Jaclyn leaves another message for Tesni

Jaclyn is on duty in the Deri, and again tries to contact her daughter;  “Tesni, it’s me again – can you call me back, please?

"I don't want to fight like this"

“I don’t want to fight like this.”

"How long will your meeting take, Kelly?"

At Bryntirion, Anita asks Kelly how long her meeting will take, then they hear Jason come thundering down the stairs.

"I have to go now"

He shouts, “I have to go now – I’ll see you later.”

“You’re going to work now?” Kelly demands, and he points out that he is late already.

Kelly berates him

“Second night, Jase – drag yourself home in the early hours, stinking of booze, like!”

He gives the excuse that with everything that is going on, but she goes on, “Like your business partner’s girlfriend dying?

"You haven't even been to see Mathew!"

“You haven’t even been to see Mathew!”   He says that he gets it – he is a rubbish partner and a rubbish friend.

“Spare me the pity party,” Kelly snarls, “This isn’t about you!”   He urges her to leave this until later, promising to go and see Mathew today,

"I shall be a lot more use opening up APD"

but maintains that he will be a lot more use if he goes and opens up APD now.

"Don't bother coming back!"

“OK, whoa, hang on!” she informs him, “If you go drinking after work – don’t bother coming back, because I will have locked the door!”

Anita detects that everything is not rosy here

Anita has been watching this exchange, and Jason walks out without another word.

“I don’t know what’s wrong with him,” Kelly sighs,

"I expect he feels guilty about Izzy"

and Anita suspects that he feels guilty about Izzy – she told Kelly about the argument they had the day she died.   He was so angry that he must be feeling bad about it.

"Anyway, I must be going"

“Anyway, I must be going because I want to miss the traffic,” says Kelly, “See you later.”

Anita tidies up Ifan's scattered toys . . .

Anita is clearing up some of Ifan’s toys when she comes across a small black card,

. . . and picks up a 'Casino Gold' card

which reads, ‘Casino Gold’.   She now realises what is going on.

Eifion arrives in the shop flat

Mathew is standing alone in the shop flat when Eifion comes up, carrying a bunch of flowers, and says that Jason is on his way over;  he will go through the new rota.   “Is there any news about the post-mortem?”

"It's far too early yet"

Mathew replies that it is far too early yet and wonders what his cousin is doing with the flowers;

"I was going to drop by where Izzy was"

“I was going to drop by where Izzy was,” is the answer.

"Why were you there?"

“Why were you there?” Mathew demands,

"I often go that way"

and Eifion says that he often goes that way;  he wonders why Mathew is asking.

"She told me about the will at APD"

“She told me about the will at APD – I just can’t get it out of my head.

"What will are you talking about?"

Eifion denies all knowledge of what he is talking about.

“She found John Deri Fawr’s will in your bag at work – leaving everything to you!” Mathew explains,

"She told me everything in the end"

“It really worried her – she didn’t want to tell me, but I knew there was something on her mind, and she told me everything in the end.”

"Well, she was wrong, then"

Eifion simply says that she was wrong,

"Are you accusing Izzy of lying?"

and Mathew demands, “Are you accusing Izzy of lying?”   He is told that she must have just got it wrong.

"I said it was none of our business"

“She wanted to confront you, but I stopped her – I said it was none of our business,” Mathew continues,

"It was in my bag, and so none of your business!"

and Eifion insists if it was in his bag, it was indeed none of their business.

"If you did something to keep her quiet . . ."

“But it is now!” declares Mathew, “Eifion, if you did something to keep her quiet . . .”   He protests that he did not do anything to Izzy, and wondered how he could be accused of such thing;

he says that he thought the world of her.   “What about the will?” Mathew shouts, “Why would John Deri Fawr leave everything to you?”

"There were some documents about the farm"

Eifion explodes, “He’s not!   There were some documents in my bag about the farm for the solicitor – perhaps that’s what she saw!   I’ll go and get them to show you.”   Mathew simply wants him to go away, but he continues ranting, “I’m not leaving like this – you have to believe me!”

Mathew screams that Izzy would never lie, and this is met with, “I’m not lying either!”

"Just go, Eifion!"

Again he is told to leave, so he grabs his flowers and does so.

Dani is doing some cleaning

Dani is cleaning in the Deri flat when Garry comes in,

"Dylan's pleading not guilty to everything!"

complaining, “Dylan’s pleading not guilty to everything – I’m guessing that he’ll say he didn’t bring the gun to the Deri, and the shooting was an accident.”

"They'll claim that Garry made the accusations up"

He is followed by DI Wilkinson, and Dani asks about the drugs charge;  “This is off the record,” says the DI, “But they’ll claim Garry and family made the accusations up – out of jealousy.   You were seeing him and expecting his child.”

"So there's a chance he could go free?"

Dani realises there is a chance he could go free;  in the DI’s opinion, “There is too much evidence against him, but,

"With good lawyers, they could turn it on its head"

“with good lawyers, they could turn it on its head.”

This is very concerning

Dani finds this very troubling.

Tesni and Siôn arrive

Mathew is sitting, thinking, when Tesni and Siôn arrive, expressing their condolences;

"Losing a partner is one of the worst things"

“Losing a partner suddenly is one of the worst things that can happen,” says Siôn, from experience, “I lost my wife many years ago.”

"We've made a lasagne"

They have bought some lasagne and a couple of other things for Mathew;

"From selling books to making lasagne"

he comments, “From selling books to making lasagne,”

"We're living together now"

and Tesni reveals that they are living together now, something of which Mathew was unaware.

“Mam isn’t too happy, as you can imagine,” she continues, but Mathew is happy for them;

"Grasp any opportunity to be happy"

as he tells them to grasp any opportunity to be happy, he breaks down in tears, and they leave him.

"If there's anything we can do, Math"

“If there’s anything we can do to help,” Tesni tells him.

He looks at a photo of Izzy

He walks across the room and picks up a photo;

"Siôn and Tesni living together – scandal!"

“Well, Izzy,” he says, “Siôn and Tesni are living together – scandal!”

Eifion checks he is alone . . .

Eifion comes into APD the back way and checks to make sure no-one is there;

. . . locks the door . . .

he bolts the front door and turns the sign to ‘CLOSED’.

. . . and retrieves that will

Retrieving the cashbox from the cupboard, he takes out will,

He hears a noise, so hides it

but thinks he hears someone coming, so hides it inside his shirt.

"It's nice doing things face-to-face"

Kelly is back from her meeting, telling Anita that it was nice doing things face-to-face instead of online;  now she is starving.

Anita has news for her

Anita has some news for her;  “I found this on the floor,” she says, displaying the card.

"That explains a lot"

Kelly replies that it explains a lot;

"Izzy told me he'd been gambling online"

“I sort of knew – Izzy told me that he’d been gambling online.”

"Was there a connection with the argument"

Anita wonders if there is a connection with their argument which she witnessed.

"Strong possibility!"

“Dunno – strong possibility!” suspects Kelly, “I mean, Jason was angry that Izzy had told me, so . . .”

"Could he have been responsible?"

Anita raises the suspicion that he was responsible for what happened;  “That he would do something to her?

"He might be an addict, but he's not a murderer!"

“Jason might be an addict, but he’s not a murderer!” insists Kelly. “I can’t believe you’d think something so horrendous!”

She is advised that she has to talk to him;  Anita volunteers, “I’ll take Ifan out for a walk later, so you can have the house to yourselves.”

Dani sits, thoughtfully

Dani sits at one end of the table, looking extremely pregnant, as Garry asks if she sure she does not want anything to eat;

"No way he's going to avoid jail!"

“I know you’re worried about Dylan, but there is no need to be, because there’s no way in the world he’s going to avoid going to jail.

"And no way I'm going to let you and the children down again"

“And there’s no way in the world I’m going to let you and the children down again.   I’ve been thinking – what I’d like you to do is consider giving it another go, with me.   I want our family back, Dan.   I’m not expecting an answer straightaway, OK?   Just think about it.”

"You'd raise Dylan's child?"

“And you’d raise Dylan’s child?” asks Dani, surprised;

"Your child – Seren's half-brother"

he nods his head and points out that it will be her child, and Seren’s half-brother.

"I could officially adopt him"

With Dylan in jail, he will not be part of the child’s life – Garry could be his father – could officially adopt him.

"I'm not expecting an answer now . . ."

“It’s a lot to think about, so, as I said, I’m not expecting an answer now –

". . . but promise you'll think about it"

“but, please, tell me you’ll think about it.

"OK"

Dani agrees that she will, and walks out of the room.

"I don't want us to argue"

Jaclyn has visited Y Felin, just wanting to apologise to Tesni;  “I don’t want us to argue, especially after what happened to Izzy.”   Tesni agrees that it puts everything into perspective,

Is Siôn teaching Tesni the game of chess?

and we see what appears to be a game of chess in progress.

When she hears that Siôn will be back before long, Jaclyn declines the offer of a cup of tea;

"You don't want to be here when he gets back"

“So you don’t want to be here when he gets back?” remarks Tesni,

"I'm not going to let a man come between us"

but her mother insists she is not going to let a man come between them.

"You're the one who's done that"

“You’re the one who’s done that,” her daughter reminds her, “We went to see Mathew earlier.”

"He must have had a shock"

“He must have had a shock, seeing you as a couple,” Jaclyn comments, but Tesni thinks he has more to worry about than their love life,

Tesni moves one of the chessmen

as she moves one of the chess pieces.

“I bet he can’t believe that you’re with Siôn,” Jaclyn goes on,

"He's old, you're young"

“I’m just being honest – he’s old, you’re young, you’re beautiful – you have your whole life ahead of you.”

"I supported you when you ran away with Garry"

“Mam, when you wanted to run away with Garry, I supported you, even though you were destroying our family!” Tesni points out,

"I don't want to see you waste your life on Siôn"

but her mother does not want to see her waste her life on Siôn.

"He's the best thing that's happened to me"

Tesni rages, “He is the best thing that has happened to me – he’s supportive, he respects my decisions – which is a lot more than you do!

"If you haven't got anything else to complain about . . ."

“Now, if you haven’t got anything else to complain about, you might as well go.”   Jaclyn needs no second bidding.

Mathew brings out some rubbish bags

Mathew comes out of the door of the shop flat with a couple of black sacks which he places in the bin;

Eifion calls to him . . .

Eifion is passing the end of the street and calls to him,

. . . but is ignored

but is ignored.

"I can't stop thinking about it"

In the Deri, Jaclyn apologises for being late back;  Cassie will be going over to see Gaynor later, and cannot stop thinking about them.   She intends to to stay with Em this weekend;  “When something like this happens, it makes you want to hold your children close,” she says.

"Guto is on the other side of the world and Tes hates me!"

“Well, Guto is on the other side of the world and Tes hates me, so . . .” Jaclyn begins,

"Is this something to do with Mr White?"

and Cassie can see that this has something to do with Mr White.

"He's old enough to be her grandfather!"

“What does she see in him?   He’s old enough to be her grandfather!   I wasn’t planning to say anything, but it all came out – why is she throwing her life away on him?” wails Jaclyn.

"It may well be all over in six months"

Cassie suggests that it may be all over in six months;  “The thing is, the more you oppose it, the keener she’ll become.”

Jaclyn ponders this thought

This gives Jaclyn something to think about.

"That's where you've been going, is it?"

When Jason returns home, Kelly confronts him;  “So that’s where you’ve been going, is it?   To a casino?”   Once again he rather lamely protests that he did not gamble.   “Oh no?   Why were you there, then?   The scenery?” she demands.

Jason hears the DI arriving

There is a knock at the door, and the DI has a few questions for Jason;

"When did you last see Esyllt?"

“We’re talking to everyone connected with the death of Esyllt Evans,” he says, and Jason looks concerned.   “I understand that you co-own APD – when did you last see Esyllt?”

"On the day she died she was in good spirits"

Jason replies that it was on the day she died and she seemed great;  “She was in good spirits – there were no problems at work, she enjoyed it.”   He looks across at Kelly, who is wearing a disapproving expression.

“Did she get on with Eifion Rowlands?” he is asked,

"They used to go out together"

and points out that they used to go out together.   “We’re asking everyone, where were you between 5:00pm and 8:00pm the day she died?”

"I came straight home from work, didn't I, Kelly?"

Jason answers that he came straight home from work, and turns to Kelly for confirmation of this, as he removes the clip from his lank, apparently uncombed hair.

Kelly confirms that

She nods her assent to this, and the questioning is over.

She glares at Jason

Jason is looking particularly awkward now, as Kelly stares accusingly at him.

"It's not about me going to a casino"

“Its not about me going to a casino,” he argues, but she wants to know why he incriminated her.

"You forced me to lie to the cops, Jase!"

“You just forced me to lie to the cops, Jase!” she snarls,

"It had nothing to do with Izzy"

and he maintains that it had nothing to do with Izzy.

"Jase, what happened?"

“Jase, what happened?” she demands.

"You think I had something to do with Izzy?"

“Right, you think I have something to do with what happened to Izzy?” he asks, but she does not know the answer to that – only that he has lied to the cops about where he was.

Anita is horrified as she listens

Anita is coming downstairs and listens, as he maintains that Kelly is sensitive about these things;

"You were with a murderer – and before him, Moc!"

“You were with a murderer before me – and before him, Moc!   This is about you falling in love with two hideous monsters!

"And you can't trust any man, yeah?"

As a result, unfortunately you can’t trust any man, yeah?”

"I want you to go – now!"

Kelly walks towards him and growls through her tears, “I want you to go – I want you to go now!”   He compliantly walks out of the house.
