"There – £9,000 in cash!"

Garry throws down some bundles of notes, telling Dani that there is £9,000 in cash.

"We decided in £10,000, Garry"

Her response is that they decided on £10,000 and he reminds her, “You’ve had a thousand pounds’ worth of gifts over the years – good ones too.   What do you want – blood?”

"I just want what you owe me!"

“No, I don’t want blood – just what you owe me,” she replies, and Britt’s verdict is that this is becoming childish.

"She's being unreasonable"

Garry accuses Dani of being unreasonable and storms out of the flat.

"He's trying to be fair with you"

Britt stresses that he is trying to be fair with her, but Dani has other ideas;

"Just because I'm about to go pop!"

“He thinks I’m a soft touch because I’m about to go pop!”

Britt agrees to have a word with Garry, and insists that there is no point fighting over £1,000.

"Look at all that lovely money!"

Picking up the nine bundles of notes, Dani looks quite pleased with herself.

"You had so many plans, didn't you?"

In the shop flat, Mathew is looking at the portrait of himself and Izzy;  Colin remarks, “You had so many plans, didn’t you?”

"We even talked about having children"

and Mathew confirms that they had even talked about having children.   Colin would love to have been a grandfather.

"I'd found the perfect woman"

“I’d found the perfect woman,” Mathew continues

"Lois is coming home today"

and Colin informs him that Lois is coming home today;  perhaps he and she could organise something to remember Izzy.

"You cancelled the vigil"

“I had intended to do something at the vigil, but you cancelled it,” Mathew reminds him.

“I thought that was best at the time, because Lois could not be there,” Colin explains,

"Izzy and I loved each other"

but Mathew points out that he and Izzy loved each other.

"Sorry, I'm being insensitive, Math"

Colin confesses that he has being insensitive, and thanks Mathew for making her life happier than it ever was.   He says he might see Lois later, but will give the family some time together first

"Remember you're part of the family now"

“Remember, you are part of the family now,” Colin reminds him.

"I'm not hungry, Hywel"

At Llwyncelyn, Gaynor has prepared some food but does not want to eat it.

"I've moved my stuff into the spare room"

Rhys that he has moved his stuff into the spare room, assuming that Lois will be more comfortable in her old room.

"It might be better if she stays with her father"

“It might be better if she stays with her father – I don’t have very much to say,” Gaynor suggests,

"I'll be here to support you"

but Hywel emphasises that he will be here to support her.

"I'm off to the village"

She decides that she will go to village to meet Lois, and once again she does not want Hywel to go with her.

"Turning to her ex for comfort!"

He grumbles to Rhys, “Turning to her ex for comfort!”

Rhys points out that she is suffering, and his father wonders how he feels about meeting Lois for the first time in years.

"This isn't about us two, is it?"

“This isn’t about us two, is it?” Rhys points out.

Colin cwtches Izzy

Colin takes the bags from the back of the taxi, then warmly embraces his daughter;

"How are you, Dad?   Seriously"

she asks, “How are you, Dad?   Seriously.”

"Trying to come to terms with it"

He replies that he is trying to come to terms with it, slowly.

Mathew sees her and makes himself scarce

Mathew has just come out of the shop, and when he sees Lois, he quickly dodges into the alley.

Colin tells her that he is doing a few shifts in the shop next week.

Lois has missed him and her mother;  “How is she?   I’m worried about her,” she asks,

"I'm worried about her, too"

and her father admits he is also worried, predicting that Gaynor is probably on her way there now.

Then Izzy meets Rhys

As they are about to go round the corner to the chippy flat, they meet Rhys, who does not know what to say, but blurts out, “I’m so sorry – life is cruel sometimes.”

"Izzy used to tell me what you were up to"

Lois thanks him for his message of sympathy and asks how he is, recalling that Izzy used to tell her what he was up to;

"Yeah – I still haven't grown up!"

he confirms that he has still not grown up.

“She used to try and get me to settle down, like she did,” she remembers, and Rhys says she has the rest of her life to do that, which makes Colin think.   “She and Mathew suited each other perfectly,” Rhys adds.

"I can't believe Gwen with be 12 this year"

“I can’t believe that Gwen will be 12 this year,” says Lois [referring to the baby she and Rhys had, who was given up for adoption].   He remarks that time flies,

"I'll see you later"

and he will see her later, if she is staying at Llwyncelyn.

"Sorry to hear about Izzy"

Vicky is out for a morning run and comes across Mathew sitting on the bench in the alley;  she says she was sorry to hear about Izzy, and assures him that if there is anything she can do, he has only to ask.

"I'm not very good company at the moment"

He replies that he is not very good company at the moment.

Izzy's favourite biscuits are on the table

Colin and Lois arrive in the chippy flat, where there is a plate of her favourite biscuits on the table;

"Can I eat them all?"

“Thank you – can I eat all of them?” she asks, and he agrees that she can, just like every day when she came home from school.

He remembers that Izzy would go berserk, and asks whether she will stay there or at Llwyncelyn;  it does not matter to Lois that Rhys is living there.   Colin imagines that her mother will be glad of the company, then the buzzer sounds,

"She's taking a break from work"

and as Gaynor comes upstairs, Colin informs Lois that she is taking a break from work on the doctor’s advice.

Gaynor is very pleased to see Izzy

Gaynor is overjoyed to see her daughter

She hugs her daughter

and also hugs her, which makes Colin smile.

APD is getting some work from Mickey

Eifion arrives at Bryntirion, where Kelly informs him that APD has been asked to help build some houses;

"Someone needed to do the donkey work"

“Oh yeah – someone needed to do the donkey work,” he grumbles.

"Do you know Mickey Phillips?"

“Jason has had some discussions with the boss, Mickey Phillips – do you know him?   He’s a star – I’m doing an article on him for the Western Post.”

Eifion will come back later to see Jason, giving the excuse that he is choc-a-bloc at Deri Fawr at the moment;

"To please the animal rights brigade"

“I’m turning it carbon neutral to please the animal rights brigade.”   She points out that was ages ago,

"Why don't you 'rewild' it?"

and wonders why he does not ‘rewild’ it, so as to cut emissions and save wildlife – all at the same time.

“You might get a Christmas card from Greta Thunberg,” she adds,

That name does not seem to ring any bells

but he looks as if he does not know who that is.

Lois and her mother talk

Lois and her mother are talking about Izzy;  Lois intends to go to Thailand to meet Chaillai,

"She wore that friendship bracelet all the time"

and Colin is pleased to hear it.   “She wore that friendship bracelet all the time,” he says, and Lois knows that they supported each other.

"I was in touch with Izzy quite a lot"

She was in touch with Izzy quite a lot;  “Especially when she wanted to rant about something.”

"We had drifted apart"

Gaynor confesses that recently they had drifted apart, having the odd argument;  Lois knows about that, but tried not to take sides.

"I regret not making more of an effort"

“I regret not making more of an effort instead of being impatient all the time,” groans Gaynor,

"Izzy did love you, Mam"

but Lois urges her not to worry about it as Izzy did love her.   They were just too alike.

"Lois has to know, Gaynor"

Colin broaches the subject of the illness;  “She has to know,” he insists,

"That condition also affects me"

so Gaynor explains that the condition which caused Izzy’s death also affects her mother.

"You know it's in showroom condition"

Garry is on the phone, trying to finalise a sale, “Come on, you know it’s in showroom condition – with all the extras,” he says, “Do we have a deal – cash?

"Cash before the end of the week"

“Cash before the end of the week, or I’ll have to find someone else!”

"I'm selling the car"

He advises Britt that he is selling his car;  “The one you polish every Sunday morning?” she exclaims.

He maintains that he fancies a change;

"The car and the wife – both are knackered!"

“Get rid of the car and the wife – both are knackered.”   She appreciates that the divorce must have cost a fortune,

"You usually have enough cash"

but points out that he usually has enough cash.   Again he comes up with the story of an offshore account which cannot be touched until next year.

She does not for a moment believe that;  “You’ve never trusted banks – come on, let’s have the truth!”

"I used it up supporting the businesses"

He reveals that he used it all up to support the businesses during the pandemic,

"You had government help to do that"

but she points out he had government help to do that.

“It was nowhere near enough to pay everyone’s wages – especially Gerwyn, when you made him garage manager,” Garry complains, and she stresses that things improved in the garage, also the Deri takings are up.

"It will take years to recoup the money"

However he predicts that he will take years to recoup all the money.

She recommends that he should make things easier for himself and tell Dani, but he insists he does not want her pity.

"You're making me feel guilty, Gar"

“You’re making me feel guilty for spending thousands on your card,” she says,

"Everything's under control"

but he is confident that everything is under control.

"What is Long QT syndrome?"

Lois has been told about the situation and enquires, “What is Long QT syndrome?”

Gaynor explains it to her

Her mother explains that it is a heart conditioner that can cause an irregular heartbeat.

"Her heart couldn't cope"

Colin takes up the story, “The fact she went out for a run exacerbated it – her heart couldn’t cope.”   Gaynor says that she is fine and has had no problems since she was at school.   “But the condition could be hereditary,” Colin emphasises,

"I want to to see a specialist"

“I want you to see a specialist for peace of mind.”

Lois wonders if anyone else in the family has it – uncles or aunts – and if anyone else has died suddenly;

"I want the truth, Mam!"

“I want the truth, Mam!”

Colin is adamant that she is tested

Colin is still adamant that he wants his daughter to have this test.

"I didn't come here to have tests!"

“I’ve come home because my sister’s dead not to have tests!” Lois exclaims, “I’m going to see Mathew – I can’t deal with this now.”

"Did you have to mention the test right now"

Then Gaynor rounds on Colin, “Did you have to mention the test right now?”

"Lois' heath comes first!"

and he insists that Lois’ health comes first.

"OK, I'll be over in five minutes"

In the Deri, Rhys is on the phone to Mathew, trying to persuade him to come for a drink, and then concedes he will come to the flat in about five minutes.

"I know you're missing the posh coffee"

Mark tells Vicky, “I know you’re missing the posh coffee you have in London, but I can get you one from here every day.”   She reveals that she was going to stay anyway, because Nicky’s dad wants him to stay there for a few more weeks.

"There's a personal trainer over there"

He advises that if she wants a personal trainer, one is sitting over there, and calls to Rhys that there is another client here.

"Nice to see you again"

Rhys says it is nice to see her again and that she should get in touch via Facebook to arrange a few sessions.

"I have to go and see Mathew"

He cannot stay because he is going to see Mathew.

Vicky seems to be taking an interest

Vicky says that she tried to talk to him earlier, but he was not in the mood.

Mark warns her, “I know he’s good looking and he’s nice enough,

"Stay away from him – he's a bit of a dog"

“but stay away from him, understand?   He’s a bit of a dog.”

"Right, I'm going to look for Lois"

Colin is fed up with waiting and determines that he go and look for Lois;  Gaynor urges him to give her a bit of time with Mathew, so he sits down again.

"Didn't someone in you family die suddenly?"

“Didn’t someone in your family die suddenly?” he asks, “An uncle or aunt or something?”   She replies that she cannot remember, but he is sure of it.

“Perhaps they had the condition,” he wonders, but she says they did not discuss medical problems as a family.   “Do you know what?

"I'm going to phone Martin"

“Im going to phone Martin – he’s the expert on your family,” Colin decides.   Gaynor tells him not to be nosy,

"You're hiding something – again!"

and he realises that she is hiding something – again.

“You’re not protecting Lois by doing that,” he growls, and she is forced to confess there is no point in phoning Martin, because they are not related.

"I was adopted – happy now?"

She has no idea who her blood relatives are, as she was adopted;  she demands if he is happy now, and Colin is astounded.

"Vicky was asking about you"

In the shop flat, Rhys informs Mathew that Vicky was asking about him,

"We used to go out together"

and he admits that they used to go out with each other;  actually he adored her.

"I can understand why"

Rhys can understand why.   “We had plans to settle down, buy a house, have a family – exactly like me and Izzy,” Mathew explains, “But I ruined everything when I had a one night stand with Dani.   I would never have cheated on Izzy!”

Then Lois appears

Then Lois appears in the doorway, hoping that she is not disturbing them.

"You two need some time together"

Mathew invites her in and Rhys makes a hasty exit, insisting that they need some time together.

"Cup of tea?"

Mathew will make them a cup of tea.

"Happy now?"

Outside the Deri, Garry throws down another bundle of money;  “Happy now?” he demands.

"Garry found some cash under the mattress"

Dani tells Britt that Garry found some cash under the mattress, but now that is sorted, she can concentrate on the birth,

"Thanks, Garry"

and thanks him for his generosity.

Eifion wants an electric pickup

Eifion comes out of the Deri, asking Garry to find him an electric pickup, but is told that the garage has closed down.   “No problem – I’ll go to a dealer in town,” he replies,

"You'll need a mortgage to buy one"

and is informed that he will need a mortgage to buy one.

"There's plenty of money in Deri Fawr"

Eifion is confident that there is plenty of money in Deri Fawr.

"Where did I go wrong, Britt?"

“Where did I go wrong, Britt?” Garry groans.

"It doesn't change me as a person"

Gaynor and Colin arrive back at Llwyncelyn, still arguing;  “The fact I was adopted doesn’t change me as a person,” she insists, “I’ve always been happy with who I am – I had a great home with fantastic parents.”

"You had the perfect chance when Lois gave Gwen away"

“You had the perfect chance to tell Lois when she gave Gwen away,” Colin tells her, but Gaynor has never felt like a child who was adopted, and that is why she never searched for her birth parents.

"Have you told Hywel?"

Colin wonders if she has told Hywel.

"No – and I don't intend to!"

“No – and I don’t intend to,” she determinedly replies, and instructs Colin not to tell Lois, either;  “I don’t want to upset her even more – when the time is right, I’ll tell her everything.”

"It's a bit late for Izzy!"

“It’s a bit late for Izzy!” he declares, “I’ve always supported you, Gaynor, but you’ve gone too far this time!”

"Well, you know the truth now"

She cannot understand why he is so angry, as he knows the truth now.

"I wasn't important enough"

“All those years we were married – and I wasn’t important enough for you to share that secret with me!   And it’s not just the adoption, but this condition you have – you had a responsibility to tell me!”

"I'm sorry"

She sighs that she is sorry and he stresses that if Izzy have known from the start she had this condition, she could have had the best medical care possible;

"Instead, our little girl is dead!"

“She might still be with us now – but instead, our little girl is dead!

“You’re responsible for that, Gaynor – you!

"It's true, isn't it?"

“It’s true, isn’t it?  And you know that, too.”
