Sioned is deep in thought

Sioned is sitting, thinking and looking anxiously at her ring;

"Have you had any breakfast, Sioned?"

when her mother comes in, she says she does not feel like eating anything.   Eileen tells her, “I want you to look at the cake decorations – I take it you don’t want plastic figures on the top?”

"I'm not in the mood today"

Sioned had not thought about it, and is not in the mood today.

"You insisted DJ should go to Bryntirion"

Eileen continues, “I know that you miss him, but it was you who insisted that DJ should go to Bryntirion until the dress arrived, and I know you’re doing most of the work on the farm today while he’s helping Mathew – but it’s only temporary.”

She can see that something is wrong and asks, “Has anything happened?”

"I had a drink with Dylan – a couple actually"

Sioned admits that she had a drink with Dylan the other night – actually a couple of drinks.

"You haven't slept with Dylan?"

Eileen immediately jumps to the conclusion, “Oh, you didn’t?   All that work, the organising, the cost – and you go and sleep with Dylan!”

"I'd never do that to DJ!"

Sioned emphasises that she would never do that to DJ;  “What do you think I am?   Nothing happened, just a couple of drinks and a chat, that’s all.”

"Why7 are you looking so miserable, then?"

Her mother calms down, but asks why Sioned is looking so miserable, in that case.

"Something Dylan said about DJ"

“Something Dylan said – something about DJ,” Sioned answers, but before she can elaborate, there is a knock at the door.   Eileen takes delivery of the wedding dress,

"This will cheer you up, Sioned!"

and is sure that this will cheer up Sioned, but it does not appear to do so.

APD is using storage space at Bryntirion

Outside APD, DJ is taking some stuff in the van to store at Bryntirion;  “I told Mathew that he could keep a few items in the garage while he’s sorting out things here.”

"Ifan concerns me . . ."

Jason’s mind is obviously not on the job, and he admits that Ifan is concerning him;

". . . Dylan isn't fit to look after him"

“Look, I know Dylan isn’t fit to look after him – he’s not safe with those two!   I just need a way to prove it - that’s all.

"Can you think of anything that would help?"

“DJ, can you think of anything that would help?”

"Well, you know Sara better than anyone"

DJ points out that Jason knows Sara better than anyone, so if he does not know of any wrongdoings, perhaps there are not any.

"It's easy to forget these details, isn't it?"

“Well, it’s easy to forget these details, isn’t it?” replies Jason, “Hey, I’ll tell you what – I’ll come to Bryntirion with you.   Pricing up this job will only take five minutes,

"Don't tell Mathew!"

“don’t go without me – and don’t tell Mathew.”

"We were supposed to be meeting in the café"

An angry Aled confronts Tyler;  “I thought we were supposed to be meeting in the café,” but is told that Tyler is working in the Deri and just having a break.   “You could have told me – can we meet later?” Aled demands.

"There's a performance at the nursery"

Tyler comes up with the excuse that the nursery is doing a performance this afternoon, and Aled is keen to see Greta there, but is informed that only two adults are allowed – and that includes Iolo.

"It's time that people saw that we are serious"

“It’s time people saw that you and I are serious,” says Aled, adding, “Why don’t we move in together?”   Tyler argues that he cannot leave Dani at the moment, with the way things are,

Aled rushes out

and Aled storms out, just as Kelly comes in, wondering if it was something she said.

"Can you change these two pence coins?"

“Sorry for barging in – can you change these two pence coins into notes for me?” she asks, “I’m desperate – I could build an extension out of all these coins!”

Garry is not going to help the café

Apparently Garry has issued instructions that they should not help the café while it is doing its ‘Choose Your Price’ promotion, as it is stealing Deri customers.

"The punters are only spending coppers!"

“All the punters might be in the café, but they’re only spending coppers,” she complains,

"I wonder if I can make lasagne out of coppers?"

“I wonder if I can make lasagne out of coppers?”

Angharad is back — watch out, Gaynor!

Walking along the back street comes Angharad, evidently back from Australia.

She spots Hywel coming out of the café

She spies Hywel coming out of the café, and he seems pleased to see her;  he is also happy to have obtained a cup of coffee for 10p.

She announces that she is working for a children’s book publisher now, and visits nurseries;  “I love to see the children playing and enjoying themselves,” she says,

Angharad turns on the waterworks

degenerating into tears.

"What's the matter, Angharad?"

He wonders what is wrong, and she comes up with another far-fetched tale, as she so often does.

"You're late picking Ifan up!"

Sara moans that Jason is late picking up Ifan;  “I had to give him his lunch – he was starving – you were supposed to give him his lunch!” she rants.   Now she will be late to meet the solicitor;

"The solicitor will be interested to hear you were late"

“But he will be interested to hear that you were late,” she threatens.

"Right, I'll sort out Ifan for you"

“Right, you’d better go – I’ll sort out Ifan for you,” he says, but she refuses to leave him alone in the house, suspecting that he would go through their stuff,

"That would be too low, even for you"

but then considers that perhaps would be too low, even for him.

“Have you finished?” she asks Ifan (although we do not see him) “Dadi’s taking you to nursery now,”

Jason is on the lookout for evidence

while Jason notices some paperwork lying around.

"The funeral was six weeks ago!"

In the Deri, Angharad is telling Hywel her tale of woe;  “The funeral was six weeks ago,” and he does not know what to say.   Allegedly her ex-husband was driving, and got away with only a broken thumb.

"She suffered catastrophic injuries!"

“The damage was all on the other side of the car – I don’t blame Jeremy, but I would never have put her in the front seat.   She didn’t have a chance – she suffered catastrophic injuries.”

"You're doing too much, too early"

Hywel thinks that Angharad is doing too much, too early, and has gone back to work very quickly,

"I had to do something"

but she insists that she had to do something.   “Sometimes it’s better to just keep going, isn’t it?” he sympathises.

"I shall never get over it"

She realises that she is never going to get over it, as he himself knows.

"Losing a child – there's nothing worse"

“He sighs, “Losing a child – there’s nothing worse, but no-one was responsible for what happed to Meilyr, of course.   Is this other bloke going to be prosecuted, then?”

"It's not going to bring back Delyth, is it?"

Angharad sobs, “Yes – but that’s not going to bring back Delyth, is it?”

"This is what she wanted to wear to nursery"

At the bar, Iolo shows Tyler a photo of what Greta wanted to wear to nursery this morning.

"What time is the performance at the nursery?"

Aled walks in and asks what time the performance is at the nursery this afternoon;

Tyler signals to Iolo . . .

Tyler replies that it is at 2:30pm,

. . . who confirms what he says

and Iolo looks puzzled, but nevertheless confirms this.

"We're moving in together"

Aled has been to Tomos ac Ellis and picked up some flat details;  “We’re moving in together,” he tells Iolo,

"It's not definite yet"

but Tyler adds that it is not definite yet.   “It would be nice to start a family,” Aled goes on and Tyler is keen to stress that they take one step at a time.

"I'll see you at the 'performance'!"

“Congratulations, boys – I’ll see you at the performance!” says Iolo as he leaves.

"Why did you say that?"

“Why did you say that?   We haven’t decided anything yet,” Tyler snarls,

"It's time for us to take the next step"

but Aled maintains that it is time for them to take the next step, and he thought Iolo should know.   “If Iol needs to know anything, I’ll tell him!” insists Tyler.

"I'm not important to you!"

“You’re more committed to Iolo and Dani – I’m not important to you!” moans Aled, “If you are, prove it, then!   Say we can look for a flat together.”   Tyler agrees that they will – at some point.

Sioned has tried on the wedding dress

Sioned walks into the room at Penrhewl, wearing the wedding dress, which her mother describes as perfect.

"It should be for the price!"

“It should be for the price!” Sioned exclaims, but her mother reminds her that she is paying, and says that DJ will not be able to believe his luck.

"I don't know if I can do it, Mam!"

At this, Sioned’s tears begin flowing;  “I don’t know if I can do it, Mam!” she wails, “I don’t know if I want to marry DJ!”

"Thanks for your help, Jason"

At Bryntirion, DJ has put away the stuff in the garage, and Jason has made a discovery;

"Look what I found in the attic"

“Look what I found in the attic,” he says, “Sara’s got all kinds of things in here – look!”

"You're getting a bit too creepy now"

DJ considers that he may be just getting a bit too creepy now, and points out that he should not be going through her things.

"I forgot – Sara used to be an escort"

Then Jason finds a diary, and remarks, “Oh yes – I forgot – Sara used to be a escort, didn’t she?”   DJ did not know anything about that.

Ieuan Griffiths' name is mentioned

“Ieuan Griffiths – here we go, boys!

"I must have a little chat with Ieuan Griffiths!

“All I have to do now is have a little chat with Ieuan Griffiths!”

"Oh – here comes trouble!"

Then there is a knock at the door, and Sara has come looking for Jason;  “Oh, no – I was to supposed pick Ifan up from the nursery half an hour ago!” Jason groans.

"Where have you been, Jason?"

She demands where he has been, and reports that Ifan is in the car;  “He cried himself to sleep because you forgot about him!

"You're not fit to look after a gerbil!"

“You’re not fit to look after a gerbil, never mind your own son!” she snarls, “Come and get him!”

Jason offers profuse apologies

Once more Jason apologises.

"He said DJ and Non looked close"

Sioned continues her explanation to her mother;  “Then he said he’d seen DJ talking to Non and that they looked close.”

"You don't believe Dylan, surely?"

Eileen is surprised that she believes Dylan, confident that he is making it up to stir up trouble.

"But Non is back"

“But Non is back here and they were in a relationship,” Sioned continues, “And it wasn’t him who finished with her.”   Eileen points out that they both live in the same village, so they are bound to see each other.   “I know that, Mam, but DJ lied – he said he hadn’t seen anyone in the Deri.

"What else is he hiding?"

“If he can lie about that, there’s no telling what else he’s hiding.   Every time I get close to finding happiness, I lose it all at the last minute.”

Her mother takes issue with this, but Sioned wails, “This is the second time I find out my fiancé has been unfaithful!”

"That doesn't mean he is cheating"

Eileen stresses that DJ has not been unfaithful;  she accepts that he has been stupid and should have been honest about Non, but that does not mean he is cheating.

"I'm desperate not to lose him, Mam!"

Sioned is desperate not to lose him,

"Discuss it with him as soon as possible!"

and is advised to discuss this with him as soon as possible, so she can stop worrying and carry on with the arrangements, because there is a lot to do.

“How did you end up with Dylan?   I thought you were meeting Nia,” says Eileen,

"Nia didn't turn up"

but she is told that her friend did not turn up.   Eileen realises that she does not have a bridesmaid,

"I'll be your matron of honour"

and volunteers to be her matron of honour.

"You're giving me away – if there's a wedding!"

“You can’t – you’ll be giving me away,” Sioned reminds her, adding, “If there’s a wedding.”   Her mother is quite determined that there will be a wedding;  if she is giving away her daughter,

"I';ll make sure there's a wedding!"

she will make sure that there is a wedding.

Kelly has sorted out her small change

Kelly has bagged up the small change when Sara appears in the café flat;  Kelly says that Jason is in the bedroom,

Sara brings instructions for Jason . . .

and Sara puts down a sheet of paper.   “It’s a list of what he has to do and where he needs to be,” Sara points out, “He forgot to pick up Ifan today!”

. . . who is cowering in the bedroom

When she has gone, Jason comes out of hiding

"I can't believe you forgot to pick Ifan up!"

and is reprimanded, “She brought you this!   I can’t believe forgot to pick Ifan up – what were you doing, Jase?   You’ll have to set an alarm, because it’s all in the preparation!

"Make sure everything is ready!"

“No mistakes – make sure everything is ready!”

"Keep an eye on Ifan"

He admits that she is spot on as he rushes out of the flat;

"Where are you going now?"

Kelly demands where he is going, and he tells her, “Keep an eye on Ifan – I’ll be back in half an hour, tops, I promise – trust me.”

Iolo again visits Tyler

Iolo arrives at the Deri flat, and Tyler is glad to see him;

"I'm sorry – I needed a bit of time"

he wanted to explain about the ‘performance’.   “I’m sorry, I needed a bit of time – and we’re not moving in together, by the way –

"I'd never do that without discussing it with you"

I’d never make a decision like that without discussing it with you.”

Iolo wants to know what is going on, and Tyler admits, “I like Aled – I enjoy spending time with him, but he’s keen to settle down, and I’m not.”

"Something has happened, hasn't it?"

Iolo assumes that something has happened,

"We seem to be in different places"

and is told that recently they seem to be in different places, and Tyler does not know what to do.

"It's not fair to string Aled along"

“Well, if you’re not happy, it’s not fair to string Aled along,” Iolo tells him, “And it’s not fair to drag me into this, either.   Decide what you want –

"Being misled isn't a nice feeling!"

“because being misled isnt a nice feeling – trust me!” as Iolo knows from experience.

"What's the dress like?"

Sioned has gone to Bryntirion;  “So the dress has arrived, then,” says DJ, “What’s it like?”

"You're not supposed to ask"

Sioned reprimands him for asking, and he is sure that that it is lovely.   Then they hear the back door open and Jason comes in, complaining that he has to prepare lunch and dinner for Ifan for a whole week.

"Every tin in the café is massive!"

“Kelly’s got coins all over the flat – and every tin in the café is massive!” he moans, “So you just carry on – you won’t even know I’m here.”

"I thought we would have the place to ourselves"

DJ apologises that he thought they would have the place to themselves.

"You saw Non the other day"

“You saw Non the other day,” Sioned begins, “In the Deri,” and he replies that he saw her briefly.   “Why didn’t you say when I asked?” she enquires.

"I didn't think it was worth mentioning"

He says that she was on her way out and he did not think it was worth mentioning.

"Is anything going on?"

“It doesn’t matter who told me,” she continues, “But you lied to me.”   He would have said if he thought it was important.   “Is there anything going on?” she wants to know.

"I have no feelings for Non!"

DJ assures her that he has no feelings for Non – in fact he does not even remember seeing her.

"Where's Mam's big saucepan with two handles?"

They are interrupted by Jason, who wants to know where the large saucepan with two handles is kept,

"Cupboard under the sink"

and DJ directs him to the cupboard under the sink.

“He should spend more time with the boy instead of running around like a fool,” DJ says,

"Non lies to get sympathy"

“Listen, Non is just the same as she used to be – she lies to make herself look better and to get sympathy.”

"But you did love her once"

Sioned reminds him that he loved her once, and he acknowledges that.

"Until I found out what she's like"

“Until I found out what she’s like – she’s a liar, she’s odd, her clothes are terrible –

"There's nothing pretty about her!"

“and there’s nothing pretty about her!”

"That's a bit  cruel, DJ"

Sioned regards that as a rather cruel comment, and he adds, “I’m rather embarrassed that I liked her, now that I’m going out with you.

"It's you I love, Sioned!"

“You’ve got nothing to worry about, honest.   It’s you I love!”

"I love you, too, DJ"

At last Sioned smiles and confirms that she loves him, too.   As they prepare to return to Penrhewl, DJ still shows some signs of guilt

"I'm sure Gaynor will feel the same" — don't bank on it!

In the Deri, Hywel expresses his sympathy to Angharad, and is sure that Gaynor will feel similarly.

"It would be nice to see Gaynor again"

She thanks him for the chat, adding that it would be nice to see Gaynor again.

"You're always welcome at Llwyncelyn"

He assures her, rather inadvisedly that she is always welcome at Llwyncelyn.

Some more tears, for dramatic effect

She turns on the waterworks again, and says she had better go,

"I'll be back before long"

on the way out telling Tyler that she will be back before long.
