Dani is not looking full of the joys of spring

Dani is standing outside the Deri, looking rather unwell;  across the road, outside the chippy, 

"I see he's not with her now, then!"

Britt greets Mark, “I see he’s not with her now, then!   That Dylan – sniffing around her – I think there’s something going on between those two!”   

"I've lost track of who's with who"

“I’ve lost track of who’s with who – it makes my job harder,” he complains, and Britt wonders if Dani has said anything to him;  

"Give me a shout if you hear anything"

“she would like to be tipped off if she does say anything.

Garry has been shopping

Iolo is doing some tidying when Garry comes into number 7;  “Are you all right?” he asks, 

"Organic, no pesticides"

“I’ve bought some fruit – help yourself – organic, no pesticides.   You can’t tell how all these chemicals affect our bodies.”   

"Tyler told you, didn't he?"

Iolo immediately knows that Tyler has told him about the illness.

“At least I’ll understand now if you’re depressed, or angry, “Garry adds, but Iolo says that he is fine, and Garry will go out to give him a bit of space.   

"I'll help you from now on"

“If you need anything, you only need to ask.   I’ll help you from now on – instead of having to turn to Tyler!”

Gerwyn has now been brought his shaver

Guto has brought over his father’s shaver, so that now he can have a proper shave, and Kath comments, 

"It will save you stealing Mark's razors"

“It will save you stealing Mark’s razors!”   Gerwyn points out that they make a mess of his sensitive skin.   Guto has to go because he is studying Spanish, and Kath says that Non would be proud of him.

"I hope to go to Spain this summer"

He is hoping to go to Spain in the summer, and Gerwyn suggests that perhaps Brynmor could join him for the lessons.   Guto replies that Brynmor says he is too busy;  his father smirks, “He’s got more important things to do, hasn’t he?”   

"Grow up, Gerwyn, will you?"

Kath tells him to grow up.

When Gerwyn asks if Jaclyn is all right, 

"Ask her yourself, Dad"

Guto replies, “Ask her yourself, Dad – you can’t stay friends if you don’t talk,” and leaves the house.   

"Leaving Jaclyn was the easy part"

Gerwyn groans that leaving Jaclyn was the easy part;  it is harder to deal with how it has affected the children;  “It’s odd, isn’t it?   You’ve found a new partner, and I’ve left my lifelong partner.”   

"We're not partners – we don't suit each other"

Kath makes it clear to him that she and Brynmor are not partners;  she has made up her mind she is not going to see him again, maintaining that they do not suit each other.

"Iolo must have had a heck of a shock"

Garry has gone to pass on the news to Britt, who says, “Poor Iolo – he must have had a heck of a shock – I’ve always had a soft spot for him.”   

"And I almost kicked him out a few weeks ago"

Garry ruefully remarks that he almost kicked Iolo out a few weeks ago, and is advised by his sister not to treat him any different, but to act normally.   

"That's what I wanted when I had cancer"

“Well, that’s I wanted when I had cancer.”

"My problems are nothing compared with Iolo's"

“To think I’m worrying about the businesses – my problems are nothing compared to Iolo’s,” he says, “My cash flow is still serious,” 

"I was not much help, using your credit card!"

and she concedes that she did not help much by using his credit card in Disneyland.   “I don’t know how I’m going to find the money to buy Dani out,” he frets.

"That is what Dani wants"

“Do you have to divorce now?” Britt asks, and he says that is what she wants;  

"Is it Dani – or Dylan?"

“But is it Dani who wants that – or Dylan?” she wonders, “Yeah, I think they’re together – I’m worried that he wants to get his hands on all the businesses.   “He can’t be trusted.”   

Garry rushes off . . .

He walks out of the chip shop flat without a further word, 

. . . and sees Tyler on the way

and as he is crossing the road to the Deri, 

He puts Tyler in his place

Tyler asks him about Iolo.   “He knows that if he want anything, he just has to ask,” is the reply, “There’s no need for you to pop over every minute – now if you don’t mind, I need a private chat with Dani!”

"I'm worried I'm the reason you left Jaclyn"

Outside the shop, Ffion informs Gerwyn, “I’ve been worried sick that I was the reason you left Jaclyn,” 

"I should be thanking you"

but he says he should thank her for making him realise he was such a doormat – letting her just walk all over him.   

"I want to sell my car"

Ffion also would like some advice from him, as she wants to sell her car;  

She notices Rhys across the road

then she notices Rhys on the other side of the road.

“There’s no point in it rusting away until I get my licence back,” she explains, and he says he will come over to price it up.   

"There's something I have to do"

She insists that there is something important she has to do now, and hurries off after Rhys.

"I don't know why I bother"

In the Deri, Kath is once again complaining about men;  “I don’t know why I bother.”   Cassie thought that they would have got to know each other better last night, and Kath stresses that she tried;  

"I pulled out all the stops"

“I pulled out all the stops,” but Cassie suggests that things did not tick over as they should.

“Bloomin’ nonsense about a third date – what was that about?”  Kath groans, and is invited to bring him over to the Deri for a drink;  

"I'll find out what tickles his fancy"

Cassie promises that it will only take two minutes to find out what tickles his fancy.

“You think you know everything about men, don’t you?” snarls Kath, 

"Thanks to you, I might never see him again"

“Thanks to you, I might never see him again!”

"Lie down and I'll call the doctor"

Garry recommends that Dani should lie on the sofa and he will phone the doctor;  

"Do stop fussing, Garry!"

she tells him to stop fussing.   “You’re putting both your lives in danger,” he emphasises, 

"It's only morning sickness – like with Seren"

but she points out that it is only morning sickness, just as it was with Seren.   She wants to know why he is there, but he would rather talk about it another day.

"You're here now – so spill!"

“You’re here now – so spill!” she instructs him, and he says that it is about the divorce, 

"It's bound to upset the children"

which is bound to upset the children, especially Gwern.

“He knows exactly what is going on, Dan,” 

"We must make sure it doesn't get acrimonious"

and she responds that it is up to them to make sure it does not get acrimonious.   “With two solicitors going head to head – impossible!” is his evaluation.   

"I'm worried how this circus will affect you"

“Be prepared for lots of tears – and I’m worried how this circus will affect you – you’ve got a business, a baby . . .”

"What are you suggesting?"

“So what are you suggesting?” she demands, and he would prefer to delay the divorce, just for a while, to give her the opportunity to have a stressfree pregnancy.

"I want a fresh start!"

“Garry, I don’t want to be married to you when the baby arrives,” Dani informs him, “I want a fresh start,” 

"It makes sense, doesn't it?"

but he maintains they will only be married on paper, and insists that it makes sense.   She reluctantly agrees that it might be best, but then has to run to the bathroom.

Kath tucks into her Pot Noodle

Kath is sitting in front of the television, eating a Pot Noodle, when there is a knock at the door;  “Come in – it’s open,” she shouts, 

She was not expecting her visitor

and is amazed to see Brynmor standing there with some flowers.   

"How are you, Kath?"

“How are you, Kath?” he says sheepishly.

Ffion and Rhys appear to be enjoying themselves . . .

Guto arrives at Cysgod y Glyn and finds Ffion and Rhys ‘in flagrante delicto’, 

. . . but are rudely interrupted

which is rather embarrassing for them all.   

"Sorry, I didn't know you had 'company'!"

“Sorry, I didn’t know you had ‘company’,” Guto apologises, and Ffion explains that she gave him a key so that he could come and go as he pleases.   

"Well, knock next time!"

Rhys warns him to knock next time, 

"I'll go home"

and Guto thinks he had better go home, but Ffion insists that Rhys was just leaving;  

"I've got another PT session anyway"

he says that he has another PT session now, anyway.

"Roses are my favourites"

Kath puts the flowers in water, commenting that roses are her favourite flowers;  he refers to what he describes as her Cordon Bleu lunch.   

He notices the Pot Noodle

“I’ve never tried one of those,” and she points out that Mark buys them;  as there was nothing else for lunch, she had that.

Brynmor says that if she is not going to finish it, he would like to, because he is starving;  “Help yourself.”   

"There's something I'd like to talk to you about"

He sits down and has something on his mind he would like to talk about with her.

“I’ve kicked myself a couple of times for disappearing last night with no explanation,” he begins, 

"Well, I was a bit forward"

and Kath suspects she may be to blame for that, as she was a bit forward – and probably a bit drunk.   She is out of practice with men.

"I didn't recognise the Kath that was here"

He admits that he wanted to stay, but was a bit nervous;  “I didn’t recognise the Kath that was here – I wanted to see the right Kath – she’s the one I like.   

"Not the Kath who pretended to like Rioja!"

“Not the Kath who pretended to like Rioja – put it this way – I’ve never seen you drink anything so slowly before.”

Kath finds this amusing

This makes her chuckle, and he asks what she has to drink today;  “Today we have lager – or we have lager,” she replies, “Don’t pretend to like it when you don’t, all right?”

"Thanks for letting me come over"

Outside Cysgod y Glyn, Ffion can see that Guto is doing well with his Spanish, and he thanks her for allowing him to come over again.   

"I'd be grateful if you didn't tell anyone"

She wants him to wait a moment;  “I’m sorry about earlier – I’d be grateful if you didn’t tell anyone.”   

"Its was a shock to see you together again"

He agrees that he will not breathe a word, but says it was a shock to see them together again, 

"Just a little innocent fun!

although she argues that they are not back together, but just having a little innocent fun.   He can see that they understand each other.

"It can be lonely"

“I haven’t been with anyone since before lockdown, and it can be lonely,” she confesses;  

"You said Rhys was rather immature"

he mentions that she said Rhys was rather immature, and she agrees that he can be childish, “But his ‘six pack’ does something to me!”

"I was talking to Britt earlier"

Garry tells Iolo that he was talking to Britt earlier;  “She told me that it was important I don’t treat you any differently.”   

"I wasn't supposed to tell anyone, was I?"

Then he realises, “I wasn’t supposed to tell anyone, was I?”   

"I haven't had time to deal with it myself"

Iolo comments that he has not had a lot of time to deal with it himself yet.

Garry has done some online research

“Anyway, what I’m trying to say is, I’m not going to buy you any more fruit – and I’ve done a bit of research – a lot of men who’ve had prostate cancer get the all clear.   They can enjoy life again – you would never know they had been ill.”

"I've got breast cancer"

Iolo enlightens Garry that he has breast cancer;  

"You haven't any breasts"

“You haven’t got any breasts,” Garry points out, but is informed that he has.   “What – men can have that?” he says, perplexed, “No wonder you want to keep it quiet!”   

This does nothing to make Iolo feel better

This does nothing to make Iolo feel any better, and as Garry goes out through the back door, 

Then Tyler arrives

Tyler comes in through the front.

"I'm no use to anyone!"

“Garry was here – I should be less sensitive,” Iolo groans, “I’m no use to anyone!”   

"You're allowed to be upset"

Tyler assures him he is allowed to be upset, but he shouts, “It’s not fair!   Why do I have breast cancer?   I’m much too young!   I think Greta should stay with you full-time – 

"I don't know how I shall feel after the op"

“I don’t know how I shall feel after the op and the treatment – I’ll probably be too tired to pay her any attention.”   Tyler says that he may have an idea to solve their problem.

"All there is in here is milk and lager"

Brynmor is surprised to see that all there is in the fridge is lager and milk, but Kath is not at allconcerned about that;  “There’s a chippy in the village, and there’s Cwm Delhi!   What more do we need?”

"I love looking at you, Kath"

He says that he loves looking at her, but she thinks it is the lager talking.   

"I'm sorry for embarrassing you"

He is sorry for embarrassing her, 

"You just carry on"

but she tells him to carry on;  

"What if we took these upstairs?"

“What if we took these upstairs?” Brynmor tentatively suggests.

"I'm glad you've decided to stay a Monk a bit longer"

Dani is dozing on the sofa as Britt tells her, “I’m glad you’ve decided to stay a Monk for a bit longer – there is no point in rushing a divorce.”

"I hope you're not trying to persuade me"

“I hope you’re not trying to persuade me to take Garry back,” Dani replies, but Britt is just pleased that they understand each other now, 

Britt suggests an old wives' remedy for morning sickness

and asks if Dani would like to bite into a lemon, which she says worked for her when pregnant, but Dani declines this suggestion.

“Isn’t Dylan home then?” Britt enquires, 

"Dylan doesn't live here"

and she is reminded that Dylan does not live there.   “No, but he’s back and forth all the time,” and Dani believes that Britt is keeping tabs on her.   “You are an item, aren’t you?” is the next question.

Dani explained that she is tired and does not want to discuss the matter;  “If he is back and forth, it’s nothing to do with you.”   

"I don't trust Dylan, Dani"

Britt makes it very clear that she does not trust Dylan, and Dani regards that as odd, because neither does Garry trust him.   “I know what I’m doing,” Dani tells her, and Britt leaves the flat.

Gerwyn detects certain sounds from upstairs . . .

As they return to Maes-y-Deri from the Deri, Gerwyn is concerned to hear loud laughter coming from upstairs, 

. . . although Mark has not noticed

although Mark does not seem to have heard this.   Noticing Brynmor’s jacket on the chair, Gerwyn realises what is going on 

He turns up the television volume

and turns up the television to mask the noise.

"Are you deaf, or what?"

“Good grief – are you deaf, or what?” Mark demands, 

"Why don't we go for a pint?"

and Gerwyn suggests that they should go for a pint.   

"We've only just got back from the Deri!"

“We’ve only just got back from the Deri,” Mark reminds him.   Gerwyn fancies going to the Bull, as they do nice food there, two for one – 

"I'll pay!"

and he will pay.   This convinces Mark, as the sounds from upstairs continue.   

Gerwyn cannot ignore those sounds

The television is turned off before they leave.

Tyler's bags are at number 7

Garry finds Tyler at number 7;  he has brought his bags with him.   “I’m moving in to look after him,” says Tyler, “Iol’s upstairs now, sorting out the futon in Greta’s room.”

"Not without my permission!"

“No, not without my permission,” Garry informs him, 

"It will be easier if I'm here to look after Iolo"

but Tyler argues that things will be easier for him too if he is here to look after Iolo and Greta.

"We all remember how you treated him"

“You had your chance with Iolo – we all remember how you treated him!” Garry snarls, “You’re not hurting him again.”   

"What is your problem, Garry?"

Tyler maintains that they are friends and wonders what is Garry’s problem;  “Don’t tell me – this is all about Aled again?” Tyler growls, and he is reminded how he took advantage of a schoolboy.   

"You'll have to throw me out!"

“Why are you bringing this up again, with Iol so sick?” Tyler demands, and is told to get out of the house.

“You’ll have to throw me out, Garry!” he roars, 

"My pleasure!"

and Garry will find that a pleasure;  

Garry picks up the bags

he picks up Tyler’s two bags, 

"Your name will be mud"

as Tyler goes on, “Your name will be mud when people realise you kicked me out because I wanted to look after a man suffering from cancer!”

He lifts up the bags . . .

Garry lifts up the bags, 

. . . then drops them and walks out of the house

then throws them down on the table and walks out of the house.
