"Oh, since Garry has been back"

Mark puts down his postbag and asks how far gone she is;  Dani replies, “A couple of weeks,” which he assumes is since Garry has been back.   

"Garry's not the father – or Mathew!"

She makes it quite clear, “Garry’s not the father – and it isn’t Mathew either, before you ask.”   He demands who it is, 

"Just a one-night stand"

and she dismisses it as just a one-night stand.   

"He's the father and he has a right to know"

“Well, one-night stand or not, he’s the father and he has a right to know,” Mark insists, 

"No, Mark!"

but Danny disagrees with this.   

"Debbie didn't tell me about Ricky"

“Debbie didn't tell me until Ricky was older, and I missed out, Dani,” he emphasises, but she is adamant that this is different.

"There was something strong between you"

“There was something strong between you – this is not the same,” she exclaims, and he comments that there are options;  

"I'm not getting rid of it – no way!"

“I’m not getting rid of it!” she snaps, “I can’t – not after losing a baby – no way!”   He urges her to take her time and think about it, but she is quite clear that she has made up her mind – she is keeping the baby.

Ffion and Guto are going running

Ffion and Guto are embarking on a run together, 

Lisa comes out of number 9 . . .

and pass number 9 as Lisa is coming out;  

. . . and Tesni wants to talk to her

she meets Tesni by the shop, who remarks, “Do you think we can talk?”   Lisa rather abruptly replies that depends on what she has to say.

"I didn't explain myself properly"

“I know you only want to discuss work with me, but I don’t think I explained myself properly the other day,” Tesni goes on, “How I feel about you.”   

"There's nothing else to discuss!"

Lisa assures her that there is nothing else to discuss;  she has said everything she has to say, 

Tesni is downhearted

and walks away along the street.

"If this comes out, well . . ."

Dani begs Mark not to say anything;  “If this comes out, well . . .”   He wants to know if it is anyone local, but she is not going to give him any more details, so he should stop asking, 

"I won't say a word, Dani"

and he promises that he will not reveal a word to anyone.

"It's typical of me, isn't it?"

“It’s typical of me, isn’t it?   You’d think I would have learned my lesson after last time,” she groans.   

"I got your text, Dani"

Then Mathew comes hurrying in, telling her that he got her text, and Mark leaves to continue his round.

“I’ve changed my mind about the salon,” Dani announces, “I still want you to do the work, but the plans have changed a bit – 

"Dogs at the back – people at the front!"

“so the doggy grooming business will be at the back – and there’s going to be a salon for people in the front.”

"That means starting again with the plans"

Mathew explains that will mean starting again with the plans, and she wonders if that will be a problem.   “No, not at all,” he replies, rather unconvincingly;  Dani is pleased and thanks him.

Tesni is feeling sorry for herself

Luned discovers Tesni sitting rather disconsolately on the bench by the salon, and informs her that she is moving to Cardiff.   “I can’t wait!” she says, 

"I thought that you and Kelly had sorted things out"

and Tesni thought that she and Kelly had sorted things out.   

"I shall go once I find somewhere to live"

“Yes, I’m back working there, but not for long, I hope.   I shall go once I find somewhere to live.”

"You don't start uni for ages"

Tesni points out that she does not start university for ages, but Luned wants to get settled first;  “Get to know the place, find a job – but I’ll come back often.”   Tesni anticipates that she will be too busy with Rhys to see her friends.   “We’ll catch up soon – I haven’t seen you properly for ages,” Luned says as she leaves.

Lisa and Tesni look at each other

At this point Lisa happens to pass;  she and Tesni look at each other, but nothing is said.   Tesni appears rather upset.

Garry comes out of number 7 . . .

Garry comes out of the door of number 7 

. . . and Jaclyn out of the shop

just as Jaclyn is leaving the shop;  

"Look, Jac, I don't like . . ."

he advises her that he has moved in there, and thought that she would like to know.   “Look, Jac, I don’t like . . .” 

"Excuse me, I have to go!"

but he gets no further as she makes a hasty retreat.

Non speaks to Izzy at the Antur . . .

Non is on the phone, and asks for any materials to be sent to her;  “Yes, I’ve had the contract – I’ll send it back to you later.   Thank you, Izzy.”   

. . . and looks very pleased with herself

She is about to return to her cooking, when Mark comes in the front door.

There is an appetising smell of food

“You’ve gone to a lot of effort – it smells very nice,” he says, 

"I've got a job as a Spanish tutor

and she fancied making something special because she has got a job as a Spanish tutor with Yr Antur.   

"Are you planning on staying?"

“Are you planning on staying here?” Mark enquires, and she apologises for not asking him first, but it was too good an opportunity to miss.

He not very enthusiastically agrees that she can stay, as it will be a good excuse not to go back to Brecon for a while.   She should stay away from that Len, but Non comments that he will not be happy.   

"This could be your chance to finish with him"

“This could be your chance to finish with him,” he adds, but she considers it is too early for that.

“If you do it now, he will have calmed down by the time you move back to Brecon – just think about it, OK?”   

"Non is looking rather worried

Non is looking worried

The run has taken its toll on Guto 

Ffion and Guto return from their exercise, and she laughs, “Look at you, for a young man!”   

"I've been doing a lot of running"

He protests he has been doing a lot of running, 

"And smoking!"

but she adds, “And smoking!”   

Kelly is on the lookout for customers

Kelly happens to come out of the café as they pass, as Guto declares that he does not want another lecture.

"Do you fancy lunch in the Deri – I'm paying?"

“Do you fancy lunch in the Deri,” Ffion asks him, “I’m paying,” and this persuades him, 

Off he goes to have a shower

but he will need a shower first.

"You and Guto are big mates these days"

Kelly comes across the road;  “You and Guto are big mates these days,” she remarks, 

"I wouldn't say that"

but Ffion would not agree with that.   “Because I saw him going into your flat the other day as well.”

Ffion explains that he is a little bit lost and she is trying to offer him some direction;  

"Be careful on case he gets the wrong end of the stick"

Kelly cautions, “I know you’re well-meaning, Ffion, but be careful in case he gets the wrong end of the stick.”   Ffion replies that there is no danger of that, but is told, “He’s impressionable, sensitive – things could go pear shaped.”   

“I know what I’m doing!” Ffion assures her, 

"You know how people talk"

and Kelly is glad, reminding her of how people talk – any excuse for a gossip.   

Ffion does not appreciate Kelly's insinuation

Ffion looks rather offended.

"Tesni, are you OK?"

Jaclyn calls upstairs to Tesni, initially with no response;  “Are you OK?” she demands.  She comes downstairs and asks what her mother wants;  “I was just checking that you’re all right,” says Jaclyn, 

She says that she is

and Tesni replies that she is, without much conviction.

"Is it the new boy on your radar?"

“Things didn’t work out the way you had hoped? she asks, “The new boy on your radar – you told me about him,”   

"I don't know what I'm doing with my life any more"

Tesni does not want to talk about it;  “In any case it is not just that – I don’t know – I’m not sure what I’m doing with my life any more,” she wails, 

"It's difficult, trying to find your way"

and her mother agrees that it is difficult, trying to find her way.   

"Luned knows what she's doing"

“Luned knows what she wants – she’s moving to Cardiff.”   

Jaclyn says that she does not have to move away to work out what she wants to do;  

"And you want to move to Cardiff as well?"

“Don’t tell me – you want to move to Cardiff as well?” 

"No – to London!"

but Tesni has decided she wants to go to London.

"Why London?"

“Why London?” shouts her mother, and Tesni maintains that anywhere is better than staying in this hole.   

"Do you know anything about Tes moving to London?"

Guto comes in, and is asked if he knows anything about Tes moving to London;  he does not and goes upstairs for his shower.

“What are you going to do there?” Jaclyn demands, 

"I'll find something, Mam"

and Tesni says that she will find something.   

Gerwyn notices the silent atmosphere

Then Gerwyn comes in through the back door and wonders why they are so quiet.   

"Are you going to tell your father?"

“Are you going to tell your father, or shall I?” Jaclyn demands.

"I'm moving to London"

“I’m moving to London,” Tesni tells him, 

"I thought you had . . ."

and he is actually relieved, as he had thought that she . . .   

"Had been with dirty old men again?"

Tesni continues his sentence, “Had been with dirty old men again?”   Her mother says that he can hardly be blamed for thinking like that.

"I want some excitement!"

“I want to move to London because I want some excitement!” she exclaims, “What’s so difficult to understand?” and she storms off upstairs.   Her parents look at each other.

Non makes a phone call

Non tastes the food, then, as Mark is out of the way at the moment, picks up her phone and calls Len.   

"Hiya, Len, sorry I missed your call"

“Hiya, Len, sorry I missed your call.   I’m fine, thanks – to be honest, I’ve got some good news.   

"I've been offered a job in Cwmderi"

“I’ve been offered a job teaching Spanish to adults in Cwmderi, so I won’t be back for a while.   Would you mind checking the post and things while I’m away?”

Then she puts on a show for Mark

When she ends the call, she hears Mark coming downstairs, and says, into the phone, “Please don’t shout – there’s no point discussing it – I don’t want to see you any more!   Sorry, Len, but I’ve made my decision!”

"Took it badly, did he?"

Mark assumes that he took it badly, but it was only what Non had expected.   

"He'll get over it"

He predicts that Len will get over it;  “He doesn’t have a lot of choice now – 

"You won't change your mind"

“you won’t change your mind, no matter what he says.   Don’t worry – everything will be fine, you’ll see.   Is the food ready, or what?   I’m starving.”   

"Just be patient, Mark"

She tells him to be patient.

Dani is startled by Iolo

Dani is hanging washing on the dryer when Iolo comes in and startles her;  he asks if she got the estimate, 

"What do you think of 'Chi a'r Ci'?"

but she has not seen it and looks for it on her phone, meanwhile telling him about the new name, ‘Chi a’r Ci’.   “I think it’s really catchy, anyway,” she says.

"Full steam ahead now, Iolo!"

She is very pleased with the estimate and thanks him for sending it so quickly;  “Full steam ahead, now, Iolo!” she exclaims, 

"You're enjoying this, aren't you?"

and he can see that she is enjoying this.   He remarks that Dani is looking happier than he has seen her for some time.

“How’s the new landlord behaving?” she asks, and Iolo growls that he is leaving his mess all over the place.   

"He's not the easiest person to deal with"

“He’s not the easiest person to live with,” she agrees.

"Surfing instead of working, is it?"

In the café, Rhys accuses Mathew of surfing instead of working;  “Do you fancy a pint?   I’m meeting Luned, and you could bring Izzy over with you.”   

"Izzy's keeping a low profile"

Unfortunately Mathew is very busy, and he says that Izzy is keeping a low profile, as she does not want to see Gaynor.

"Communication skills a bit lacking!"

Kelly asks Rhys if he has seen Luned;  “I asked her to do a shift tomorrow – it would be nice if she answered.   Communication skills a bit lacking!   I’m going to miss her – not as much as you, obviously.”

"She's moving to Cardiff"

Then Rhys explains to Mathew that she is moving to Cardiff, 

"That's a bit sudden"

which Mathew regards as rather sudden.   “She wants to settle in before starting uni,” says Rhys, “There isn’t much for her here.”

“Apart from you,” Mathew reminds him, and Rhys sometimes thinks there is not much for him in Cwmderi either, so Mathew suggests he should go with her, but there is the business to consider, for one thing.   

"No demand for personal trainers in Cardiff?"

“Are you telling me there’s no demand for personal trainers in Cardiff?” Mathew demands.

"Do you think she's serious?

At the door of number 10, Jaclyn wonders if her daughter is serious, but Gerwyn is sure that she will change her mind again.   “She sounded pretty determined – I just don’t want her to go!” Jaclyn says, 

"We should be supportive"

but he maintains that they should be supportive if that is what she wants.

“She doesn’t know what she wants – she hasn’t even got a job to go to!” her mother rages, “The only work experience she’s done is . . . well, you know!   And she won’t know anyone.”

Garry appears

Garry walks past;  he and Jaclyn look at each other.   

"I though you had something to tell me"

He maintains that he thought she had something to tell him, 

"Well, you were mistaken!"

but Gerwyn answers that he is wrong.   

"Why did he have to turn up just then?"

“Why did he have to turn up just then?” Jaclyn demands, “He’s moved in across the road!”

Gerwyn points out that they have more important things to think about;  

"Try not to worry too much about Tes"

“Try not to worry too much about Tes – she hasn’t decided yet.”

"How do you manage to look so fresh?"

In the Deri, Guto does not know how Ffion is looking so fresh, and she explains that she is used to training.   He hesitantly asks her a question;  “How do you cope with being in a pub?   You know, with all the booze around?”

"And me being an alcoholic"

“And me being an alcoholic – don’t be afraid to say it, because that’s what I am,” Ffion replies, “The reason I’m OK – and have been OK for a while now, is that I like proving to myself that I'm strong enough to resist.”

"I suppose you get a buzz out of it"

Guto assumes that she gets a buzz out of that, 

"Have you managed not to smoke?"

and she enquires if he has managed not to smoke.   He says that he has, 

"If you want to talk, just pick up the phone"

and she reassures him that if he wants to talk, he should just pick up the phone.

"Perhaps she's after another toyboy!"

Luned remarks with obvious distaste, “What’s Guto doing with Ffion?   Perhaps she’s after another toyboy!”   

That does not go done well with Rhys

Rhys does not appreciate that comment, and she says that someone must have stolen his sense of humour.

"There's something I want to ask you"

“Look, there’s something I want to ask you,” he begins, 

"That sounds ominous"

“Don’t worry, it’s a good thing – how would you feel if I came to Cardiff with you?   It would be a laugh, looking for somewhere to live together, getting to know the place – I want to be with you.”

She seems in favour of his suggestion

She was not expecting that, but he emphasises that he is not expecting an answer now, and would like her to think about it;  she smiles broadly.

Iolo is still cleaning

At number 7, Iolo, complete with his facemask, is again cleaning in the kitchen, when he again hears a noise and finds Garry searching for something.   “Where’s my tablet?’ he demands, “It was here earlier.”

"It's in the bathroom"

Iolo enlightens him that it is in the bathroom;  “I don’t know why it’s there – it’s your mess!” he complains.   

"I'll be as messy as I like!

Garry once again reminds him it is his house, and he will be as messy as he likes;  “And take that mask off – I feel diseased!”

"Stop having a go at me!"

“I know you’re the landlord,” replies Iolo, “But you can’t take things out on me – I don’t know who upset you, but it wasn’t me, so stop having a go at me!”

"Yes, it passed, no problem, Mrs Williams"

Outside the garage, Gerwyn is on the phone to a customer, advising that their car is ready for collection;  “It passed, no problem – see you later.”   

Then he sees Garry approaching round the corner, by the new fire escape, who tells him he is there on business.

'We could do with a new tracking machine"

Gerwyn considers that they should buy a new tracking machine;  “Ours is old, and everyone having an MOT wants to check the tyres.”   

"It would be a good investment, but . . .

Garry will not entertain the proposal, although he agrees it would be a good investment.

". . . I'm closing the place"

“But there’s no point.   I’m closing the place,” he informs Gerwyn, “I know it’s disappointing.”   

"Business is as good as ever – better perhaps"

Gerwyn protests that business is as good as ever – better perhaps, and he is described as an excellent mechanic, 

"I've made my decision"

but Garry has made his decision.

Gerwyn offers to buy the place;  “With what?” Garry scoffs, and he proposes to get a bank loan.   

"You've got no chance – it's not for sale, anyway!"

“You’ve got no chance – you don’t even have a mortgage – it’s not for sale, anyway,” Garry sneers at him.

“Hang on – if you’re not selling the place . . .” Gerwyn begins, but is told that Garry is diversifying;  however he has not decided what to do yet.   He informs Gerwyn that he has a months notice.

He tells Gerwyn to look for another job

“I’m sure you’ll find something – a talented guy like you – remember, I’m your boss.   Now, instead of wasting time and feeling sorry for yourself, perhaps you should start looking for another job.”   

Garry appears to enjoy upsetting people

Garry turns and walks away from the garage, looking very pleased with himself.
