"You can't just walk in here . . ."

DJ apologises for scaring her, but Eileen protests, “You can’t just walk in here!   What are you doing here?   

". . . what if Sioned had seen you?"

“What if Sioned had seen you?”   

"I've ben standing outside for hours"

He replies that he knows she has gone out, as he has been standing outside for hours, trying to pluck up the courage to come in.

"You needed that courage on your wedding day!"

“Well, you needed that courage on your wedding day!” yells Eileen and he tells her she has no idea how sorry he is.   “I have an idea of how much you hurt Sioned!” she rages, “You broke her heart!   I could have strangled you then – 

"And I could strangle you now!"

“and I could strangle you now!”

He says that he would not blame her, but refuses to leave the house until she has heard what he has to say;  

"I need you to persuade Sioned to take me back"

“I need your help, Eileen – to persuade Sioned to take me back,” but Eileen does not appear amenable to this suggestion.

Gaynor and Colin come back in

In the chip shop flat, Britt is looking at the document she took from the file when Gaynor comes up the stairs, 

Colin wants a quite traditional funeral

followed by Colin.   “Well, I think we’ve decided what kind of funeral to have,” Gaynor begins, and Colin continues that it will be quite traditional – but not too serious.   “More of a celebration,” Gaynor adds, which is what they think Izzy would want.

"I don't think a funeral will be possible"

Britt is looking anxious as they ask if she agrees;  “I don’t think a funeral will be possible,” she informs them, 

The news shocks Colin

“It’s here in black and white – Izzy’s left her body to the medical school.”   

He and Gaynor look at each other

Colin and Gaynor look at each other in utter shock.

"Things went wrong straightaway"

DJ relates his sorry tale, “Things went wrong between me and Non straightaway.”   

"I'm not interested, DJ"

Eileen is not interested and simply wants him to go;  she demands why she would talk to Sioned on his behalf.

“I made the wrong choice – and I don’t know why I did it!” he whines, “There was no trip to Ghana – Non had made it all up.”   

"You knew exactly what she was like"

Eileen points out that he knew exactly what she was like, 

"I've been such a fool"

and he groans, “I’ve been such a fool!”

"If you're looking for sympathy, don't bother!"

“If you’re looking for sympathy, don’t bother!” is Eileen’s stern reply, but he maintains that he loved them both.   “It’s easy enough to cry over spilt milk!” Eileen snarls, 

"You want try your luck with Sioned"

“Now things have ended with Non, you want to try your luck with Sioned.”

"I've been thinking about her for months"

He insists that she is the only thing he has been thinking about for months, but he could not face her – he was too ashamed.   “But not too ashamed to ask me to help you get her back,” says Eileen.  

"Life's too short, Eileen, you know that"

He explains that he heard about Izzy;  “I wouldn’t have come back otherwise – life’s too short, Eileen, you know that.”

"Do you think Sioned would listen to me?"

“Even if I did agree to help you, do you really think that Sioned would listen to me?” she demands, and DJ answers that it is worth a try, and wails that that life has no meaning without Sioned.   He hears a dog barking outside and is afraid that Sioned is coming back, but Eileen says that they just want feeding, and she has a million things to do.

"I'll take care of the dogs"

“I’ll take care of the dogs,” he volunteers, “Please let me at least do that.”   She leaves with the veg box, warning him that she does not want him to be there when she returns.   

DJ sits down on the sofa

He looks at the familiar surroundings and sits down on the sofa.

Britt had forgotten about the will

Britt explains, “Izzy just stuffed it under my nose when we all lived together, and I’d forgotten about it.”   

"It was my job to sign something like that"

Colin protests that it was his job to sign something like that, and he is quite adamant that he would have refused.   “Perhaps that’s why she came to me,” Britt reminds him, “She didn’t want to upset you.

He cannot understand why someone her age would think about such a thing, 

"She thought it was an 'amazing idea'"

and Britt says, “She’d seen a programme on the television and thought it was an amazing idea – that’s what she said.”

Gaynor is speaking to the medical school

During this conversation, Gaynor has been speaking on the phone, promising to confirm the arrangements, and announces, “Right, the medical school will collect Izzy’s body tomorrow – but they want to emphasise that they will treat the body with respect, then they will cremate it.”

"They will return the body within a year"

Colin is completely against the idea, but Gaynor tries to make it clear, “They’ll return the body to us within a year, but we’ll have a funeral then, that’s the point.   Izzy was an adult – if that was her decision . . .”

"You're suddenly taking her side!"

“Of course,” growls Colin, “You’re suddenly taking her side!   Nobody’s taking Izzy and treating her like piece of meat!”   Britt begs him not to think of it like that, as it is obvious that she wanted something good to come out of it, 

"Don't tell me what Izzy wants!"

but he shouts, “Don’t tell me what Izzy wants – she was my daughter – 

"Next-of-kin's permission is required!"

“it says here clearly in black and white that the next-of-kin’s permission is required!   I refuse!” and he throws down the will.

"I'm next-of-kin too"

Gaynor reminds him, “I’m next-of-kin too – you can’t make that decision on your own.”   

Colin furiously warns Britt not to start arguing, 

"We're going to have a proper funeral!"

stipulating, “We’re going to have a proper funeral – a decent one – nobody’s going to stop that!” and he marches out of the flat.

"I may have to put a new one in"

Garry comes out of the garage with a spark plug in his hand and advises Mark, “It’s not firing – if this clean-up doesn’t work, I’ll have to put a new one in.   

"It will only take five minutes"

“If I can find one to fit your lawnmower, it will only take five minutes.”

Mark says that his mother is soon coming home and he wants to tidy up the garden;  “When you come back to pick it up, you can help me shift some stuff in the garage – 

"Unless you want to pay me for this job!"

“unless you want to pay me for this job!”

He has a parcel for Dani

Then Mark sees Dani, for whom he has a parcel;  she excitedly realises, “It’s my home birth stuff – it will be safer than giving birth to Seren in the alleyway!   

Mark will put it on the bar for her

“Can you put it on the bar for me?”

"Now don't have a hissy fit, Garry"

She approaches Garry;  “Now don’t have a hissy fit – it’s a second baby, so there’s less risk.”   

"What about the effect it will have on the children?"

He wonders if she has considered the effect it will have on Gwern and Seren;  “To be honest with you,” she replies, 

"They're really excited"

“They’re really excited – Gwern’s going to time the contractions and Seren’s going to cut the umbilical cord.”

Jason's return

Jason has returned to Bryntirion, much to Kelly’s surprise;  

"Ifan wanted to come home"

“Just to be clear, the only reason I’m here is because Ifan wanted to come home,” then he goes in search of Ifan.   

Kelly remains silent

Kelly does not look at all pleased.

Gaynor seeks Jinx's help

Gaynor has gone to Cysgod y Glyn to see Jinx;  “I think we should take Izzy’s wishes seriously – to be honest, the thought of her . . . but that’s what she wanted, and that is what’s important.   The thing is, Colin’s against it.”   

"He may come round, Gaynor"

Jinx predicts that he may come round, but Gaynor stresses that they have to make the decision now;  “I know it’s a lot to ask, but could you talk to him?   He’s not listening to me.   

"What you said has been a comfort to him"

“I know that what you said when you came over to sympathise has been a lot of comfort to him – so perhaps hearing it from you . . . please, 

"Jinx, can you try – for Izzy?"

“Jinx, can you try – for Izzy?”

Aled has been investigating relaxation techniques

Aled is doing online research into relaxation techniques for Dani;  “This will soothe you and the baby on the big day,” he advises.   

Dani lowers herself to the sofa

She reclines awkwardly on the sofa and he plays the sounds of whales calling to each other, which makes her laugh.   

"Sounds like my stomach after too much curry!"

Tyler comments that it sounds like his stomach after too much curry.

"I thought I was supposed to be relaxing"

“The baby’s moving,” declares Dani, “It’s doing backflips – I thought I was supposed to be relaxing!   

"Aled, it's a lovely idea, but . . ."

“Aled, it’s a lovely idea, and it’s sweet that you’re excited – but just send me the link next time.”

"What do you think of that turmeric milk?"

Then he asks what she thinks of the turmeric milk he has got for her, but it appears to be in danger of making her vomit;  

"It's disgusting!"

she describes it as disgusting.   “Don’t try too hard – you’re going to be an amazing brother, OK – but no more of this!”

Tesni is vigorously exercising . . .

At Y Felin, Tesni is doing some vigorous exercises and invites Iolo to join her, 

. . . but Iolo does not want to join in

but he declines;  

Siôn asks if there are any videos in Welsh

Siôn asks whether there are any videos in Welsh, and suggests that she could make one herself.

“First, I don’t know enough about personal training, 

"And second, I don't want to!"

“and second, I don’t want to!” she answers.   She seems to be unsuccessful at persuading Iolo to do it, although recommending that he should not wear a leotard.

Jason loads the washing machine

Jason is putting clothes into the washing machine;  

"Did you have a nice time at the beach?"

Kelly asks if they had a nice time at the beach, 

"I wasn't in the mood – isn't that odd?"

but he grumbles, “It rained, and I was not really in the mood – isn’t that odd?”

"Listen, I'm sorry about phoning the police"

Anita comes in and finds him there;  “Listen, I’m sorry about phoning the police – but I didn’t feel that I had much choice,” she says, 

"Auntie Anita was trying to protect me"

and Kelly stresses that her aunt was trying to protect her.

"Because I'm so dangerous?"

“Why – because I’m so dangerous?” he snarls, and Anita maintains that Kelly is not at fault here.   

"Perhaps it's natural to you . . ."

“Perhaps it’s natural for you to think that your partner’s killed someone – 

". . . but it's not for me, OK?"

“but it’s not for me, OK?” he goes on.

"Yes, Gaynor told me"

Jinx arrives at the chip shop flat to find that Colin is not there;  Britt explains that there has been a bit of a crisis, and Jinx says there is no need to explain, as Gaynor has told him.   Colin has just come back and overhears this.

"Told you that I'm being unreasonable?"

“Gaynor said what, exactly?   No, let me guess – that I’m being unreasonable!”   

"She says that Izzy's wishes should be respected"

Jinx tells him that what is concerning Gaynor is that Izzy’s wishes should be respected;  he understands that it is hard for Colin, but he would not have come over if he did not agree.   It is a chance for something good to come of her death.

"You'd better leave!"

“I’m not angry with you,” Colin assures him, “But you’d better leave!”    Jinx does so, not before pointing out that it does not change what he has said.

"Sorry I turned on you earlier"

Colin apologises for turning on Britt earlier, and she urges him to try and find a way to change his mind;  she really thinks that it is the right thing to do.   

"If I do, it will be on my own terms"

He clearly states, “If I do, it will be on my terms – and not because of what Gaynor wants!”

"The jam had started to set"

When Britt returns to the farm, she finds that DJ has not gone, as requested, but has made himself useful, putting the jam into jars.   “The jam had started to set in the saucepan,” he informs her, “And I fed the dogs – I’ll finish up outside.   I meant what I said earlier – every word.”

"That's not the point, DJ"

Eileen does not doubt it, but that is not the point;  “I can see you need help around the farm,” he continues, 

"There's no prospect of getting your job back"

but is told that there is no prospect of him getting his old job back, even though he says he will do it for free.

"I'll work when Sioned's not here"

“I’ll stay in the caravan and work when Sioned’s not here – she won’t be any the wiser,” he suggests, but Eileen emphasises that she will know about it.   

"Sioned and I are meant to be together"

He begs her to give him a chance, maintaining, “Sioned and I are meant to be together – and I think you know it, too.   If you know something different, just say, and I’ll go!”

"Only until I decide if I'm going to help you"

Eileen seems to be capitulating;  “Fine – but only until I decide if I’m going to help you or not.   If I won’t – you’re to leave with no fuss.   

"Go near Sioned and I'll throw you out myself!"

“And if you go anywhere near Sioned, I’ll throw you out myself!”   

"She won't know that I'm here" — OH YEAH!

DJ is naïvely confident that Sioned will not know he is there, but Eileen appears very dubious.

"Cupboard on the landing"

Jason asks where the sheets for the spare bed are kept, and Kelly directs him to the cupboard on the landing.   

"I did know, deep down you wouldn't have done anything"

Then she adds, “I did know, deep down, that you wouldn’t have done anything to Izzy.”   He demands why she did not say that.

“You know that – Jase, can we please just . . .” 

"And we carry on as if nothing has happened?"

and he imagines she wants to carry on as if nothing has happened.   

"We're going to be OK – aren't we?"

“You’re angry – and I get it – but we’re going to be OK – aren’t we?” she pleads.   

Jason does not answer . . .

He shrugs his shoulders and walks away, 

. . . and Kelly breaks down in tears

leaving Kelly in tears.

Gaynor is outside the shop

Gaynor is looking at the flowers outside the shop when Colin approaches;  

"Sending Jinx to try and change my mind"

“You just can’t help yourself, can you?” he growls, “Using people – sending Jinx to try and change my mind?   But there we are, you always have to get your own way, don’t you?”   

"This is not about me, Colin"

She tries to explains that this is not about her, 

"It's always about you!"

but he snaps, “It’s always about you!”   She does not like the idea but it is what Izzy wanted and that is what counts.   

"You have never put that little girl first"

“Please – you have never put that little girl first,” he goes on.

"Don't you think I already know that?"

Gaynor demands, “What do you want me to say?   That I’m a bad mother?   Don’t you think I already know that?   Don’t you think I know I’ve let her down?   I’ll have to live with that.   

"We can make sure she gets her final wish"

“Perhaps it is too late to change that, but I can do this – I can make sure she gets her final wish.   And that’s all that’s important – that we listen to her.   

"If you're as good a father as you think you are"

“If you’re as good a father as you think you are, you’d realise that!”   

Colin is made to think

This makes Colin think.
