Eifion is standing outside the shop, texting someone, when Hywel approaches and notices a poster in the shop window;

| "What on earth's the matter with him?" |
“What’s this?” he demands, “What on earth’s the matter with him?”
Eifion wonders what is the matter with Hywel, and is told that training has not stopped.

| "Well, we haven't had a session in a while" |
“We haven’t had a session in a while,” Eifion points out, and Hywel snarls that it is because of covid.
“Who does he think he is?” Hywel growls, as he gets out his phone, and Eifion suggests that Cai might be someone who is actually doing something, and fair play to him for that.
 |
| "These posters you're putting up . . ." |
“Hello – it’s me here! Listen, these posters you’re putting up – it is none of your business. We meet up regularly – all right, I’ll organise a committee for tonight!

| "Six o'clock in the Deri – be there!" |
“Six o’clock in the Deri – be there!”
 |
| Megan is affronted by his manner |
He meets Megan as he strides off towards the Deri, and she wishes him good afternoon; “Is it?” he growls, which Megan regards as very rude.

| "What's the matter with Hywel Llywelyn?" |
She crosses the road towards the bookshop and asks Siôn if he knows what is the matter with Hywel Llywelyn;
 |
| "What are we going to do about this offer on Bethania?" |
“Never mind – it’s you I wanted to see. What are we going to do about this offer on Bethania? Griffiths’ friend will want an answer.”
 |
| "We should call a meeting" |
Siôn suggests that they should call a meeting,
and Megan is anxious that it should be tonight. “Does that give us enough time to get all the members together?” Siôn enquires, and she reveals that she did not intend to hold a full meeting.
 |
| "At six tonight?" |
She proposes 6:00pm in the bookshop, if that is all right with him.
 |
| "We should ask Anita, at least" |
Siôn points out that it cannot be just the two of them, and suggests that they could ask Anita at least. “Some things should be discussed out of Anita’s earshot,” Megan tells him, which he thinks is rather unfair, stressing that her heart is in the right place.

| "Tt's not her heart – it's her mouth" |
“It’s not her heart that worries me – but her mouth,” remarks Megan as she turns to walk away.
 |
| "I don't know why I'm bothering" |
At Cysgod y Glyn, Ffion does not know why she is bothering; “I can’t stuff Arwen into a case,” she groans, but Jinx is sure that she will come round.
 |
| "We should have included her from the start" |
He maintains that they should have included her in this from the start.
“I thought she’d love it – if anyone was going to be stubborn, I thought it would be you,” Ffion says, and he apologises that he has not been much help. He wonders whether he should pack shorts or jumper.

| "Do you want to see a picture of the van?" |
Arwen comes in, and Ffion insists that she does not want to fall out with her daughter; she asks if Arwen wants to see a picture of the van.

| "The van's not the problem – it's the company!" |
“The van’s not the problem – it’s the company – you!” is Arwen’s answer, “Jinx will be behind the stall every day.”
Jinx points out that there will be millions of things to do,

| "I heard that Sunami are playing" |
and Ffion predicts that she will hardly see Arwen; she has heard that ‘Swnami’ (a Welsh Indie Rock band) are playing.

| "You're pathetic!" |
“Stop, Mam – you’re pathetic!” is Arwen’s comment.
 |
| "I'm trying my best here, Arwen" |
Ffion pleads that she is trying her best, she is told, “Don’t!” and then in a sudden change of our attitude,

| "I'll come – on on condition" |
Arwen adds, “OK, I’ll come – on one condition – Gwern comes too.”
“Dani will never let him come,” is Ffion’s considered opinion, but Arwen simply walks away.

| Tesni reads of Uncle Dylan's past . . . |
In the Deri flat, Tesni is looking at the Western Post’s online version of the article about Dylan,

| Cai packs his rugby gear |
At Y Felin, Cai is packing his rugby kit into a bag when Eifion arrives;

“I saw your poster – I thought you could put my name down.”
 |
| "Fitness and ability will decide" |
Cai stresses that fitness and ability will determine who is in the team.
 |
| "I don't expect any preferential treatment" |
“I understand that – I don’t expect any preferential treatment – unless you’re offering it, of course!” Eifion continues.
“I’ll see what shape you’re in after putting you through your paces, good boy,” replies Cai,
 |
| "The village needs people like you" |
and Eifion maintains that the village needs people like him – and the committee needs a kick as well. He promises Cai a pint on the house.

| Tesni is going out |
Tesni looks again at her iPad, then puts it into her bag;
 |
| 'Where are you off to?" |
“Where are you off to?” demands Dylan, and when she says she is going for walk, he wants to know with whom. He volunteers to go with her,
 |
| "I shall be fine on my own" |
but she is sure that she will be fine on her own.
Next, he wants to know how long she will be; “An hour or two – I haven’t been outside since yesterday – I’ll be fine, don’t worry.”

| "Your mother thought she was all right" |
“I can’t help but worry – your mother thought she was all right,” he goes on, and she snaps that her mother was at home, where there was nowhere safer for her to be. She stresses that she has her phone and will not be long.

| Mark looks at a rugby poster |
There is another of the rugby posters in the Deri, and Mark is looking at it; Cassie asks if he fancies playing. “No, but I could shift it down the wing back in the day,” he recalls.

| "You've always been a shifty one" |
She agrees that he has always been a shifty one.
 |
| "Uncle Dyl's worried about letting me out of his sight" |
Tesni comes downstairs, telling them she is going for a walk; “Uncle Dyl’s worried about letting me out of his sight.”

| "Dylan's just worried about himself" |
Mark’s opinion is that Dylan is just worried about himself, and when Tesni insists that is not fair, he goes on, “You’ve got a short memory – your father knew what he was like –

| "I'm telling the truth, Cas" |
“I’m just telling the truth.” Tesni replies that her father is not there, and Uncle Dyl is the only one she has

| "I know he's done some bad things" |
Cassie points out that everyone is on edge at the moment. “I know that he’s done some bad things, like hurting Mam,” Tesni admits, and Cassie explains that he did not do it deliberately.

“Have you seen the things people are saying?” asks Tesni, and she she is advised not to believe everything that she reads. She is the one who knows real Dylan – no-one else.
A stranger comes into the pub, and immediately goes up to Tesni;

“Samantha Jones from the Western Post,” she introduces herself, “Sorry to hear about your mother.”

| She wants an interview . . . |
She gets out her phone to record an interview, but Cassie is quick to inform her, “We don’t want you here, and we’ll call the police.” Nevertheless Samantha invites Tesni to make a comment,

| . . . but Cassie is having none of it . . . |
and this time Cassie orders her, “Out! Now! And don’t come back!”
 |

The reporter thinks it wise to comply with this instruction.

| 'Before putting my brain into gear" |
In the kitchen at Penrhewl, Britt is apologising to Eileen; “I shouldn’t have criticised your chutneys – but you know me – I open my mouth before putting my brain into gear.”

| "Apology accepted" |
Eileen graciously accepts this apology,
 |
| "Will you give me my job back?" |
and is urged, “Come on, Eileen, will you give me my job back?”
 |
| "If you remember who's boss" |
“Well, that depends on if you can remember who’s boss,” is the reply.

| "I'm back on my medication now" |
Britt maintains that life is too short to argue, and she repeats that she is back on her medication now.

| "Jaclyn was devoted to Cae Glas, poor thing" |
“I still can’t believe it – Jaclyn was so devoted to Cae Glas, poor thing,” says Eileen,

| "It's as if I've lest a sister-in-law" |
and Britt maintains that she feels as if she has lost a sister-in-law, which Eileen thinks is rather strange.

| But as Britt is about to go . . . |
As Britt is about to leave, she is informed that the oven could do with with a wipe;

| . . .Eileen requires her to clean the oven . . . |
“Do you want the job or not? Or perhaps a scrub.”
 |
| . . . and looks very smug |
As Britt starts, Eileen looks very pleased with herself.
 |
| "Where are the rest of the committee?" |
In the Deri, Hywel is sitting alone when Cai approaches him, asking, “Where are they, then? The rest of the committee?”
 |
| "I speak on their behalf" |
Hywel maintains that they have given him the seal of approval to talk on their behalf – as chairman and head coach; “They’re not happy with you – you had no right to put up those posters without checking.”
 |
| "The invisible committee?" |
“The invisible committee?” laughs Cai, not believing a word of it.
 |
| "You know nothing about this club" |
Hywel snarls that Cai knows nothing about this club, but is told that it seems to be very closed off.
 |
| "You don't want anyone on the outside to join" |
“And as if you don’t want anyone on the outside to join.”
Hywel assures him that he is more than welcome to play, “If the head coach thinks you’re good enough.
 |
| "You're stuck with me now, good boy!" |
“You’re stuck with me now, good boy!”
Cai does not look particularly pleased at this and mutters, “Pathetic!” Then he turns to Cassie and asks for a large whisky.
 |
| Drinking whisky won't help your fitness" |
When Hywel gets up to leave the Deri, he comments, “Drinking whisky won’t help your fitness, will it?”
 |
| "I'm not happy about this, Megan" |
When Megan joins Siôn in the bookshop at six o’clock, he expresses his misgivings;
 |
| "We're going behind the members' backs" |
“I’m not happy that we’re discussing this offer behind the members’ backs.” She answers that the fewer that know, the better – for now and for ever.
Siôn is outraged; “You’re suggesting we don’t tell the members at all?” and she maintains that would be for the best.
 |
| "We have a duty to inform them" |
“But we have a duty to inform them, legally and morally,” he insists.
 |
| "My loyalty is to Bethania!: |
“My loyalty is to Bethania – not the members,” she emphasises, but he reminds her that the members are the chapel. “Telling the members would lead to more arguments,” she continues, “And before we know it, Bethania will be sold!”
Siôn points out that she does not know that, and she exclaims, “There won’t be any members because there won’t be a chapel!”

Rhys happens to be walking past the bookshop, and listens to Siôn’s raised voice

as he reacts, emphatically, “You always overreact when it comes to Bethania. I don’t want them to be deceived – and be accused of deceiving people. People should be part of the debate, Megan!” Rhys walks on, chuckling to himself.

| It looks as if Cai has a drink problem |
In the Deri, Cai is drinking, as he so often does, when Eifion comes in and sits at the bar. “Is this a bank holiday for you, or are you on strike?” wonders Cassie,

| "I promised you a pint on the house" |
and he maintains that he is 20 minutes early. He promised Cai a pint on the house.
 |
| "You can't promise a pint on that side of the bar" |
Cassie is adamant, “You can’t promise a pint on the house that side of the bar.”
 |
| "You'll have to wait for 20 minutes, then" |
Eifion tells Cai to wait 20 minutes, then he will pull one.
 |
| "Large G&T, please, Cassie" |
Rhys comes in, still looking smug and asks for large G&T with a slice of lime.
Eifion thinks that things must be bad if he is drinking cocktails at this time of day.
 |
| "Losers don't wear suits" |
“Rhys answers, “Better than ever – losers don’t wear suits – they wear a striped shirt and jeans.”
Cai orders another one, and Cassie remarks that the last one did not touch the sides.
 |
| "Get rid of the bad taste of Hywel Llywelyn" |
“I need something to get rid of the bad taste Hywel Llywelyn’s left in my mouth,” he snarls.
 |
| Rhys is of a similar opinion about his father |
Rhys concedes, “You won’t say anything about Dad I haven’t said myself.”
 |
| "Do you know where Tesni is?" |
Dylan comes downstairs, looking flustered and asks if Cassie knows where Tesni is; the only reply is that she has gone out, so he goes to look for her.
"Getting as far away from him as possible"
Eifion imagines that she is probably getting as far away from him as possible; “Do you want to say that to his face?” enquires Cassie.

| "There we are – shining!" |
Britt is scrubbing the oven under the watchful eye of Eileen; “There we go – shining!” she says, and Eileen replies that it will do.
 |
| "I'd like £2 an hour extra . . ." |
“After doing that, it’s made me think I’d like £2 an hour extra,” Britt goes on.
Eileen simply laughs at that, warning her not to push her luck;
 |
| ". . . or you'll have to find someone else" |
“£2 an hour, or you’ll have to find someone else,” so Eileen says that she will have to look for someone else in that case, and Britt reduces her demand to £1.50.
 |
| "You work an extra eight hours a week" |
“£1 – on the condition that you work an extra eight hours per week,” Eileen tells her, and it is acknowledged that the money would come in handy, but Britt wonders how she will fit in the Deri hours. “That’s your problem,” she is told, and will work something out.

| "Look, you missed a bit" |
As she is again about to leave, Eileen alleges that she has found that a bit has been missed, pointing out a speck of chutney on the ring.
 |
| "I presume Hywel doesn't like that poster" |
As Cai polishes off yet another whisky, Cassie imagines that Hywel does not like that poster;
 |
| "He doesn't like competition" |
“He doesn’t like competition,” is Cai’s explanation. She points out that he is younger than Hywel and fitter than he is – even a blind man could see that.
Eifion, who is now on duty, reminds Cai that he is owed a free pint,
 |
| Beti is waiting to be served |
but Cassie instructs him to serve the customers at the other end of the bar.
 |
| "He only serves people he likes" |
“You must have a hold over this Eifion,” she says to Cai, “He only serves people he likes.”
 |
| "Looking after other people's children on your holiday?" |
Contrary to Ffion’s expectations, Dani says, “You must be mad, looking after other people’s children on your holiday.”
 |
| "It's the only way I can get Arwen to come . . ." |
Ffion explains that is the only way she can get Arwen to come. “I don’t think Gwern’s ever been to the Eisteddfod,” Dani adds. They will be going tomorrow lunchtime,

because Arwen wanted two nights by the beach.
“She’s twisting you around her little finger,” Dani warns,

| Dylan cannot find Tesni |
just as Dylan returns with the news that he cannot find Tesni, and she is not answering her phone.

| "Watching a film with Seren" |
Dani breaks the news that Tesni is there, watching a film with Seren, which makes him feel rather silly.

| "Things not easy at the moment?" |
Ffion can believe that things are not easy at the moment, and Dani is grateful that at least Gwern can have some space.

| Cai downs another one |
Cai has just finished his free pint, and refuses another one from Eifion, preferring to wait for Cassie;

| "If you play your cards right . . ." |
“If you play your cards right, this will be a freebie, too,” he is told.
 |
| "Keep your pint – I don't want it!" |
“What exactly do you mean by that? Keep your pint – I don’t want it!” Cai growls, and tells Cassie,

| "I just want to be in the team" |
Eifion maintains that he just wants to be in the team.

“thinking you could put your hands down my shorts?” shouts Cai, and as the argument escalates, Iolo comes in.

| Eifion sustains a punch to the nose |
Eifion attempts to restrain Cai, who swings round and hits him in the face.

| "I'm going to phone the police" |
Hywel is delighted and is about to phone the police when Cassie takes charge;

| Cassie restores order in the Deri |
“You’re not helping, Hywel! Cai – get out!” while Eifion is escorted upstairs to the flat, where Dani is preparing Gabriel’s bottle.

| "Cai punched him" |
“Is it all right to sit here for a while?” Iolo asks, “Cai punched him!”
 |
| "It's like being back in jail" |
Dylan remarks that it is like being back in jail.
 |
| "I don't know what happened there" |
Iolo fetches some frozen peas which are wrapped in a tea towel and applied to Eifion’s nose. “I know I say and do stupid things sometimes, but I don’t know what happened there,” Eifion groans, and Iolo apologises for his uncle.
He hates people like that, and Eifion laments the fact that half the village does not remember he is not straight.
