Kelly is run off her feet in the café
Kelly is very busy in the café;  she tells Debbie that Gwen is ill, and she needs to go to the bank.   “I remember those days,” Debbie replies,
"It's the third time this month!"
“Don’t tell me – Gwen’s got a headache!” and Kelly complains that it is the third time in a month.
"I'll look after the place for you"
“I’ll look after the place if you want to go to the bank,” offers Debbie, “I’m used to it, and I’m not doing anything else.”   Kelly is very pleased to hear this, and Debbie maintains it will be nice to do something useful for once.
"You're a life-saver, Debs"
“You’re a life-saver – pinnies in the kitchen, right?” Kelly says.
Guto is still off his food
At number 10, Brenda tries to get Guto to eat something,
"Your mother is strong, Guto"
and Dylan encourages him that his mother is strong;  then Gerwyn returns from hospital, and they eagerly await his news.
"She's looking a bit better – things are going in the right direction"
“She’s looking a bit better – there’s more colour in her cheeks,” he reports, “She hasn’t said anything yet, but it’s just a matter of time.   The doctors say that things are going in the right direction.”
"I said she'll be OK, Dad!"
Guto is much more optimistic after hearing this;  “I said she’ll be OK!” he tells his father,
Dylan thinks the floor will need strengthening
and Brenda considers that if Jaclyn is getting better, they will have to sort out the house, as she cannot come home to this mess.
She will try and get other local people to help, and Dylan suspects that the floor under the bath might have to be strengthened;  she will text Jim to come and take a look,
Dylan always has plenty of money
and Dylan hands her a wad of notes to pay for it.
Mark calls in to get an update
Mark comes in, having seen the car outside, and asks how things are;  “Well, small steps, you know – yes, I think she’s getting better,” Gerwyn answers,
"Mark, can you help with sorting out the house?"
and Brenda wonders if Mark will help with sorting out the house, as they do not want Jac coming home to this mess.   He says he has almost finished his shift, and has nothing else on today.   Gerwyn is eager to get back to the hospital, because he has left Tesni there and he does not want to be away for too long.
"I hope it's not dangerous!"
At Penrhewl, Eileen receives a text from Jim;  “He’s helping with some work at the Parry’s house – I hope it’s not dangerous!”   Sioned says it is not likely to be, in a house, but her mother is also concerned about him driving the car.
"I worry every time he drives the car"
“I worry every time he drives it, after what happened with Jaclyn.”
"He'll have to give up driving before long"
Sioned predicts that he will have to give up driving before long, and then will not be able to help around the farm as much;
"I've decided to learn how to tow a trailer"
“I’ve decided to learn how to tow a trailer – for the 4x4 or the tractor,” she announces, “Then we won’t have to worry when Jim can’t do it.”   She has it all worked out, and there has been a test cancellation next week, so she is taking that appointment.
"You haven't started learning yet, Sioned"
Eileen points out that she has not started learning yet,
"It can't be that difficult – men can do it!"
but Sioned assures her, “I’ll be fine!   It can’t be that difficult – men can do it!”
Debbie is running the café like a professional
When Kelly returns to the café, Debbie is coping well with the large number of customers and reports that everything is fine;  Kelly is very grateful.
"Dylan wants me to help with the house"
Sara tells her that Dylan wants her to help to fix up Gerwyn’s and Jaclyn’s house;  “Everyone’s helping, apparently – but I still haven’t found a place to live,” she complains, “There are places, but they are miles away,
Sara now thinks of Jason as the babysitter
“and I don’t want to move too far away from Jason, or it will be hard for him to babysit.”   At the mention of Jason, Kelly’s expression changes.
"Oh, no!   The chef has been rushed to hospital!"
Then Sara receives a text message, advising that the chef at Tapas has been rushed to hospital;  “Food poisoning?” asks Kelly, but is told that it is appendicitis.   Sara is sure there is a conspiracy to make her life more difficult;
"I don't know how much more I can take!"
she does not know how much more she can take, and rushes off to Tapas.
"I'll be over to see Brenda in ten minutes"
As she goes out of the door, Jim says that he will be over to see Brenda in ten minutes.
"You don't often see her frazzled!"
By the counter, Debbie comments, “You don’t often see her frazzled!”
Kelly points so that she has a lot on her mind;  “And I should really help!”
"How about a free coffee, Kelly?"
but Debbie says she has enough to do, and offers Kelly a free coffee.
"Tell him to stop phoning during work hours!"
At APD, Mathew is on the phone to someone, and Dai moans, “If that’s Rhys Llywelyn, tell him to stop phoning here during work hours!”
"Lumberjack of all trades!"
Then Dai notices Mark, looking at lengths of timber;  “There he is – lumberjack of all trades!   What are you today?   Florist, baker, vet?”
"Plumber today, is it?"
Mark reveals that he is helping out at number 10, where they want to sort out the water damage before Jaclyn comes home, so Dai assumes that he is a plumber today.
"The floor under the bath is spongy"
“The floor under the bath is spongy,” explains Mark, and Dai instructs Mathew to go over to the house,
Mathew is despatched to look at the job
and see exactly what needs to be done, then come back to let him know.
“Tell them they can have everything for free,” he says, in an uncharacteristically generous gesture.
Thre thought of meeting Tesni puts him off
Mathew is not keen to go there, but Dai insists, “I don’t keep a dog and bark myself!”   Mathew is worried about coming face to face with Tesni,
"She's at the hospital"
but his fears are allayed by Mark, who says that Tesni is at the hospital.
Kath says that Mark is much better off without Debbie
Kath is at Penrhewl, and Eileen asks her how Mark is coping;  Kath gives the impression that he is less stressed, more relaxed, and a lot less worried.
"How are things going at the moment, Eifion?"
Eifion has just come in, and Sioned asks him how everything is going;  “I just wondered what you’ve got on at the moment,” she says.
"I'm running the farm – that's what's going on"
He answers that he is running the farm – that is what is going on – and he stresses that he is not slacking.
"You can teach me how to tow a trailer"
“I was just thinking, if you’ve got some spare time this afternoon, you can teach me how to tow a trailer,” she suggests, “I’ve got a test next week, and I need a crash course.”
"You'll tip it over before getting to the other side of the yard!"
He is of the opinion that she will have tipped tipped it over before getting to the other side of the yard.
"Saying that because she's a woman, are you?"
Kath takes exception to this;  “You’re saying that because she’s a woman, are you?” but he answers that not everyone can tow a trailer – it is not as easy as it looks.
"That's why I need a professional to teach me"
“That’s why I need a professional to teach me how to do it,” Sioned tells him, but he wonders why she wants to do it;  she comes up with the idea that she has made a New Year’s resolution to learn something – a new skill every month.   “And I’m a farm girl, so it makes sense, doesn’t it?   I’m going to do it, whatever you say!   So will you help me, or do I have to pay someone to help me?”
"I enjoy a laugh!"
He agrees, remarking that he enjoys a laugh.
Debbie calls to Mark
As Mark leaves APD, Debbie calls to him from the café, and asks how he is;  she says she is helping out in the café today, but is enjoying it.   “It’s nice to have something to do.
"I'm staying with Iori – it's better than a bedsit"
“I’m still staying with Iori – it’s not Maes-y-Deri, but it’s better than a bedsit.”   He does not like to think of her being on her own.
"I've got loads to do across the road"
“There’s loads to do over the road, so I’ll see you later,” he says,
"You were good together, Debs"
and Kelly comes out of the café, pointing out to Debbie that they were good together.
"I've done a lot of stupid things"
Debbie confirms that she misses him, but doubts that there is any chance of their getting back together, groaning that she has done a lot of stupid things.
"Everyone does stupid things, Debs"
“Everyone does stupid things, Debs,” Kelly comments, “Nobody’s perfect!”   Debbie says that the worst thing is that she has lost her best friend, so Kelly volunteers to be her friend, and Debbie laughs that she is everyone's friend.
Guto records the workers in action
The work at number 10 is in full swing, and Guto records the workers in action for his mother;
Dylan stuffs the bill into his pocket
Sara brings the post from Tapas and Dylan finds that there is a red electricity bill, which he will pay.   He moans that they have still not found anywhere to live,
"Your family is your priority"
but she points out that his family is his priority.
"We can stay with Kelly until we find somewhere!"
Then Sara is delighted to receive a message from Kelly; “She says Ifan and I can stay with her until we find somewhere!”
Eifion fears for the trailer
Sioned is in the process of reversing the trailer in the farmyard, but Eifion shouts at her to stop;
"You're the one behind the wheel, Sioned!"
she blames him, but he points out she is behind the wheel.
"You almost drove into that post!"
“You almost drove into that post – you do know how to drive a car, don’t you?” he snarls.
Eileen tries to calm things down
Eileen witnesses this altercation, and Sioned continues to insist that she should be able to do it by now, but Eifion is hopeless.
Eileen tries to placate matters, but Eifion rages, “I don’t know why you’re bothering!   Right, I’d better straighten it up – so we can carry on!”
"The bedroom's not amazing"
Sara arrives at the café flat, full of gratitude to Kelly;  “What can I say, apart from thanks for saving me?”   Kelly points out that the bedroom is not amazing, and is still baby blue – also the dado is a bit cartoony, but Ifan will like it.
"Are you OK with us being in Paul's bedroom?"
“Are you OK with us being in Paul’s bedroom?” Sara asks, but it is explained that it is not a shrine, and he has not died;
"I just want to help, Sara"
Kelly just wants to help,
"We'll be out as soon as possible"
but Sara assures her that they will be out as soon as possible,
She gives Kelly a hug
and gives Kelly a hug.
"Why are you doing that over here?"
Kath wonders why the workers are cutting timber by the alley,
"There's no room outside the house"
and Mark replies, “There’s no room to saw it outside the house.”   Guto is optimistic that his mother will soon be out of hospital.
Then Kath notices that Debbie is in the café, and Mark explains that she is helping Kelly out.
"I don't want to see her drag you back in, Mark!"
Kath is offended that he has been talking to her;  “I don’t want to see her drag you back in – do you understand?”
"There's no need to worry about me, Mam"
He emphasises that there is no need to be worried about him.
Sioned's technique has improved tremendously
After some more practice, Sioned has backed the trailer into the barn, and is very pleased with her efforts;
"That's not bad, Sioned"
“Look at that, then!” and Eifion describes it as not bad.
"She wants to get a trailer licence for some reason"
Eileen has watched the improvement, and Eifion tells Jim that Sioned wants to get a trailer licence, for some reason.   She repeats the story about the New Year’s resolution,
"I thought it would be French or flower arranging"
but Jim considers that French or flower arranging would be more her style.
"Are you saying women can't pull trailers?"
“Are you saying women can’t pull trailers?” demands Sioned, but Jim cannot understand why she would want to;  Eileen maintains that it does not matter, but she is doing very well, and Sioned seems keen to learn new skills.
Jim has his suspicions
Jim looks suspiciously at Eileen, and reports that the work at number 10 is going well.
At number 10, Mathew says that it will look lovely when it is finished, and enquires how the family is coping;
Mathew is concerned about Tesni
he is particularly interested in Tesni,
"She could do with a cwtch – pity she's not here to see you"
and Brenda says, “She could do with a cwtch – it’s a pity she isn’t here to see you.”   Mathew is glad she is not there, after the way he behaved, and imagines that she never wants to see him again.
"Could you pass on a message that I'm thinking about her?"
Brenda does not agree with that, and he asks her to pass on a message to Tesni that he is thinking about her.   She considers that would be better coming from him, but he does not want to upset her.
"Better still, write a note to her"
“Why don’t you write a note to her?   Tell her you’re here if she needs you – it’s up to her then.”   She hands him some paper, and he thinks that it is a good idea.
Kelly brings food from the café . . .
Kelly arrives with some food for the workers, and Dylan thanks her for giving Sara and Ifan a home.
. . . and reports to Dai that they are winning at number 10
Dai comes into the café and asks Kelly how things are at number 10;  “I think they’re winning,” she replies.
"Can I have tea and a muffin, please, Kelly?"
He wants a cup of tea and a muffin, but then Debbie is concerned to see the arrival of Kath.
"I wanted to thank you for your text at Christmas"
“I just wanted a word, that’s all,” she says, “I wanted to thank you for your text over Christmas – fair play to you.   I’m glad I went home to him – how are you, then?”
"I miss Maes-y-Deri – and Mark"
Debbie replies that she misses Maes-y-Deri – and Mark, but Kath stresses that Mark is all right, and he is happy;
"Understand what I'm saying?"
“Understand what I’m saying?”
"Yes – that he's better off without me!"
Debbie gets the message that Mark is better off without her, and Kath is pleased that she has understood.
Kelly has heard this
Kelly has been listening to this,
"Don't let Kath Jones dictate your relationship"
and advises, “Don’t let Kath Jones dictate your relationship!” but Debbie thinks she is right.   “Do you still love him?” Kelly demands, and she answers that she does –
"That's the reason I have to stay away"
that is the reason she has to stay away.
"You're a good worker – do you want a job?"
“You’ve been a massive help today – you’re a good worker, and we get on well, don’t we?   Do you want a job?”   Debbie would love to work there, and is told,
"Take these to Bob the Builder over there!"
“Take these to Bob the builder over there!”
"Thanks – that looks nice!"
who is most appreciative.
"You've betrayed me, Eileen!"
At Penrhewl, Jim is angry;  “You’ve betrayed me!” he growls, “I don’t want people to treat me differently!   To feel sorry for me!
"If I can't depend on you to keep the secret . . ."
“If I can’t depend on you to keep the secret . . .”
"It wasn't just anyone – it was Sioned!'
Eileen demands, “And who am I supposed to depend on, Jim?”   He maintains that she should have talked to him before telling anyone, but she insists that it was not just anyone;  “It was Sioned!”
"I don't want anyone to know"
“I don’t want anyone to know!” he rages,
Whether by accident or design, the teapot lid comes off
banging the table so hard that it dislodges the teapot lid.
"Don't you shout at Mam!"
Hearing the noise, Sioned rushes in, demanding what it is all about, and warning Jim not to shout at her mother.
"He knows that you know, Sioned"
Eileen reveals, “He knows that you know.”
"It means I can help you – and Mam!"
Sioned points out that all it means is that she can help him and help Mam.
"You're like a father to me, Jim"
She emphasises that he is like a father to her and that she just wants to help;  “This is our family’s secret – and I promise, on Huwi’s life, that I won’t say a word to anyone!”
"Do you promise not to scratch the new car?"
Jim, who appears to have now calmed down, enquires, “Do you promise not to scratch the new car with the trailer?”
She puts a reassuring hand on his shoulder
Sioned agrees that she will try her best, and puts a hand on his shoulder.
"I can't believe all the work you've done for us today!"
In the Deri the workers are having a well-earned drink when Gerwyn comes in;  “I’ve just been home, and I can’t believe all the work you’ve done for us today – I can’t thank you enough!”
They seem to have enjoyed doing it
They all say that they have enjoyed it, and Mathew was glad to have a break from Dai.
"Thanks from the bottom of my heart"!
Gerwyn is very grateful to them,
Dylan fears what may happen when she wakes
and is sure that Jaclyn said his name earlier at the hospital.   He predicts that she will love the work they have done, and is invited to join them for a drink, for which Dylan offers to pay,
"No, I'm paying for this, Dylan"
but Gerwyn insists he will foot the bill.
"Things are getting better, Mam-gu!"
Guto now thinks things are improving.
