"OK, thanks, then Elin" |
Jason is speaking to his cousin Elin on the phone, and thanks her for her advice,
"I should be grateful Dylan didn't tell her" |
then he informs Kelly that he was told that he should be grateful Dylan has not told Sara that he broke into the house.
"She's right!" |
“She’s right!” Kelly angrily tells him,
"I want to know why, Kelly" |
but he wants to know why, as it is suspicious. Kelly does not know, and reminds him that he should be at work already; then his phone rings, and he finds that it is a call from Mathew. “I’m on my way,” he says, “Why can’t you go to the salon on your own?”
"It's not my fault APD has too much work" |
Meanwhile Kelly is unable to find her phone, as Jason continues to emphasise, “It’s not my fault that APD has got too much work on –
"Has Dani paid the last bill?" |
“has Dani paid the last bill? No? Well, a contract works both ways – Mathew, don’t shout – it doesn’t suit you!”
Now Kelly has located her phone, and goes downstairs to the café;
"I'll be there in two minutes" |
Jason points out to Mathew that everyone gets stressed. “Right, put the kettle on – I’ll be there in two minutes.”
"It's been dead lately" |
In the café, Kelly is looking worried; “I hope we’ll be busier today – it’s been dead lately,” she tells Luned,
Here comes a customer |
but at that moment a customer arrives, in the form of Mark.
"Good morning – Mr Happy" |
Kelly greets him, “Good morning – Mr Happy,” as he sits down at a table, looking very depressed.
He has a look at the menu |
He briefly glances at the menu, then gets up and is about to leave;
"Whoa – don't you want anything?" |
“Hey – whoa!” Kelly shouts, “Don’t you want anything?”
Not at those prices – I just wanted a bowl of soup |
He replies, “Not at those prices! I’m overdrawn, there’s no food or cash in the house and Mam’s still away. I was hoping to get something quick, like soup, but never mind.” Kelly tells him that she has great sympathy for him, but the café can’t afford to give food away for free.
"There's a place where people pay what they can afford" |
Luned pipes up, “There’s a place in Cardiff where customers pay what they can afford.” Mark can see that it must be really popular, and Luned adds, “It’s always full, apparently.”
"I don't like to think they can;t afford to come here" |
Kelly does not like to think that people cannot afford to come to the café,
"There are a lot of us around" |
and Mark comments that there are a lot of them around. “Look, I’ve got £1.10, if that helps,” he suggests,
"Go and get him a bowl of soup" |
and kindhearted Kelly tells Luned to go and get him a bowl of soup.
"And some bread as well, please" |
“And some bread as well, please, if that’s all right, Luned,” he adds.
Eifion is stirring things again |
Izzy is looking at her phone when Eifion comes in, quipping,
"Oh, I forgot – you've been suspended!" |
“No work today? Oh no, I forgot – you’ve been suspended of course!” She says that he ought to be in work by now, but he protests he has had no breakfast, “And there’s no bread!”
"You do live above a shop" |
Izzy points out that they live above a shop, and he continues, “Who’s stolen all the bread? Perhaps I should call the police!” He tells Mathew that he is going to get some bread,
Mathew complains about his staff |
and Mathew fears that he will not have a business left, what with the behaviour of Eifion and Jason.
"And I'll be in jail! Eifion reported me" |
Izzy adds, furiously, “And with him and the Antur, I’ll be in jail – Eifion reported me to the police. He didn’t quite admit it, but he’s given plenty of hints.”
Mathew warns her that she cannot accuse him without proof, as they do not want him to vanish again, although she says it would make no difference to her if he did.
"Don't accuse him of going to the police" |
“I’m up to my eyes in work and I need him,” Mathew stresses, “So please don’t accuse him of going to the police, for my sake!”
Eifion enjoys eavesdropping |
Eifion has been listening from just outside the door, and looks very pleased with himself.
Another of Britt's purchases |
In the Deri, Britt is unpacking a box; “New dishes for the Deri – I ordered them a while ago,” she says,
"He'll find out soon enough" |
and Dani wonders if Garry knows. “He’ll find out soon enough,” is the reply. Dylan is sitting nearby with his laptop, and taking note of what happens.
Mathew wants a word with Dani |
Mathew comes in to talk to Dani, and Britt says she will take out the box to the back.
"I hope someone's working on the salon |
Dani hopes that someone from APD is working in the salon, but Mathew wants to check if she has paid the two invoices yet, as there is nothing in APD’s account.
“Sorry, I had to pay the bill for the new equipment,” is Dani’s reply,
"You should be paying APD first" |
and he advises that she should not be paying other companies before APD. They are working hard for her,
"You know I'm good for the money" |
but she stresses, “You know I’m good for the money,”
Dylan is taking an interest |
and Dylan is now taking more of an interest.
“It’s just that I’ve had loads on lately,” she adds, and Mathew leaves.
Dani is looking worried |
Dylan is thinking that he could turn this situation to his advantage, but Dani looks rather worried.
Mark hears the door open . . . |
Mark is playing some computer game on the television when the door opens and his mother returns;
. . . and starts some hurried tidying |
she says that she is better after having a break.
"Nothing much has happened here" |
He asks where she has been, and is told that Kath visited Oswestry, which was relaxing. “Nothing much has happened here,” he says,
"Yes, I can see that" |
and she can see that from the state of the house, with things strewn everywhere. “Sorry, I would have tidied up if I knew you were coming.
"There's not much chance of us . . ." |
“I’ll clean up now, and then I’ll up and pack. You know, after what I did, I don’t think there’s much chance of us . . .”
Is Kath up to something? |
She agrees that he is probably right, but may be planning something.
"You're going to do that, Kelly?" |
Anita is angry; “You’re going to do that, because Luned told you about this café?” she rages.
"They're doing really well" |
Kelly replies that they are doing really well, and there are photos of the place, absolutely rammed; she invites Anita to have a look.
"Typical of Mark Jones" |
Anita looks at the laptop, commenting, “It’s typical of Mark Jones to take advantage, isn’t it?”
"It's an amazing idea, Auntie Anita" |
Kelly regards it as an amazing idea and begs her aunt to help,
"We won't be able to cope on our own" |
predicting that she and Luned will not be able to cope on their own.
"I was planning to go to the garden centre" |
Anita was planning to go to the garden centre, but Kelly encourages her to go tomorrow, with a big fat bonus from the profits.
Anita is sceptical about making a profit, but, according to Kelly, it is, “A no-brainer!”
Eifion has come back to use the toilet |
Eifion returns to the shop flat, explaining that he came home to use the toilet;
"I do live here, you know" |
“I do live here,” he reminds Izzy, and she says that is unfortunate.
"You might not have to put up with me much longer" |
“Well, you might not have to put up with me for much longer,” he goes on,
"You're not moving out?" |
and she anticipates he is moving out, but he explains,
"No – you're going to prison!" |
“No, not me – you – when you go to prison for stealing! That’s what you deserve – we both know that.”
"I knew it was you who reported me!" |
“I knew it was you who reported me!” she shrieks, “Don’t deny it!” Eifion does not like the fact that she is accusing him, and he does not think that Mathew will be very happy either. She tries to apologise and begs him not to tell Mathew.
"Good luck explaining to Mathew" |
“All right – you can tell Mathew instead – I’m taking the rest of the day off,” Eifion decides, “I’m not in the mood for work. Good luck explaining to Mathew what you’ve done!” and he walks out of the flat.
"A new scheme starting in the café" |
Kelly comes into the Deri, and informs Britt, “There’s a new scheme starting in the café today – customers can choose how much they want to play for food and drink. Can you spread the word, like?”
"It will cost you a fortune, Kelly" |
Britt can see that this will cost her a fortune, but Kelly has a rather naïve faith in her customers.
"All right, we shall see!" |
“All right, we shall see,” Britt tells her.
She spots Jason, huddled in a corner |
On her way out of the Deri, she notices Jason hiding in a corner, and asks what he is doing there;
"I'm watching Dylan Moneybags" |
“Just pretend I’m not here,” he whispers, “I’m watching Dylan Moneybags.” She informs him that he is supposed to be at work.
“He doesn’t know I’m here, so stop talking to me,” Jason continues,
"You're going over the top now, Jase!" |
Kelly warns Jason, “You’re going over the top now, OK? Just ignore him.”
"Sara not with you today, Dyls?" |
When she has left him, Jason calls out, “Sara not with you today, then, Dyls?”
Kelly stops in the doorway |
and Kelly stops in the doorway.
"We don't have to do everything together" |
Dylan replies that they do not have to do everything together;
"Or tell each other everything, either" |
“Or tell each other everything either,” Jason adds, What’s going on with you?” He ignores Kelly’s signals to him to stop.
“I thought you’d be happy I haven’t told her,” Dylan remarks without looking up from his laptop.”
"You don't want Ifan, do you?" |
Jason says that it works out great for him, but why does he not tell Sara; “That would sort out this custody business, wouldn’t it? You don’t want Ifan, do you? That’s why! You don’t want a young child running around the house full-time.”
"That's quite an accusation" |
Dylan does not appreciate this, threatening; “That’s quite an accusation – and it is not true.
Then Dylan turns threatening |
“It’s risky, making baseless accusations against me, but there we are – that’s just you, isn’t it, Jase? You’ve always liked gambling.”
It looks as if fisticuffs might ensue |
Kelly shouts to Jason,
Jason appears pretty determined . . . |
who looks as if he is going to hit Dylan, and Britt orders both Jason and Kelly out of the pub;
. . . but Britt restores order to the pub |
then she tells Dylan to sit down, and he looks quite pleased with his performance.
Dani is tidying in the flat |
Dani is tidying in the Deri flat when a message alert appears on her laptop;
She sees a troubling message on the laptop |
she appears very concerned with what she reads.
"Right, I'll see you, Mam" |
Mark has packed his bag and says to his mother, “Right – I’ll see you,” but, just as he opens the front door,
"Do you have something to tell me?" |
she tells him to wait, wondering if he has something to tell her.
"I'm so sorry for hurting you with the phone" |
He tells her, “I’m so sorry for hurting you with the phone, Mam,”
"Why didn't you say so?" |
and she wants to know why he did not say so at the time. “I was angry,” he replies.
“And stubborn,” she prompts him;
"You deserve better, Mam!" |
he again emphasises that he is really sorry and that she deserves better.
Kath is sorry, too |
“I’m sorry, too,” Kath tells him, “I’ve been childish and went away on holiday without telling you where I was going.” He does not blame her, but she has come to the conclusion that they are both as bad as each other.
"At least you didn't throw a phone at me!" |
“At least, you didn’t throw a phone at me,” Mark reminds her,
"I might have done, if I had one in my hand" |
but she says that she might have done if she had one in her hand at the time. She assumes that Non is not there,
He does not want to talk about Non |
but he does not want to talk about it.
"It's been a huge strain on is" |
“I wasn’t expecting her to be here,” Kath continues, “It’s obvious that the whole situation has been a huge strain on you – on both of us. Small steps, yeah?” Mark nods his head.
“Please say you’ll stay – I don’t want to live here alone,” she informs him,
"Nor do I, Mam" |
and neither does he; “It’s too quiet, you see.” He maintains that it was a lot nicer when everyone lived there – Ricky, Debbie, Tyler.
Kath agrees, but only in the case of Ricky and Tyler,
"I know – we'll take in a lodger" |
then has the idea that they will take in a lodger; “Everything would be all right then!” Mark says that it would depend on who it was, and it is agreed that they would have to select carefully, but would have money coming in.
"That's a good idea" |
He thinks that is a good idea,
"Right, cup of tea, then" |
and now she will go and make a cup of tea
The crowds have now vacated the café |
The staff in the café are exhausted, after a sudden influx of customers which we were not permitted to see.
Luned has broken her coffee-making record . . . |
Luned is sure that she has broken her record of how many coffees she can make in an hour. “It’s nice to see the place full again, Kelly smiles, and Anita wonders how much is in the donations box; she lost count of who was paying what.
. . . and Kelly is expecting another rush |
“We can count the millions later, but chop chop – we need to clear this place before all the next crowd comes in.
"I told you, didn't I?" |
“I told you, didn’t I?” Kelly remarks to Anita.
"Those new dishes are lovely" |
Up in the Deri flat, Dani is looking at paperwork when Britt comes in, saying how lovely the new dishes are.
Dani needs the credit card |
Dani urgently needs the credit card; “Mathew wants money for the work and I have bills to pay – and now I’ve made a mistake!” she says, “I bought this grooming course for Aled, as a surprise – more work than the social media thing. Anyway, I got an e-mail earlier, asking for the next instalment.
"I didn't realise there were four payments" |
“I didn’t realise there were four payments.”
Britt is rather shocked when she learns that the total amount is £6,000;
"That much to cut dog hair?" |
“That much to learn how to cut dog hair?” she squeals, but Dani points out that it is a good course,
"It's not like a blow dry, Britt" |
and it is not like doing a blow dry.
“I can’t open a grooming salon without a groomer!” she insists,
"Garry has had the card back!" |
but then Britt reveals that she no longer has the card. Garry has taken her off the accounts of all the cards,
"I'm sure we can find a way" |
but Britt is confident that they will find a way, suggesting there may be grants available, or even a bank loan.
“But for now, I don’t think it will be possible to pay for this course,” she concludes,
Dani is worried |
and Dani looks very concerned.
"No, I haven't seen Eifion" |
Mathew comes back to the flat, searching for Eifion, and Izzy lies that she has not seen him; “And Jason’s disappeared as well,” Mathew groans, “I’ve got enough to do without having to look for those two.”
"They're bound to be back tomorrow" |
Izzy recommends that he should finish early tonight, and they are bound to be back tomorrow.
"I have to finish the salon floors" |
“I can’t – I have to finish the salon floors – this is my fault. I’ve taken on so much, but I can’t even control my workers –
"Perhaps buying APD was a mistake" |
“perhaps buying APD was a mistake!”
"Eifion was saying horrible things" |
She argues that he cannot blame himself, but then has to confess that she knows why Eifion is not around; “He was saying horrible things – and I can say whatever I want to whoever I want!” she rages.
"I just asked you to do one thing, Izzy!" |
“Yes, but it doesn’t mean I have to be happy about it!” Mathew snarls, “I asked you to do one thing!
"I'll probably be late tonight!" |
“I have to go – I’ll probably be late tonight!”
The food has run out |
Kelly sinks into a chair, sighing, “We’ve never had to close the café before because we’ve run out of food! Bonus – here we come!”
Kelly opens the donations box . . . |
The moment of truth arrives, and Kelly tips out of the box a number of coins,
. . . and finds very little inside |
mostly copper, and is extremely disappointed. She comments that it is early days,
Luned feels terrible |
and Luned feels terrible for giving her the idea.
"I told you this would happen!" |
On the other hand, Anita insists that this is what she was warning Kelly about; “I knew this was bound to happen – I only stayed because you begged me to! I’m not going to see my bonus now, am I? I knew this was a stupid idea, and that it was going to fail!”
"We don't even sell this brand of drink, like" |
Kelly picks a bottle top out of the coins, commenting, “We don’t even sell this brand of drink, like!”
Dani has drawn a blank with the bank |
Dani walks disconsolately into the bar, having had no luck with the bank;
"I'm going out the front to tidy up those planters" |
Britt has an idea to solve the problem. “As it’s so quiet, I’m going out the front to tidy up those planters.
"Anyone could help themselves from the till" |
Anyone could help themselves from the till while I’m out there.”
“And what will you-know-who do when he finds out?” asks Dani, but Britt maintains the worst he can do is to sack her.
Dani hesitantly approaches the till . . . |
Dani looks carefully around, but no-one is there; she cautiously approaches the till, then begins to help herself to the notes therein, which appear to be a considerable amount, bearing in mind the few customers who have been there lately.
. . . bot someone is watching |
What she does not know is that Dylan has just returned from the Gent’s and is watching her
The cash goes into her pocket |
as she pockets the cash. She closes the till, and he makes himself scarce again.
She looks apprehensive |
Dani is looking very apprehensive,
But Dylan can take advantage of the situation |
but Dylan, on the contrary, is smiling.
