Next morning, Siwsi looks at herself in the mirror of the Tamed toilet

and is cleaning her teeth when she hears some keys rattle.

Alarmed, she quickly leaves the room, but in her rush forgets her make-up bag which is lying on the washbasin.

"Good morning" |
Cai comes downstairs and discovers Lleucu still asleep on the sofa; she awakens when he wishes her, “Good morning.”

"I must have fallen asleep" |
She gives the excuse that she must have fallen asleep while watching the television, but he is not taken in by that.

"I'm so, so sorry" |
“Look, Lleucs, what happened yesterday has opened my eyes to the impact I’ve had on you – and I’m so, so sorry.”

"I didn't want to make you feel worse" |
She protests that the last thing she wanted to do was make him feel worse, but he assures her that she is not, “And it’s not your fault. I’ve been ill and there’s no-one to blame.

"I've hurt a lot of people" |
“But I have to accept that I’ve hurt a lot of people – you more than anyone! And you can’t trust me at the moment.”

"Stop, Dad . . ." |
She tries to stop him,

"Are you ready to have me home?" |
but he goes on, “I want you to carefully consider whether you’re ready to have me home – back in Cwmderi full-time.”

"How can you even think such a thing?" |
Lleucu looks horrified at this; “How can you even think about asking such a thing?”

"I don't want to put pressure on you" |
He replies that he can see that she is under strain and he does not want to put pressure on her. He urges her to think about it.

“And don’t worry about my feelings – you must do what’s right for you – because you’re the most important thing to me.

Lleucu cannot believe what he is saying |
“I’m only going to come back when and if you’re ready.”

Dani is on the early shift |
Dani has been doing a cleaning shift early in the morning at Tamed and Diane comments that she has been busy.

She has come for her morning fix of coffee.

Dani has found a bag in the toilet . . . |
Dani has found a bag in the toilets and comments that Seren used to have one like that, but this one bears the name ‘Siwan’.

She leaves at the deli counter, expecting that someone will come to collect it.

"They have strong lungs" |
Eileen and Siôn are at Penrhewl, with one twin each. Siôn comments that they have strong lungs; “I could hear you across the valley.” Eileen assumes that they were missing their Grandma.

"Thanks for coming over" |
Sioned thanks them for coming over; “I would have struggled to settle them on my own.” Her mother asks why she is on her own and Sioned replies that Howard is still at APD.

"And Mathew?" |
“And Mathew?” is the next question.

"I don't know whether he'll be back" |
Sioned answers that he has left and she does not know whether he will be back.

"It's a lot to expect someone to take on" |
“It was a lot to expect someone to take on, I suppose – a single mother of two babies with a farm to run,” says her mother.
“You say some stupid things!” Sioned exclaims,

Siwsi is having problems |
Siwsi is working at Bryntirion, sorting out Dai’s tablets, but she seems to be flustered,

so Diane tells her to sit down and she will make a cup of tea.

"Do yo want something to eat?" |
Cai comes downstairs at Y Felin, carrying his bag; he tells Lleucu that he thinks he has everything. She offers him something to eat before he goes, or they could go to Tamed, where they do nice toasties,

"I think I'd better get back to the hostel" |
but he thinks he had better get back to the hostel.

"I'm going to miss you" |
“I’m going to miss you,” she says, on the verge of tears and he urges her to think about what he said.

He is aware that things are not going to be quite right for a while; “But you have to remember that I’m much, much better.”

and she tells him to text when he gets back to the hostel.

She closes the door behind him and looks very upset.

Sioned comes marching out of the brewery and shouts to Ieuan, “Have you seen Rhys anywhere?”

They are both missing Mathew |
He asks if she is missing Mathew, as they most certainly are; “All I do at APD is tell customers that he’s not available. All that paperwork – I don’t know how he does it.”

"And he helps out on the farm as well" |
Sioned adds that he helps out on the farm as well. Ieuan says he will do anything to get him back as soon as possible.

“There is one thing you can do,” Sioned tells him, but we do not get to hear what it is.

Dani finds Lleucu in the deli |
Lleucu is sitting mournfully in the deli when Dani comes in and discovers her;

she says that she is OK, but Dani knows that is not the case.

"Iolo said that Cai had been home" |
“Iolo said that Cai has been home,” she remarks

"I'm scared, Dani" |
and Lleucu admits that she is scared.
Diane asks Siwsi if everything is all right, as she does not seem herself; she admits that things are rather difficult at the moment.

"I'm not sure then I'll get Barbara back" |
“I’m not quite sure when I shall get Barbara back. It’s costing me a fortune to get taxis to get to my shifts on time.”

"There's something else, isn't there?" |
Diane realises that there is more than that and Siwsi is forced to admit that she has no money;

“I’m going deeper and deeper into my overdraft every month – I can’t remember the last time I wasn’t in the red!”
Diane had no idea that things were as bad as that;

“Even with two jobs? And you’re such a good worker – I’m sure that things will get better for you, Susan,” but Siwsi is not so sure of that.

“And I’m Siwan, actually, but don’t worry – Siwan became Siw, then Siws, then Siwsi. Now everyone thinks I’m a Susan.”

This makes Diane think; “Hang on,” she says, “Did you leave the make-up bag in the toilets at Tamed this morning? Where did you stay last night, then?

"I've fallen out with my mother" |
Siwsi replies that she does, but has currently fallen out with her mother and there was no hot water where she stayed last night, so she went to Tamed this morning to wash in the toilets.

Diane points out that Dani found that bag on her early shift,

"Eileen was happy to let me in" |
so Siwsi lies, “I saw Eileen opening the shop and she was happy to let me in.” Diane considers that she must have caught Eileen on a good day.

“Listen, you could have come here to wash, you know – you didn’t have to use the Tamed toilets – it’s not fine –

“you’re welcome here any time. In fact, you can go for a shower now, if you want to.”

However, Siwsi is adamant that she has work to do,

Meanwhile Diane wonders if there is anything she can do to ease Siwsi’s situation.

In the deli, Dani brings over a coffee for Lleucu; “You don’t have to say anything, but I’m here if you want to talk, OK?”

Lleucu replies, “Dad – we haven’t fallen out, just I’m always worried that he’s going to do something.”

She is told that is a quite natural reaction and goes on, “He says he’s getting better, that he’s getting stronger,

“but there’s always a little voice inside me that says it’s happening.”

Dani recommends that she will have to try to trust him again,

but Lleucu protests that she cannot – and that is the problem. “Why did he have to do something so selfish?

“He’s destroyed everything that we had between us – things will never be the same!”

Dani is aware that they will never be the same and she knows how Lleucu is feeling; “One minute you think you can cope and the next . . .”

Lleucu just hates feeling like this.

“Well, the only way you’ll stop feeling like this is to forgive your father.”

Lleucu wonders if Dani has forgiven him;

she ponders the question for a moment, but we do not hear the answer.

"How is Anita?" |
Diane is speaking to Ieuan in the Deri, asking how Anita is;

“Up and down – she was good this morning but that can change from hour to hour,” he groans.

"It's important to have a care plan" |
“I know how difficult it is to think ahead, but I do think it’s important to have a care plan in place,” Diane suggests and he agrees. He is worried about how quickly she will deteriorate and stresses that Kelly is a big help,

but he is not sure how much longer they will be able to cope.

“It’s a difficult situation – but I’m here, if I can help,” Diane adds, “To be honest, that’s why I wanted to meet you.

“I think I know exactly what you need.”

Lleucu is remembering Seren; “She had the cutest smile.”

Dani says that is what she needs to do now; she needs to remember her the way she was, rather than blame everything and everyone else.

“So if Dad moved back to Cwmderi – would you be all right with that?” Lleucu asks.

Dani realises that it would not be easy at first, but wonders how Lleucu feels.

“This is his home – and I miss him so much. I’m just scared of the responsibility – I don’t think I’m ready to have him home.”

Dani reminds her that this is not her responsibility, so she wonders who else there is; “I don’t want anyone to feel sorry for me – Dad is what’s important now.”

Dani takes issue with that; “No – everyone is important –

As they return to APD, Ieuan is wondering whether Siwsi will have time, as she seems very busy as it is and he does not want to lose her from APD. Diane advises him to have a word with her.

“I understand why you’re finding it difficult to get to your shifts on time now,” he begins, so she assumes that Howard has been talking.

Diane tries to explain her presence there by asking where the WD-40 is kept.

"How logn have you been working as a carer?" |
He continues, “I didn’t know that you worked as a carer as well – how long have you been doing that?”

"On and off since school" |
Siwsi answers that it has been on and off for years since leaving school,

"I might be looking for someone to help with Anita" |
so he tells her, “As you know, at some point I might be looking for someone reliable with a lot of experience to be there to help out with Anita – if we needed someone, of course.”

She replies that she would be very happy to be considered

"I haven't said anything to Anita yet" |
and he stresses that he has not said anything to Anita yet, but is only enquiring about the possibilities.
He is sure that Anita will be glad, in fact they will both be glad.

and Eileen brings in the baby monitor. “Where on earth is she? We’ve been here for hours,” she complains,

Siôn agrees that it is one of life’s greatest privileges, spending time with your grandson and granddaughter. “I listened to a podcast a while ago that said you live longer if you have grandchildren – we could listen to it now if you like – I think I’ve got it in my favourites.”
