"I see you took Sioned's advice"

Eileen seems to have recovered her composure and rushes out of the shop when she sees Dani walking past;  “I see you took Sioned’s advice after all about reopening the salon,” she says, “It’s a dog salon, but people can get their hair done as well.”

"I'm glad you're interested"

Dani appreciates Eileen’s interest, and she replies, “It’s hard not to know about it – Aled is plastering it all over Facebook.”

"Aled is full of ideas"

“Yes, it was Aled’s idea – he’s full of ideas,” says Dani, and when Eileen has returned to the shop,

"How are you, Dani?"

Mark emerges from the alley, asking how Dani is.   “I’m still having morning sickness, but I’m all right,” she tells him,

"No-one's caught me being sick – apart from you!"

“No-one’s caught me being sick – apart from you!   Until I start showing, it won’t be hard to keep it quiet.”

"Have you told the father yet?"

Mark asks if she has told the father, and she is quite adamant that she has no intention of doing so.

"I'm not going to, Mark!"

He insists that she has to at some point, but she makes it quite clear that she will not.

Non hears a knock at the door . . .

At Maes-y-Deri, Non is cleaning in the kitchen when there is a knock at the door;

. . . and Len walks in

a stranger walks in and says, “Hello, Bethan.”

She was not expecting him to turn up

It is Len, and she does not look at all pleased to see him.   “You weren’t expecting to see me, were you?” he asks,

He asks for a cup of tea

“A cup of tea would be nice, if you’re not too busy.”

Colin studies his tablets

Colin is relaxing in the chip shop flat, and Eileen advises him that she has bought few things to lower high blood pressure;  “Sioned and I will look after the shop, so you don’t need to worry.”

"Thanks for taking Colin to the doctor"

Britt comes up the stairs and is surprised to see Eileen there;  “Thanks for taking Colin to the doctor for me – you should have come to get me.   I could have closed the chippy.”

"I'm glad it wasn't more serious"

Eileen is just glad that it was not more serious, but warns Colin that high blood pressure is not something to be taken lightly.

"I'll keep taking the tablets, guaranteed!"

“Yes, I’ll keep taking the tablets from now on, guaranteed,” he promises, and Eileen assures him that if he wants anything, he knows where she is.

"We shall be OK now, Eileen"

Britt is sure that they will be OK now, and Colin describes her as a fantastic nurse.   Eileen leaves the flat.

"I could easily have gone to work today"

Colin does not know why she is fussing so much;  he maintains that he could easily have gone to work today.   Britt can see that Eileen thinks a lot of him.

Dani pretends that she is angry

Dani goes to number 10, and when Aled opens the door, demands, “Who said it was OK for you to advertise ‘Chi a’r Ci’ all over the Internet?”

"I was only trying to help"

He answers that he was trying to help, but accepts that he perhaps should have checked with her first.

"Everything you're doing is great!"

Then she reveals that she was only joking;  “I think everything you’re doing is great!” she says.

He has loads of ideas for campaigns, if it is all right with Dani,

"Will you do all the social media for me?"

and she proposes, “What if you did all the social media for me?   I’ll pay you, but I won’t be able to afford very much.”

"I need a photo of you, Dani"

He is anxious to get a photograph of her for this publicity,

She adopts her best pose

and instructs her to smile.

Non is apprehensive

Non appears very nervous as she sits on the sofa with her cup of tea;

"I hope it wasn't a big shock"

“I hope it wasn’t a big shock,” says Len, and she forces herself to reply that it is nice to see him.

"How did you find me?"

She wonders how he found her and she tells her that the lady in the shop told him where Mark lived.

He explains his visit

“I wouldn’t have come unless it was important – the thing is, I went into the house to check the post, and I noticed that the roof is leaking.   I’ve organised for someone to fix it, but I wanted to check that you’re OK with that.”

She agrees that it is all right, and he would like a biscuit;

"You didn't have to come here specially"

“You didn’t have to come here specially,” she points out, but he says that he tried to phone several times.

She checks her phone

When she goes to the kitchen for the biscuits, she looks at her phone and appears worried.

"Ifan is with the childminder"

Dylan asks Sara where Ifan is, and is told that he is with the childminder;  she does not have to pick him up until later this afternoon.   Dylan has bought him something,

A present for Ifan

a toy triceratops, and although Sara looks very unimpressed,

"Ifan will love it"

she says that Ifan will love it.   He has also brought her some flowers,

"I want to show I can be 'domestic'"

which he will put into a vase to show that he can be ‘domestic’.

Sara still looks particularly unenthusiastic,

"I know it takes more than flowers, OK?"

and after several attempts to place the flowers in the vase without it falling over, tells her, “I know it’s going to take more than flowers, OK?   You have every right to be angry with me because I let you down.

"If Llwyncelyn hadn't been a scam . . ."

“This isn’t an excuse, but if Llwyncelyn hadn’t been a scam, we would have our own home by now.”

Sara is far from persuaded

“Yes – perhaps,” she sighs, and he says that he feels as frustrated as she does

"I just want the three of us to be happy"

because he just wants the three of them to be happy.

"Really?"

She does not seem to believe this;  “Really?” she demands.

"Dad, Eileen said you collapsed"

In the chip shop flat, Izzy comes hurrying in;  “Dad, Eileen said you collapsed or something – are you all right?”

"It was only stress, Izzy"

He explains that it was nothing more than stress,

"These are for a heart attack, Dad"

but she picks up his tablets and deduces that he has had a heart attack.

"If it was a heart attack, I would be in hospital"

He will not accept that, arguing, “If it was a heart attack, I would be in hospital.”   Izzy wants to know why the tablets are for heart failure, and he informs her that they are for high blood pressure.

“The stress caused the turn, but now I have high blood pressure as well – as long as I look after myself and don’t get stressed I’ll be fine.

"How are you?   That's what I want to know"

“How are you?   That’s what I want to know.   You’ve been suspended from work – of course I’m worried.   I can’t help it – I’m your father.”

"The last thing I want is to make you worse"

The last thing Izzy wants is to make him worse,

"Why didn't you come to me?"

and he pleads, “If you needed the money, why didn’t you come to me?   Does Math know about this?”

"Mathew was shocked but is being supportive"

She says that he was shocked but is being supportive, and Colin regards him as a good boy.

"You're having herbal tea"

She offers to make him a drink, and he would like coffee and a biscuit, but she insists that he is having herbal tea,

Colin does not look pleased about that

which he does not seem to relish.

“I’ve kept you long enough,” Len tells Bethan, and she seems very eager to get rid of him, thanking him for telling her, and sorry that he had to come all this way.

"I don't know why my phone is playing up"

She does not know why her phone is playing up,

"Will I see you on Sunday?"

and he asks, “Will I see you on Sunday?”

"I'm not sure at the moment"

She is not sure at the moment, and before he goes, he would like to use the toilet.

There is the sound of the front door opening and Mark comes in;

"Mark, is it?   I'm Len"

“Mark, is it?   I’m Len – I’ve heard a lot about you.”

"I've heard a lot about you, too!"

Mark replies that he has also heard a great deal about Len.   “Nothing bad, I hope,” Len comments,

Len is off to the toilet

“I need the loo.”

"What on earth is he doing here?"

Mark and Bethan look at each other;  “What on earth is he doing here?” Mark demands,

"Someone's blocked him on my phone!"

and she complains that someone blocked him on her phone.   “I didn’t want him to hassle you,” she is told, “Has he been nasty to you?   Are you telling the truth?”

"Don't say anything – I just want him to leave"

Bethan urges him not to say anything, as she just wants him to leave;  “I mean it – just don’t make things worse!”

"I didn't think you would ever wake up!"

Tesni comes downstairs late, and Aled did not think she would ever wake up, but she moans that there is not much point.

"Who was here earlier?"

“Who was here earlier?” she asks, and he tells her about Dani, who has offered him a job, doing the social media for her new business.

"Were you expecting someone else?"

Aled wonders if she was expecting someone else,

"Who would want to see me?"

but she groans, “Who would call to see me?   It’s true – only you take an interest in me – especially not Lisa!”

“Is that why you’re moving to London?” Aled enquires, “It’s a bit drastic.”

"No-one would miss me"

She argues that no-one would miss her,

"Have you tried to talk to Lisa?"

and Aled would like to know if she has tried to talk to Lisa.   He is informed that she does not want to know.

"I've got to go to a meeting with Dani"

Aled closes the laptop and is about to leave the house, alleging that he has a meeting with Dani, and will not be long.

"I'll let you know what Dave is charging"

At Maes-y-Deri, Len says he will let Bethan know what Dave is charging before agreeing to it;  “He does all the work on the chapel – he’s a good guy.   I would do it myself, but I can’t do as much as I used to – it takes a younger man.

"It's my knees, but I keep going"

“It’s my knees, but I keep going.   You’ll never find a better place than the Beacons – perhaps the three of us could go for a walk one Sunday.”

"Mark's a postman and does a lot of walking"

“Why would I do that?” Mark demands, and Bethan explains that Mark is a postman and does a lot of walking.

"You can't fool me – I know everything!"

“Sorry, I can’t pretend any more – you can’t fool me, good boy, I know everything,” snarls Mark,

"Taking advantage of Bethan!"

“Starting a relationship with a young woman like Bethan, taking advantage and treating her terribly!”

"I would never do that – Bethan, what have you said?"

Len is amazed, and says that he has known Bethan from chapel – ever since she was a young girl;  “I would never do that!   Bethan, what have you said?”

She remains silent

She does not want to say anything, but Mark tells her not to be scared, as he will not let Len do anything to her.

"It's less than a year since I lost my wife"

“Listen, it’s been less than a year since I lost my wife, and Bethan has been very supportive.”   Mark does not believe a word of this, but he continues, “Mair and I were married for 40 years.”   Mark suspects that he abused her as well.   “We never had a cross word, not one – tell him, Bethan.”

"Yes, they were very happy, Mark"

She is forced to agree that they were very happy, but Mark will not accept that he has not messed around with Bethan.   “Have you ever lost someone you love?” Len asks him,

He shows a wedding photo

showing a picture of their wedding day in his wallet, “I can’t look at another woman, and I can’t believe you would suggest it!”

Mark is forced to climb down

Mark confesses that he has misunderstood,

"You need help, Mark"

and Len considers that he needs help.   Mark glowers at Bethan.

There is a knock at the door

There is a knock at the door of number 9 and Lisa answers it;  she wonders what Aled  is doing there.

"Tesni doesn't know I'm here"

Tesni, he begins, “She doesn’t know I’m here –

"She's thinking of moving to London because of you"

“she’s thinking of moving to London because of you.   It’s true – if you’d only talk to her.”

"I've said everything I have to say"

Lisa makes it clear that she has said everything she has to say, and would like Aled to leave.

"You're far too old for her"

“I don’t know what she sees in you, to be honest,” he continues, “You’re far too old for her.”   Then he leaves the house.

"Izzy came to see me earlier"

Colin reports that Izzy came to see him earlier, and Britt hopes that he was not stressed;  “She looked after me, fair play, and she’s not the only one who’s been stressing me out lately.”

Britt knows she has caused stress

Britt agrees that he is right there, and it has not just been lately;  she is surprised that he has not been ill before now.

“The important thing from now on is to get better,” he declares,

"It's all right, because it's dark chocolate"

and she shows him what nurse Britt has got for him, insisting that it is all right because it is dark chocolate.

"Unless you'd prefer a bowl of porridge?"

He is very pleased to see it and she points out, “Eileen is not the only one who knows about these things – unless you’d prefer it if I made you a bowl of porridge?”

"Chocolate is perfect – just like you!"

He says that chocolate is perfect, just like her.

Len is not happy at leaving Bethan with Mark

Len is reluctant to leave Bethan with Mark, who apologises again, and hopes he has a safe journey.   “He doesn’t seem very stable,” comments Len,

"Mark's on tablets – it's a long story"

but Bethan informs him that Mark is on tablets, and that it is a long story.   He urges her to keep in touch and leaves the house.

"Well, I had to say something"

“Tablets?” Mark demands, and Bethan replies that she had to say something.

"How about the truth – if you know what that is?"

“How about the truth – if you still know what that is?” suggests Mark.

"It would have broken his heart"

She explains that he would have broken his heart, and Mark can well believe it;

"What about me?   How do you think I feel?"

“But what about me?   How do you think I feel?   How could you make me worry like that?”

Once again she is sorry

She mutters that she is sorry, but he goes on, “I thought you were being abused –

"What is wrong with you?"

“what’s wrong with you?”   She answers that is the point,

"Something inside forces me to lie!"

alleging that she cannot stop lying, and it is as if something inside forces her to do it.

"Some women are really being abused!"

“There are women out there who are being abused – and you lie about it!   How could you?”   She begs him not to be angry, and he shouts, “You’re always sorry – I want you to leave!

"Get your stuff and go back to Brecon!"

I mean it – get your stuff and go back to Brecon!”

Bethan goes upstairs

She goes up the stairs.

"Aled's idea of good publicity"

Dani shows Tyler the photo on her phone, which appears to have been slightly edited, describing it as, “Aled’s idea of good publicity.”

Sara is taking champagne to her table, and demands, “Don’t you think I deserve it?”

"Are you poaching my staff, Dani?"

Dylan accuses Dani of poaching his staff;  “Aled’s the marketing manager of ‘Chi a’r Ci’ according to Facebook.”   Dani replies that he is only part-time,

"We don't want to fall out over him, do we?"

and Dylan maintains, “We don’t want to fall out over him, do we?”

"As if he cares about Aled"

Tyler remarks, “As if he cares about Aled working for him,” and then adds, “Forget it – I can’t tell anyone.”

"Dylan's his father!"

This naturally makes Dani even more interested, and Tyler quickly reveals to her in a whisper, “Dylan’s his father – I wouldn’t wish that on anyone!”

Dani is horrified

Dani looks very shocked.

Tesni is still in her dressing gown

Tesni is looking miserable, as usual, when Aled comes in and she turns on him;

"Why did you go and see Lisa?"

“Why did you go and see Lisa?” she demands, “Don’t deny it – she texted me to ask why I sent you over.”   He replies that he told Lisa that Tesni did not know about it, and was only trying to help.

"I hate seeing you so unhappy"

“I hate seeing you so unhappy – it’s obvious, or you wouldn’t be moving to London!” he exclaims,

"I might not be able to go"

but now she says she might not be going there.   Good – I don’t want you to go!” he tells her.

“It’s not good – perhaps I won’t be able to,” she wails, and he wonders who is going to stop her.

"The colitis – it's started to get worse again!"

“Not who – the colitis!” she admits, “It’s started to get worse again – I’m worried that I’ll have to go to hospital,

"I might have an operation"

“and I might have an operation!”

Mark is trying to get his head around this

Mark does not know what to think as Bethan comes back into the room, carrying her case.

"I was really hoping you'd learned your lesson"

“You know, I was really hoping you’d learned your lesson after last time,” he groans.

"All I wanted to do is be part of this family"

“I’d do it again,” she declares, “Because all I wanted was to be part of this family again – is that so difficult to understand?”

"You will never be part of this family!"

He emphasises that she will never be part of the Jones family.

Bethan makes her exit

She picks up her case and walks out of the door.
