"Has Dylan given Dani any money?" |
Tyler comes downstairs in the Deri and Garry, behind the bar, immediately asks him, “Have you found out if Dylan has given Dani money yet?”
"The answer is no, Garry" |
Tyler replies that the answer is no, but Garry is not sure that he believes him. As Aled comes in, Tyler points out, “Look, I’ve done everything you asked, right?”
Aled is being fobbed off again |
Then he turns his attention to Aled, explaining, “Mam has broken her wrist – she wants me to go over there for a few days.
"She hasn't got anyone else" |
“She hasn’t got anyone else.” Aled proposes going with him, but Tyler maintains he does not want Aled to suffer her poison as well.
"You don't want me around" |
“You don’t want me around,” concludes Aled, and when Dani comes in,
"Dani, tell him he can't go on his own" |
implores her, “Tell Tyler that he can’t go and see Wendy on his own.” She wonders why on earth he would want to see Wendy, and Tyler repeats the story of the broken wrist; Dani has not spoken to her for ages, and remarks that she stays away, advising him to do the same.
"I'm going to pack now" |
Aled wants to know when he is going, and Tyler is about to go and pack now;
"I'm going to miss you" |
“I’ll miss you,” says Aled, and walks out,
He looks awkwardly at Garry |
looking awkwardly at Garry.
"Come over to the house when you get a chance" |
Then Jaclyn comes in, making sure no-one is within earshot, and tells Garry to come over to the house when he gets a chance, as she wants to talk.
He thinks this sounds promising . . . |
He is under the impression that his luck has changed,
. . . and turns on the music |
turns on the music in the pub and smiles broadly.
Gaynor makes a startling discovery |
Gaynor is looking at her laptop when she discovers something which she finds exciting; “Thank goodness!” she gasps,
"All the money is back in my bank account!" |
and immediately phones Hywel. “All the money is back in my bank account! At last!
"We'll celebrate tonight!" |
“We’ll celebrate tonight!”
However, when she turns round she receives a shock; Angharad is standing there.
"How did you get in?" |
“How did you get in?” she demands, and is told that the door was open.
"I'm so grateful I can stay!" |
“Gaynor, I’m so grateful that I can stay!” she announces, much to Gaynor’s dismay.
Garry has been looking forward to this |
Jaclyn waits anxiously at number 10 and very soon the back door opens;
"Thanks for coming, Garry" |
she thanks him Garry coming, and he, too, is very pleased to be there,
"It's nice to be alone, isn't it?" |
commenting, “It’s nice to be alone, isn’t it?”
"The garage – have you reconsidered?" |
She shatters his illusion; “The garage – have you reconsidered?”
"Have you reconsidered our situation?" |
He is much more interested if she has reconsidered their situation.
"Ger's worried sick – he's heartbroken!" |
“It’s not fair on Ger – he’s worried sick – he’s heartbroken – he came back drunk the other night,”she goes on.
"He's turning into his mother!" |
Garry scoffs, “He’s turning into his mother!” but she insists that it is not fair on the kids to see their father that like that. “It’s not my fault he can’t handle his booze!” Garry laughs, but she emphasises it is his fault Gerwyn is unemployed.
“Business is business – work comes and goes,” says Garry, “But what was between us . . .”
"It's over, Garry" |
She dismisses this as a dream, which is now over. “Have you forgotten how happy you were?” he asks, “If you weren’t so stubborn and if you’d be honest with yourself, you’d admit that you made a mistake going back to Gerwyn.”
Garry will give her no answer |
As he turns to leave, she asks once again if he will reconsider about the garage, but he simply smiles.
Tyler has packed his bag |
Tyler has packed his bag and Dani demands where he is really going; he continues with his story,
"You can't fool me – what's going on?" |
but she has seen through it. “OK, you can lie to Aled, but you can’t fool me, so what’s going on?”
"I need a break from Aled" |
“I need a break from Aled, Dan,” he tells her, “Only for a while.”
"You must tell him!" |
She instructs him that if he wants to finish with Aled he must tell him.
"He always wants more" |
“I still like him, but he always wants more,” Tyler says, and Dani reminds him that he has had a hard time with Dylan and everything.
Tyler simply wants things to stay the same,
"Tell him, instead of running away!" |
so she instructs him, “Tell him, instead of running away!” He explains that he needs some time and begs her not to say anything.
"Your cover story's rubbish, by the way" |
She remarks, “Your cover story’s rubbish, by the way – if Mam actually broke her wrist, neither you or I would drop everything to help that witch! So, where are you going?” He replies vaguely that he will not be far away.
Kelly visits Y Felin |
A visitor arrives at Y Felin, in the form of Kelly; Anita enquires how things are going in the café,
"Things are pretty good" |
and is told that it is pretty good, but Kelly needs some advice.
"If they are, I don't see how I can help" |
“If things are going that well, I don’t know how I can help,” Anita replies, and goes to make lunch.
Siôn says he is pleased to hear that it is a success, but now Kelly reveals the truth;
"Siôn, I'm losing loads of money!" |
“Siôn, I’m losing loads of money! This scheme is a disaster, OK? But I can’t let her know that, can I? Help me, please!
"What am I going to do?" |
“What am I going to do?”
Things are still pretty quiet in the Deri |
Dylan comes into the deserted Deri, and asks Garry for a whisky; “We don’t have any,” is the reply, and Dylan offers to help him to find some.
"We don't have any whisky for you!" |
“We don’t have any for you!” Garry tells him.
"Very mature, Garry" |
“Very mature – I don’t know how you can turn customers away with the garage closed,” Dylan sneers,
"I don't interfere in your financial affairs" |
but it is pointed out that Garry does not interfere in his financial affairs. “There we are, that’s what happens when you let your ego run your business!” Dylan goes on, “If you don’t want the garage, then sell it. I’m always looking for new opportunities – or are there too many memories holding you back?”
"Get out, Dylan! |
He ignores Garry’s snarled order to get out, adding, “I didn’t know you were sentimental –
"Gerwyn - the biggest wet wipe in the valley!" |
“you can’t accept it that your mistress chose to go back to the biggest wet wipe in the valley!”
"You don't need any whisky!" |
Garry replies, “You don’t need any whisky – you’re talking enough nonsense already!” and again orders him out of the pub. Dylan laughs and then saunters out of the door.
"You invited her, apparently!" |
Gaynor is obviously not very happy with Hywel; “And you invited her, apparently!” He maintains that he simply told her to drop in if she was passing,
"She's upstairs now, having a shower!" |
but is informed, “She’s upstairs now, having a shower!”
"She lost her daughter, Gaynor" |
He insists that she needed some company, especially now, as she lost her daughter in a car accident about two months ago.
This comes as news to Gaynor |
This changes Gaynor’s attitude, and she admits that it is awful, but demands why he did not say anything.
"What a lovely shower!" |
Angharad comes in, effusively praising the lovely shower, and Gaynor wonders why she did not say anything about her daughter; “You let me go on and on about money and furniture,”
"It was so nice to see you, Gaynor!" |
but Angharad replies that it was so nice to see her, and she did not want to spoil things.
"I'm so sorry about your daughter" |
Gaynor is really sorry, and Angharad wants to know why Hywel did not tell her what had happened to Gaynor. She is told that it is nothing compared to what she has suffered.
"Someone has done this to you deliberately!" |
“What happened to Delyth was an accident, but someone has done this to you deliberately – it’s personal!” Angharad rages, “And in the middle of all this, you welcome me here to stay.”
"I'm sure Colin has a camp bed" |
Gaynor is sure that Colin has a camp bed, and will phone him to see if they can borrow it.
"I'll go and fetch it, Gaynor" |
Angharad volunteers to fetch it, as soon as she has got dressed, and she will cook some food for lunch.
There is something interesting on Gaynor's phone |
Gaynor has already picked up her phone and finds an interesting message;
"Somebody has been using my passport" |
“An e-mail from the police – Interpol have found evidence that somebody has been travelling using my passport!”
Garry collects more of his stuff |
Dani is looking rather discouraged in front of the laptop when Garry comes in to collect some more of his belongings; there are a couple of things in the kitchen.
"I know how costs can mount up" |
“Are things going OK with the salon?” he enquires, “I know how costs can mount up with something like this – if you need money, talk to me.”
Dani finds this rather odd |
She finds this rather strange; and he tells her, “I can understand that you might not want to,
"It's better to keep things in the family" |
“but it’s better to keep things in the family – or rather, between you and me. We don’t want someone we don’t know interfering in the business.”
Dani wonders why he is so chirpy today,
"It's better than being at each other's throats" |
and he considers that it is better than being at each other’s throats all the time.
Dani ponders what he said |
This causes Dani to think.
"It's better than sleeping on the floor, guaranteed!" |
Colin tells Angharad, “I can’t promise that it’s very comfortable, but it’s better than the floor, guarantee!” She says that it is good enough for her,
"It's the least I can do" |
and he maintains it is the least he can do after what happened.
"I'm lucky to have such good friends" |
She continues that she is so lucky to have such good friends as him and Gaynor; she will fetch the car, but he notices that she has left her phone behind, with a photograph of Australia on it.
"Australia – I'd love to go there!" |
“Australia!” he sighs, picking it up, “Goodness, I’d love to go there!” She says she has been meaning to change that photo, but he asks when she went there, and is told that it was just before lockdown last year.
"You have to take these opportunities" |
“You have to take these opportunities when you get them – we’re only on this planet once,” she tells him
She is anxious to get the phone back |
and is very eager to retrieve the phone.
"I think you've been a bit ambitious, Kelly" |
Siôn advises Kelly that offering the whole menu for a lower price may be a little ambitious,
"You're on to something, there, Siôn" |
and Kelly agrees that he might be on to something. As Anita is still looking aggrieved, he suggests, “One item might be enough,” and Kelly regards that as a good compromise. “Well, all we have to do now is to decide.”
Anita is still her usual abrasive self |
“You’re not carrying on with this nonsense, are you?” Anita moans, and Kelly rather forcibly informs her that it is not nonsense, because people . . .
"The café's chocka – I have to go!" |
She is stopped in her tracks by a message appearing on the laptop; “From Luned – the cafe’s chocka!” so she has to leave immediately and thanks Siôn for his help.
"She couldn't ask her own aunt for help" |
Siôn is disappointed to tell Anita, “She couldn’t ask her own aunt for help – she lied about the café doing fine, but she knew you would belittle her if you knew the truth.”
"They're all scroungers round here!" |
Anita still insists that people around there are scroungers, but he explains that a lot of people are finding it difficult, especially with this pandemic.
"The least we can do is help her!" |
“Now, if Kelly wants to help them, the least we can do is help her!” Anita is now silenced.
"Interpol – that's awful!" |
When she hears the news, Angharad squeals, “Interpol – that’s awful! Life’s not easy for you, is it? What with that, and this horrible furniture – you’ve lost so much – valuable things, sentimental things – I’m amazed you’re coping so well.”
"I haven't lost as much as you" |
Gaynor points out that she has not lost as much as Angharad, and suggests that she should put up a photo of Delyth in the house.
She says she has no photos of her daughter |
However, Angharad replies that she does not have any photos of her daughter, which Gaynor finds rather odd. “I did have some, but I just looked at them all the time – I wasn’t eating, I wasn’t sleeping – I was breaking my heart! I gave everything to Jeremy to keep safe until I’m ready – if I ever will be.”
"You've done something very brave" |
Gaynor considers that she has done something very brave.
Hywel is looking forward to his dinner |
Hywel comes in and comments that something smells very nice; Angharad assures him that dinner will not be very long.
"I've realised I have too much stuff" |
Gaynor has been made to realise something very important; she had too much stuff.
Hywel adds that there is a lot to say for letting things go; “It’s the people in my life that are important, not things,” Gaynor declares.
Dani has called Dylan to the flat |
Dylan has been summoned to the Deri flat,
"I'm pulling out of our arrangement" |
where he is informed by Dani, “I’ve decided to pull out of our arrangement,”
He finds this shocking |
which comes as a shock to him. “Garry and I are getting on OK at the moment, and I don’t want things to get difficult,
"For the children's sake – and mine!" |
“for the children’s sake – and mine!”
"He doesn't know about my investment, does he?" |
All that Dylan is interested in is that Garry does not know about his ‘investment’,
"He might find out" |
but Dani says that he might find out – in fact he probably would find out.
"You do remember what he did to you with Jaclyn?" |
“You do remember what he did to you with Jaclyn?” Dylan demands, but she refuses to discuss it any more; she will sort things out in the morning. He leaves the flat, looking rather deflated.
The café seems to be very empty now |
Kelly is poring over the small change in the strangely deserted café, when Anita and Siôn come in; he announces, “We’ve got something to show you, if you want to see it.”
"I've brought some soup recipés" |
Anita has a poster, ‘Choose the price of your soup’ and has brought some soup recipes which are cost-effective and nutritious.
"Compromise, conciliation and cawl" |
Kelly thanks both of them, and Siôn summarises, “Compromise, conciliation and cawl [soup].”
"And a cynghanedd thing" |
Kelly adds, “And a cynghanedd [harmony] thing,” but he points out that the internal rhyme is not quite right. “Way to spoil a beautiful moment!” she groans.
Jaclyn is invited to the garage . . . |
As Jaclyn emerges from the Deri, she receives a text, inviting her to come over to the garage.
. . . and does not notice Dylan lurking nearby |
As she heads in that direction, she apparently does not notice her brother, who is standing nearby. Dylan gets out his phone, as if to alert someone.
An unusual sight greets her . . . |
When she enters the garage, she finds an unfamiliar sight;
. . . soft lights and sweet music |
there are candles and soft music. When she asks what is happening,
This is Garry's wooing technique |
Garry replies that he is trying again. She reminds him that she has already told him how she feels, but he remarks that she did come over.
"I thought you had good news about the garage" |
“Because I thought you had good news for me about the garage, but this – well!”
"This is where things started" |
“This is where things started,” he begins
"It's over, Garry!" |
and again she informs him that it is over. “It was exciting though, wasn’t it?” Garry continues, “You and me – the world in lockdown – nobody knew.
"You still feel something, I know you do" |
“You still feel something, I know you do – you would have been happy with me.”
All of a sudden the peaceful atmosphere is shattered by a loud banging on the shutter door, and the voice of Dylan; “Garry, is my sister in there with you?”
Jaclyn dashes for the exit |
Jaclyn rushes out through the office door, and, pausing only to pick up a large adjustable spanner, he opens the shutters and goes outside.
“I told you, didn’t I?” says Dylan to Dani, whom he had alerted. She now realises why he was so happy this morning,
Garry is equipped with an offensive weapon |
and Garry stands, with his weapon concealed behind his back. Jaclyn protests that they were only talking.
"I my bed in there, too?" |
“That’s why you wanted the candles – is my bed in there, too?” asks Dani;
"We were only talking about the garage" |
Jaclyn insists that they were only talking about the situation with the garage.
"Gerwyn will love this!" |
“Gerwyn will love this!” taunts Dylan, “He has a right to know!”
Garry points out that she is telling the truth, and came over to discuss the garage.
"You're so – desperate!" |
“What – with the candles and the lamp? Did you sing to her, too?” Dylan goes on, “You’re so – desperate!”
Garry raises his spanner . . . |
Garry raises his weapon, about to bring it down on Dylan’s head,
. . . but Dylan is spared an agonising death |
but Jaclyn screams at him to stop.
"You're pathetic!" |
“You’re pathetic!” Dani tells him, and walks towards the Deri.
"Now you've lost both of them!" |
Dylan continues his taunting, “Now you’ve lost both of them! That heart of yours must be aching.”
"I'm happy to stick to our deal" |
As he walks towards Dani he says that he is happy to stick to their deal; “After that little show, I don’t see how you can refuse.
Garry looks up at the garage |
Dani looks at the pathetic figure of Garry and goes into the Deri. Garry turns to survey the garage.
