Tyler arrives at number 7

Next morning, Tyler’s car pulls up outside number 7, 

He knocks on the door

and as he knocks on the door, Aled is coming through the alley, speaking to Dani on the phone;  “That’s fine, Dan, see you later,” he says.   

Aled is nearby . . .

When he notices Tyler, he moves to an inconspicuous position, 

. . . and watches Iolo come out

and watches Iolo come out of the house.

"Taxi for Mr White"

“Taxi for Mr White,” Tyler tells him, and he hopes that it is to take him far away from there;  

"Luxury hotel, posh restaurant – hospital?"

“Luxury hotel, posh restaurant – hospital?” Tyler replies, “I think that sounds like fun as well.”   

"I'll feel a lot better when I get this over with"

Iolo will feel a lot better after he gets this over with, 

The get into the car . . .

and they both get into the car.   

. . . and Aled is concerned

Aled finds this very concerning.

Gerwyn munches his way through the Asda muesli

Gerwyn is eating his Asda fruit and nut muesli;  

"Have you seen your brother this morning?"

he asks Tesni, “Have are you seen your brother this morning?”   

"He keeps going off somewhere . . ."

She snaps that he is probably still in his room, but her father thinks there is something wrong with him;  “He keeps going off somewhere without saying where – nearly every day – 

". . . I think he's got a girlfriend"

“I think he’s got a girlfriend.”

Tesni does not think that her father makes a very good Sherlock Holmes, and asks whether he has tracked Guto’s phone, “Or put a chip in him so you can see where he is?”   

"I have a secret weapon – you!"

Gerwyn announces that he has a secret weapon – Tesni, but she is adamant that she is not going to be Watson to his Sherlock.

“Come on, Tes – imagine how happy your mother will be if he’s got a girlfriend – if that fails, then I’ll track his phone.”   Tesni is not promising anything.

"It's rather early, even for you, Kath"

Kath comes into the Deri, and Cassie remarks, “It’s rather early, even for you,” and Kath enquires if the Spanish lessons are starting up again today;  she is surprised that no-one else has turned up, but Cassie imagines that they are all probably running a bit late.

"I'm here for the Spanish lesson"

At that moment Brynmor arrives, ostensibly for the Spanish lesson;  

"Looks like it's only you and me, Kath"

“Looks like it’s only you and me, Kath,” he remarks.

Dani has had some time off

Dani comes into the salon, and is pleased to have taken half a day;  

"It's pretty quiet here"

Aled is looking downcast, reporting that things have been quiet there.   She tells him to reveal what is bothering him, and he whines, “Are you sure there’s nothing going on between Iolo and Tyler?   

"Something is going on, isn't it?"

“They went off in the car together, just the two of them – something is going on, isn’t it?”

Dani insists that he is reading too much into it, but he goes on, “Why else would two exes go away together?”   

"They're not 'going away' together"

She points out that they are not ‘going away’ together, so he intends to phone Tyler.

"Tyler is taking Iolo to the hospital"

Danny will not permit this and has to explain, “Tyler is taking Iolo to a hospital appointment, because he’s found a lump – he is having a scan and tests and stuff.   

Aled is sworn to secrecy . . .

Don’t tell him that I’ve told you – nobody knows.   

. . . and appears shocked

Aled seems shocked by the news.

They arrive at the hospital

The car has arrived in the hospital car park;  

"I shall be here, waiting for you"

Iolo gets out and is assured that Tyler will be there waiting for him.   

"I'd do anything to have you in there with me"

“I’d do anything to have you in there with me,” says Iolo. 

Tyler feels the same, blaming, “Bloomin’ Covid!” and urging him not to worry, as he is in the right place, and being seen quickly.

“I hate the fact that I have to be here at all,” Iolo groans, 

"What if I find out I've got cancer?"

“I’m scared – what if I find out I’ve got cancer?”   Tyler stresses that he may well find out he has not.   “But what if it is? asks Iolo, 

"If it comes to that, we'll deal with it"

and is told that they will deal with it, if it comes to that, together.

The inquisition begins

At number 10, Guto comes downstairs and his sister asks where he is going;  “Out,” he replies, and she wants to know where.   “To see a friend,” is his answer, and now she enquires what sort of friend, 

"What's her name, then?"

and what is her name.

"Alys – and it's complicated"

“Alys,” he makes up on the spur of the moment, “And it’s complicated.”   

"Alys will be looking for you!"

She advises that he had better go, or Alys will be looking for him, 

Tesni looks very pleased with herseif

and looks very satisfied at eliciting this information.

"Well, it's obviously been cancelled"

As they sit there in the Deri, Kath comes to the conclusion that the class has been cancelled;  “It’s a shame they didn’t let us know.”   Brynmor suggests that they might as well have another drink, as they are there;  

"Might as well – if you're buying"

“We might as well – if you’re buying,” she says.

"Have you heard from Deio?"

“Have you heard from Deio?” he wonders, 

"That's none of your business, Brynmor"

and she points out that is none of his business;  

"I told Cassie you could be in danger"

“I just heard things about him – and I told Cassie that you could be in danger, if it was that same Deio you were meeting.   I was worried, and I’m so glad you cancelled.”

"I went over there, but it didn't feel right"

“Kath confesses that is not what she did;  “I went over there, to Gorslas – I felt a bit embarrassed – it didn’t feel right, you know – I felt a bit uncomfortable.”   

"He didn't try anything on, did he?"

Brynmor is anxious that Deio did not try anything on, 

"He went to the toilet – and I left"

but she says, “He went to the toilet, and I left – how stupid was I?   I never want to get myself in that situation again.”

He points out that it was not her fault, and that she did get out;  

"You're obviously a good judge of character"

“You’re obviously a good judge of character,” 

"I'm not so sure – I'm sitting here with you!"

but Kath is not so sure about that, reminding him that she is sitting there with him.

Iolo comes out of the hospital

Tyler is sitting, waiting in the car, when he sees Iolo approaching;  

"It's possible it's cancer"

“The radiologist said there is an obvious lump there – they’re not sure that it’s cancer, but it’s possible.   They want to run the more tests – scan, biopsy – I’m not going back!”

"We have to find out what it is, Iol"

Tyler makes it quite clear that he has to;  they have to find out what it is, 

"I just want to go home"

but Iolo is tired and wants to go home.   “And stay there worrying, until you get your next appointment?   

"I'm beginning to enjoy hanging around this car park"

“That will just drag things out and make everything worse.   Anyway, I’m beginning to enjoy hanging about in this car park.”

"The results will be some time this week"

Iolo reveals that the results will be some time this week, and then they will know what it is.

Ray has crept back into the shop flat

Ray is back at the shop flat, collecting some of the things he left behind, including a couple of books;  

"What are you doing here?"

Eifion comes in unexpectedly and finds him there.   He explains that he was picking up a few bits and pieces he left last week, and he did not want to bother the two of them;  

"There's half a pot of jam here"

“There’s half a pot of jam that I bought – you’re welcome to it,” he says.

He apologises for leaving in such a hurry, but Eifion is rather glad that he did;  

"You gave me a hard time"

“You gave me a hard time because you found out about my sexuality.”   

"I'm not comfortable talking about things like that"

Ray is not comfortable talking about things like that, but admits that he should not have reacted in the way he did, because he knows how depression affects a person.

"I don't want it to come between us"

“I don’t want you to be depressed because of what I said – what I’m trying to say is, I don’t want it to come between us – do you understand?”   Eifion is not sure that he should be the one forgiving Ray, 

"Do you want a cup of tea?"

and asks if he wants a cup of tea.

Tesni cannot wait to tell her father the news

Tesni is still sitting on the sofa when her father comes home early, as he has had a cancellation;  “I thought I’d come home to get a snack.”   

"There is a girl on the scene . . ."

Tesni reports that Watson has something to tell Sherlock;  “There is a girl on the scene – he was a bit cagey, 

". . . and her name's Alys"

“but her name’s Alys – that’s all he was willing to say.”   

"Alys and Guto – that has a nice ring to it!"

Gerwyn welcomes this information, considering that Alys and Guto has a nice ring to it.

Tesni emphasises that he did not want to talk about her and is still hiding something;  

"He said things were complicated"

“He said that things were complicated.”   

"Does that mean a boyfriend – or husband?"

Her father fears that she has a boyfriend or husband.   Tesni stresses that she is not going to ask him anything else;  “You’re on your own now, Sherlock!”

"She was twenty years older than she said!"

Brynmor and Kath seem to be getting on well, as he recalls that one of his dates sent photos from 2002;  “She was twenty years older than she’d said!”   

"You've got a lot more experience than me"

Kath realises that he has had worse dates than she has, but points out that he has a lot more experience than she does.

"I'm so glad you walked out on that Deio"

“I’m so glad that you walked out on that Deio,” he repeats, 

"Why's my love life so important to you?"

and she wonders why her love life is so important to him.   He maintains that she deserves better;  

"You're a very special woman"

“Honestly, you’re a very special woman – it’s not right if someone takes advantage of you.”   

Kath views this with pinch of salt

She looks very sceptical as he continues, “I mean, I’d be very happy to have someone like you on my arm.”

"You're too old for me, for a start!"

“You’re not serious?” she demands, “You’re too old for me, to start with!”   He hopes that she is not ageist, and she laughs, “I haven’t thought about dating someone who lives in a home!   Perhaps if Mr Right turned up.”

Aled keeps up the surveillance

Aled is standing in the doorway of the salon, keeping watch on number 7;  “What’s this?   Neighbourhood Watch?” asks Dani, “Are they home?   Does everything look OK?”   

"They looked very close, Dan"

He replies that it is hard to say, but they look very close.

"It won't help things if they see you staring"

“Look, I’ve told you that Iolo just want someone to be there for him – it won’t help things if they see you staring at them.”   

"They haven't seen me"

When he protests that they have not seen him, she stresses, “They will do, if you carry on!” 

He still cannot resist doing it

but when she goes to get some biscuits, he cannot resist looking along the street again.

Ray thinks it is time he went

Ray will have to be going, and thanks Eifion for the tea;  “And for . . . well, forgiving me.”   

"I'm glad we are all right again"

Eifion is glad that they are all right again, and reminds Ray not to forget his bag.   

"There's something in there you may recognise"

“There’s something in there that you may recognise,” he says, 

"Dad's cap – he would never leave the house without it"

and Eifion finds his father’s cap, which he would never leave the house without.   He is told to keep it, because he should have it.

"I don't even have a photo of him"

“I don’t even have a photo of him,” says Eifion, but as Ray is going back and forth to Swansea, he will bring over some photos, 

"It was always a comfort to see Haydn when he was happy"

recalling that it was always a comfort to see Haydn when he was happy.   

"What do you mean – happy?"

Eifion wonders what he means, but Ray will not explain further.   “We all have our unhappy times, don’t we?” is all he will say, 

"Look at the time – I must go!"

then adds, “Look at the time – I shall be in trouble if I don’t go now.   Give my regards to Mathew.”

"Things are less clear than this morning"

Iolo grumbles, “I thought I’d have more answers by now – if anything, things are less clear than this morning.   

"Now I have to wait for the results, and I'm shattered"

“I’ve tried to be positive all day – now I have to wait for the biopsy results, and I’m shattered.”   

"I'm sorry I can't do anything to help"

Tyler is sorry that he cannot do or say anything to help, but is assured that he has been a lot of help;  

"I could never have done it without you"

“I couldn’t have done it without you.”

"A cup of tea and some biscuits would help"

Tyler predicts that a cup of tea would help, and hopes that Iolo has some nice biscuits;  

"Can you stay here tonight?"

Iolo begs him, “Can you staying here tonight – on the sofa?   I don’t want to be on my own!” 

"I'm always here for you, Iol"

and Tyler will to hear only too glad to do so, reiterating that he is always there for Iolo.

"It's a pity the night has to come to an end"

“It’s a pity the night has to come to an end,” say Brynmor, but Kath will have to go and cook dinner for Mark.   

"Isn't he old enough to look after himself?"

“Isn’t he old enough to look after himself?   We should do this again some time,” Brynmor adds, and Kath agrees, although she suspects it is the lager talking.

"Kissing someone who lives in 'a home'?"

“Well, now you’re considering going for date with someone who lives in ‘a home’, would you also consider kissing someone who lives in ‘a home’?” he enquires.

"Brynmor – what kind of woman do you think I am?"

She adopts a tone of disapproval;  “Brynmor – what kind of woman do you think I am?   Kissing on the first date?”   He is pleased that she regards their meeting as a date, and wonders when she would kiss someone.   

"You'll have to wait and see, won't you?"

She informs him that he will have to wait and see.   

He looks at Cassie . . .

He looks across at Cassie, 

. . . who is happy with the way things are going

who considers that her plan went very well.

"Where have you been today?"

At number 10, they are waiting when Guto returns, and his father demands where he has been today.   

"You're interfering as well, are you?"

“You’re interfering as well, are you?” Guto sighs, 

"What have you been saying, Tes?"

but Gerwyn considers that from what he has heard he has a reason to interfere.

"I understand that it's 'complicated'!"

“Your sister hasn’t said a thing, just that you have a girlfriend – and the situation is complicated.   I’m just trying to help.”   Guto makes it very clear that he does not want his father’s help, and cannot believe that he is being offered advice.

"I had a girlfriend – Petula"

“You might be surprised to hear that I had a life before meeting your mother – I had a girlfriend too,” Gerwyn explains, “Petula.”   

Tesni sniggers at the thought of 'Petula'

Tesni sniggers, and he goes on, “We did folk dancing together.”

"What's that got to do with anything?"

“What has that got to do with anything?” she laughs, and her father recalls that things were complicated between them.   

"Danced better than you, did she?"

Guto assumes that she danced better than him, but is told that Petula was married.

“Nobody’s married, Dad!” Guto explains, “There’s nothing going on between me and Alesha!   

"I don't want to talk about it to either of you!"

“I don’t want to talk about it to either of you!   So just leave it!”   With that he hurries upstairs, 

"No way did Petula ever exist!"

commenting, “No way did Petula ever exist!”

"He said her name's Alesha . . ."

“Dad, did you hear what he said?” ask Tesni, “That her name’s Alesha – 

". . . but earlier it was Alys"

“he said Alys earlier!”   

Gerwyn wears his usual perplexed look

Gerwyn is at a loss to know what is going on.
