Tyler hangs around outside number 7
Tyler is hanging around the door of number 7 when Dani comes out of the café with two cups of coffee;
"You'll have her over the weekend"
“You’ll have her tomorrow and over the weekend,” she reminds him.
"I'm only borrowing her"
Tyler groans, “And then she’ll go back to Iolo – I’m only borrowing her.”   Dani turns him towards the Deri, and tells him that Greta is living with them both;  one father is not more important than the other.
"I've made things worse, Dan"
He is under the impression that he made things worse by telling Iolo that he is her blood relative;  “Perhaps if I apologise, he will change his mind and let me look after her instead of Kath.”   Dani assures him that he is not on his own.
"He's full of beans in the morning"
At the cafe flat Sara is playing with Ifan and Kelly comments that he is full of beans in the morning;
"I won't make a habit of staying overnight"
Dylan wishes them good morning and promises he will not make a habit of staying there overnight.   “I just wanted to make sure Sara has settled in on her first night,” he says,
"One big, happy family!"
and Kelly describes them as one big, happy family.
He is going downstairs for a full breakfast, and Kelly asks, “When do you want me for my first shift at Tapas?”
"Not tonight – we're going out!"
Sara replies that it will not be tonight as they will be going out, as arranged.
When Dylan has gone, Kelly remarks that he is more relaxed already, and Sara admits, “You were right – I was worrying over nothing.”   She is told that there is no need to go out;
"We could have some wine in the flat"
they could have some wine in the flat, but Sara is determined, “No – you haven’t been out for ages.   Anyway flatmates are supposed to party together!   And Ifan is looking forward to seeing Dadi.”
The thought of Jason stirs uneasy feelings
The thought of Jason seems to be making Kelly feel uneasy.
"I can't believe what I've just seen!"
Siôn comes into Y Felin in an angry state;  “I can’t believe what I’ve just seen – someone’s cut down the old oak tree!” he growls,
All that now remains of the ancient tree
and shows Anita a photo of the stump.   She points out that it was on a dangerous corner, and perhaps the council want to straighten the road, so they felled it.
"It was part of the valley's history!"
“That tree had been there for centuries – it was part of the valley’s history!” he goes on, and Anita tells him there is no need to lose his temper.
“It wasn’t just any old tree – it gave the village its name, Cwmderi (meaning ‘Oak Valley’) – I want to find out who did it!   Nobody with any sense would cut it down.”
"Mark and Colin were selling logs"
Anita comments, “I think Mark Jones and Colin were going around selling logs,”
"I'm going to find out the truth!"
and Siôn is not surprised.   “You can’t accuse them without any proof,” she warns him, but he is determined to find out the truth,
Why is Anita reading Mother & Baby magazine?
and Anita resumes looking at the Mother & Baby magazine.
"Iolo would rather pay me than send her to nursery"
Dani has gone to see Kath, who points out, “It’s obvious Iolo would rather pay me than send her to the nursery.”    Dani replies that they are all available to look after her, and then Iolo would not have to pay Kath.
“Just be straight with me, Dani – you mean Tyler, don’t you?” say Kath.
"If you're available, Iolo won't ask Tyler to have her"
Dani argues that if Kath is available, Iolo will not ask Tyler to have her.   “He’s getting her this weekend,” Kath remarks,
"Not everyone's got a husband like Garry Monk to sign the cheques!"
“And I need the money – not everyone’s got a husband like Garry Monk to sign the cheques!”
Dani is not happy, and warns Kath, “I could report to you – are you a registered child minder?”
Kath brandishes a toy dinosaur at Dani
Kath retorts, “Don’t you start on me, good girl!”
"This is our home, Mam, not a crèche"
but Mark points out that this is their home, and not a crèche.   Kath wonders whose side he is on.
Mark has received an urgent call
Then his phone rings, and he says, “Calm down – I will be over to see you now!”
"Sort it out with Iolo"
As Dani is about to leave, Kath tells her to sort it out with Iolo, as all she is doing is trying to start a proper business.
"Jason, when was the last time you were on Llanarthur Road?"
Siôn is on the warpath and asks Jason when he was the last on Llanarthur Road,
"I've been working in the gym this week"
but Jason says has been working in the gym this week.
"It was there on Monday!"
“It was there on Monday,” Siôn continues,
"You're not making any sense, Siôn!"
but Jason does not know what he is talking about.
“The oak tree on Llanarthur Road – I was wondering if you saw someone cutting it down?” Siôn explains, “Can you ask your mother?   The community council is renowned for making stupid decisions!”
"I don't think she'll want to hear about some tree"
Jason enlightens him that his mother rarely leaves the house at the moment;  “She’s not interested in anyone or anything – so I don’t think she’ll want to hear about some tree!”
Mark hears the word 'tree' . . .
Mark is approaching them at this point,
. . . and attempts a rapid escape . . .
but the mention of the tree makes him turn and retrace his steps.
. . . but Siôn follows him into the shop
Siôn chases after him, and corners both him and Colin in the shop;  “Did you cut down Cwmderi’s ancient oak tree?” he demands.
"Do we look as if we have the arms of a lumberjack?"
“Do we look as if we have the arms of a lumberjack?” laughs Mark, and Siôn relates that they have been selling logs.
"Our logs came from Penrhewl"
They confirm that they came from Penrhewl, but adds that whoever was responsible needs to be caught.
Siôn is adamant that he will get to the bottom of this;
"You do realise that's illegal?"
“You do realise that cutting down trees like that is illegal?” he reminds them, and Colin is extremely worried.
"That tree was diseased – it didn't have any leaves!"
Mark assures him that there is no need to panic;  “That tree was diseased – it didn’t have any leaves!   We did the environment a favour.”
"Of course it didn't – it's midwinter!"
Colin rages, “Of course it didn’t have leaves – it’s midwinter!   It’s obvious that Siôn White suspects us!”   Mark advises that they must say they do not know anything about it, and should act innocent.
"I'm just an innocent accomplice!"
“We’ve been selling logs round the village – I’ve been stacking them here!” panics Colin, “This is your fault – I’m just an innocent accomplice!   I want you to shift them, pronto!”   Mark reminds him that he was happy to share the profits, but Colin says he has a record, and he does not want to go back to jail.
"If you've got a record, I've got a blinkin' double album – a box set!"
Mark’s reply is, “Look, if you’ve got a record, I’ve got a blinkin’ double album – a box set!”
Jason gives his convoluted order to Gwen
In the café, Jason places his order with Gwen;  “Bacon, no eggs – is it possible to have tomatoes and beans, please – and a piece of brown toast?”   As she makes a note of his detailed requirements,
Sara comes down for a pint of milk
Sara comes downstairs and asks her for a pint of milk.
"I've moved in upstairs"
Jason is surprised to see Sara there, and is informed that she has moved in upstairs;  “The house Dylan was going to buy fell through.”   He wonders what was wrong with where she was staying, and she replies that Kelly offered;  “It will be nice to have Ifan back in the village again.”
"I though we agreed to discuss any changes"
“I thought we agreed to discuss any changes relating to Ifan,” stresses Jason, “You can’t make big decisions like this behind my back, Sara.”
She thought that he would be happy that Ifan is back in Cwmderi, and emphasises that she does consider what is best for him, as Ifan’s father.
"How long do you intend to stay?"
“How long do you intend to stay – a week?   A month?” he enquires.
Gwen generously provides 4 pints of milk
As Gwen provides her with a 4-pint bottle of milk,
"I don't know how long I'll stay"
Sara says she does not know how long she will stay,
"Do you think it's fair on Kelly?"
but Jason does not think it is very fair on Kelly.   Sara goes back upstairs.
Dylan advises that Jaclyn is on the mend
In the Deri, Dylan reports to Dani that the hospital are taking great care of Jaclyn, and the doctors are pleased with her.   Then he asks Tyler how he is;
"Can't complain, compared with what Jaclyn's been through"
“Can’t complain, compared what Jaclyn’s been through,” he replies, and Dani wonders whether Dylan has a job for Tyler.
"Kelly has agreed to help out"
“I did need a chef, but Kelly has agreed to help out,” Dylan tells her, and at that moment Anita is arriving at the bar, and looks very put out by this news.
"Wants to prove she can do a better job, does she?"
“She wants to prove that she can do a better job, does she?” she sneers, but Dylan calls Kelly ‘a star’,
"And she's let Sara and Ifan move in with her"
and relates that she let Sara and Ifan move in with her.
“You should be glad you’ve got such a kind niece,” he adds, and Anita walks away in a huff.
Anita is not concerned about things like trees
Returning to Siôn, she is informed that the council did not cut the tree down, but she is not at all interested;  “Did you know Sara has moved in with Kelly?
"She's willing to give Ifan a home – but not her own child!"
“She’s willing to give Ifan a home – but not her own child –
"She's impossible!
“she’s impossible!”
"I don't want an ounce of evidence in there!"
All the bags of logs have now been removed from the shop store-room and loaded into shopping trolleys;  “I don’t want an ounce of evidence in there!” insists Colin.
"What's going on here, then?"
Kath wants to know what is going on, and is told that they are clearing the store-room.
"You've got 'guilty' written on your forehead!"
Kath insists, “Colin Evans, you’ve got ‘guilty’ written on your forehead!   Which lorry did these fall off?”
"We need to hide them for a while"
Mark replies that they just need to hide them for a while, and she suggests there is plenty of room out the back at Maes-y-Deri.   Mark thinks they could cover them with a tarpaulin,
"Siôn would be none the wiser"
and then Siôn would be none the wiser.
Then she realises, “This what John White is going on about, and she wants nothing to do with it;
"I don't want anything to connect me with these logs!"
“I don’t want anything to connect me to these logs, or it will jeopardise my new childcare business.    Find somewhere else!” she orders them.
They search for some other hidingplace
They are at a loss as to what they can do with the logs.
Jason sits, pondering
Jason is sitting in the café, and hands his empty cup to Kelly;
"Do you think it's sensible, offering Sara lodgings?"
“Do you think it’s sensible, offering Sara lodgings?” he asks, “Don’t you want some space now, to get your life back on track?   Don’t you think that having Ifan around the place will just remind you of Paul?”
"Don't use Paul, Jason!'
She warns him not to use Paul;  “You don’t want me to tell Sara about New Year’s Eve – I know it was a mistake, and she doesn’t need to know.”
Jason demands how she is going to be able to act normally in front of Sara, and just then she comes downstairs again.
"Just checking that Kelly is comfortable with the new circumstances"
“I’m just checking that Kelly is completely comfortable with the new circumstances, that’s all,” he tells her.
"If there was a problem, Kelly would tell me"
“Jason, if there was a problem, Kelly would tell me!” Sara informs him, then enquires, “Can you babysit later?”
"It will be good for Mam to have Ifan around again"
He says that it will be good for his mother to have Ifan around again, but Sara would prefer it if he came there, so they can settle Ifan into his room
"Just remembered I've got something on tonight"
Jason suddenly alleges that he has something on tonight, but Kelly intervenes,
"Come on, Jase – Sara wants to take me out"
“Come on, Jase – Sara wants to take me out,” and he replies that he will try to change his plans.
"Listen here, John White!"
Kath has tracked down Siôn to the Deri, and addresses him, “Listen here, John White, Mark’s no saint, but he’s an angel compared to many around here!”
"Does he have a chainsaw?"
Siôn wonders if he possesses a chainsaw, and whether she saw any dust on his clothes.
"The only dust I can see is what's between you ears!"
“The only dust I can see is what’s between your ears!” she snarls at him.
"Yes, Eileen – I'll be over later"
Then her phone rings and she is asked by Eileen if she will come over this afternoon;  she agrees,
"Oh no!   I agreed to babysit for Iolo"
but then realises she has already said that she will babysit for Iolo.   At this, Tyler, sitting by the bar, takes an interest, and Anita is surprised that she is looking after Greta.   “Yes, Iolo pays me – and I’ve done it before,” Kath says.
"You go to Penrhewl – I'm available this afternoon . . ."
Anita urges her to go to Penrhewl;  “I’m available this afternoon,” but Kath will inform Eileen that she is fully booked.   Anita is becoming angry;  “You don’t need to look after her again, because I’m around –
". . . and I don't charge a penny!"
“and I don’t charge a penny!”
"You'd steal a biscuit from my mouth, given half a chance!"
Kath is disgusted;  “You’d steal a biscuit from my mouth, given half a chance!” she growls.
"They're arguing about who's looking after my daughter"
At the bar, Tyler tells Dani that Anita and Kath are arguing about who is looking after his daughter, and Dani intends to go and have a word with Anita.
"You didn't do a very good job with Kath"
“You didn’t do a very good job with Kath,” he admonishes her, and tells Dani to leave Anita to him.
Colin is given his instructions . . .
Mark and Colin are hiding the logs in the back of the chippy, but Britt instructs Colin on the phone that she is not happy with this arrangement.
. . . which are to remove the logs from the chippy
Mark is advised that they have to take them all outside again, and Colin comes up with the idea of the garage at Llwyncelyn;
"Gaynor won't go in there all winter . . ."
“It’s empty, and Gaynor never goes in there during the winter.
". . . and I know where the key is kept"
“It’s locked – but I know where the key is!   Get a move on, before Gaynor gets back from school.”
There are toys all over the place
There are a lot of toys scattered around the café flat when Jason arrives for babysitting duties;
"Ifan's got a red car, hasn't he?"
“Ifan’s got a red car, hasn’t he?” he says, and assures Sara that he would not miss the opportunity to spend time with his son.
"What happened to this big, posh house in Cwrtmynach?"
“You’re not going to be here, I hope!” he remarks to Dylan, “Tell me, what happened to this big, posh house you were buying in Cwrtmynach?”
"The seller rejected my offer"
Dylan replies that the seller rejected his offer, which Jason takes to mean, “You couldn’t afford it!”
Dylan corrects him, “It’s another way of saying I’m not a fool who will pay the full price.” Jason wonders whether Sara does not deserve the full price, and Dylan decides he is going to the hospital, hoping that the girls enjoy their night out,
"A treat from the boss"
and he gives them some spending money, as a treat from the boss.
Then Kelly reveals to Jason that she has offered to do some part-time shifts as a chef in Tapas;  as they are about to go,
"Cold meat's in the fridge – help yourself""
Kelly tells Jason, “Cold meat’s in the fridge – help yourself!”
"Right then, boy – we've got the house to ourselves!"
“Right then, boy – we’ve got the house to ourselves!” says Jason,
This pleases Ifan
and Ifan grins.
"This was taken a hundred years ago!"
Siôn has been searching for a particular photo of the oak tree, which was taken over a century ago;  “And it was 200 years old then!” he tells Anita, who is looking after Greta.
"Why don't we all go for a walk?"
She suggests that they could all go for a walk,
"This is a police matter!"
but Siôn continues, “Mark Jones and Colin Evans have cut down the tree that stood when the Rebecca Riots were taking place!   This is a police matter!”
"Who's that at the door, Greta?"
Then there is a knock at the door, and Anita goes to answer it;
Anita is not pleased to see the caller
she is not pleased to see that it is Tyler, who says he has come to check that Greta has everything that she needs.
“Iolo’s so busy, I wasn’t sure if he had packed everything.   Can I see her?”   Anita replies that he has two seconds, and stresses that he is not staying.
Greta gives Tyler some pictures
Greta gives him some pictures, and Anita says they have been reading some stories and drawing;  he is very glad she is with them, and not with Kath.
"I don't think Kath knows what a book is!"
He sneers, “I don’t think she knows what a book is!
Tyler hands over Greta's blanket
“I’ve brought Greta’s blanket – it helps her to settle down.”
As Anita hovers impatiently in the background, Tyler says, “Do you want Dadi to read you a story?”
"That's not what we agreed"
but is told by Anita that is not what they agreed.
"I miss her exactly the same way you miss Paul"
He expected them to understand how he feels;  “I miss her exactly the same way you miss Paul,” he says,
Anita is affronted
but Anita is outraged by this.
"We're disappointed about what you told Iolo"
Siôn emphasises, “We’re very disappointed about what you told Iolo yesterday – that you have more of a right over Greta, because you’re a blood relative.”
Tyler admits that he was wrong, but was frustrated with how Iolo was treating him.   He is reminded that Iolo has not done anything, and it is indicated that he should leave.
"Look, you're punishing Greta here"
Tyler maintains that they are punishing Greta,
"She's better off without you!"
but Anita is quite clear, “She’s better off without you!”
Tyler makes his exit
and he leaves the house as requested.
"Thanks to Kelly, I'm back in the village"
In the Deri, Sara announces to Dani, “Thanks to Kelly, I’m back in the village, but I don’t know what Jason thinks about it – you can’t tell what mood he’s in these days.”
Kelly feels uncomfortable
Kelly is looking rather uncomfortable, as Dani points out that it is not easy for him;  “Seeing you move on, while he’s living with his mother.”   Sara realises that people think she is an old cow for destroying his life, but she would be happy if Jason moved on and met someone else.
"We'll say the logs are from Penrhewl"
As Colin and Mark come in, they ask Dani for a pint each;  “Look, if anyone asks, we’ll say they are logs from Penrhewl, exactly like the ones we’ve been selling,” Mark instructs him,
"You won't have to eat porridge!"
“Trust me, Col – I promise you won’t have to eat porridge.”
"I think I made things worse"  — again
Tyler comes in and tells Dani, “I think I made things worse by going to Y Felin.   Anita was worse than Siôn – she said that Greta would be better off without me.”
"Who does that Anita think she is?"
Dani wonders who Anita thinks she is,
"Perhaps she is better off without me"
but he concludes that perhaps Greta is better off without him.”
"I'm going to sort her out!"
Dani instructs him not to think like that, and promises, “I’m going to sort her out!”
Tyler goes upstairs
Tyler urges her to leave things alone, and heads up to the flat.
