Dani walks along the street

Dani is walking along the High Street when she notices Liv,

Liv is outside the pharmacy

who is tapping on the door of the pharmacy.

"They've got CCTV"

“They’ve got CCTV – don’t get any ideas,” Dani warns,

"I've run out of folic acid"

but Liv replies that she has run out of folic acid and wonders if Dani knows what time they open.

“Aren’t there are any pharmacies near you?” snaps Dani and is told that Liv is meeting Iolo later.   Liv is surprised that he did not tell her;

"I asked him to adopt this little one"

she has asked him to adopt this little one.

Dani is disgusted

Dani walks away in obvious disgust.

Iolo studies the scan photo

Greta is engrossed in her iPad, while Iolo is still studying the scan photo when Cai comes downstairs.

"I feel a bit of a fool"

“Good morning,” he says, “I’m sorry – I feel a bit of a fool.”

"You didn't know who she was, Cai"

Iolo accepts that he did not know who she was.

"Did she say any more?"

“Did she say any more – about the baby?   Who the father is?”   Iolo replies that he did not get all the details but is meeting her later today;

"We have some catching up to do . . ."

they have some catching up to do, but Cai does not need to be there.

". . . but I'm sure I can handle her"

Iolo is sure that he can handle her – and they have a lot to discuss.

"Right, miss – where's your bag?"

Then he calls to Greta, “Right, miss – where’s your bag?  Sera’s mother will be here in a minute – come on.”

"Steady – you already had two"

At number 7, Kelly catches Ieuan making his third cup of coffee of the morning;  “Who, steady – you already had two.”   He agrees, pointing out that this is his third –

"One for each time I was up in the night"

one for each time he was up in the night.

"An e-mail from Brynawelon!"

Kelly’s phone sounds and she exclaims, “Oh, my gosh!   An e-mail from Brynawelon!   Thank you for applying for the manager’s position.

"I've got an interview, like!"

“We are delighted to invite you for an interview!”

She shrieks with excitement, “No way did I think I’d get an interview, like!”

"I didn't doubt you for a second"

Ieuan comments that he was sure that she would do well and did not doubt her for a second;  “They must have sensed how enthusiastic you are.”   Kelly imagines that they did not see her potential,

"They just feel sorry for me"

but just feel sorry for her because she is so enthusiastic.

“You know, without sounding cliché,

"I think I could have a real positive impact"

“I think I could have a real positive impact on people’s lives, you know,” she says.

Ieuan does not doubt that for a second and wonders whether he needs any help with the interview.

"I've been on several panels"

“I have been on several panels in my time.”

"That would be really useful"

Kelly considers that would be very useful,

"Take a seat, Miss Enthusiasm 2025!"

so he invites Miss Enthusiasm 2025 to take a seat.

"Oh – time for Anita's tablets"

However, the alarm on his phone sounds to indicate that Anita is due to take some tablets.

"I can take them up"

Kelly volunteers to take them up, but he insists that she has preparation work to do

"Please don't tell me you're going to do it!"

Cai is having breakfast at Y Felin when there is an urgent knocking on the door and Iolo finds that it is Dani;  “Please don’t say that you’re going to do it!” she demands as she bursts in, “Adopt Liv’s baby!

"Is there something wrong with you?"

“Is there something wrong with you?”

Iolo tries to point out that nothing has been agreed yet, but Dani continues, “She’s bad news, Iolo!”

"She's vulnerable"

Cai interrupts to point out that she is vulnerable;  “Vulnerable, a junkie, a liability,” Dani adds,

"She's using you!"

“She hasn’t changed – shes using you!”

"I don't know what I'm going to say"

Iolo has not yet decided what he is going to say to her and Dani cannot believe that he is actually considering doing it.

"Idiot!"

“Idiot!” she snarls, before rushing out of the house.

"Do you think I'm an idiot?"

Iolo wonders whether Cai also thinks he is an idiot,

Cai does not answer

but there is no reply.

"Why don't you go out in the car?"

Ieuan is back downstairs and is advised to go for a walk or a spin in the car;  Kelly points out that Anita has been indoors for days.

"I'm going to help you with this interview"

He says that she does not have much energy at the moment and, in any case, he is going to help Kelly with her interview.

"You concentrate on Auntie Neet"

“Do you know what?   I’ll be fine – you concentrate on Auntie Neet – you could talk about anniversary celebrations – it is tomorrow, after all.”

"I'm not sure she even remembers"

Ieuan is not sure that Anita even remembers.

"You deserve a proper splurge"

“But you do – and you deserve to celebrate, a proper splurge.   You’ve dealt with your first year amazingly.”

He thinks that it will be easier to eat in the house and will get a takeaway.

“I think you deserve more than just a cheeky korma and a couple of greasy poppadoms,” Kelly tells him.

"Concentrate on this new job"

He tells her to forget about them and concentrate on this new job;  “Brynawelon would be fools not to offer it to you –

"You enjoy the company of old people . . ."

“and of course, you enjoy the company of older people, don’t you?

". . . you've been spending a lot of time with Brynmor"

“It’s just that you’ve been spending a lot of time with Brynmor recently.”

"How many more times?"

“How many more times?” she groans, “There’s nothing going on between Brynmor and me!   But do you know what?   He understands me and he’s a good support.

"If people can't handle that, that's their problem!"

“If people can’t handle that, that’s their problem!”

"We shall have to move a few tables"

Cassie tells Kath that they will have to move a few of the tables for the ‘danceathon’

"Think Cai has been practising his routine?"

and Kath wonders whether Cai has been practising some kind of dance routine.   “Are you looking forward to watching him do the ‘Pasodoble’?” Cassie asks.

Brynmor comes in

Brynmor comes in through the door and Kath mutters, “Here we go.”

"Are Gwenda and Glenda still in the flat"

He asks in a rather subdued voice, “Are Gwenda and Glenda still in the flat?   Because I didn’t see them on the stall.”

"His antique cats"

Kath explains to Cassie that they are his antique cats, then answers that she is not sure where they are, but will have a look later for him.

"Why make me look like a fool?"

“Why make me look like a fool with that stall?” he demands.

"You don't need our help to do that"

Cassie maintains that he does not need their help to make himself look like a fool, so he would prefer to have a bit of privacy.

Kath tells her to go and have her break, then answers his question;

"To teach you a lesson, I suppose"

“To teach you a lesson, I suppose – you turned your back on Mark when he needed you.   He might go to jail because you were too stubborn to help.”

"So I was right"

He comes to the conclusion that he was right, and that is why his things were outside,

"If you won't respect Mark . . ."

but she emphasises, “If you won’t respect Mark, I’m not going to respect you.”

Brynmor cannot understand why he should help Mark;  “I don’t want to see him go to prison – of course I don’t –

"I don't see why I should pay his legal bills"

“but I don’t see why I should pay his legal bills.”

Kath tells him to forget she asked;

"If Mark goes to jail, I'll deal with it"

“It’s obvious that you’ve got more important things on your plate.   If Mark goes to jail, I’ll deal with it – just like I have to deal with everything else.

Kath knew he would be too selfish to help"

“I knew you’d be too selfish to help.

Gaynor is just leaving

Gaynor has called in at the deli to pick up a coffee and is on her way out again when she is stopped by Kelly;

"You're a good judge of character" — really?

“You’re a good judge of character –can you describe me in three words?”

Gaynor is sorry but she has to get back to the pharmacy;  she is urged to think of three words off the top of her head;

"Strong, unique, colourful"

“OK – strong, unique, colourful.

"What's this – a personality quiz?"

“What are you doing?   A personality quiz or something?”

"Brynawelon manager!"

“No, preparing for a job interview, actually – Brynawelon manager!”

As she utters these words, Eleri has just walked in and looks very surprised;  “No way?” she exclaims.

"Why so shocked?"

Kelly cannot understand why she is so shocked, then is informed that Eleri has an interview, too.   She regards this as very exciting.

Gaynor insists that she could not choose between them, as she leaves.   “I’m sure that it will be clear enough on the day,” Eleri confidently asserts,

"Good luck, Kelly"

“Good luck, Kelly.”

Kelly's hopes have received a severe knock

Kelly now appears to have given up hope.

"You're considering it because?"

Iolo has gone to see his father in the shop flat;  And you’re considering it because . . ?” Siôn asks.

"Because of Greta"

“Because of Greta – look at the happiness she gives us and we give to her,” Iolo rather naïvely answers,

"Can you cope with another baby?"

but his father wonders if Iolo can cope with another baby.   Has he forgotten about the sleepless nights, the feeding, the dirty nappies?

"What sort of life would Greta have had?"

“But what sort of life would Greta have had if I had not stepped in?” Iolo demands, “Be honest with me now – do you think I’m a fool?”

"No, it makes sense"

Siôn agrees that, on the contrary, it makes sense for Greta to be brought up with her biological brother or sister.

"After everything you said about Alex?"

“After everything you said about Alex?”

Siôn irritably tells him not to start that again now;

"Greta is 100% my grand-daughter"

“Greta’s your daughter and you are my son, so there’s no question that Greta is 100% my grand-daughter.   If you want help to look after another baby, I’ll support you every step of the way.   But the last thing we need is to go to war with Dani again – after everything.”

"I hope you've apologised to Kath"

Brynmor is withdrawing cash from the machine when Cassie approaches;  “I hope you’ve apologised to Kath.”

"Why should I?"

He wonders why he should

"Don't be so hard-hearted"

and she advises him, “Don’t be so hard-hearted.”

Brynmor reminds her that he and Kath are not married any more

"Kath is being completely unreasonable"

and that Kath is being completely unreasonable.   Cassie does not agree with that;  “You knew how much that sidecar meant to her – and what did you do?

"Try to be a bit more sensitive, will you?"

“You used it to flirt with Kelly.   Try to be a bit more sensitive, will you?   If you can remember how to be, that is.”

He considers Cassie's words

As he muses upon her words,

Kelly emerges from the deli

Kelly comes out of the deli and he says that he saw her text about the interview;

"You must be really chuffed"

“You must be really chuffed.”

"If Eleri hadn't had an interview as well"

“Yeah – if Eleri had not had an interview as well,” she groans.   He assures her that Brynawelon would not bother interviewing her if they did not think she was suitable.

"Or I'm a box-ticking exercise"

Kelly looks at the matter in another way;  “Or they’ve already decided and I’m simply a box-ticking exercise.”

Once again he insists that she is perfect for the job;  “You just have to show them that, that’s all.”

"I'm going to be a gibbering wreck!"

Eleri has also emerged from the deli, as Kelly predicts that she is going to be a gibbering wreck.

"Not if I practise with you"

“Not if I practise with you,” he suggests, but Kelly maintains that she has already taken up too much of his time.   “Rubbish – I’ll come over later – a bit of polish and they’ll be begging you to take the job!”

"Nice one, Dad"

Eleri cannot wait to comment, “Nice one, Dad – helping Kelly to try and ruin my chances.   Nice to see you’re so supportive of your daughter.”

"He was just trying to help"

Kelly protests that he was just offering to help, but Eleri continues to moan, “You can’t stand seeing me follow my own path, can you?

"It will be a no-brainer . . ."

“He gets a kick out of thinking I depend on him.   It will be a no-brainer, giving me the job,

". . . I wouldn't bother, if I were you"

“so I wouldn’t bother turning up to the interview if I were you.”

Brynmor and Kelly look at each other

She stalks off along the road, with Brynmor and Kelly left looking at each other.

"Come on, Dan – what would Tyler do?"

Iolo has gone round to see Dani:  “Come on, Dan – what would Tyler do?   No way would he turn his back on this baby.”

"You think life is one big fairytale"

“You think that life is one big fairytale, don’t you?   That babies land on the doorstep and you live happily ever after – things don’t work that way, Iolo!”

"What is your problem, Dani?"

He cannot understand what her problem is, so she makes it very plain;  “Liv is my problem – she’s making the same mistakes and expects you to mop them up!”   He realises that it is a difficult time for her at the moment, a year since she lost Seren,

"Why are you doing this for Liv?"

but she demands, “Why are you doing this for Liv?”

"Out of some kind of duty"

and he supposes that it is out of some kind of duty.

“Her mistakes are not your responsibility,” Dani insists, but he wants to know what she suggests;  should she simply leave the baby with Liv – the junkie, the liability, which is what Dani called her.

"She should get rid of it!"

“She should get rid of it – she doesn’t deserve to be a mother!” is Dani’s immediate reply, so Iolo walks out.

Kath has looked at the wedding dress

As Kath looks at a picture of Gaynor’s wedding dress on her phone, she remarks, “Very pretty – it’s lovely.”   Of course, Gaynor is worried,

"I hope Tom will agree"

hoping that Tom will agree, so is reminded, “Well, you like it, don’t you?”

Gayer says that it is a bit different because it is not white, but is still doubtful;  “You don’t think it’s tacky, do you?   Because Tom has said he wouldn’t like that.”

"I don't know anything about Tom's taste"

Kath does not know anything about Tom’s taste.

"Espresso – double shot, please"

Eleri comes in, demanding, “Espresso – double shot, please.”

"You don't need any caffeine"

Cassie observes that she has enough fire in her belly without having caffeine as well.   “I have to, thanks to Dad –

"Dad's coaching Kelly"

“he’s coaching Kelly for the Brynawelon manager’s job, so she gets it instead of me!”

"What are those two playing at?"

Kath wonders what those two are playing at,

"Do you think they're . . . you know?"

while Cassie enquires, “Do you think your father and Kelly are . . . you know?”   Eleri admits that may be a possibility, which confirms what Kath had been thinking.

"Nothing would surprise me with Dad any more"

“Nothing would surprise me with Dad any more,” Eleri sighs.

"What's this doing here?"

Kath goes outside, where she finds Brynmor with his motorcycle, right outside the Deri.   “What’s this doing here?   Shift it, please.”

"Shift it yourself – because it's yours"

Brynmor tells her to shift it herself;  “Because it’s yours.   You were right – I’ve been inconsiderate.

"We had a lot of fun on this . . ."

“The last thing I want is to make life more difficult for you.   We had a lot of fun on this, didn’t we?

". . . but nothing lasts for ever"

“But nothing lasts for ever, unfortunately – so . . .”

He gives Kath the keys"

He hands her the keys.

She says that she does not have a licence, so he tells her he wants her to sell it and use the money to help Mark.

"Make sure the next owner looks after it . . ."

“Just make sure the next owner looks after it,

". . . because this is very special"

“because this is very special, isn’t it?”

"Do you want to go to the cinema tonight?"

Greta is playing with two of her dolls, one of which asks the other if they want to go to the cinema tonight.

Iolo is watching

Iolo is watching this.

"I'm out of practice"

Brynmor arrives at number 7 and Kelly is ready to start;  “But a warning – I’m out of practice.”

"Not disturbing Anita, are we?"

He hopes that they will not be disturbing Anita, so she explains that Ieuan has taken her out in the car, as it is their anniversary tomorrow.   “Can you believe it’s been a year?

"They're lucky, in a way"

Brynmor comments that they are lucky, in a way,

"Is something wrong?"

so she senses that something is wrong.   “I was just thinking about Kath –

"The divorce is not easy for Kath"

“the divorce is not easy for her.   Life is full of promise, isn’t it, when you get married?”

"Until reality kicks in"

Kelly agrees, “Yeah – until reality kicks in.”

"I feel like a failure"

Brynmor is feeling like a failure, but she assures him that he is not.

"All the best people are divorcées"

“Anyway all the best people are divorcées.

"Do you want to talk a rain check?"

“Do you want to take a rain check today?”

He is adamant that he said he was going to help and that is what he is going to do.

"It's nice to talk to someone who listens"

He remarks that it is nice to talk to someone who listens

"Right – interview"

and then is ready to start with this interview business.

Liv is at Y Felin

Iolo opens the door of Y Felin to admit Liv and offers her a cup of tea, but she declines, neither does she want to sit down.

"I've been thinking about your offer . . ."

“Well, I’ve been thinking about your offer,” he begins, “The thing is, it’s a huge responsibility

". . . it would mean huge changes for Greta"

“and it would mean huge changes for me and for Greta.”

"It was worth asking"

Liv quite understands, but considers that it was worth asking.

"No, I'm willing to do it"

“No,” he continues, “I’ll do it – I’m willing to adopt your baby.”

"You have no idea how grateful I am!"

She cannot believe it;  “Iolo, you have no idea how grateful I am!   Thank you!”

Iolo is on the receiving end of a hug

and she throws her arms around him, which he finds somewhat disconcerting.
