| A motorcycle arrives in the village |
A motorcycle comes past the bus shelter and pulls up outside Hywel’s house. Britt is just coming out of the door of the flat and takes an interest;

| Britt wants to know what is going on . . . |
“Hello, can I help you?” she shouts.
 |
| . . . especially when she finds it is DI Wilkinson |
Then the rider takes off his helmet and is revealed to be none other than DI Wilkinson.
 |
| He knocks on the door |
She is rather surprised as he knocks on the door of the house;
 |
| "Is the investigation going all right?" |
“Is the investigation going all right?” she asks, and he says that it is, as far as he knows. “Are you looking for more evidence?” she continues, and he replies that he is not.
 |
| He goes into the house |
The door opens and he goes inside.
 |
| "We're treating the lambs' feet today" |
Sioned comes downstairs at the farm and urges her mother, “Come on – we’re treating the lambs’ feet this morning!”
 |
| "I did that while you were snoring" |
Eileen tells her to relax, because she has already done it while her daughter was still snoring. Now Sioned can concentrate on her café plans.
 |
| "Have you got a red leotard, Superwoman?" |
“Have you got a red leotard under those clothes, Superwoman?” exclaims Sioned, but her mother gives the excuse that she woke up early. “I’ll go and look at wooden huts that are available for the café, then – I’ll be out most of the day, if that’s OK,” says Sioned as she leaves.

| "Lunch will be on the table at one o'clock" |
As soon as she has gone, Eileen rings DJ; “Nobody can farm on empty stomach – lunch will be on the table at one o’clock.”
 |
| "I wasn't sure you would come" |
Garry comes into the Deri flat, clutching the divorce papers; Dani was not sure that he would come,
 |
| "We can't have a divorce if you don't sign them" |
and demands if he has signed them. “Not yet,” he replies. She points out that they cannot have a divorce if he does not sign.
 |
| Kelly is washing-up |
Kelly is busy doing the washing-up when there is a knock at the door;
 |
| Mickey is on the doorstep |
she opens it to find that it is Mickey,
 |
| "Is Anita there?" |
who asks if Anita is there. “OK, I don’t get it!” she says, “You finish with her, and then you rock up with flowers!
 |
| "Dumping by text is not cool!" |
“And, for your information, dumping by text is not cool!”
As she slams the door in his face, he informs her that he has not dumped anyone, but Anita finished with him.
 |
| Kelly looks cynical |
The door is reopened and he would like to wait for her to come back; “I’d like to try to get to to change her mind.” Kelly wears her cynical look.
 |
| "We're going to sort this out like adults" |
Dani informs Garry, “We’re going to sort this out like adults – avoiding court would save a lot of money. Do you agree? Sign it then!”
 |
| He does not appear in any hurry to sign |
He does not appear to be willing to do so.
 |
| "If Sioned comes back, I'll hide under the table" |
At Penrhewl, DJ and Eileen have just finished lunch, and he promises, “Don’t worry – if Sioned comes back, I’ll hide under the table.”
 |
| "You need to look at the tractor" |
She sternly tells him that this is not a game, adding, “While I remember, you need to take a look at the tractor – it's not starting properly.”
 |
| That has already be sorted out |
He answers that it is now that he has sorted it, and he has started opening a few ditches as well.
 |
| "I told you I'm going to prove myself" |
“I told you that I was here to prove myself – and that’s what I’m going to do,” he declares. Eileen reminds him that it is still early days, and instructs him to go, as she does not want Sioned to see him. “Thank you for the lunch – I’ve missed your steak and kidney pie,” he says.
 |
| "Bring your dirty clothes tomorrow" |
She invites him to bring his dirty clothes tomorrow, and she will put them in the wash.
 |
| DI Wilkinson has had a tour of the house |
As they emerge from the house, Hywel is pleased that the DI likes the place; “There’s plenty of access for the bike through the back – any problem, just phone me. And thank you for paying the deposit so quickly.”

| "He's not moving in here, is he?" |
Mark comes out of the pub next door and seems very agitated; “He’s not moving in here, is he?” Hywel informs him that DI Wilkinson is renting the house, but Mark continues, “That’s not right – he’s working on Dylan’s case –

| "That's a conflict of interest" |
“it’s a conflict of interest.”
 |
| "I'm not working on that case now" |
The DI advises, “I’m not working on that case now – there’s been a reshuffle in the department.” Hywel is about to leave, then realises he has not introduced them;

| "Mark, this is Mark" |
they discover that they are both named Mark.
 |
| Mark is even more unhappy about the situation |
They glower at each other for a moment, then go into the respective buildings.
 |
| "I'm too upset, Cassie" |
Cassie asks, “What can I get you, Mark? A pint?” He declines the offer, saying that he is too upset; Cassie assumes that this is something to do with his mother, but he explains the situation.
“Hywel is renting his house to a policeman – this is what it will be like – he will be living among us every day!”

| "He has to live somewhere, Mark" |
Cassie points out that he has to live somewhere; “But why here?” growls Mark.
 |
| "So he can keep an eye on you, obviously" |
Jason is at the end of the bar, and suggests, “So that he can keep an eye on you, Mark, obviously. I’ve priced that job for you,” and explains to Cassie, “Mark is going to buy the house next door and knock the wall down between the two –

| "One mega Maes-y-Deri!' |
“to make one mega Maes-y-Deri!”
Mark wants to know how much,
 |
| "£70,000 – I told you it wouldn't be cheap" |
and is told, “£70,000 – I told you it wouldn’t be cheap, didn’t I? Anyway I thought Brynmor was paying – that’s what you told me.”
 |
| "That was before I knew they weren't coming home" |
“That was before I knew they were not coming home,” Mark moans,
 |
| "The job is off – for now, anyway" |
“The job is off – for now, anyway.”
 |
| "Please, why won't you sign it?" |
Dani is becoming frustrated; “Garry, please, why won’t you sign it?”
 |
| "You're putting too much pressure o me" |
He argues that she is putting too much pressure on him.
 |
| "50–50 sounds fair to me" |
“We’ve agreed to split everything 50–50. That sounds fair to me,” she insists.
 |
| "It's not that simple, Dani" |
He growls that it is not that simple, but she spells out that it is;
 |
| "I get this flat, the salon and number 7" |
“I get this flat, the salon and number 7 – you get the Deri, the garage, the chippy.” He shouts that he just needs time to work things out, and she shouts back at him, “I’ve got a baby on the way and I don’t want you dragging your feet!”
Then, more calmly, she adds, “Things will be much easier this way for both of us, so please . . .”

| Dani offers him a pen . . . |
She offers him a pen, but he obstinately takes out his own,
 |
| . . . but he uses his own |
looks at her and finally signs the papers.
 |
| "Not for you, perhaps!" |
She comments that it was not that difficult, as he grabs his jacket and walks out, snarling, “Not for you, perhaps!”
 |
| "Do you want a cup of coffee?" |
Kelly has put the flowers in water and Mickey sits on the sofa, not saying a word; he refuses a cup of coffee. “Are you sure, because I used to run a café,
 |
| "I make a mean Americano" |
“and I make a mean Americano,” she says. He asks what happened, and she groans, “The pandemic!”
 |
| "So many more people have come to the bank" |
He remarks it has been a difficult time for a lot of people; “So many more people have come to the bank for help.”
 |
| "Food bank, is it?" |
She assumes he means a food bank,
 |
| "Every child deserves to have something to open" |
but he explains, “A gift bank – you know how it is for families with things so tight.”
Kelly appreciates that, and he goes on, “Every child deserves to have something to open on Christmas Day or their birthday.”
 |
| "I remember when I was six, like" |
She agrees, “You’re spot-on, actually – I remember when I was, like, six and it was my birthday – I got a colouring book which had already been covered in and a manky doll from the car boot sale. It was a nightmare, honestly, but I guess Mam couldn’t afford anything else.”
He enquires about her father, and she sighs, “I’ve never even met Dad, never mind getting a present from him.

| "I think what you do is fantastic" |
“Do you know – I think what you do is fantastic – would you share your story? I work for the Western Post – we’re always looking for inspirational stories.”

| "I'm not an inspiration to anyone" |
Mickey protests that he is not an inspiration to anyone,
 |
| "It would be an amazing promotion for the bank" |
but Kelly is sure that it would make an interesting story – and it would be an amazing promotion for the bank. “When you put it like that . . .” he replies, “But nothing big, you understand – I’m not blowing my own trumpet.”
“Yeah, OK, no trumpet blowing, I promise – just, I don’t know, like, a two- or three-page spread, and a massive photo of you on the front page!” Kelly proposes,

| "Don't you dare, Kelly!" |
and he warns her not to dare.
 |
| Then Anita arrives |
At that moment, Anita comes in and glares angrily at him.
 |
| "He's been telling me how you finished with him" |
“Mickey’s been telling me how you finished with him,” Kelly informs her, and he had been under the impression they were getting on well.
 |
| "I don't want another relationship" |
Anita makes it very clear that she does not want another relationship. “Why say that he finished with you, then?” Kelly demands.
Anita maintains that it was simply to shut Kelly up, but she is adamant that they were good together and that she wants them to be happy. Anita points out that she is happy on her own, and wants Mickey to leave immediately;

| Anita is very keen to see the back of him |
“There’s nothing more to say, so thank you,” she insists as she opens the door for him.
Kelly shouts, “Hang on!” but Mickey is willing to leave, if that is what Anita wants,
 |
| "It's a shame, Anita" |
but his final comment is that it is a shame.
 |
| "Not another word – end of!" |
Kelly is about to remonstrate with her aunt, but is told, “Not another word – end of!”
 |
| "But why is he here?" |
Mark is still agonising about the new arrival in the village; “But why is he here? That’s what I’d like to know – and nobody’s allowed to call him ‘Mark’!” Dani stresses that is his name, but Mark proposes that he should be called ‘DI’ or ‘Wilko’.
 |
| "And Wilko said he's not working on Dylan's case?" |
“Are you sure Wilko said he’s not working on Dylan’s case?” asks Dani, but Mark does not believe it,
 |
| "He's working undercover" |
and suspects that he is working undercover.
“Or perhaps he just needs somewhere to live,” the DI suggests, as he comes in through the door.
 |
| "You were discussing why I'm here" |
“You were discussing why I am here – a black coffee, please,” he asks Cassie.
 |
| "He'll be sneaking up on us all the time!" |
“See – this is how it will be from now on,” mutters Mark, “We won’t be able to relax in our own pub – he’ll be sneaking up on us all the time!”
 |
| "He can sneak up on me any time!" |
Cassie answers, “He can sneak up on me any time!” and Mark continues to complain that Hywel Llywelyn has ruined the village; he maintains they should call a meeting. Cassie tells him to be quiet and drink his pint,

| Mark decides to leave . . . |
but he has been put off and leaves the Deri.
 |
| . . .while Cassie and Dani snigger about it |
His attitude amuses Cassie and Dani.
 |
| "Mark, I've got some news" |
Outside, Mark walks past the motorbike and Sioned calls to him; “Mark, I’ve got some news,” but he grumbles that he already knows. “About the café? How?” she demands, and he tells her about Wilko.
 |
| "We're opening Cae Glas Café on the farm" |
“Anyway we’re opening Cae Glas Café on the farm – spread the word. I know it’s early days, but I want to create a buzz!” Mark regards it as a change from the Deri,
 |
| "What's a change from the Deri?" |
and Garry, who happens to be passing, wonders what will be a change from the Deri.
“The new Cae Glas Café,” Sioned informs him,
 |
| "It would be nicer if people supported village businesses" |
and he replies that it would be a lot nicer if people supported the businesses in the village rather than competing against them.
“Oh, I see – only Garry Monk is allowed to build an empire, is he?
 |
| "If I want to open a café, that's exactly what I'll do!" |
“Listen, if I want to open a café, that’s exactly what I’ll do!” Sioned insists, “You can’t stop me!”
 |
| Garry sounds depressed |
Garry moans to Mark, “Dani wants half of everything and Sioned wants to destroy what’s left!” Mark asks how the divorce is going,
 |
| "I can't wait to get rid of her – on and on and on!" |
and he replies, “I can’t wait to get rid of her – on and on and on!”
 |
| "No-one can talk about Dani like that!" |
Mark takes issue with him; “I know it’s upsetting, but no-one can talk about Dani like that – not even you!” Garry enquires if the lawnmower is still working,
 |
| "Come and cut the grass – and I want a decent job" |
and instructs him to cut the grass behind the Deri; he will be rewarded with a couple of cans, but requires it to be a decent job.
 |
| "You know me, Garry" |
“Of course it will be a good job – you know me!” Mark protests.
 |
| "That's what I'm worried about" |
 |
| "Binkin' Garry Monk!" |
Sioned returns to the farmhouse, where her mother is drinking a cup of tea, and rages, “Blinkin’ Garry Monk – he was complaining about us opening a café. It’s hard to know which of the wooden huts to choose.”
 |
| "I see you've been entertaining" |
Then she notices two plates awaiting washing-up, and suspects her mother has been entertaining; “Jaclyn had lunch with me,” is Eileen’s excuse, and Sioned was not aware that she was working today.
She is now about to go and clear some blocked ditches, but again her mother tells her that she has already done it.

| "Superwoman deserves a nice dinner . . ." |
“Mam, you’re ‘on it’ today!” Sioned exclaims, “I think Superwoman deserves a nice dinner.
 |
| ". . . I'll go to the chip shop" |
“You’ve done the work of two people today – I’ll go to the chip shop.” Eileen will warm the plates.
 |
| Garry delves into the filing cabinet . . . |
In the garage, Garry takes an envelope from the filing cabinet,
 |
| . . . and finds his cash reserves are dwindling |
and throws the meagre number of notes that it contains on to the desk.
 |
| "I'll take it if you don't want it" |
Mark comes in and comments, “I’ll take it if you don’t want it! I know going through a divorce is difficult, but I’m sure Dani will be fair with you.”
 |
| "Things are a bit tight, that's all" |
Garry groans, “It’s not the divorce – things are a bit tight, that’s all.” Mark is surprised to hear that coming from Garry, and wonders if he wants to borrow some money;
 |
| "I could lend you a couple of hundred" |
he is sure that he could stretch to a couple of hundred.
 |
| "You're a good boy, Mark" |
Garry smiles, “Mark, you’re a good boy – I’m sure I shall sort something out, but until then, not a word, OK? Come over after you’ve done with the mower and I’ll get a couple of cans out.
 |
| "I'm sure I can stretch to a couple of cans" |
“I’m sure I can stretch to a couple of cans – things aren’t that bad.”
 |
| "Not yet, anyway" |
As Mark walks away, he adds, “Not yet, anyway!”
 |
| "I haven't had a chance to eat today" |
As Sioned is heading for the chip shop, Jaclyn comes out; “Oh, the same idea as us,” comments Sioned. Jaclyn says that she has not had a chance to eat today yet,

| "You had lunch with Mam" |
but is told, “I know you had lunch with Mam.”
“I haven’t left the house all day,” Jaclyn insists,
 |
| Something fishy is going on |
which causes Sioned to think that something is going on.
 |
| "I didn't explain myself clearly" |
After mowing the grass, Mark goes to number 7, where Garry is anxious to point out that when he said things were getting rather tight, he does not think he explained himself clearly enough.
 |
| "It's in an offshore account" |
“The thing is, I’ve got the money, but it’s in an offshore account, and it’s complicated to get out.”
Mark is closely studying his phone as Garry continues,

| "I don't want you to think I'm desperate" |
“I don’t want you to think I’m skint or desperate, because I’m not.”
Mark’s phone makes a sound, and Garry suspects he is on the dating app again, but apparently it is a message from Vicky;

| "Vicky's coming home tomorrow" |
“She says she’s coming home tomorrow, to see me.”
“Just like that – after all these years?” Garry says, incredulously,
 |
| "She wants something – money, probably" |
“She wants something – money, probably.” Mark replies that she has a good job in London, so Garry supposes she must be in trouble, in that case.
 |
| "Why do you have to spoil everything?" |
“Why do you always have to spoil everything? I’d better put fresh sheets on the bed for her,” says Mark. Garry does not think that she will care if she is on the run, but is told that she is just coming home, that is all.
 |
| "There are not many blokes like Mickey out there" |
In the Deri, Kelly tells Jason, “The thing is, there are not many blokes like Mickey out there.”
 |
| "She just wants to be single" |
Cassie suggests that Anita just wants to be single, but Kelly does not agree with this evaluation; “I just think Siôn’s knocked her self-confidence.”
 |
| "And Siôn moved Tesni in so quickly" |
Jason comments that it has not helped that he has moved Tesni in so quickly; “Anita just needs some time to get herself together,” is Cassie’s opinion,
 |
| "I think he's really good for her" |
but Kelly insists, “I think he’s really good for her – he’s amazing – he organises a project on the estate. A food bank – well, a sort of food bank, but with toys for kids. He’s really inspirational – do you know what, like?
 |
| "They need a little nudge in the right direction" |
“I think they just need a little nudge in the right direction.”
 |
| "Leave them alone, Kelly" |
Cassie urges her to simply leave them alone,
 |
| "There's no need for you to meddle" |
and Jason agrees that there is no need for her to meddle.
 |
| "I'm not meddling – I'm helping!" |
As she is phoning, she assures them that she is not meddling; “I’m helping! Mickey, this is Kelly – you’re not going to believe this –

| "Auntie Anita's had a change of heart" |
“Auntie Anita’s had a change of heart — women’s prerogative, and all that. So don’t phone her, cos I want to surprise her!”
