Tyler is up early

Tyler is up early and tells Iolo that he has a lot to do today;  he hopes that Iolo will be OK, and is assured, “Yeah, I’ll be fine.”   

"I didn't want to wake you"

Tyler did not want to wake him as he was sound asleep, and will stay for a quick coffee if he would like.   

"I'd better go over and see Dad"

Iolo informs him, “Dad’s tried to phone already – I’d better go over and see him – see you tonight, yeah?”   

Tyler slips out the back way

Tyler leaves through the back door to lessen the chances of his being seen.

Guto is not speaking to his father

At number 10, Guto is certainly not in a talkative mood this morning;  

"Come on, Guto, I'm sorry"

“Come on, Guto, I’m sorry,” says his father, “I feel terrible for doubting you – but you lied about that Alesha.   

"I accept there's nothing gong on"

“All right, I accept there’s nothing going on between you and Ffion.”   Guto wonders how he could possibly think that, and Gerwyn explains, “I thought you were with your girlfriend, so when I saw you leaving Cysgod y Glyn, what was I supposed to think?   Where are you going now?”

"I'm going to apologise for your behaviour!"

Guto replies that he is going to see Ffion;  “To apologise for your behaviour!”   

"No, I'll go and apologise myself"

His father maintains that he should apologise himself, and will go to see her.   “Come on, then!” urges Guto, and they both head towards Cysgod y Glyn.

"I slept with Iol"

In the Deri flat, Dani was not expecting to see Tyler this morning, and has an appointment at 9:30, so tells him to make it quick.   “I slept with Iol,” he announces, much to her surprise.   “It was his idea,” but she points out that Iolo  is in a vulnerable place.

"Are you sure you don't just feel sorry for him?"

“Are you sure you don’t just feel sorry for him? she demands, 

"I love Iolo!"

and he repeats that he loves Iolo.   “You’ve only just finished with Aled,” she reminds him – listen, Tyler, I’ll support you, whatever you decide to do, but please think about it.   

"Think about Greta"

“Think about Greta – you and Iolo are in a good place at the moment – you work well as friends.   

"Before you jump in and make a mess of things"

“Just think about it before you jump in and make a mess of things again.”

Ffion is on her way to school

Ffion is just coming out of her front door when Gerwyn approaches;  

"I just want to explain"

he just wants to explain.   

"You accused me of taking advantage of Guto!"

“What is there to explain?” she snaps, “You accused me of taking advantage of Guto!”

"You haven't got a very good track record"

He inadvisedly points out she has not got a very good track record, and she turns round;  

"That's what the rest of the village thinks, is it?"

“Whoa – that’s what you, and the rest of the village, think of me, is it?   That I jump into bed with young lads every chance I get?”

He apologises for saying that, but Ffion continues, “Do you want to know what the whole village is saying about you?   

"You were too weak to do anything about it!"

“That Jaclyn had an affair with Garry Monk, right under your nose, because you were to weak to do anything about it!”

"We've worked things out"

Gerwyn protests that he is not weak, and that they have worked things out – he has forgiven her.   

"How about when she runs off with him next time?"

“And are you going to forgive her when she runs off with him again?   Everyone but you can see that he’s trying to win her back!”

Everyone's laughing at me, aren't they?"

Gerwyn glumly groans, “Everyone’s laughing at me, aren’t they?”   She assures him that they are just worried about him – he is an honest family man.   He takes this to mean, “They think I’m a doormat, don’t they?”

"Please forget I said anything"

Realising that she has gone too far, Ffion says, “Gerwyn, listen – you’re a good bloke – please forget I said anything,” but the damage is done, and he thanks her for her honesty with him.

Dani is keeping an eye on Garry . . .

Dani comes out of the door of the Deri, 

. . . who steers clear of Dylan

and notices Garry approaching Dylan, who is at the cashpoint;  

Garry is aware that he is being watched, so crosses the road.   

"Do you have any plans this morning, Mark?"

Dani happens to meet Mark, and asks, “This is a bit short notice, but do you have any plans this morning?   I’ve got a scan at the hospital – I know you can’t come in, but do you want to keep me company?”

"Don't you want Dylan with you?"

He anticipated that she would want Dylan to be with her, but she says she would rather do it on her own.   Mark would be pleased to go with her, as he does not like to think of her on her own, and will go and get a couple of cakes for them for the journey.   

"Not cakes – sausage rolls, please"

“Not cakes – sausage rolls, please,” Dani requests.

She watches Dylan, still up by the cashpoint, 

Then she retires to the Deri

then goes back into the Deri.

"I've been thinking a lot about what you said"

In the shop flat, Ray reappears, telling Eifion, “I’ve been thinking a lot about what you said,” 

"What are you doing here?"

and then Mathew comes in, demanding what he is doing there.   

"We need to discuss family stuff"

“Do you have a minute?” asks Ray, “We need to discuss something important – we need to discuss family stuff – things we’ve never discussed before.”   

Mathew appears worried

Mathew looks worried.

"I'm sorry I was angry yesterday"

At Y Felin, Siôn says, “I’m sorry I was angry yesterday – it was so unexpected – are you all right?”   

"Sit down, Iolo – we need to talk"

He invites Iolo to sit down, insisting that it is important that they talk.

"I've been thinking a lot about Mam"

After an initial pause, Iolo begins, “I’ve been thinking a lot about Mam – imagining how she felt.”   

"I should have encouraged you to go for tests"

Siôn has been doing the same, and regrets that he did not encourage his sons to go for tests.   His grandmother died of breast cancer, and then there was Iolo’s mother, so it is possible that it runs in the family.

"This isn't anyone's fault, Dad"

“This isn’t anyone’s fault – you shouldn’t feel guilty,” Iolo tells him, 

"I still miss your mother terribly"

and Siôn admits that he still misses Gwen terribly.

“Do you know what was one of the last things she said to me?” asks Siôn, 

"Who's going to buy your pants and socks?"

“She said, ‘Who’s going to buy your pants and socks every Christmas now?’   You’re right, Iolo – there’s no point worrying about what we could have done.   

"Concentrate on the treatment and get better"

“It’s important to concentrate on the future – concentrate on the treatment and get better.”

"I must be honest with you, Iolo . . ."

Then he gets up from his chair and continues, “But I wouldn’t be able to forgive myself if I wasn’t honest with you now.   “

". . . you can't depend on that Tyler"

Tyler – the truth is, you can’t depend on him.”   

"He's been a big support recently"

Iolo points out that he has been a big support recently, which he has appreciated, 

"But can you trust him?"

but his father asks, “Can you trust him?   Remember what happened with Aled – he deceived you.   You don’t want to give him the chance to do that again – what if he leaves you in the middle of the treatment?   

"You can't depend on Tyler"

“You need to concentrate on yourself now – you can’t depend on Tyler.”

"Aled enjoyed it, too"

Dani arrives at Hywel’s house to speak to Dylan;  he thanks her for the meal last night, and she agrees that it was a lovely night.   “Aled enjoyed it, too,” she adds, 

"I had  scan at the hospital today"

“I’m here to say that I had a scan today in the hospital, – don’t worry, it was routine, and everything is fine.”

"Did you go on your own?"

He wants to know if she went on her own, and when she informs him that Mark went with her, 

"Mark?   I could have gone with you"

he laughs, “I could have gone with you.”

"I told you – my body – my rules!"

She reiterates, “I’ve told you – I want to do this my way – my body – my rules!”   

"I have rights as the father!"

He angrily insists that he has rights as the father, 

"I really don't want to fall out with you"

and she says, “I really don’t want to fall out with you – I just thought you might like to see this,” 

She has a copy of the scan . . .

as she holds up a copy of the scan and puts it on the table.

. . . which Dylan studies

He looks at it without saying anything, and she advises that it is a boy;  

"Cute, isn't he?"

“Cute, isn’t he?   He’s just swimming around, flat out,” she adds, confirming that both she and the baby are healthy.

"I want to be part of his life"

He apologises for losing his temper and maintains that he wants to be part of his life, after missing out on being a father to Aled.   “Perhaps this is a chance to make things right – so could I come to the next scan?”   

"Perhaps"

Her noncommittal answer is that he might, possibly.

Gerwyn is working on a car . . .

Gerwyn is working in the garage, but his mind is not on the job;  

. . . but his heart is not in it

he throws down his spanners and looks distraught.

"He wasn't willing to accept any help?"

After having listened to what Ray has said, Mathew asks, “So he wasn’t willing to accept any help?” and Ray explains that it was a difficult time.   Haydn tried to hide it because he was ashamed.

"I'm sorry for not telling you"

“I’m sorry for not telling you – I realise now, thanks to Eifion, how important it is that you know the truth.   I can’t help but think that if I have been more open, more willing to listen, you would have come straight to me after the attack.   

"I've let you down, Mathew"

“I’ve let you down, Mathew – I’ve let you both down.   

"Things will be different from now on"

“Things will be different from now on – you’re the most important thing in my life.”

Gerwyn sits, brooding in the corner

Gerwyn sits morosely in a corner at the Deri as Dylan comes in with a large bunch of flowers for Dani;  

"I'm celebrating, Garry . . ."

“Listen, let me buy you a pint – I’m celebrating!   Haven’t you heard?   

". . . we're having a boy!"

“Dani had a scan this morning – we’re having a boy!   Seren’s going to have a brother.”

"She already has a brother"

Garry calmly points out that she already has a brother, and Dylan smirks, “She’ll have two, then.”

"Are you telling me this to wind me up?"

“Are you telling me this to wind me up?” Garry enquires, “Because, honestly, I don’t care.”   

Dani comes down to investigate

Dani comes downstairs, 

"I'm just congratulating Dylan on his big news"

and is told, “I’m just congratulating Dylan on his big news – a son, is it?”

"And I was thanking Garry for being a gentlemen"

Dylan in turn says he was just thanking Garry for being a gentleman, and goes upstairs with Dani.   

What Gerwyn has heard galvanises him into action

Gerwyn has been listening to all this from his seat in the corner;  

He puts on his jacket

he appears to have made up his mind, resolutely puts on his jacket and leaves the pub.

"We should have a chat, about us"

Tyler is preparing the meal at number 7 when Iolo returns from Y Felin, and thinks that they should have a chat, about the two of them.   

"Dani asked me some difficult questions . . ."

Tyler says, “That’s a good idea – I was talking to Danny this morning and, to be honest, she asked me a few difficult questions, 

". . . like whether I felt sorry for you"

“like whether I slept with you because I feel sorry for you.   I love you, Iol – I always have.   

"I want to make up for it"

“I feel ashamed for the way I treated you, but I want to make up for it.

"I've decided to concentrate on myself right now"

Iolo stops him there, and has also been thinking about them;  “I’ve decided to concentrate on myself right now,” which comes as rather a shock to Tyler.   

"I can't trust you yet"

“I forgive you for Aled, but I can’t trust you yet – it’s for the best.”

Tyler cannot understand this change of mind;  “Last night was your idea.”   

"I wasn't thinking straight"

Iolo knows that, but was not thinking straight.   

"I'll still need you to be there for Greta"

He maintains that he cannot be in a relationship at the moment;  he will still need Tyler to be there for Greta, 

"Right – friends"

and as a friend, but nothing else.

"You're late – your tea's cold"

Gerwyn arrives home;  Jaclyn points out that he is late and his tea is cold.  “I’ve made your favourite – surf and turf, but I didn’t have any prawns, 

"I had to use fish fingers instead"

“so I had to use fish fingers instead.”   

He looks at her in a forbidding fashion

He stands, silently, looking at her, and she senses something is wrong.

"I've never heard Dad talk that openly"

As he clears away the remains of their fish and chips, Mathew says he has never heard his father talk so openly before;  “The fact that depression is in the family is . . . well, I don’t know, it’s a relief, isn’t it?   

"I don't feel on my own any more"

“I don’t feel on my own any more.   It’s a lot to take in – perhaps I should see a counsellor or something, what do you think?”

"Only now do I find out"

Eifion feels angry that it is only now that he is finding out;  “Perhaps I could have done something to help him,” 

"You were only 14 at the time"

but Mathew reminds him he was only 14 at the time, and his father had a serious mental illness – there was not a lot that Eifion could have done.

"Why don't we go tot he Deri?"

“Why don’t I clear all of these, and we’ll go to the Deri?”   

"That sounds like a good idea"

Eifion regards this as a good idea;  he will go and get changed.   

"Thank you for getting him to talk to me"

“Thank you for getting him to talk to me,” says Mathew.

"Everyone in the village is laughing at me"

Gerwyn begins to speak, “Everyone in the village is laughing at me – do you know that?   Since the affair.”   

"You're being paranoid, Ger"

Jaclyn replies that he is being paranoid, and no-one is doing that.   

"You're still keeping secrets from me"

“Garry’s definitely laughing, isn’t he?   Why didn’t you tell me he was trying to win you back?   You’re still keeping secrets from me – how could you?”

"I didn't want to worry you"

She replies that she did not want him to worry;  “I told him to stay away and that it’s you I want.”

"Do you think I'm a doormat – that I'm weak?"

Gerwyn demands, “Do you think I’m a doormat?   That people walk all over me?   That I’m weak?   

"People are only treated the way they let people treat them"

“I’ve been thinking about the way you’ve treated me – and people are only treated the way they let people treat them!   

"This will be best for everyone . . ."

“I’m sorry, but this will be best for everyone – 

". . . it's over – I want a divorce!"

“it’s over, Jaclyn – I want a divorce!”

She was not expecting that

Jaclyn is totally devastated.
