"How long do you think I'll be in hospital?"

Britt and Colin are waiting anxiously for the arrival of the psychiatric nurse;  Colin says that she must have been delayed.   “How long do you think I will be in?” worries Britt, “In the hospital, Col, she’s coming here to send me back there.”

"I'm going . . ."

Aaron comes downstairs and tells them that he is going;  

". . . I've got an exam, remember?"

“I’ve got an exam, remember?” and hurries out of the house.   Britt comes to the conclusion that the nurse is not coming after all, 

"Why don't we go for a picnic instead?"

and suggests that she and Colin go out for a picnic instead.   At that moment there is a knock at the door, and she now does not want Colin to answer it;  he points out that he has to.

"Sorry, I had the wrong address"

The nurse apologises that she had the wrong address and greets Britt, who simply turns away;  

"Shall we have a cup of tea before we start?"

“Shall we have a cup of tea before we start?” the nurse suggests.

"Oh, Tegwen!"

In APD, Mathew is dealing with paperwork when suddenly he is aware of Tegwen standing in front of him – and she has brought him a sausage roll.   “I thought you were cleaning at Megan’s today,” he says, but she finished early, 

"I thought I'd hassle my boyfriend"

and thought it was a chance to hassle her boyfriend.

"Boyfriend?   Is that official?"

“Boyfriend?   Is that official?” he asks, and proposes going to the Deri to celebrate.   She is not going to refuse that, and picks up the sausage roll, remarking that Ken can have it if they are going out.   

Mathew replies that he will eat it later, 

"You'll be too busy later!"

but Tegwen predicts, “You’ll be too busy later!” which he regards as a promising sign.

They would never think of looking under there

Dylan, whose hair has grown to an extreme length, extricates his mobile phone from its hidingplace under the mattress in his cell 

He calls his sister again

and dials Jaclyn’s number again.

" don't know how I'd cope without tea and biscuits"

At Hywel’s house, the nurse comments, “I don’t know how I’d cope without tea and biscuits – you’d better have one, Britt, before I scoff the lot.”   

Britt is trying to ignore her,

"Banging me up in hospital!"

and then says, “I know what you’re trying to do – banging on about biscuits and then bang me up in hospital!”   

"I'm here to help you"

She is told that the nurse is here to help her;  

"That's what they said last time"

“That’s what they said last time!” Britt snarls.

"We want you to cope – here at home"

“We just want you to cope with life again – not in hospital – but here at home.   The only reason I’d send you back to hospital was if I thought that was the safest place for you to be.”   

"So I can stay here with Col?"

Britt enquires whether she can stay here with Col, and is told that she can. 

"I really thought you wouldn't trust me"

This comes as a relief;  “I really thought you wouldn’t trust me after the fire,” but it is pointed out that it was not deliberate.   “Well, no – it wasn’t, actually – I’ve always said that, haven’t I?”   

"You must agree to work with us"

“We have a plan to help you recover – but you have to agree to work with us – take the meds regularly and attend therapy sessions,” the nurse tells her, and Britt agrees to do what they say.   “I’ll be back tomorrow to discuss it further – on time, perhaps!   Thank you for the cup of tea.”

Britt goes onto the kitchen . . .

As the nurse leaves the house, Britt goes to the kitchen cupboard 

. . . to retrieve what she put under the sink

to take out something from under the sink.

Siôn takes out a book

At Y Felin, Siôn removes a book from the shelf and is studying it when the door opens and Cai appears; 

"I can't remember the last time I read a book"

 “I can’t remember the last time I read a book,” he says and Siôn looks very surprised to see him.   

"Sorry, I couldn't find a white dove"

“Sorry, I couldn’t find a white dove,” he goes on.

"Common, Kath, give me a clue"

In the Deri, Brynmor wants a clue about Kath’s wedding dress, but she is determined that her outfit will be a surprise – if Andrea finishes it on time.   

"I'm sure you'll look like a princess"

He is sure that she will look like a princess;  

"Ready to marry my Prince Charming"

she realises, “I’m supposed to say I shall be ready to marry my Prince Charming.”

Tegwen and Mathew come in . . . 

Tegwen and Mathew come in, 

. . . which disturbs Brynmor . . .

and Brynmor looks very concerned;  

. . . and puzzles Kath

Kath notices that he has suddenly gone very quiet, which puzzles her.

"I wanted to avoid Nesta"

Cai explains to Siôn, “I wanted to avoid Nesta,” so Siôn assumes that he did not get much of a welcome.  

"She didn't want to listen"

 “She didn’t want to listen – I tried everything – I even begged.”

“But she still wants a divorce,” Siôn concludes, but Cai insists he is not here looking for sympathy, but rather to apologise for what he said.   He is told that there is no need.   

"This isn't the Siôn that Gwen married . . ."

Siôn agrees that he was was angry at the time;  “But you were right – this isn’t the Siôn that Gwen married – and it isn’t the Siôn I want to be, either.   

". . . so I'm going to look for the old me"

“So, I’m going to change – look for the old me – he’s out there somewhere, I just need to find him.   Right, I’d better get back to Y Winllan.   There are some fresh sheets in the airing cupboard – 

"I take it you want somewhere to stay"

“I take it you want somewhere to stay?”   Cai is grateful for the offer.

Jaclyn hears her phone ringing

Jaclyn is just putting something away in the fridge when her phone sounds and she discovers that it is her brother;  

"It's that Dylan again!"

she hesitates for a moment before answering it.

"Have you decided?"

“I can’t talk for long – have you decided?” says Dylan, “You want the money and I want a way out – it’s really, really simple.”   

"It made simple for you"

She replies that it may be simple for him, 

"Why are you holding back?"

and he wonders why she is holding back.

“Believe it or not, it’s hard to trust you – I want a guarantee that you’ve got that money,” she tells him, but he protests he cannot do that when he is stuck in a cell.   

"No guarantee – no deal"

“If not, no deal,” she stipulates.

"You have to trust me, Jacs"

“Listen, there’s no way I can sort something like that in here,” he growls, “And I know I’m asking a lot, but you have to trust me, Jacs.   I want you to have the money – I want to show you that I’m sorry.   You’ll get the money, I promise, so, please, Jacs, does we have a deal?”

"One one condition"

“Yes,” she replies, “On one condition.”

Brynmor's mind is elsewhere

In the Deri, Kath is going on about wedding photos and not wanting a lot of fuss, 

He is convinced they are talking about him

but Brynmor’s attention is focused on Tegwen, who is, with Mathew, laughing about something, and he suspects he knows what it is.

“We’ll get everyone to take photos on their phones and Mark can take a few nice ones for the album – and then off we go to enjoy ourselves,” says Kath.   Brynmor cannot take his eyes off Tegwen, 

"You haven't been listening, have you?"

and Kath realises that he has not been listening to a word she was saying.   

"I agree with every word you said"

He rather lamely replies that he agrees with every word she said.

Mathew goes to the bar . . . 

Mathew gets up to fetch another drink 

. . . where he smiles at them

from the recently renovated bar, 

"Wipe that smile off your face, sunshine!"

and Brynmor snarls at him, “Wipe that smile off your face, sunshine!”   Then he jumps up and goes across to Tegwen.

"You know what we said"

“I thought I could trust you,” he tells her, “You know what we said – what happens in Brynawelon stays in Brynawelon!”   

Then he heads towards Mathew

Then he goes to the bar, where Mathew is looking confused, 

"It was the only excitement I had"

and informs him, “I don’t know what she’s told you, but I had nothing else to do, right?   Every day dragged by and it was the only excitement I had.”

"Brynmor, I haven't told him . . ."

Tegwen finally intervenes;  “Brynmor, I haven’t told him.   I wouldn’t do that to you.   

". . . sit down and finish your cup of tea"

“Sit down and finish your cup of tea!”

"I want to know exactly what's going on – now!"

Kath on the other hand instructs him to stay where he is;  “I want to know exactly what’s going on – now!”

"You can't do this to me, Jacs"

As their phone conversation continues, Dylan insists that Jaclyn cannot do this to him, but she maintains that it is the only way.   “We need each other,” he whines.   

"I have to do what's best for me – for once!"

She replies that he may need her, but she has to do what is best for her, for once.   

"How am I going to get the money to you?"

“If I can’t see you again, how am I going to get the money to you?” he demands, “Have you thought about that?”

"Do a bank transfer"

“I’m not talking about cash in a suitcase – do a bank transfer,” she points out, but he is adamant that they have to meet face-to-face.   “Don’t you blackmail me!” she warns him, 

"Just one last meeting"

but he maintains that he wants one last meeting, so that they can say goodbye.

As expected she caves in to his demands, agreeing to one last meeting, 

"OK - then, that's it!"

insisting that will be it, then terminates the call.

Ha has a fit of temper

In a fit of rage, Dylan throws down the phone and knocks everything off the shelf in his cell;  he sits, looking despondent.

"Right, who is going first?"

Now the four of them are sitting round a table in the Deri and Kath says that she has got all day;  “Who is going first?”   

"I can't say anything – it breaks staff rules"

Tegwen is unable to say anything, because it breaks staff rules, and urges Brynmor to tell Kath.

"I did something I shouldn't have"

“I did something,” he begins, “Something I shouldn’t have – I nearly got thrown out of Brynawelon.   I was on my final warning.”   Kath is horrified and wonders what on earth he did.

"I organised poker nights"

“I . . . organised poker nights,” he says, and the other three start sniggering.   “I had to go in front of the management committee and everything.”

"Thank goodness for that . . ."

Kath greets this revelation with gales of laughter;  “Thank goodness for that!” but he is at a loss to understand her reaction.   “Who cares about a bit of poker?” she demands, 

". . . I thought you were poking this one!"

adding rather crudely, “I thought you were poking this one!” as she points at Tegwen, who regards this suspicion as ridiculous.

"Me and Brynmor?   No way!"

“Me and Brynmor?   No way!” she exclaims, but Kath tells her not to be like that, as, 

"You would get no-one better than him!"

if she was to have a fling with a resident, she would get no-one better than him.   Kath wonders why he did not tell her, and he says that it was too embarrassing;  the residents’ families were after his blood.

"Uncle Twm's savings ended up under your mattress"

“Because half of great-uncle Twm’s savings ended up under your mattress,” Tegwen explains, 

"I was just lucky"

and he regards himself as simply lucky.   

"No-one forced then to do it"

Kath stresses that they knew what the risks were, and no one forced them to take part.   “I’ve lost count of how many complaints we received – the home’s never seen anyone like him,” says Tegwen.

"You're a dark horse, Brynmor"

Kath is eager to hear some more gossip about Brynmor, while Mathew describes him as a ‘dark horse’.  

Brynmor is now going to buy the next round to celebrate the fact that they all understand each other.

"Can you look after Arwen?"

Jinx and Ffion walk through the alley, and she asks if he can look after Arwen, as she has something to sort out before coming home.   

Cai is approaching, and diverts into the shop

Then they see Cai, coming along the street, and he goes into the shop to avoid them.   

"Just wait until the staff meeting"

“Brr – is there a chill in the air, or is it just me?” remarks Jinx, “If you think that’s awkward, wait until the staff meeting.”   

"You're enjoying this far too much"

Ffion accuses him of enjoying this far too much.   

"I told you he'd be nothing but trouble"

“I told you he’d be nothing but trouble, and here we are!”

She grumbles that not everyone is as sensible as him;  

"Right, if you've stopped being smug"

“If you’ve stopped being smug, I’ve got work to do.”

"I'm glad I've seen you, Eileen"

Cai examines a loaf of bread in the shop, and Eileen walks in;  he says that he is glad to have seen her.   “Shame I can’t say the same!” she answers, and he tries to convince her that she has appointed the right person.

"That's not in the job description"

“I don’t think ‘has to sleep with the head teacher’ was in the job description – you made a fool of me and the school,” she admonishes him, “Do you know how much trouble you’ve caused?”   

"No-one else knows"

His excuse is that nobody else knows;  “Did you really think that could be kept quiet in Cwmderi?” she asks, 

"They'd seen Val's performance"

“One of the governors phoned – they had seen Val’s performance and I had to pretend I knew nothing.   I was so embarrassed!

“The governors have been talking – 

"If it was up to me . . ."

“if it was up to me you wouldn’t be allowed anywhere near the school, but luckily for you, not everyone agrees with me.”

He cannot believe that he is off the hook, 

They have another shopper

and as a stranger wanders into the shop, she agrees that he is – for now;  “But you’ll have to talk to the committee, tell them the affair is over, and that you and Ffion will only have a professional relationship.”

"You'll be out of that school like a shot"

He understands that, but is warned, “I’ll be keeping a close eye on you, and if I hear that something’s going on between you two, you’ll be out of that school like a shot!”

"I'm a good teacher, Eileen"

He insists that she will not regret it and that he is a good teacher;  “Perhaps you are – but you’re a terrible example!” is her evaluation, as he agrees to be completely professional.   “You have a lot of work to do to regain my trust in you, Mr Rossiter!”

Jaclyn pours herself a drink . . .

Jaclyn pours herself a drink and smiles, 

. . . but finds it does not taste right

though she does not seem to like the taste of the wine.   She sits down and thinks.

A rather impressive cake

Britt has made a cake which certainly impresses Colin;  

"That's for Aaron"

“That’s for Aaron for working towards his exam,” she says, and calls him.   Colin predicts that his earplugs are glued inside his ears, and then there is a knock at the door.

Britt is afraid that the nurse is back, after changing her mind;  

"I knew she was too nice"

“I knew she was too nice – she’s deceived me.”   

In fact, their visitor is Ffion 

However, the visitor is Ffion, who would like a word with them.

"How does pie and mash sound?"

Cai has been preparing the meal at Y Felin, and when Iolo comes in, says, “How does pie and mash sound?”   

"You'd better disappear before Dad sees you"

Iolo recommends that he disappears before Siôn sees him, but is reassured that Siôn knows he is there;  

"I've apologised"

“I said stupid things and I’ve apologised.”

“Why?   To keep your board and lodging?” asks Iolo, but Cai answers that he has lost enough family without losing them as well.  

"Things don't go well with Nesta"

Things did not go well with Nesta;  “Twm and Lleucs have rugby tonight, and I always take them – Nesta will probably forget.   I’m so far away now.   When I tried for the job, I thought they were coming with me.”

"Perhaps it's a good thing she found out"

Iolo thinks that perhaps it is a good thing that Nesta found out about Ffion before the whole family moved there.   

"It's all my fault"

Cai admits that it is his fault, and is told that he does not have to accept the job;  

"There are schools in North Wales"

“There are schools in  North Wales.”

Cai maintains that is Nesta’s patch, and he does not feel at home there;  “So you’ll have to make the most of the weekends – go up there on Fridays – I’m sure you can make it work,” Iolo suggests, but Cai doubts that he will be allowed to do so. reminding Iolo that are they are talking about Nesta.

"You must have made a mistake"

Britt confidently asserts that Ffion has made a mistake;  she is equally confident that she has not.   Colin says that they saw Aaron going to school, but it is emphasised that he was not there for the exam, then Colin suspects that he may have been sitting right at the back.   

"No, he definitely missed the exam"

It is pointed out that they have a register and Aaron has definitely missed the exam.

Britt dashes upstair to confront Aaron

Britt flies off the handle and marches upstairs to sort this out with Aaron;  

"He's worked hard for those exams"

Colin comments that this does not make any sense, and Aaron has worked hard for these exams.   

"Perhaps nerves got the better of him"

Ffion wonders if nerves got the better of him, which can happen in exams, but Colin did not see any signs of this when he left this morning.

"He's not there, Col . . ."

Then Britt comes storming back downstairs, with the news that he is not there;  

". . . he's gone!"

“His clothes aren’t there – or his charger – he’s gone!”
