There will be a large attendance tomorrow

Rhys is lying on the sofa and reports to Ffion that more people are saying they are coming to the opening tomorrow;  she regards that as good news, 

"I shall have to order more food"

but he is worried that there will not be room for everyone, and he will have to order more food.   

"Kelly will be able to make the extra food"

She is sure they will fit everyone in;  “A few extra sandwiches and sausage rolls won’t be a problem.   Relax –everything will be fine – Kelly will be able to make the extra food, 

"You're worrying about nothing"

“and you’re worrying about nothing.”   She calls Arwen, warning that she will be late for school.

A large box has been delivered for Anita

While Anita is still in her pyjamas, Siôn is on the phone to the police;  

"Only if it leads to catching the vandal!"

“That’s right, £300 – but only if it leads to catching the vandal who destroyed the oak.”   He reports that the police will be phoning back later, 

"What have you had delivered?"

and wonders what she has had delivered.

“Just a few little things for Greta,” she replies, 

"£195?"

and he notices the price tag on the car seat, £195, considering that it is too much.   

"She won't need the nursery, now 'Grandma' is available"

“You need to tell Iolo to cut her hours at the nursery – there is no point paying for that when ‘Grandma’ is available.   

"She'll need her family's support even more now!"

Little Greta is in the middle of a crisis – she’ll need her family’s support even more than ever now!”

"Extra sarnies and sausage rolls"

Kelly is taking down Rhys’ additional order;  “An extra dozen ham sarnies, and another tray of sausage rolls.”   

"You might even get the leftovers from Tapas as well!"

Jason suggest that if he asks her nicely, he might get the leftovers from Tapas as well.   Pretending to be offended, Kelly wonders, “Are you saying Dylan’s Tapas is better than the café?   

"We don't know what the chef's like, do we?"

“We don’t know what the chef’s like, anyway, do we?   My first shift is not until tonight”

Jason is concerned she does not overdo it

Jason is concerned that she will do too much over there, and points out that it is no joke cooking Tapas after slaving away here all day.   

"I can't be at the opening"

Then he turns to Rhys;  “The big day’s almost here, but I don’t think I can be at the opening – I’m starting a job in Cwrtmynach tomorrow.   Are there any finishing touches you want me to do?”

"You can help me with what I'm going to do with Ffion!'

“You can help me with what I’m going to do with Ffion,” groans Rhys, “I shall need a JCB to dig me out of this hole!   

"I'm too young to think about getting married!"

“I just feel I’m too young to think about getting married!”   

"And it's supposed to be 'for ever'"

Jason reminds him that it is supposed to be ‘for ever’;  Rhys comments that ‘for ever’ is a long time.

"I haven't been successful in that area"

“Sorry boy – I’m not the best person to ask about relationship advice,” confesses Jason, “I haven’t been successful in that area,” and he leaves for work.

"I'm going to try this recipé for Garry and Tyler"

In the shop, Dani has selected a magazine containing a recipe which she is going to try tonight for Garry and Tyler;  “Are you going to ask how Tyler is?” she says, and Colin is rather evasive.   

"When you think of the history between Neville and Aaron"

He alludes to the history between Neville and Aaron, and she immediately snarls, “You’re not comparing them with Tyler and Aled, I hope?   

"What are you trying to say, Colin?"

“What are you trying to say?”

Colin is not quite sure himself, and Dani points out that Tyler is fine;  

"Serving in the Deri – that's brave!"

“I heard that he has been serving in the Deri – that’s brave,” Colin says, “Well, you know, having to face punters, customers – some people must have judged him.”   

"Only people who don't know the facts!"

Dani makes it quite clear that it is only people who do not know the facts;  

"He's family – and so are you, Col!"

“Just remember, he’s family.   And you’re family too – through Britt, OK?”

"That's a lovely scarf, Greta!"

As she leaves the shop, Anita comes across the road with Greta in the buggy, and Dani admires her scarf, saying it is lovely.   

"That's what I thought when I bought it!"

“That’s what I thought when I bought it!” Anita emphasises.

"Can she have a sleepover with Tyler tonight?"

Dani asks if Greta can have a sleepover with Tyler tonight, and the immediate answer is no.   Nevertheless, Dani asks Greta if she would like a sleepover with Dadi, 

"After beoing out all day with her 'Gran'"

but is told, “She’s with Iolo tonight, after being out all day with her ‘Gran’.   I’m not going to stand here listening to your nonsense all day!”   

"What do you mean – nonsense?"

Anita walks away, but Dani follows, not appreciating the term ‘nonsense’.

"There's no point pretending we're friends"

“Well, that’s what it is!” sneers Anita, “There’s no point pretending we’re friends, because we both know that’s not true.”   Dani suggests that if they could get on together, then so could Iolo and Tyler, but Anita regards that as a terrible idea;  

"It would be a mistake, after Tyler cheated on him!"

“Getting back with Tyler would be a mistake, especially after he cheated on him!”   

"You weren't an angel when you went off with Colin!"

Kelly has just come out of the café with her specials board, and is listening to this conversation;  Dani describes Anita as being very smug, and reminds her that she was not an angel, when she went off with Colin.   “Well, at least I didn’t break the law!” Anita rages, and continues on her way.

Britt and Izzy are 'bin-diving'

In the back street, Britt and Izzy are looking in the bins and retrieving glass jars.   

"Look, I've found another one!"

Ffion is on her way to school with Arwen, and when she sees their activity, wonders what on earth they are doing.  

They are behaving like a pair of hysterical children

 They laugh hysterically, and run off along the street.

"She doesn't want Tyler to see Greta"

Dani comes into the café, and asks Kelly if she has any vodka or gin;  “I can understand why you don’t like her – she doesn’t want Tyler to see Greta!   And, honestly, she calls herself, ‘Mam-gu’!”

"It's obvious why she's doing it, Dani . . ."

Kelly points out that it is obvious why she is giving Greta so much attention;  

"Greta is just a substitute for Paul"

“Come on, Dani – to Auntie Anita, Greta is just a substitute for Paul – she’s replaced one obsession with another.   “Coffee – flat white?   Alcohol’s in the Deri – you should know that.”

The scene in the chip shop flat

Colin returns to the chip shop flat to find candlemaking materials all over the kitchen;  

"Whatever's going on?"

he wonders whatever is going on, 

"It must be Izzy!"

then comes to the conclusion that it must be Izzy.   When Britt and Izzy come back, 

"Your mother reminded me how untidy you can be"

he comments, “Your mother reminded me how untidy you can be!   I don’t want to be clearing up after you after a hard day’s work in the shop.”

It is pointed out to him that there is no point in tidying, as they have not finished yet;  Britt maintains that they have a lot of of work to do.

Izzy announces the name of their enterprise

“Canhwyllau’r Cwm [Valley Candles],” Izzy exclaims, and he says the name does have a ring to it;  Britt assures him that there is not very much mess there.   

"A bit of dinner would be nice, Britt!"

He looks into Britt’s bag, hoping to find something for dinner, but there are only empty jars, which she wants him to wash for her.   “A bit of dinner would be nice after a hard day’s work,” he groans.

"Good luck for tomorrow, Rhys!"

In the Deri, Dani wishes Rhys good luck for tomorrow, and confirms that Garry will be there;  

"He wants to help Gwern play rugby"

“He wants to be more fit to help Gwern play rugby,” she says, 

"I'm sure Garry will get 'Mate's Rates – won't he, Rhys?"

and Jason is sure that Garry will get ‘Mate’s Rates’ at the gym.   

"It's always worth keeping Garry Monk on side"

He advises Rhys that is is always worth keeping Garry Monk on side.

"Just be honest with her, boy!"

Then, seeing Rhys’ downcast expression, Jason urges him, “Just be honest with her!”   

"Mathew wants the ring back before St Dwynwen's Day"

Rhys has no alternative, as Mathew wants the ring back before St Dwynwen’s Day.   “I’m sure Ffion will understand that it was a mistake,” says Jason.

Rhys does not want to disappoint her by not making an announcement, but does not know what to do.   

"What does your father think about this engagement, then?"

Jason wonders what his father thinks about this engagement, and Rhys realises that this is the answer to his problem; 

"You're a genius, Jason!"

“Don’t you see?   We can’t announce our engagement with Dad there tomorrow – I can’t do something so big without talking to him first.   Even Ffion will understand that.”

Jason remarks that from his experience, you cannot bank on anything when there is a woman and a ring involved;  “But there we go – you’re just playing for time!”   

"A temporary way out is better than no way out!"

Rhys maintains that a temporary way out is better than no way out at all.

"Packaging is important, too"

In the chip shop flat, Britt emphasises that the packaging is important too;  and Izzy agrees that people appreciate a bit of effort.   Colin turns on the television, and they show him what they regard as the perfect gift, 

Colin does not show much enthusiam

but he does not sound too sure.

"He's worried it's the bipolar!"

“He’s worried that I’ve gone overboard, and that it’s the bipolar’s fault,” explains Britt, “Don’t worry, because that isn’t what this is – it’s a new hobby – and it will bring in some money.”   

He looks rather lukewarm about it

He does not seem to share their enthusiasm.

"Well done, Jason – now I have to go"

Jason and Rhys are just finishing a game of darts, and Rhys has to go;  he thanks Jason for his help, 

"Half of lager – I deserve it!"

then Kelly comes in for half of lager, which she thinks she deserves.   

"Tapas is more fiddly than I thought"

“No major slip-ups, but Tapas is more fiddly than I thought,” she tells Dani, who anticipates she will get used to it in time.

"It's true what you said about Anita"

Dani tells her, “Listen, what you said about Anita – that Greta has become Paul’s substitute – it’s true, you know – she’s so possessive, calling herself ‘Mam-gu’!”   

"Be careful– she can be a 'tough cookie'!"

Kelly warns Dani to be careful, because Anita can be a ‘tough cookie’.

"Bottle of Sauvignon Blanc, please"

Siôn comes in and asks for a bottle of Sauvignon Blanc, commenting that he has had a hard day.   “Anita had a go at me this morning, didn’t she, Kelly?” says Dani.   Kelly points out that she was just rather possessive of Greta, 

"She's using Greta as a substitute for Paul"

but Dani insists, “She’s using Greta as a substitute for Paul!”

Siôn reminds them that Anita is not here to defend herself, but Dani goes on, “She doesn’t want Tyler to see Greta at all.”   Siôn does not believe that she would do that, as he would not let her.   

"Perhaps you should tell her that!"

“Perhaps you should tell her that!” Dani suggests, but Siôn thinks that they are imagining things.

"How did it go at Tapas?"

Jason asks Kelly how it went at Tapas, 

"It was packed tonight"

and is told that it was packed;  he invites her for a game of darts, 

"Ladies first," which does not go down well with Kelly

and tells her, “Ladies first.”   She makes it clear that she does not believe in that sexist stuff, and instructs him to go first, quoting the saying ‘age before beauty’.

"Refreshment for the workers"

Colin brings refreshments for the workers, as they discuss introducing fruit flavours to their candles, and Izzy suggests they could write on the candles – 

Colin will promote the display in the shop

“Messages of love for St Dwynwen’s Day.”    Colin will help as much as he can, and will make more of a fuss of the display in the shop.

"You never get on my wick!"

“You’re both the light of my life!” he tells them, “You never get on my wick!” 

They groan at Colin's pun

and they both groan.

"I never win at anything like this"

Kelly has demonstrated her unexpected prowess at darts, by beating Jason;  “I never win anything like this,” she exclaims, and he points out that he very rarely loses.   

"I didn't deliberately lose, if that's what you're thinking"

He did not deliberately lose, if that is what she is thinking, and he offers to walk her home, if she wants – as he is passing anyway.

"As you're passing, it would be nice"

“As you’re passing, it would be nice to have a bouncer walking me home!” she replies, and he thought she did not believe in that sexist nonsense.   “I do – when it suits me,” she says, 

"Right – another drink?"

“Right, another drink, as we’re celebrating?   

"One hundred and eighty!"

“One hundred and eighty!”

"Was I too harsh, Kelly?"

Dani is glad that she told Siôn about Anita, but wonders if she was too harsh;  she does not want to spoil things for Tyler.   Kelly points out that she was only sticking up for her brother;  

"I'm not sure who wears the trousers in Y Felin!"

“But I’m not sure who wears the trousers in Y Felin!”   Dani thinks she knows.

Siôn is speaking to the police again . . .

Meanwhile, Siôn is again speaking to the police, thanking them for their help, 

. . . but is very unimpressed with them

but then informs Anita, “They don’t want to know anything about it – 

"Am I the only sensible person in the world?"

“sometimes I wonder whether I’m the only sensible person in the world!   No-one gives a damn about that old oak tree!   

"You don't listen to a word I say!"

“And it’s obvious you don’t,  either – you don’t listen to a word I say!   You’ve got more important things on your mind, according to Dani.”

Anita demands what she has been saying, 

"They say you're overprotective of Greta"

and is told, “She and Kelly said that you’re overprotective of Greta.”   

"Dani wants them to get back together"

She protests that she is just being careful, as Dani just wants Iolo and Tyler to get back together.   Siôn suggests that might possibly be a good thing if it is what they both want, but as she violently disagrees.

"The relationship is never the same again, Siôn"

“Once somebody cheats, the relationship is never the same!” she insists, but he proposes that, with an element of forgiveness, anything is possible.   

"It would be wrong if those two got back together again!"

Anita is adamant, “But Tyler could do exactly the same thing again, knowing that he would get his way!   It would be wrong if those two got back together – and not just for Iolo, but for Greta as well!”

"Greta would like to see them back together"

Siôn maintains that Greta would like to see them back together, but Anita argues, “That little girl needs to know where she stands – 

"A family she can depend on – like her 'Mam-gu'!"

“she needs to be surrounded by a family she can depend on, like her ‘Mam-gu’!”

Siôn is getting worried about her

As Siôn looks very askance to her, she continues, 

"Iolo should have a divorce as soon as possible!"

“That’s why I think Iolo should have a divorce as soon as possible.”   She picks up her glass of wine and goes upstairs.

"We could have some special chanpagne for the announcement!"

At Cysgod y Glyn, Ffion suggests, “Perhaps we should have some special champagne for the announcement,” 

How will Rhys get himself out of this?

but Rhys looks less than enthusiastic.

He leads her to the sofa . . 

Taking a deep breath, he leads her across to the sofa 

. . . and uses his father as an excuse

and begins, “Perhaps tomorrow isn’t the right time to announce our engagement – it would be unfair on Dad.”   

"I knew you would understand"

She deduces that is what is worrying him, and he says he knew that she would understand.

"You're worrying about nothing!"

“What I understand is that you’re worrying about nothing – Hywel won’t mind – it will be a double celebration!” she replies, “You should worry about your speech, but everything else is fine.”   

"Well, that didn't work, did it?"

Rhys smiles unconvincingly.

"I needed a laugh, Jason!"

Kelly and Jason come out of the Deri, and she says that she needed a laugh after a long day;  

"We shall have to have a rematch!"

he demands that they have a rematch some time, and she describes him as a bad loser, which he contests.   “Seriously, if you don’t have anything better to do after your shift, give me a shout,” offers Jason.

Kelly knows that after her next shift, she will be needing sleep, as it will be St Dwynwen’s Day, which he had forgotten.   “Dylan wants me to do something with oysters!” she announces, 

"Staring into each other's eyes and trying to be romantic"

and he predicts that the Deri will be full of people staring into each other’s eyes, and trying to be romantic.

"How about next week – or the week after?"

“Perhaps we should stay away – how about next week, or the week after?” he suggests;  

"Good night!"

they look at each other, and say, “Good night.”   

He watches her go up to the flat

Jason watches Kelly as she goes through the café and up the stairs.
