you know where they are, now is the time to say.”   Dylan wants to know what he is talking about, and is informed, “Dani, Gwern and Seren – nobody knows where they are.”"

"Because I'm stuck in here with you!"

“I don’t know where they are – because I’m stuck here with you!” Dylan shouts, “They must have run away to hide.”   DI Wilkinson wonders if she would have done that without her phone or her car.

Seren's blanket is produced

Then he produces the item of evidence;  “Is that Seren’s blanket?

That wipes the smile off Dylan's face

and the look on Dylan’s face changes.   “We found it on the side of the road on the way out of the village.

"It's time to start talking now, Dylan"

It’s time to start talking now, Dylan, because we think someone has kidnapped Dani and the children.”
