"Actually, I'm here to see Gaynor"

Jinx visits Llwyncelyn, but is told by Colin that Hywel is not there;  it transpires that he actually wants to see Gaynor.

"We're waiting for a call from the coroner"

Colin explains that they are waiting for an important call from the coroner.

Gaynor is staring fixedly at photos of Izzy

Gaynor appears to be in another world as she stares at photographs of Izzy on the sideboard.

"I wanted to say how much Izzy meant to me"

Jinx continues, “I wanted to say how much Izzy meant to me – she was full of life, wasn’t she?”

Colin is in tears and Jinx sympathises

Colin again breaks down in tears, and Jinx can sympathise, having recently lost his grandfather, although he realises that the situations are cpmpletely different;  “Grief affects us all in different ways, doesn’t it?”

"I'd like you to speak at the funeral"

Colin replies, “I’d like someone like you to speak about Izzy when . . . it’s time for . . . her funeral – someone who really knew her, you know.   I think you’d be perfect – don’t you, Gaynor?”

"I just wish you'd stop talking about her"

She just wishes that they would stop talking about Izzy all the time and storms out of the room.

"I'll go and give you some peace"

Jinx will go and give them some peace,

Gaynor sits on the stairs

and Gaynor sits on the stairs with her head in her hands.

"Have you come to apologise – again?"

Jaclyn calls at Y Felin again and Tesni asks her, “Have you come to apologise – again?”

Jaclyn investigates the horses

Jaclyn wonders what all the boxes are for, and it is explained,

"Their own little Fflam"

“With the statue being built, I thought people might like their own little Fflam – we can sell them in the shop.”

Her mother points out that the horses are all different;  Tesni remarks, “They’re just samples, so we can decide which one we like.   Anyway, what do you want?   Do you want me to join the ‘Live Stream Queen’ in her feed?”

"I've never been so embarrassed in my life"

Jaclyn says she has never been so embarrassed in her life, but has an offer for Tesni;

Tesni – and Siôn – are invited to the Deri

“I was thinking it would be nice if you both came to the Deri for a drink – you and Siôn.   I’ve had time to think – and if you’ve found someone who makes you happy, I won’t stand in your way – and I miss you, too.”

"Promise not to 'Live Stream' from the Deri?"

“Do you promise not to ‘Live Stream’ from the Deri?” Tesni wonders.

Siôn comes out of the bookshop

Siôn is just leaving ‘Y Winllan’ when he sees Hywel;  “I don’t have time now, Siôn,” he protests, but Siôn informs him that the horse historian has been in touch.

"She's never heard the story about Fflam"

“She said she’s never heard the story about Fflam, or the accident in the pit.”

"Historians don't know everything, do they?"

Hywel’s response is that historians do not know everything, but is told, “With such a serious accident there would be articles and reports –

"I think the story may be pure fiction"

“I think that this story may be pure fiction.”

“Does it matter if we create a name and a story, to celebrate a chapter in our history?” demands Hywel,

"They never found an elephant in Tregaron"

“It worked in Tregaron – they never found an elephant’s body!   Ask your historian about that.”

[In 1848 a travelling menagerie visited Tregaron as part of its seasonal round of the towns of Wales.   An elephant was taken ill and died and was reputedly buried in the back garden of the Talbot Inn.   Whether or not this story is true, the Tregaron elephant has become the stuff of local lore and the elephant has acquired mythical status.]

"Where would he have gone with little Ifan?"

Outside the Deri, Anita asks Kelly if she has heard from Jason;  “Where would he have gone with little Ifan?   Do you think you can contact Sara to see if she knows anything?”

"I don't want to think about it"

Kelly answers that she does not know where he is and does not want to think about it.

As Anita sees someone approaching, Kelly turns and is surprised to see her mother, Anita’s sister, Amanda.

Kelly's mother appears . . .

“How are things with Jason, Kel?” she says, and Kelly immediately decides she needs to spend a few hours in the office.

. . . and Kelly immediately disappears

“Nice one!” she snarls at Anita as she goes.

Anita enquires what her sister wants;

"Are yo back in contact with Mickey Phillips?"

“Kelly said you’re back in contact with Mickey Phillips – is that true?” she demands, and although Anita insists that it is none of her business,

"Yes, I am"

she confirms that she is.   Amanda look concerned;

"Could we go somewhere a little more private?"

“Do you think we could go somewhere a little more private?” she asks.

"I'm trying to decide between these two models"

At Y Felin, Siôn complains about the mess, and Tesni explains that it is just a couple of boxes;  I’m trying to decide between these two models.”

"I'm not in the mood to discuss Fflam"

He says he is not in the mood to discuss Fflam this afternoon, so she remarks that she has something that may cheer him up.

"Mam invited us for  drink in the Deri"

“A drink in the Deri – Mam came over to invite us – both of us.”

"As I said, I'm not in the mood"

Again he say that he is not in the mood, but she adds, “She’s promised to be nice and she seemed genuine – you’re always saying that family’s important.”

"What time are we expected?"

Siôn enquires what time they are expected there,

"We should cancel the order"

but insists that they should cancel the order;

"I thought you loved the idea"

Tesni had been under the impression that he loved the idea, but he maintains that things have changed.

“It’s a great opportunity to build the brand – what’s the problem?” she asks,

"I doubt that Fflam every existed"

and he says that he doubts that Fflam ever existed;

This makes Tesni laugh

Tesni laughs.

Amanda casts her eye over Bryntirion and points out, “The decor is very flowery.”

"This house belongs to Dai and Diane . . ."

Anita replies that the house belongs to Dai and Diane, who do not have the same tastes as her,

". . .but you're not here to talk about wallpaper"

but knows that her sister is not there to talk about wallpaper.

“I’m glad Kelly’s not here – I want to discuss something with you – it’s about Mickey,” Amanda continues.

“Well, you don’t have to hide anything from Kelly because she knows everything and she’s happy for me,” Anita says;  Amanda is surprised that Kelly has spoken to him.

"Yes, she recognised him"

“Yes, she recognised him, and remembered going to play with his kids next door.   I don’t remember exactly what he said to her – I know you don’t like him, but you have to admit, you’ve always been rather jealous because he chose me instead of you.”

"I don't want him anywhere near my daughter!"

Amanda furiously denies that, but is told that she has never been able to hide it;  “I don’t want him anywhere near my daughter!” she snarls, and Anita regards that as ridiculous, just turning up and making demands.

"Mickey is Kelly's father"

“Mickey is Kelly’s father!” Amanda announces,

This some as something of a shock to Anita

and Anita is astounded.

"I was expecting you to be more upset"

“I was expecting you to be more upset about the models,” says Siôn in the Deri,

"I was completely fooled"

and Tesni admits she was completely fooled;  “Exactly,” he goes on, “I’m not sure if we can carry on with a plan that’s based on lies.”

"He is the  symbol of thousands of other horses"

She wonders what it matters if that one specific horse did not exist – insisting that he is a symbol of thousands of other horses.

“But what if the truth comes to light?” Siôn worries, and she warns that he needs to chill out a bit.   Then Jaclyn tells them that there has been a slight change of plan,

"I couldn't do anything about it"

and whispers that she could not do anything about it.

"Who wants a drink?"

The problem is in the form of Griffiths;  he asks, “Who wants a drink?” and Tesni is not at all pleased to see him.

"I knew it was a mistake to come here"

Amanda is about to storm out of the house, declaring that it was a mistake to come, but Anita is anxious to know whether it was a one-off;

"Were you having a relationship with him?"

“Or were you having a relationship while he was with me?   What was it then?   An immaculate conception?   You do know that Kelly needs to be told the truth? – and so does Mickey.   Unless he already knows, and you’ve kept this secret from me.”

"He's never going to find out!" — famous last words

Amanda is adamant, “He doesn’t know and he’s never going to find out, do you hear?”   Her sister shouts that she cannot play God with people’s lives, but Amanda insists that is not what she was trying to do.   “I was just . . .”

"If you don't tell Kelly, I will!"

Anita shouts even louder, “You have to tell Kelly – if you don’t, I will!   I understand now why you haven’t been able to tell her all these years – well, Amanda,

"You can't keep something this important from her"

“you can’t keep something this important from her!”

Jinx receives an e-mail

Jinx is looking at an e-mail from the Welsh Presbyterian Church when Ffion comes into the room;  she was not expecting to see him there,

"Looking for an exotic holiday?"

and wonders if he is looking for an exotic holiday somewhere.   “Not quite,” he replies, and she looks at what is on the screen.

"You're not serious about this, are you?"

“Jinx, you’re not serious about doing this, are you?” she demands, but he points out that she was aware he has been considering it for a while.

"I thought you'd forget about it"

“But I thought that it was just one of your ideas, and that you’d forget about it,” she goes on.

"I'm convinced that is what I want to do"

He says that he was talking to Colin and Gaynor earlier, and being able to offer them some sort of comfort at such a difficult time has convinced him that is what he wants to do.   “You can still offer comfort without it being religious,” she replies,

Ffion is implacably opposed to the idea

“Ministers – they’re . . . it’s a stupid idea, OK?”

Amanda begins her tale of woe

Amanda explains, “I was on a night out in Swansea – I’d been drinking all afternoon with friends.   We went to this place at the top of the Kingsway and I lost everyone.   That’s when I saw Mickey – he was talking to a group of girls – they were all over him like a rash!   I tried not to let him see me – I knew that you and he had something special.”

Anita does not appear very sympathetic

Anita has been looking critically at her about this account, and Amanda goes on, “I turned around and there he was, right in front of me, all smiles, and when I told him I’d lost my friends,

"He said I should go back to his hotel"

“he put his arm around me, saying that I should go back to his hotel to stay safe.”

Anita can imagine what comes next

Anita sighs at her naïvety and Amanda points out that she did not have enough money for a taxi, she was on her own and ‘a little bit’ drunk, so she did not have much choice.   “I went with him to the hotel bar – one drink led to another – and another.   I was enjoying the company, enjoying the banter – and when the bar closed,

"I didn't want anything to happen, I promise"

“he said we could have one more drink in his room – I didn’t want anything to happen, I promise, Anita!”

"I remember him sitting close to me"

“I remember him sitting close to me – too close – our legs were touching as we sat on the bed – although I’d known him for ages, he looked different.   I remember a voice inside me telling me to run – but when you’re frightened like that, you convince yourself that everything will actually be OK.

"I didn't have the power to stop it"

“I knew what was going to happen, but I didn’t have the power to stop him – I’m talking about one night 37 years ago and I remember it as if it were yesterday.

"Mickey Phillips raped me!"

“It needs to be said – Mickey Phillips raped me!”

By now they are both in tears

Both of them are now in tears.

"That's rather formal, Mam"

In the Deri, Jaclyn thanks her daughter for coming there this afternoon, which Tesni  regards as rather formal;  “You know what I’m trying to say – I know things haven’t been very good between us lately.
"You're always welcome in out house"

I’m just glad we can start again – you’re always be welcome in our house – the door is always open.”

"Y Felin is my home now, and I'm happy"

Tesni reminds her mother that Y Felin is her home now;  “Honestly, Mam, I’m happy.”

"She's a nice girl"

Meanwhile at the bar, Griffiths comments that Tesni is a nice girl,

"Woman!"

but Siôn corrects him, “Woman,” and he sniggers, asking how long they have been . . .   “A couple of weeks,” Siôn replies.

Ieuan makes snide remarks

“I was trying to work out the time between when Tesni and I stopped texting and you started,” Griffiths goes on.   Siôn stresses that they are in a relationship,

"Power ballads are the way to go"

and when Tesni joins them Griffiths makes the excuse that they were talking about Jaclyn and her future;  “I was saying that power ballads are the way to go,” but Jaclyn overhears.

"I've got a lot of work to do"

Siôn has had enough of this and quickly leaves the pub.

Griffiths tries to persuade him to stay;  “You can stay for a couple of drinks with me and Hazel,” then corrects himself.

"I didn't think today could get any more awkward"

Tesni also leaves, remarking, “I didn’t think today could get any more awkward.”   Griffiths also seems eager to follow them out of the door,

"You – stay there!"

but Jaclyn instructs him to stay there.

"You remind me of Hazel a little bit"

“I can’t deny the fact that you remind me of Hazel a little bit,” he says, and it is obvious to Jaclyn that he misses her,

"We're business partners – nothing more!"

but she makes it crystal clear that they are business partners and nothing more.

Hywel arrives at Llwyncelyn

Hywel returns to Llwyncelyn, where Gaynor is looking at her phone and tells him that Colin left because he had things to do in the flat;

"I would have told you if there was any news"

“I would have told you if there was any news,” she growls.

Gaynor's phone rings . . .

Then her phone rings,

. . . but she appears mesmerised

but she is very reluctant to answer it;

"Yes, I'm the mother of Esyllt Evans"

when she finally does so, she confirms her identity and that she is the mother of Esyllt Evans.

Tesni is furious about Griffiths

Back at Y Felin, Tesni angrily says, “Remind me to warn Mam not to invite Griffiths for a drink ever again!”   Siôn is more than happy to do that,

"I've got those horses to send back"

and then she realises she has the horses to pack up and post back;  she would appreciate some help.

"Don't you think the village needs a symbol of hope?"

“Don’t you think the village needs a symbol of hope?   It’s not as if we’re spreading fake news – it’s more like creating a brand-new local legend.   It’s quite exciting, really!”

Siôn is being persuaded

Siôn is coming round to her way of thinking, and she emphasises, “It’s the young who know!”

"You choose which horse will give the village hope"

Siôn tells her to choose which horse she thinks will give the village of bit of hope;  “As you said, perhaps I need to chill out a bit.”

Something appears to be developing . . .

As they move closer to each other, a kiss appears to be in the offing,

. . . but, apparently, not this time

but it does not actually happen this time.

Gaynor arrives in a terrible state

Gaynor arrives at the chip shop flat;  “I don’t know what to do,” she sobs, and

"What's wrong, Gaynor?"

Colin wonders what is wrong;

"Colin, it was me!   I killed Izzy!"

“Colin, it was me!   I killed Izzy!”
