27 January 2020

Tyler approaches number 7 . . .
Tyler walks to the door of number 7 and bangs on it;  as there is no reply,
. . . but has a surprise
he gets out his key, and then finds to his dismay that it no longer operates the lock.
He knocks on the door . . .
As he can hear a radio playing inside, he repeatedly thumps on the door.
. . . but is ignored by Iolo . . .
Inside the house, Iolo tries to ignore the noise,
. . . who turns up the radio
and turns up the volume on the radio.
"Iolo, this is stupid!"
“Iolo, this is stupid!” shouts Tyler,
Hywel and Gaynor are passing
as Gaynor and Hywel are approaching along the street, and Gaynor cheerfully greets Tyler, but he simply glowers at her.
As they reach the café, Hywel tells her to enjoy herself today;
Tyler gives up and returns to the Deri
Tyler gives up and walks away towards the Deri.
"Come on, Sara, answer the blinkin' phone, will you?"
At Bryntirion, Jason is becoming exasperated;  “Come on, Sara – answer the blinkin’ phone, will you, for heaven’s sake?”   Dai demands if they are going to work this morning,
"Look Dai, 22 calls!"
but Jason exclaims, “Look – 22 calls – she’s punishing me!”
"I didn't sleep a wink"
Then Diane comes downstairs, and Dai urges him to put the phone away;   Diane says she did not sleep a wink, so Dai advises that she ought to lie down for a few hours, after they have gone to work.
"I'll close the shop early, so we can go out!"
“I’ll tell you what – I’ll close the shop early this afternoon, so that we can go out somewhere.   It will do you the world of good – a bit of fresh air to raise your spirits.”
She certainly does not look in the mood for a 'jolly'"
“You think fresh air will make a difference, do you?” she sighs, and Jason encourages her that if ‘Scrooge’ has offered to close the shop so they can go for a little ‘jolly’, she should say yes.   She, however, does not want to go for a ‘jolly’, but Dai pleads with her to think about it.
Jason is still busy texting, and is solemnly warned, “Come on, before you dislocate your thumb!”
"Would you like a cup of tea?"
When they have gone, DJ asks Diane if she would like a cup of tea.
"How about 'Wicks with Kicks'?"
Izzy is at the chip shop flat with ideas for their candle-making business;  “What about ‘Perfumed Tapers’?   Or ‘Wicks with Kicks’?   We’ve got a good good chance of making a tidy business out of these candles – look at the profit we’ve made!”
"That was just good timing"
Britt points out that was just good timing with St Dwynwen’s Day and everything, but Izzy insists they are a good team;
"Creative, entrepreneurial"
“Creative, entrepreneurial – and I’ve got a surprise for you.   You’re not busy this afternoon, are you?”
"I was supposed to meet Lord Sugar"
“Well, I was supposed to meet Lord Sugar, because he wants to use my entrepreneurial skills for a new venture!” Britt replies.
"We're having a spa session"
She is told to cancel it, because they are going to the Glyndwr for a spa session – a treat to say thank you.   “Jacuzzi, sauna and three treatments, as part of the package,” Izzy goes on,
"I haven't had a 'girlie day' for years"
and Britt realises that she has not had a ‘girlie day’ for years;  she would like that ‘hot stones’ thing.   She recalls that she and Izzy’s father had that there when the salon blew up, and is looking forward to it.
"He's changed the locks!"
In the Deri flat, Tyler tells Dani, “He’s changed the locks!” which she does not consider to be very fair, but encourages Tyler not to give up, alleging that Iolo thinks the world of him.
"He used to think the world of me"
“He used to,” Tyler corrects her, “I know I’ve been stupid, but he is wrong about last week.   What am I supposed to do if he won’t let me see Greta?”
"I'm going for a walk"
Dani points out that he is her father too, and has rights;  Tyler will go for walk to clear his head.
Jason is still unable to contact Sara, so will go to confront her
As he and Dai cross the road towards APD, Jason is becoming increasingly angry and leaves another stern message for Sara;  “Hello, Sara, Ifan’s my son as well, you know!”   Then he decides to go to the café flat to confront her, although Dai points out he is supposed to be working.
"My stress levels are through the roof already!"
Hywel is coming along the street, and encourages Dai to calm down;  “Don’t you start – my stress levels are through the roof already!” Dai rages, “Not a day goes by without some crisis!”
"Don't forget you're coaching the under-12s"
He is reminded that he is coaching the under-12s tonight, which starts Dai off again;
"As if I haven't got enough on my plate!"
“As if I haven’t got enough on my plate, I’ve got to coach the under-12s now!   I’m sorry I agreed to do it!   Even the Almighty has a day off from time to time, doesn’t He?”
Sara is doing some much-needed tidying
Sara is frantically tidying up the café flat when Jason arrives;
"I was staring to think you'd emigrated"
“Oh, you are here then – you’re still alive!   I was starting to think you had emigrated!”
She irritably tells him to keep his voice down, as Ifan is having a nap:  “He didn’t sleep last night,” she says, and Jason maintains in that case the doctor ought to be contacted.
"It's hard not to make a fuss when you ignore me all morning!"
“It’s hard not to make a fuss when you ignore me all morning!” he protests,
"I was just about to ring you"
and she says that she was just about to ring him.   He demands some information –
"What does the hospital say?"
whether the hospital has contacted her, and is informed that the tests were all clear.
“And when were you intending to let me know?” he queries, “After you had tidied the entire flat?   I’ve been on tenterhooks all weekend!”
"I have a lot on my mind!"
She snaps that she has had a lot on her mind, so he apologises for worrying about his son.
"If you'd worried about him more in the park . . ."
“If you’d worried more about him in the park, none of this would have happened!” Sara snarls, “That would not have happened to me – Ifan is my priority – every time!”
"And was he your priority when you went to Thailand?"
Jason counters with, “And was he your priority when you decided to go on holiday to Thailand at a day’s notice?”
"Do you really want to start a competition?"
She demands if he really wants to start a competition about their faults;  “Because I know who would win!” she shouts.
Then Ifan cries
As Jason leaves, Ifan begins to cry.
Iolo stirs his tea
Iolo sits at home, absent-mindedly stirring his tea;
This time it is Dani at the door
he hears a knock at the door, which is this time accompanied by the sound of Dani’s voice, so he opens it.
"Look, if Tyler sent you here . . ."
“Look, if Tyler sent you here,” he begins, but she replies that Tyler does not know she is there, and is worried about the two of them;
"You can't carry on like this, Iolo"
she maintains that they cannot carry on like this.
"That's why I'm making arrangements"
“That’s why I’m making arrangements – to make things clear – like the divorce,” Iolo points out.
"You don't really mean that"
“You don’t really mean that,” Dani goes on, “I know you’re breaking your heart – and I know Tyler’s been a real idiot – I understand you’re angry.   I’ve been there – but it’s not fair on Tyler or Greta if you stop them seeing each other.”
"He had his chance, and he lied"
Iolo makes it quite clear,  “Tyler had his chance, all right, and he lied, Dan.”   Dani answers that Tyler had no intention of seeing Aled, but just happened to see him and felt sorry for him.
"You saw Aled's face – he had a right hiding!"
“You saw Aled’s face – he had a right hiding!”
"Look, I know you want to help Tyler"
Iolo appreciates that she wants to help Tyler, and she argues that there is nothing going on between Tyler and Aled;
"He promised me – on Greta's life"
“He promised me, on Greta’s life – he wouldn’t do that if it wasn’t true.   He’s breaking his heart over her!”
"We shall come to a formal arrangement"
Iolo predicts they will come to a formal arrangement, but then Anita walks in, saying that she is trying the new key.
"Trying to get Iolo to forgive that brother of yours, are you?"
“What’s this, then?” she asks, “You’re trying to get Iolo to forgive that brother of yours, are you?   Can I have Alys the bear, please, Iolo?   Greta is asking for her.   I left her playing with Siôn – they’re playing house.”
Iolo hands over Alys the bear
As she is about to leave, Anita informs Dani, “Iolo’s not going to change his mind, you know – because it’s obvious to everyone that he’d be happier without a liar like Tyler in his life.
"Someone on the Sex Offenders list?"
“Do you really think Iolo wants to share his and Greta’s lives with someone who’s on the Sex Offenders list?”
"You're behind this divorce business!"
Dani comes to the conclusion that Anita is behind this divorce business;  “You want Tyler and Iolo to finish so you can have Greta!”   As the bickering continues, Iolo tries to get them to stop, but with no success.
"Her family are all the same!"
“I’ve told you, haven’t I, Iolo, her family are all the same – Moc, Gethin – you can’t trust any of them!”
"I could hear you shouting from out in the street"
At that point Tyler comes in through the open door, and remarks that he could hear Anita shouting from out in the street.
"Right – all of you – get out and give me some peace!"
This is too much for Iolo, who loudly demands that they all go, and give him some peace.
"What the hell are you doing here?"
Tyler does not go, and Iolo demands, “What the hell are you doing here?
"I don't want you here!"
“I don’t want you here!”   Tyler sadly turns and leaves the house,
Aled is hanging around again . . .
but as he is walking along the street towards APD, Aled appears again, ignoring Tyler’s warning that he was to stay away.
. . . and Iolo catches them together once more
“What’s wrong?” Aled asks, and as Tyler snarls at him to leave him alone, Iolo emerges from number 7.
“Oh yeah – nothing’s going on, is it?” says Iolo, and is once more told that he has misunderstood;  “I’ve misunderstood a lot of things lately!” Iolo replies,
"Good news – Tyler and I are getting divorced!"
 “Hey, Aled – good news – Tyler and I are getting divorced – you deserve each other!”
Iolo barges past them
He barges past them and continues along the street.
Izzy and Britt arrive at the Glyndwr
Having arrived at the Glyndwr, Izzy and Britt are handed their towels and locker keys;  they seem quite excited.
"You could go to the Botanic Gardens"
At Bryntirion, DJ, who is doing the ironing, suggests that Dai and Diane could visit the Botanic Gardens;  “In January?” answers Diane, but he says there are things on there throughout the year.
“Listen to Alan Titchmarsh here!” scoffs Dai,
"How about going to the pictures?"
and has the idea of going to the pictures.   However, there is nothing on which Diane fancies, so he proposes walking by the sea at the Gower, but she moans that it is too cold.
"I've closed the shop now"
“Diane, I’ve closed the shop now, and you don’t want to go anywhere!” he groans,
Jason comes back to Bryntirion
as Jason comes in through the door.
"Have you heard from the hospital?"
“All right, Jase?” DJ greets him, “Have you heard from the hospital?   Is Ifan all right?”
"What's this about Ifan?"
This is the first that Diane has heard about Ifan’s misadventure, but Dai assures her that he is not in hospital,
"He had an accident in the park – with a needle"
and Jason is forced to explain that he had an accident in the park with a needle.
Dai emphasises that it is nothing for her to get upset about,
Diane hurries out of the hosue
but she rushes out of the house;
"You and your size 12s!"
Dai growls at DJ, “You and your size 12s!”   He also insists that Jason is not much better.
"This is a real tonic . . ."
In the spa, Izzy and Britt are relaxing, and describing it as a real tonic;  “You know your stuff – choosing a time when there’s no-one else here,” Britt says,
". . . it's like having your own private spa!"
“It’s like having your own private spa!”
Then Gaynor joins them
However their privacy is shattered when someone else comes in – none other than Gaynor;
"Typical – Mam's got the knack of spoiling everyone's fun!"
“Typical – Mam’s got a knack of spoiling everyone’s fun!” Izzy groans, “Why aren’t you at work?”
Her mother answers that she finished early after working through her lunch hour;
"Hywel was kind enough to buy me this treat"
“Hywel was kind enough to buy me this treat,” and Britt invites her into the spa,
"There's plenty of room, Gaynor"
as there is plenty of room, but Izzy is less welcoming.
That Aled will not keep away
Tyler is alone in the Deri flat when Aled comes creeping in;
"You can't come up here!"
he is told that he cannot come up there, but urges Tyler to calm down.
"It's all right – no-one saw me"
“I was worried – nobody knows I’m here – I slipped upstairs when no one was looking,” he says.
Once again Tyler reminds him, “You’ve been told to stop following me!
"Stop talking to me – and just go, now!"
“Stop talking to me – and just go, now!” but Aled will not listen to him, stressing that he just wants to help.   Tyler is rapidly losing patience;
"I'm giving you one minute to leave!"
“I’m giving you one minute to leave – I’ve lost everything – my husband, my home – and now I might have lost my little girl as well!”
Aled doubts that Iolo can do that, but Tyler shouts, “I don’t know!   Please, just get out of here!”
"I'll do anything I can to help"
Aled shows no sign of leaving, but instead maintains that he will do anything to help,
"What's he doing here?"
and as he moves closer to Tyler, Dani appears in the doorway.
“What’s he doing here?” she demands, “You’re not welcome here!”
"What is going on, Tyler?"
Without another word, Aled turns and leaves the flat, as Dani enquires what is going on.
"No – I don't want to know!"
“No, actually, don’t tell me – I don’t want to know!” she continues, “I begged Iolo – I was trying to save your marriage because I believed you – and then I walk in, and Aled is here!
"Sort your head out!"
“Sort your head out!   Don’t you dare ask me for my help until you decide what you want – do you understand?”
"A good partnership makes a successful business"
As they lie side-by-side on the loungers, Izzy says, “A good partnership – that’s what makes a successful business, and Britt and I understand each other, don’t we, Britt?”
"We have had a lot of fun"
Britt agrees that they have had a lot of fun, and I are enjoying this little treat.
“We’re thinking of starting a business together,” Izzy continues, and asks her mother why she received this treat today;  “St Dwynwen’s Day was on Saturday.”
"A late St Dwynwen's Day present"
Her mother explains that this is a late St Dwynwen’s Day present,
"He forgot on the day, did he?"
and Izzy sneers, “He forgot on the day, did he?”
"We had a very romantic weekend"
Gaynor replies that they had a very romantic weekend, if she must know;  “Hywel made me breakfast in bed.”   Izzy has had enough, and suggests to Britt that they find the woman with the hot stones.   Gaynor has a facial in ten minutes.
The Ashursts' car arrives in the village . . .
The Ashursts’ car arrives in the village,
. . . and it is being driven by Diane
and we see that Diane is behind the wheel;
Along the High Street . . .
as she turns into the High Street, she slows, and when she reaches the point outside APD where the accident occurred,
. . . the accident comes back to her . . .
he suddenly has a panic attack.   She stops the car abruptly,
. . . and she panics . . .
and it all comes back to her;
. . . getting out of the car in a terrible state
Diane hurriedly gets out of the car and is finding it difficult to breathe.
Gaynor is moaning again
Back at Llwyncelyn, Gaynor is complaining to Hywel, “Why does Izzy feels she has to rub my nose in her friendship with Britt?   She definitely did – I know her –
"She has never taken me to a spa!"
“and she’s never offered to take me for an afternoon at any spa!
"Am I that terrible a mother?"
“Am I that terrible a mother?”
Hywel adopts calming tactics
Hywel attempts to calm her.
Dai is looking for Diane . . .
Dai is wandering round the village, looking for Diane, and phoning people to ask if they know where she is;
. . . then he discovers . . .
then he hears the sound of car horns,
. . . gridlock in Cwmderi
and finds the abandoned car in the middle of the road.
"All right – I'll move it now"
“All right, OK, I’ll move it now!” he shouts, “Move back and give me some room – have some sense – good grief!”
Diane can be heard, sobbing piteously
Inside APD the sound of sobbing can be heard, and when Dai comes in,
"What are you doing here, love?"
he discovers Diane sitting there, in floods of tears;  “What are you doing here, love?” he says,
"I have to leave Cwmderi – I can't cope!"
and as she trembles uncontrollably, she insists that she has to leave Cwmderi, as she cannot cope here.
"We'll go on a little holday"
“This is what we’ll do, OK?   We’ll go on a little holiday, shall we?” Dai suggests, “I’ll find us a little winter break in the sun – or what about a cruise in the Caribbean?   We deserve it – we work hard enough – and you can’t take it with you, as they say – a nice break for you.”
"I want to be on my own"
Diane declares that she does not want a holiday;  “I want to be on my own – leave me alone,”
She lets herself out of the back door . . .
and she walks out through the back door of the shop,
. . . and Dai is bemused
leaving Dai in a state of bemusement.
