Things are rather fraught at Cysgod y Glyn
The atmosphere at Cysgod y Glyn is frosty this morning, and Rhys announces he is leaving for the gym;  Ffion is busy with some school work.
"Ffi, we can't carry on like this!"
He pleads, “Ffi, we can’t carry on like this – you’ve been in a mood for a week!”
She replies that she has a lot of work to do, and in any case, there is not much to say;
"You made your feelings clear – you never wanted to marry me!"
“You’ve made your feelings clear – you don’t want to marry me – you never wanted to marry me – and I’ve made an epic fool of myself!   Go, or you will be late for the gym – which is a lot more important to you than me!”
He leaves for the gym . . .
When he goes,
. . . and Ffion is exasperated
she feels very peeved.
"It's like a hand grenade!"
Guto taps the top of his boiled egg, and tells his grandmother, “It’s like a hand grenade – you could hijack a plane with it!”
"It's better than the scrambled eggs yesterday!"
Tesni points out that it is better than the scrambled eggs yesterday, and he says he wondered what that was.
"Well, have a bit of (burnt) toast, then
“Well, have a bit of toast, then,” his grandmother suggests, “You’re lucky I’m cooking for you at all!” but Guto is not happy with the burnt condition of the toast.
"He wanted to be there when your mother woke up"
Their father left early this morning, as he wanted to be at the hospital when their mother woke up.   “I think he’s trying to get Jac to forgive Dylan for the falling out over Tapas, now that she’s getting better,” says Brenda.   Guto comments that they have been acting like children.   Brenda recalls all that Dylan has done for them,
"That Christmas hamper was 'lush'!"
and Tesni agrees that the Christmas hamper was ‘lush’.
Dylan arrives, but forgoes Brenda's cooking
At that moment Dylan comes into the house, and refuses one of Brenda’s breakfasts, having experienced them before, but will have a coffee.   Tesni leaves for school, and Brenda asks if Dylan is sure that he does not fancy bacon and eggs, or a sausage.
"Just a coffee, please"
Guto shows his rather overdone toast, and Dylan thinks it wise to settle for just a coffee.
"Serviettes and toothpicks"
In the shop flat, Kelly advises Sara that Tapas needs more serviettes and toothpicks.   “I dont know what we would have done if you hadn’t stepped in to help at Tapas,” says Sara, “Especially with Dylan the way he is.”
Kelly replies that it keeps her busy, and that Dylan is probably still worried about Jaclyn,
"I can't help thinking there's more to it"
but Sara goes on, “She’s out of danger now, but he’s still acting really oddly – I can’t help but think there’s more to it.”
"Man stress – it's worse than man flu!"
Kelly explains, “Man stress – it’s worse than man flu!”   Whatever it is, Sara is finding it really hard work –
"How did I fall for someone so useless?"
but nevertheless she insists that he is more dependable than Jason.   She wonders how she fell for someone so useless, while Kelly does not exactly share her opinion.
"Why don't we arrange a party?"
I’ve been thinking,” begins Kelly, “Now that Ifan has had the all clear, why don’t we arrange a party to lift everybody’s spirits?” and Sara thinks that is a good idea.
"We could do it on Thursday afternoon"
They could do it on Thursday afternoon, and Sara wonders if she has to invite Jason;  “I really don’t want to see him after what he said yesterday!”
Kelly is insistent that Jason must be there
Kelly emphasises that she has to to invite him, and that it will be a chance for them to be in the same space and be civil with each other.
"Yes, all right, then"
Sara reluctantly agrees.
“Leave the arrangements to me,” Kelly says, and then rather randomly adds, “Pomegranate Molasses!”
"For Tapas, silly!
When Sara looks mystified, Kelly adds,  “For Tapas, silly!”
She does not look as if she is a satisfied client
In Rhys’ gym, several villagers are training hard, including one who definitely does not appear to be enjoying it.
"There's something wrong with this programme!"
Gwyneth complains about her training programme;  “Bench pressing 50kg is a bit much for me, considering I’ve had a heart attack!”
"Hang on – this is not yours!"
He looks at the document in question and realises that it is not her programme, although her name is at the top.
"There's something wrong with the software"
He comes to the conclusion that something is wrong with the software;  “I’ve just tried to save Sioned’s programme and it won’t do it!”
"Do your usual aerobic stuff"
He tells her to go and do her usual aerobic stuff, and he will sort out the problem,
"I paid good money for this membership!"
but she reminds him, “I’ve paid good money for membership – I could have got injured – or worse!   You’d better sort it out – and quickly!”   Rhys is in rather a quandary.
"She was so glad I was there"
Gerwyn returns home from the hospital;  it appears that redecoration has begun at number 10.   He tells Dylan, “That was a good morning – Jaclyn was feeling better again, and she was so glad I was there when she woke up – it was worth getting up at six o’clock!   She is as good as new – well, almost.
"Jaclyn wants to see you today!"
“I’ve got good news for you as well, Dylan – she’s changed her mind and wants to see you – today.”
He does not look too happy about this
Dylan finds this rather concerning.
Rhys will create new programmes for them
In the gym, Rhys explains to the disgruntled clients, “I’m really sorry – I don’t know how this has happened.   The best thing I can do is to create new programmes for you.”
"You do know what you're doing, don't you?"
Gwyneth maintains that this is more than a ‘glitch’;  “You do know what you’re doing, don’t you?   You have a licence or a certificate to prove you can train people?”
"Its the software's fault"
He points to the certificate displayed on the wall, and blames the software for the problem, but Gwyneth continues, “You wouldn’t be this flippant if I left here in an ambulance!”
"How about free membership for a month?"
He offers them all free membership for a month, but Gwyneth would rather wait until he sorts out his software;
"I'd like to make it to 50!"
“I’m a single mother with a son who depends on me – and I’d like to make it to 50!”   She walks out.
"I'm starving – are you coming to the cafĂ©?"
Gerwyn says that he is starving, and wants Dylan to come with him to the cafĂ©;  Dylan jumps at the chance, but Brenda reminds him that he said he had already eaten, and he answers, “A cappuccino will give me a boost –
"You've done enough – you deserve a rest!"
“you’ve done enough, Brenda, you deserve a rest.”
"Clever – the way you got out of eating Mam's breakfast"
As they leave the house, Gerwyn admires the way that Dylan handled his mother and got out of eating her breakfast;  “She tries her best, but she’s a disaster in the kitchen!
"I'm amazed she didn't poison me as a child!"
“I’m amazed she didn’t poison me as a child!”
"You know I'm not your biggest fan"
He stops by the shop and continues, “Listen, Dylan, you know I’m not your biggest fan – it’s Jaclyn that’s important to me – do you understand?
"If she wants to put all this behind her . . ."
“So if she wants to put all this nonsense behind her, I’m not going to stand in the way.”   He is glad this is sorted out.
"How are you going to cope when Jac comes home?"
As they cross the road to the cafĂ©, Dylan asks, “Have you thought how you’re going to cope when Jaclyn comes home?   Don’t you think she deserves a good rest – you know, a private hospital, so she can have the right care to recover properly?”
Gerwyn knows that those places charge a fortune,
"Can't put a price on someone's health"
but Dylan offers to pay;  “You can’t put a price on someone’s health, can you?”
Gerwyn notices Hywel across the road
Gwyneth comes out of her front door and sees Hywel;  “You’re not on your way over to the gym, are you?,” she enquires,
"I think Rhys could do with some help"
“I think Rhys could do with some help – something to do with his computer – if I were you, I’d pop over there – otherwise half the village will have slipped discs, hernias – or muscles like Arnold Swartzenegger!”   He follows her suggestion.
"It's a bit quite in here!"
When he enters the gym, he finds it very quiet, and Rhys admits that he has had to close,
"This software isn't working"
but initially maintains that he is sorting the matter out;  then he asks for his father’s help.  “This software isn’t working – do you think you could have a look at it?   Everyone’s programmes are mixed up – none of them are right.
"If I knew what was wrong, I could fix it!"
If I knew what was wrong, I could fix it!”
Hywel will bring his expertise to bear on the problem
Hywel will give it some attention.
Gerwyn and Dylan arrive at the hospital
Gerwyn and Dylan arrived at the hospital,
The sight of a police uniform spooks Dylan
and the sight of a police uniform in Jaclyn’s room causes Dylan some fright;  “What are the pigs doing here?” he demands, and Gerwyn presumes that they are asking her about the accident.
"Hey, what are you doing?"
Dylan walks away, but is asked what he is doing, and he comes up with the ridiculous excuse that he wants a coffee.
“You’ve just had one – what’s wrong with you?” Gerwyn snarls,
"Haven't you paid your VAT or something?"
“Haven’t you paid your VAT or something?”   Two officers come out of the room, and Dylan is steeling himself,
The officers walk right past him . . .
but they walk straight past him,
. . . and he breathes a sigh of relief
which comes as somewhat of a relief.
Jaclyn is watching him
Jaclyn can see him and his reactions through the glass.
Gwen serves Brenda in the cafĂ©
Gwen serves Brenda with a box of cakes;  “Thank you, I’m starving – I need sugar to keep me going,” says Brenda, “There’s so much to do, with Jac being ill.”
"She's getting better"
She tells Gwyneth, who is sitting nearby, that Jaclyn is getting better, and then Hywel comes in.
"Two coffees to go, please"
“Hiya, Gwen – two coffees to go, and soya milk in Rhys’ one, please,” he says.
"I hope you've sorted Rhys out!"
Gwyneth hopes that he has sorted Rhys out,
"It was only a technical glitch"
and he replies that it was just a technical glitch, and things will soon be back to normal.
Ffion is also listening to this, as Gwyneth argues that she could have done some permanent damage earlier.
"He just had to close the gym for an hour"
Ffion wants to know what is going on, and is told by Hywel that Rhys had to close the gym for an hour while they sort out a problem with the software;  “He looked very stressed –
"You don't look too special, either"
“I hope you don’t mind me saying, but you don’t look too special either.”
"Everything is fine, Hywel"
She answers that everything is fine,
"Thank you, Gwen"
then Gwen hands him his coffees and he leaves, with Ffion looking puzzled.
"I don't want your money"
In the hospital room, Gerwyn says, “I told you, didn’t I?” as Jaclyn insists she does not want Dylan’s money paying for her care.
"All I want is Ger looking after me"
“I don’t want some posh hospital either – all I want is Ger here, looking after me.”   He cannot wait for her to come home.   She asks, “Can you do me a favour – can you give us 10 minutes, so I can have a chat with Dyl?”
Gerwyn leaves them to have a chat
and Gerwyn leaves the room,
"Don't be too hard on him – he's quite delicate"
requesting that she is not too hard on him, as he is quite delicate, under all the muscles.
"What were the pigs doing here?"
“What were the pigs doing here?” Dylan wants to know,
"Gerwyn thinks it's about the argument at Tapas"
and she explains that Gerwyn thinks the problem is the argument they had at Tapas,
"What did you say to the police?"
but he still demands what she said.
"Trying to bribe me, are you?"
“What’s all this fuss about a private hospital?” she demands, “Trying to bribe me, are you?   You’re not capable of thinking about anyone but yourself!”
"What did you tell the police, Jaclyn?"
He is still desperate to know what she told the police,
A nurse comes to check Jaclnys temperature
but at that moment a nurse comes in to check her temperature;  Dylan looks sternly at Jaclyn.
"We have to try and sort this out, Rhys!"
“We have to try and sort this out!” Ffion instructs Rhys;
"That's what I've been trying to do!"
he says that is what he has been trying to do.   “Having Hywel sticking his nose in was a embarrassing, so, all right,
"All right, I may have been a bit stubborn"
“I’m willing to accept I might have been a bit stubborn – but you have to accept you’re at fault as well!   For letting me think that ring was for me.”
He protests that he did nothing to make her think that,
"You hid it, as if it was a surprise!"
but she stresses, “You hid it, as if it was a surprise!”   He maintains that he merely put it in a safe place;  “And when you realised I had misunderstood, you didn’t do anything to make me think otherwise, did you?” she rages.
"I didn't want to hurt you"
“It was too hard to tell you – I didn’t want to hurt you,” he explains,
"Well, that worked, didn't it?"
and she points out that did not work.
"The whole thing has been embarrassing for me as well!"
“Ffi, the whole thing has been embarrassing for me as well!”
"Do you really think the police would have walked past you?"
The nurse leaves the room, and Jaclyn says, “Do you really think the police would have walked past you without arresting you, if I had told them the truth?”
"So you've changed your mind?"
He believes that she may have changed her mind, and she goes on, “I’ve been through so much these last few weeks – all because of you – but I got a second chance.
"This isn't just about me"
“This isn’t just about me – Diane’s suffering, despite the fact the accident was not her fault.   Diane has a conscience – and I have a conscience.”
"But you're not going to the police?"
“But you’re not going to the police?” he says, hopefully, and after a pause, she replies that she is not.
"Not on my own – we're both going!"
She continues, “Not on my own – we’re both going to tell the truth, so that you can prove that you got a conscience as well!”
Dylan turns menacing
He walks to the other side of the bed and points out, in a threatening manner, “You broke the law – you helped me – you’ve hidden evidence.
"Do you think the police will respect your conscience?"
“Do you really think the police will have an ounce of respect for your conscience?”
"Think how it will affect Tesni, Guto and Gerwyn if you're in prison"
Jaclyn is not sure about that, and he goes on to detail the effect this will have on Guto, Tesni and Gerwyn if she is in prison.   “You don’t want to put them through more torture, do you, just to ease your conscience?”
"Can you fill my water jug?"
She asks him to refill her water jug;
He stares at her through the glass
after staring at her in an accusing manner, he does so.
"We were happy until that ring came into the house"
“This is ridiculous,” says Ffion, “We were happy until that ring came into this house!”
"You've been overreacting!"
Rhys accuses her of overreacting, which she denies, and he goes on to say that she has been completely unreasonable.
"It's made me reconsider our relationship"
“To be honest, it’s made me reconsider a lot about our relationship,” he explains, “It proves that you’re very stubborn, and that you like to to keep secrets –
"And you can be terribly self-righteous, too!"
“and you can be terribly self righteous, too!   As I said, you overreact to everything.”
"What now?"
His espression changes as he continues, “And on top of that –
"I'd be a fool not to ask you to marry me!"
“you’re one in a million – and I love you!   I’d be a fool not to to ask you to marry me!
"What do you say, Ffi?"
“What do you say?   I’ve never been more sure about anything!”
"Yeah, OK, then"
Ffion replies casually, “Yeah, OK, then,” which he regards as rather unenthusiastic,
They embrace each other
and they embrace each other.
"It's not going to bring Jamie or Bethan back, is it?"
Dylan is becoming angry;  “Stop playing games, Jaclyn!   A clear conscience isn’t going to bring Jamie or Bethan back, is it?   And what happened to them wasn’t just my fault!   I’m a small link in the big chain!”
"That's made loads of money out of people's suffering!"
Jaclyn responds, “A link in a chain that has made loads of money out of people’s suffering.   That’s what you are, Dylan.   Have you ever stopped to think about all the lives you’ve ruined?   And not just the junkies, but their families – what if Tesni and Guto got addicted to that rubbish?”
"They've got more sense than that"
He points out they have more sense than to do that,
"We've been here before – and you've learnt nothing!"
and she exclaims, “We’ve been here before – and you’ve learnt nothing!”   He insists that he has, and is willing to give his word again.
Again he promises that he is going to stop everything
He maintains that losing Bethan gave him such a shock, but Jaclyn is not inclined to believe him;  “I’m going to stop everything, OK?” he declares, and, taking her hand, goes on, “If you change your mind about going to the police . . .”
"You have to be punished for what you've done!"
She makes it very clear to him that he has to be punished for what he has done, and he pleads with her not to destroy her family, as they love her, and think the world of her – they rely on her.
He grasps Jaclyn's hand
He grasps Jaclyns hand.
Gerwyn assumes . . .
Gerwyn returns to the room,
. . . that peace and harmony have been restored
and finding Dylan in an apparently tearful state, assumes that everything has been sorted;
"Everyone will be so pleased you're mates again
“Everyone will be so pleased that you’re mates again.   Jacs doesn’t hold a grudge for long, do you, love?
"Let's hope that things can go back to normal now"
“Let’s hope that things can go back to normal again now.”
