In the café, Rhys does not believe it; “Ffion and Gerwyn – no way!” he tells Kelly,
![]() |
"Well, it's nice to see her happy" |
who maintains that it is nice to see her happy.
![]() |
"She wouldn't go with him after me!" |
“She wouldn’t go with him after me!” Rhys sneers, “Bit of a downgrade!” as Kelly struggles with the coffee machine.
![]() |
"Sorry – the coffee machine's died – again!" |
“Sorry, no coffee – the machine’s died – again,” she apologises, so he simply turns and walks out; Kelly is looking very disheartened;
![]() |
Kelly sadly closes the café |
she walks through the deserted café, and turns the sign on the door to read ‘closed’.
![]() |
Iolo activates the security devices |
Siôn is visiting Iolo at number 7, and the door is bolted behind him; “It’s like Fort Knox here,” he comments, and as Iolo is making a cup of coffee,
![]() |
"You are all right, aren't you?" |
his father asks, “You’re all right, aren’t you? It’s only natural if this situation raises other problems, as we discussed – you know, the OCD.”
![]() |
"Yes, Dad, I'm all right" |
Iolo insists that he is all right,
![]() |
"Perhaps you can talk to the doctor" |
but his father goes on, “Perhaps you can talk to the doctor, just for a bit of advice.”
![]() |
"You can't control me!" |
Iolo is getting tired of this, and snarls, “We’ve already been through this – you can’t control me!” but he looks very worried.
![]() |
Mathew is sitting alone in the Deri" |
When Rhys comes into the Deri, he notices Mathew sitting alone; “An all-dayer by yourself – people will start to talk!’ he says, and Mathew points out that he is having his lunch.
![]() |
"Fancy a couple of drinks tonight?" |
“Do you fancy a couple of drinks tonight?” Rhys asks him, but this offer is refused.
![]() |
"I've said sorry to Sioned" |
“You’re not still angry with me about that business with Sioned? I’ve said sorry to her,” Rhys protests.
![]() |
"That was not the only reason you were there" |
Mathew has heard that was not the only reason he was at Penrhewl.
![]() |
"I still can't understand why she refused" |
Rhys brags, “I thought she’d enjoy a friend who offers a bonus – I still can’t understand why she refused.”
![]() |
"Because you're so irresistible, aren't you?" |
Mathew laughs, “Because you’re so irresistible, aren’t you?”
![]() |
"Leave Sioned alone!" |
Then he turns serious, warning Rhys, “Leave Sioned alone!” and returns to the paperwork with which he is busy.
![]() |
"I'm up to my ears in debt!" |
Kelly tells Auntie Anita, “I’ve made a complete mess – I’m up to my ears in debt! I’m sure you’ve guessed that things aren’t amazing, like, but things have snowballed and I’m out of control.
![]() |
"I was wondering if you could have a word with Siôn" |
“The thing is, I don’t want to lose this place, because I love it here, so I was wondering if you could have a word in Siôn’s ear.
![]() |
"If you could buy the place and I could run it?" |
“Just wondering if you could buy the place and I could run it?”
![]() |
"Siôn and I aren't together, for a couple of months" |
Anita seems receptive to this idea, but points out, “I would love to help you, but Siôn and I are not together any more – we are, but we’re not – for a couple of months.”
![]() |
"Why didn't you tell me?" |
Kelly is shocked by this revelation, but is told that Anita did not say anything, probably for the same reason that Kelly has not said anything.
![]() |
"Perhaps we don't need Siôn" |
“But listen now, perhaps we don’t need Siôn – I’ve got some money – but you know that I’ll never be a sleeping partner. You’d run the business, but I will want to be part of every decision, and we both know you can’t place all the blame on the pandemic.”
![]() |
"I know it's a big decision" |
Kelly is very relieved to hear this; “I know you’ll have to have a think about it, because it’s a big decision,” she says,
![]() |
"It's an exciting one!" |
but Anita regards it as exciting,
![]() |
"It definitely is!" |
something with which Kelly definitely agrees.
Siôn has gone to have a word with Britt about Iolo;
![]() |
"It's only natural for him to react like that" |
“Well, it’s only natural for him to react like that,” she says, “Especially after what happened with Gwen.”
![]() |
"Now he has organised his own funeral" |
Siôn informs her that Iolo has organised his own funeral; “Wants to get it out of his system, I suppose.
![]() |
"The cancer doesn't always win" |
“But I want him to understand that there’s hope as well – the cancer does not always win – you’re proof of that. Can you have a word with him – perhaps he’ll listen to someone who’s been through the same thing.”
![]() |
"It's not going to be easy, Siôn" |
Britt agrees that she will do so, but she points out, “It’s not going to be easy, remember?

"I'm here for you as well, if you want to talk" |
“I’m here for you as well, if you want to talk.”
![]() |
"I appreciate that, Britt" |

![]() |
"On a date, are you?" |
Mathew is still working on the paperwork in the Deri when Tesni comes in, smartly dressed, and he assumes that she has a date. “I’m working here today – Mam organised it, and we’ll see how it goes,” she says, then asks what he is doing there at this time of day.
![]() |
"I'm pretending to be busy with paperwork" |
“I’m pretending to be busy with paperwork,” he replies, “Cassie’s in the cellar – she’ll be back in a minute –
![]() |

![]() |
"There's nothing wrong with this sink, Britt!" |
Iolo has been called round to the chippy flat, but reports, “There’s nothing wrong with the sink,”
![]() |
"It works sometimes" |
and Britt rather lamely maintains that it works sometimes. Then she tells him not to bother with that, but to come and sit down. Colin is coming upstairs,
![]() |
"Col, make a cup of coffee for Iolo" |
and she tells him to make a cup of coffee for Iolo.
![]() |
"You're talking to me now, remember" |
“How are you?” Britt asks, “You’re talking to me now, remember – I’ve been there.”
![]() |
"I'm all right, Britt" |
Iolo tells her, just as he tells everyone else, that he is all right.
![]() |
Colin looks concerned |
Colin is listening, as Britt reminds him, “Being positive is what is going to get you through this – I’m not saying it’s going to be easy – but I know how strong you are. You’re a fighter.”
![]() |
"Do you take sugar, Iolo?" |
Colin enquires whether Iolo takes sugar, and after this interruption,
![]() |
"We can face things without fear" |
Britt continues, “When I was ill, I didn’t even let myself think I wasn’t going to win – and you shouldn’t either, because we are similar. We’re brave – we can face the things without fear.”
![]() |
"I'm not like you – I'm scared!" |
This is where Iolo disagrees with her; “I’m not like you – I’m scared,” he says, as he gets up from the sofa, and she insists that there is no need to be scared.
![]() |
"I could die!" |
“Yes, there is – I could die,” he emphasises, “I think about that every day – you can’t tell me that won’t happen!”
![]() |
"When I was ill . . .' |
She concedes that she cannot, but begins, “When I was ill . . .”
![]() |
"I don't want help from you or anyone else" |
Iolo stresses that he is not her, he does not want help from her or anyone else. He argues that they cannot save him, and cannot do this any longer,
![]() |
Iolo leaves the flat very rapidly . . . |
as he grabs his jacket and hurries from the flat,
![]() |
. . . and Colin is even more concerned |
much to Colin’s concern.
![]() |
Cassie describes the intricacies of the beer delivery . . . |
Cassie is explaining the workings of the pub,
![]() |
. . . but Tesni pays no attention |
but Tesni is as usual engrossed in her phone;
![]() |
"You're not still doing that sexting?" |
“You’re not still doing that?” Cassie demands, “That sexting business – I don’t believe it, after what happened to Lisa!” She wants Tesni to hand over her phone, but she refuses. “It’s dangerous” Cassie shouts.
![]() |
"No – I was texting Aled" |
“I’ve stopped – why do you think I’m here?” rages Tesni, “I was texting Aled,” but Cassie does not believe a word of it.
![]() |
Tesni demands her pay . . . |
Tesni has had enough by now, and demands to be paid what she is owed.
![]() |
. . . but meets with considerable opposition |
“You’re not getting a penny – I agreed to do this as a favour for your mother, and you haven’t done any work, except working on that phone!” replies Cassie.
![]() |
Proof that it was Aled she was texting |
Tesni receives a reply to her text and shows it to Cassie, remarking that she is not staying to be interrogated,
![]() |
"You're a control freak!" |
and describing her as a control freak.
![]() |
Iolo locks up after Colin's arrival . . . |
Colin is at number 7, and looks worried as Iolo activates the multiple bolts on the front door. “Don’t say that you’re here to tell me to be positive?” says Iolo,
![]() |
. . . and find him holding up a pineapple |
but then is astonished to see Colin holding up a pineapple.
![]() |
"I'm joking-ish!" |
“Yes, I am, using this,” Colin informs him, “Joking – well joking-ish!” As he positions the pineapple on the table,
![]() |
"I'm here to apologise on behalf of Britt" |
he goes on that he is here to apologise on behalf of Britt, although she was just trying to help.
![]() |
Colin gazes fixedly at the pineapple |
He then stares in a mesmerised fashion at the pineapple, which Iolo finds rather offputting; “I’m meditating,” Colin tells him, “That’s what I do when things get a bit too much.
![]() |
"It's more beneficial than checking dozens of locks" |
“Laugh all you like, but it is more beneficial than checking dozens of locks – perhaps you should try it.”
![]() |
"This is an exercise called, 'dharana'!" |
Although Iolo is not interested, Colin continues, “This is an exercise called ‘dharana’!”
![]() |
"What do you have to do?" |
Iolo wonders what he has to do and sits down in the chair. “It’s the ability to concentrate your mind on one thing –
![]() |
"Zoom your focus in on it" |
“and once you’re comfortable, zoom your focus in on it – until you’re concentrating on one specific part of the pineapple.”
![]() |
"Does it have to be a pineapple?" |
Iolo rather frivolously asks if it has to be a pineapple, and is invited to join Colin in his concentration;
![]() |
They both give the pineapple their full attention |
“You’ve got nothing to lose, have you?” and they both stare intently at the pineapple.
![]() |
"Buy the café?" |
“Buy the café?” says Siôn, surprised, “It will be a lot of work.” Anita replies that she has never been scared of hard work.
![]() |
"You said you enjoyed having fewer responsibilities" |
“The other day you said you enjoyed having fewer responsibilities,’ he reminds her.
![]() |
"But Kelly will run the place" |
“But Kelly will run the place,” she points out; he wonders if a business woman like her will be able to take a step back, especially with Kelly in charge.
![]() |
Siôn urges her to think carefully about it |
He goes on, “Look, I don’t want to throw cold water on things, but think about it carefully.
![]() |
"It's taken a long time to repair your relationship" |
“It’s taken a long time for you and Kelly to repair your relationship – you don’t want money and business to damage it.”
Apparently Siôn is having trouble with the remote control for the television, so he takes out the batteries, breathes on them
![]() |
Siôn's unconventional battery rejuvenation |
and rubs them on his jumper before replacing them. Anita concedes that perhaps she did jump the gun with her offer, but just wanted to keep the place in the family;
![]() |
"I've got so many memories of Meic there" |
“I’ve got so many good memories of Meic there.” Siôn reminds her that she will always have those memories, whatever happens.
![]() |
Evidently the news of the pineapple is spreading fast |
Rhys is being informed by phone about Colin and the pineapple; “So you don’t want to come over?
![]() |
"All right, suit yourself!" |
“All right, suit yourself – enjoy your fruit salad.”
![]() |
He fancies a bit of . . . time with Ffion |
As Dylan comes in, he is about to send a text – to Ffion, (who else?) asking if he can come over.
![]() |
"Everyone's busy – including Dad!" |
He dejectedly tells Dylan that he was going to ask a few of the boys to come over; “But everyone’s busy – including Dad!”
![]() |
"How about if I order a pizza?" |
Dylan makes it clear that he is not going anywhere, and opens one of the cans; he proposes ordering a pizza, but Rhys says he will not be staying there long.
![]() |
Rhys discovers someone else is busy |
As he stares at his phone, Dylan wonders who is the lucky woman, as Rhys receives the reply, ‘No, I’m busy’, and looks disappointed.
![]() |
"You're more interested than she is" |
Dylan concludes that he is more interested than she is, and asks if he should get Hawaiian or pepperoni.
![]() |
"Don't tell me, you want to open the champagne!" |
Kelly arrives at the Deri in high spirits; “Don’t tell me, you want to meet here to open the champagne! I’ve been thinking about it loads,
![]() |
"It makes perfect sense" |
“and the more I think, the more I realise it makes perfect sense.”
![]() |
However, Anita has unwelcome news |
Anita has also been thinking about the matter, and Kelly stresses she is perfectly on board to discuss any ideas. “I think I jumped the gun,” says Anita, “I don’t think it’s a good idea – I want to help you, of course I do, but I don’t think this is the best way to do it. We argue all the time as it is, without having a business involved.”
![]() |
Kelly is dismayed |
Kelly looks very deflated as Anita goes on, “We get on well at the moment, don’t we? Better than ever –
![]() |
"I'm so sorry, Kelly" |
“I don’t want anything to spoil it – I’m so sorry.”
![]() |
"Perhaps it's time I faced facts" |
Kelly appreciates the fact that she even thought about it, and that she was honest with her niece; “I don’t know what I should do now – perhaps it’s about time I faced facts and let the place go,” she groans.
![]() |
"I'm waiting for Mam" |
Cassie goes across to where Tesni is texting; “Before you say anything, I’m waiting for Mam – I don’t have my house key,” Tesni explains.
![]() |
"In that case, I'll have a large one" |
Cassie will get her a drink, on the house, so she asks for a large one.
![]() |
"I'm sorry for earlier" |
“I’m sorry for earlier,” Cassie apologises, “Seeing Lisa in such a state left its mark on me – I would never forgive myself if the same thing happened to you.”
![]() |
"Does that mean I shall get paid?" |
Tesni promises that she has stopped with that business, and enquires if that means she will get paid. “If you can tell me how those pumps work, I’ll think about it,” she is told.
![]() |
Iolo appears to be getting the hang of this . . . |
At number 7, the pineapple is still the focus of attention, as Iolo is encouraged to slowly breathe in and out.
![]() |
. . . as Colin instructs him |
“Once you concentrate on your breathing your body movement come much easier.”
![]() |
Iolo feels the benefit already . . . |
Iolo confesses that he feels much lighter already, but is warned that he has to be careful;
![]() |
. . . but Colin points out an unfortunate side-effect |
“As the body relaxes like this, sometimes it’s hard to control your farts!” This makes Iolo laugh,
![]() |
"I've got a spare yoga mat in the flat" |
and he is offered a spare yoga mat, which Colin has in the flat.
![]() |
"I've got nothing to lose, have I?" |
“Yeah, I’ve got nothing to lose, have I?” says Iolo, and as Colin unfastens all the bolts on the door, he is thanked for today.
![]() |
"It's your body that's done all the hard work" |
“There’s no need to thank me – it’s your body that’s done all the hard work – you only have to listen to it!” Colin tells him.
![]() |
Iolo is about to lock up . . . |
Iolo is about to resecure all the bolts
![]() |
. . . but now thinks it is unnecessary |
when he stops himself and walks away from the door, smiling.
![]() |
"Yes, I'd like to arrange a meeting . . ." |
Siôn is on the phone as he approaches the café; “Yes, I’d like to arrange a meeting,” he says,
![]() |
". . . I'm interested in making an investment" |
peering into the empty café. “I’m interested in making an investment. Great, thanks.”
![]() |
He stands back and looks at the café . . . |
He looks up at the café,
![]() |
. . . before walking away |
then walks away.
