Tesni has a busy life in the bookshop

In the bookshop, Siôn is listening to Eifion who is expounding his views on CwmFM;  “I just want to give back what’s being lost in the countryside, but it’s hard work and I’m always looking for volunteers – because securing a green future and rescuing the countryside is what matters.”

"That Eifion's talking nonsense!"

Siôn shakes his head, remarking that Eifion is talking nonsense;  “I think I’ll phone in and tell him exactly what I think of his ideas!”

"I think he's making a lot of sense"

Tesni, on the other hand, thinks that he is making a lot of sense,

"It's a threat to the rural economy"

but Siôn points out, “Rewilding is a direct threat to the rural economy.”   She sneers that money is more important to him than the environment.

"How will that impact on the Welsh language?"

“If there are no jobs, where will people work?” he demands, “And how will that impact on the Welsh language?”

"The Welsh language will not exist"

She emphasises that if they destroy the world, the Welsh language will not exist.

She picks up her bag and walks out of the shop,

Off she goes to volunteer

informing her employer that Eifion is looking for volunteers, and Siôn is incredulous that she believes that nonsense.

"He's making a lot more sense than you"

“He’s making a lot more sense than you,” is her parting comment.

Eifion is looking very pleased with himself

As she walks along the street, Eifion emerges from the CwmFM studio, with a self-satisfied smile on his face.

"It seems there's a lot of money to be made"

She hesitates when she sees him meeting Garry, who comments, “It seems there’s a lot of money to be made in this rewilding – but that is not why you’re doing it, of course.

"Green future – rescuing the countryside"

“Securing a green future and rescuing the countryside – that’s what you said.”

"Sort out an electric charging point in the village"

Eifion encourages him to sort out an electric charging point for the village, predicting, “You’ll do all right.   We all need to do our bit for the environment – and if there’s a penny to be made in the process, there’s no problem.”

Tesni chases after him

When Garry walks away, Tesni chases after Eifion.

Mathew comes across a small box . . .

Mathew is still sorting out bags of Izzy’s clothes and notices in one of them a small box;

. . . containing a necklace

he opens it to find a necklace, and at that moment receives a text message from Vicky.

Vicky accepts his invitation

It reads, “Got your message.   Deri at 12?”   He thinks for a moment, then puts the box in his pocket and walks out of the flat.

"It's quite simple"

In the Deri, Eifion is explaining his rewilding plan to Tesni and Aled;  “It’s quite simple – we need to fill the ditches at Deri Fawr, and then I can rewild.”

"He's creating a haven for wild species"

Tesni goes on to inform Aled that he is creating a haven for rare species and reducing flooding.   “Buy yourselves a drink and we can discuss it outside,” Eifion suggests.   Both Tesni and Aled ask Cassie for an orange juice.

"Siôn not with you today?"

“Siôn not with you today?” enquires Aled,

"All he cares about is money"

and Tesni complains that as he is so ‘pro this’ and ‘pro that’, she thought that he would support what Eifion is doing, but all he cares about is money.

When she has gone to the ladies’,

"Shouldn't we find a new supplier?"

Aled asks Cassie whether it would be a good idea find a new supplier for the organic stuff in the Deri café.   As Cassie pours out the Sainsbury’s orange juice, she wonders what is wrong with produce from Penrhewl, and he maintains that it is not organic.

"The produce at Penrhewl is organic, all right?"

DJ is sitting at the end of the bar and loudly protests, “The produce at Penrhewl is organic, right?” but Aled has heard otherwise from a couple of people.

"Eifion!"

Cassie says that is the rumour Eifion has been putting about.

“And you believe every word that Eifion says, do you?” DJ emphasises, “Listen, Penrhewl is accredited – you can’t say it’s organic if it’s not.”   Aled is quite happy to stick with Penrhewl if that is the case, but recommends that Cassie should check everything that comes in.

"I wonder what his game is"

DJ wonders what Eifion’s game is, and Cassie doubts that he knows himself.

DJ gets out his phone

DJ takes out his phone.

"I've been kicked out"

Iolo arrives at Y Felin, where his father is surprised to see him;  “I’ve been kicked out – Tyler wanted to do one of his keep fit videos,” he grumbles, advising that he has given up making his own videos, as he did not enjoy it.

"There isn't enough Welsh content online!"

His father insists that is not the point;  “We need those videos – there isn’t enough Welsh content online!”

"Tyler's videos are in Welsh"

but he is assured that Tyler’s videos are also in Welsh.

"Tyler – seriously?"

“Tyler – seriously?” is Siôn’s deprecating comment.

"Evert time he makes one, he kicks me out"

The only thing which concerns Iolo is, “Every time he makes one, he kicks me out.”

"I could correct his Welsh!"

Siôn suggests that Tyler could make his videos at Y Felin – which would provide a chance for him to correct Tyler’s language.

"What's wrong – what have you done?"

Iolo wonders what is wrong with his father today, surmising that it is probably something to do with Tesni.   “I haven’t done anything – it’s her,” Siôn replies, “She’s taking Eifion’s side on rewilding Deri Fawr.   What Eifion is doing will affect the rural economy for decades!”

"People have the right to disagree with you"

Iolo reminds him that people have the right to disagree with him, but Siôn also objects to the way she spoke to him.   “You’re just angry because she challenged you – say you’re sorry and listen to what she has to say,” Iolo advises, “You never know, you might learn something,” and he leaves the house.

"Thanks for agreeing to meet me"

Mathew thanks Vicky for agreeing to meet him and says he does not really know how he is coping at the moment.   She will understand if he does not want to talk about it;

"We had so many plans"

“I’m just a bit in limbo – Izzy and I had so many plans – buying a house, settling down, having children.”

"Just like when we were together"

Vicky remarks that it was just like them when they were together, but he points out that did not work out.

She says that it is weird to be back;  “So much has changed, but at the same time, things have stayed the same.”

"Have I changed for the better?"

Mathew wonders if he has changed, and she is not sure whether it is for the better,

"Give me a chance to find out"

urging him to give her a chance to find out.

"I've got enough on my plate – I don't need this"

DJ meets Eileen in the street and informs her of the rumours Eifion has been spreading;  “I’ve got enough on my plate – I don’t need this,” she moans, and DJ is anxious to help in anyway he can,

"I could do a few jobs for you"

suggesting that he can come to Penrhewl and do a few jobs for her.

"You saw what Sioned was like last week"

She does not think that is a good idea;  “You saw what Sioned was like last week – I don’t want another argument with her.”

She asks if he has found somewhere to stay, and he answers that he is staying with Mathew, and still wants to be able to help Eileen with something.

He is warned to stay away

She knows that he is only trying to help, but considers that he ought to stay away from Penrhewl until Sioned has calmed down.

"What if we had stayed together?"

In the Deri, Mathew asks if Vicky has ever wondered what would have happened if they had stayed together.

"I couldn't live above a shop for the rest of my life"

“I don’t think I could live above a shop for the rest of my life,” she replies,

"A big house in the country – with a trampoline"

but he imagines that they would have a big house in the country, with a big trampoline in the garden and plenty of room for Nicky – and a couple of kids running around.

"With what?   With magic beans?"

She demands how he would afford this;  “With magic beans?” and he reveals that he was left money in a will after Auntie Nel died.

She is stunned to hear of a quarter of a million pounds

She is highly impressed when she is told there was £250,000, which is how he bought shares in APD.

“I leave for a couple of years everyone hits the jackpot!” she exclaims, and remembers, “We had some laughs, didn’t we?   I’m sure things would have worked out, but finishing was the right thing to do.”

He does not look as if he agrees

He appears rather disappointed by that, but reluctantly admits she is probably right.

Vicky fancies having lunch there and will go to get a menu;

"I'll get the menu – you can pay"

however she insists that Mathew can pay the bill.

He gets the box with the necklace

she has gone to the bar, he takes out the box containing the necklace

Now you see it . . .

and puts it on the table,

. . . now you don't

only to have second thoughts and hide it again.

Chi a'r Ci is temporarily closed

Aled is fixing a notice to the door of the salon, indicating that they are closed until next week.

"Is everything  all right with Dani?"

Garry asks if everything is all right with Dani;

"Not that it's any of your business . . .

he is told, “Not that it’s any of your business, but Dani and the baby are fine.   She doesn’t want you anywhere near her or the baby – you’re not part of her life – can’t you see that?

"Go home and read your comics"

“So just go home and read your comics.”

"I'm researching green energy"

Garry points out that the magazines are research into green energy, and he comes out with the same sort of talk as we have already heard from Eifion;

"Guaranteeing a future for the children"

“Guaranteeing a future for children in the village – please, Aled, when you see Dani, give her my regards.”

Aled walks away

Aled walks away without a word.

Tyler is engrossed with the laptop

Tyler is studying the laptop screen when Iolo returns to number 7;  “Look at the comments for these videos,” he says, “I knew they were good, but I wasn’t expecting this.”

"Your ego getting a workout?"

Iolo demands, “What’s getting the biggest workout – your body or your ego?

"I'm providing a service"

Tyler insists that is not why he is doing it, but rather is providing a service – keeping people fit;  “It’s just a shame this place is so poky,” he complains, and Iolo decides that he will have to save the nation somewhere else.

"Dad has offered Y Felin"

“Dad has offered Y Felin if you need more space,” he says,

"I could make more exclusive content"

and Tyler is delighted, imagining that he could make more exclusive content that people could buy;  Iolo reminds him that he has only had a couple of ‘likes’.

"There's the potential to make loads of money!"

“Think about it, Iol – it’s cheaper than going to the gym – no overheads – there’s potential to make loads of money!” Tyler enthuses, so he is told that while he thinks about that, he can tidy the place up.

He goes back to gloating at the screen

He resumes grinning at the laptop screen.

"You've been busy – the yard is spotless!"

Sioned remarks that her mother has been busy;  “I’m talking about the yard – it’s spotless.”   Eileen says she has not done anything in the yard, so Sioned imagines that it must be a fairy,

"DJ hasn't been here again, has he?"

but then stops and demands, “DJ hasn’t been here again, has he?

"I don't want him here!"

“I made it perfectly clear I didn’t want him here – you’ve gone behind my back!”

"I haven't done anything"

Eileen explains that she has not done anything,

Then DJ shows his face

and then DJ comes in;  he is immediately told to get out, but responds, “After our little chat earlier, and seeing the strain you’re under, I thought I’d help out.   Ive tidied the yard,

"I could do a couple of sheds, if you want"

and I could do a couple of sheds, if you want.”

"What part of 'stay away' don't you understand?"

“What part of ‘stay away’ don’t you understand?” Sioned demands,

"Look, I'm grateful for the work"

and Eileen is grateful to him for the work, but he should have let her know.   “Well, you’ve finished now, so go!” snarls Sioned, but before he goes,

"There's one thing you should see"

there is one thing that they should see,

He shows them on the laptop

and he asks to use the laptop to show them something.

"Did you see Eifion?"

Siôn is also working on his laptop when Tesni comes back in;  he asks if she saw Eifion.   “Listen, I’ve been thinking about what happened earlier –

"I know you feel strongly about this . . ."

“I know you feel strongly about this – and you have every right to”

She assumes that he is going to admit that it is a good idea,

". . . but you're not seeing the big picture"

but he goes on, “In principle – but you’re not seeing the big picture.”

She is expecting him to ‘mansplain’ it to her

"If we don't do something, the planet has no chance!"

and insists, “Siôn, if we don’t do something now, the planet has no chance!”   He does not regard it as that simple, but she is quite adamant that it is.

“My generation has to deal with this – your generation sat back and let it happen.   I’m going to help Eifion take pictures of Deri Fawr.

Siôn is firmly put in his place

“At least I’m doing something – what have you ever done?”

Vicky receives a text

Vicky says that it has been nice to catch up properly with Mathew;  then she receives a text from Rhys, offering her a few more free sessions in the gym.   He replies that he knows what Rhys is like;

"I'm pretty sure you're not the only girl"

“I’m pretty sure you’re not the only girl he is offering free sessions.”

"We could do it again, Math"

She thanks him for the food and everything, suggesting they could do it again.

"Sorry, I forgot about this"

As she walks away, he calls her back;  “I’m sorry, I forgot about this – I was going through an old drawer earlier, and I found . . .”   He takes the box from his pocket, but drops it on the pavement.

Vicky picks up the box . . .

Vicky picks it up and looks to see what is inside.   “I bought it years ago when we were going out but I never got the chance to give it to you – better late than never.”

. . . and admires the necklace

She describes it as ‘lush’ and thanks him.

"I'd like to meet you again"

He says he had better go, and would like to meet her again;  she appears to be in favour of this,

She is surprised by this gift

and looks with surprise at the necklace.

"A bull like that is perfect for Penrhewl"

Eileen tells Sioned that DJ knows his stuff;  “A bull like that is perfect for Penrhewl.”

"It's a pity that its Eifion selling it"

Sioned agrees with her but points out that it is a pity that it is Eifion who is selling it;  she predicts that he will make it seem as if he is doing them a huge favour.

"I just hate the fact that DJ's right!"

“DJ says that bull should cost a whole lot more – it’s a bargain,” her mother goes on.

“Yes, I know that, but I just hate the fact that DJ is right,” growls Sioned.

"He knows Penrhewl better than anyone"

Eileen does understand how she feels about him, but she must admit that DJ knows Penrhewl better than anyone.

"There's too much for the two of us"

“Since he left, things have fallen apart here – there’s too much to do for the two of us – look how much he has helped us today.   So I’ve been thinking . . .”

"I know what you're going to say, Mam!"

Sioned is well aware of what she is going to say.

“We need help and we need someone who understands Penrhewl – and that is DJ!

"You don't want Cae Glas to fail, do you?"

“Please, Sioned – you don’t want Cae Glas fail, do you?”

"Just keep him out of my way . . ."

“Just keep him out of my way!” Sioned snarls,

". . . or I won't be responsible for my actions!"

“I won’t be responsible for what I do if he doesn’t!”

She slams shut the laptop

She slams shut the laptop.

Mathew looks at some photos

Mathew returns to the shop flat, sits down on the sofa and looks through some photos from a box;

Izzy is wearing that necklace

what catches his eye is one of Izzy, sitting outside the Deri, wearing the very necklace he has just given to Vicky.

What will he do now?

The discovery horrifies him and he does not know what to do.
