Siwsi has seen another night in the car

Siwsi is looking in the car mirror as she applies her mascara, 

The car refuses to start

then she turns on the engine, which only splutters and refuses to start;  

"Oh, come one Babs!"

“Oh, come on, Babs!” she sighs, 

Siwsi is distraught

“Come on, Barbara, please!”   The car cannot be started.

Brynmor approaches Y March Gwyn

Brynmor approaches Kelly’s takeaway and comments that she is starting early.   

"How did Manchester go?"

She is surprised to see him back from Manchester, wondering how it went;  “Very well, thank you – lots of meetings – can I have a coffee, please?”

"Sorry, we have only instant"

She apologises that they have run out of beans and only have instant, 

"No problem with that"

but he has no problems with that.   

"Tamed have proper coffee"

She reminds him that Tamed have proper coffee, but he is insistent that he wants his coffee there.

"I've been thinking about you"

“I’ve been thinking about you as well,” he adds and then they are joined by Jinx.   

"Eleri says things went well"

He has heard from Eleri that things went well in Manchester, then orders tea and a breakfast wrap from Kelly, 

"I've left my wallet and phone at home"

but suddenly realises he has left his wallet and his phone at home.   Brynmor offers to pay for him, 

"But don't tell Eleri"

but he must not tell Eleri.

Lleucu removes any bladed articles

At Y Felin, Lleucu is anxiously sorting through things, removing any bladed articles, when Iolo comes downstairs;  

"I think everything's ready"

“I think everything’s ready,” she tells him and Iolo is looking forward to having Cai back, even for one night.

Iolo notices the contents of the box

Then he notices the box which she is carrying;  

"I feel a bit nervous"

she explains, “It’s a big responsibility, isn’t it?   I feel a bit nervous – I’m fine, I’m probably overthinking things – what if . . .   No, sorry – I don’t know what I’m trying to say.”

"He's doing much better now"

Iolo assures her that Cai is doing much better now and he will be so glad to be back.

It was tiny when Megan was there

In the Quantum Hydro Works office, which seems to be larger than it used to be, Hywel comments that Manchester went very well;  

"I haven't had an official invitation"

Eleri complains that she has not had an official invitation to the conference yet.   

"Hywel and I will be representing the company"

Her father breaks the news to her that he and Hywel are to represent the company.

"What's the point of having me here?"

“What?” she exclaims, “I have important contacts going and they expect me to be there – what’s the point of having me here then?   To take notes for you?”

Brynmor replies that he wants to see what opportunities she would prefer, so she immediately snarls, “Opportunities you’re throwing at Hywel!”   

Hywel makes his exit

Hywel gets the impression that he ought to leave, suggesting that he will meet Brynmor at the golf club.   

"Ta-ra, wonder boy!"

Eleri shouts after him, “Ta-ra, wonder boy!”

“You’re not really going to let him go?   He won’t know anybody!”   

"I have to invest in him"

Brynmor tells her that she would be surprised and insists that he has to invest in Hywel, as he is doing good work.   “If I went, you would see that it’s worth investing in me as well,” she insists, 

"Prydderch the perv"

“I don’t see Hywel successfully changing ‘Prydderch the perv’s’ mind, do you?   Unless he’s planning to wear heels!”

"Jealousy doesn't suit you. Eleri"

“Jealousy doesn’t suit you, Eleri,” her father comments as he leaves the office;  “I’m going to the golf club to meet Hywel.”   

"Boys' Club, is it?"

She assumes that it is a ‘Boys’ Club’ and is extremely irked.

"Which company has bought Brynawelon"

Outside APD, Ieuan is chatting on the phone and enquires, “Listen, which company has bought Brynawelon?”   

Jinx is watching

Jinx is watching from the door of his house as Ieuan continues, “No, I’ve never heard of them,” 

"Why aren't you working?"

but then his little chat is rudely interrupted by Howard, who wonders why Ieuan is not working in the shop. 

“I want some help unloading out the back,” he is told, 

"I have to go"

so has to terminate the call.   

"Have you got a minute, Ieuan?"

Jinx walks along to see him and asks if he has a minute.

“No,” replies Ieuan, but Jinx informs him that he had had a commission to paint Ifan Jones Evans of Radio Cymru;  he boasts that he is making a bit of a name for himself as an artist.

"I heard Anita is warming to the portrait"

“And I’ve heard that Anita is warming to the portrait,” he goes on, 

"I wouldn't go that far"

but Ieuan would not go that far.   “Kelly said it’s been on the wall for a week – so do you think you can give me that money back?”

"Work is calling!"

Ieuan excuses himself by pointing out that work is calling and hurries back into the shop

Cai has enjoyed his steak

At Y Felin, Cai has enjoyed his meal;  “Beautiful– that was just what I needed,” he says.   Lleucu imagined that he would be longing for a steak and Iolo asks what sort of food he is getting in the hostel.

“It’s all right – simple, cheap,” Cai replies, 

There is a knife missing . . .

then Lleucu discovers there is a knife missing, but her father is sure that it has not gone far.   

. . . and she thinks her father has it 

She accuses him, “You’ve taken it, haven’t you?”   Iolo does not think that she needs to panic, but she demands that her father empties his pocket.

He empties his pockets . . . 

As he is doing so, 

. . . and Iolo find the knife

Iolo discovers the missing knife on the floor, under the table;  she feels very embarrassed.   

"You need to trust me, monkey"

“You need to trust me, monkey,” says Cai and she escapes upstairs.

Siwsi rushes into APD

Siwsi rushes into APD, where Ieuan ask her if everything is all right;  she apologises that her car is in the garage and the bus did not turn up so she had to walk there.

"My generous nature"

“Right,” says Ieuan, “As Mathew’s away, I’m running the place and I want to make sure that the staff aren’t taking advantage of my generous nature – not that I’m saying you’re doing that.”

"Once I get Barbara back"

Siwsi promises that it will not happen again, adding, “Once I get Barbara back!   

"It's going to cost £500!"

“It’s going to cost £500 to fix!   They say she needs a new alternator.”

"I'll speak to my friend"

Howard offers to speak to a friend if she would like that;  “He’s a mechanic – he deals with tractors more than cars, but I’m sure he can give you an idea how much it should cost.”   

"That might be a good idea"

Siwsi regards that as a good idea.   

"To check that they're not overcharging you"

“It’s worth checking that they’re not overcharging you,” Howard adds.

"Wages might be a bit late this week"

Then Ieuan brings the bad news that her wages might be a bit late this week;  he is not happy about that and will try to sort it out as soon as possible.   

"I'm not going to work for free!"

Howard angrily announces that he is not going to work for free for anyone.

"Could you label these keys?"

Ieuan asks Siwsi if she will label some keys for him;  “Tamed want us to sort out some damp issue.”

Kelly comes in

Kelly arrives at the Quantum Hydro Works office, which now bears a number 22 on the door.   

"I thought you were going to say something"

“I was just wondering, were you going to say something earlier?   I thought you were going to say something when Jinx came over.”

"I'd appreciate your opinion"

“The point is, I’m working on this project to re-wild some of the land we’ve bought and I’d appreciate your opinion,” Brynmor tells her.

"Me?   Why?"

She immediately laughs at the suggestion, “Me?   Why?   I’m the one who usually causes problems for you.”   

"You're not afraid to give your opinion"

He replies that she is not afraid to give her opinion, so he would be grateful if she had the time.

"Entitled Eileen"

She enquires what his focus groups have said;  “No market research?   Come on, Brynmor – no way will entitled Eileen be happy.   I thought you were trying to keep people on side.   

"One – focus groups  . . ."

“I don’t know what I’m suggesting, but off the top of my head – step one, sort focus groups out ASAP.  

". . . two – grants to small businesses . . ."

Step two, offer grants to small businesses and show them that you’re not trying to take their livelihoods away with this place.   

". . . three – and I might be a bit biased . . ."

"And, step three – and I might be a bit biased – 

". . . don't undermine people's efforts"

“don't undermine people’s efforts to put carnivals on!”

"I do accept your point"

He informs her that was not him, but he does accept her point;  

"You need to really involve the community, all right?"

“You really need to involve the community, all right?   No offence, like, but offering Siôn White a translation job won’t do much to show people that you’re trying to appeal to the masses.   It’s obvious, isn’t it?”

"Dad, I have something to share with you"

At that moment, Eleri comes hurrying in;  “Dad, I have something to share with you.”   

Brynmor has some bad news

Brynmor’s phone sounds and he answers it, while Eleri wonders what Kelly is doing there.   Apparently it is bad news, with Brynmor saying that he is sorry to hear that 

"I cannot apologise enough!"

and cannot apologise enough.

"OK, see you, Brynmor"

Then he addresses Eleri;  Kelly takes this as her cue to leave.   

"Someone has been sharing sensitive information"

“One of ‘the company directors has heard that plots under an embargo are being discussed with a company from London – someone has been sharing sensitive information.”

"I was trying to do what you suggested"

She maintains that she was just trying to do what he suggested, but his view differs from this;  

"You've created a huge mess . . ."

“You’ve created a huge mess and now I’ve got a lot of phone calls to make.   

". . . just go home, Eleri"

“Just go home.”   

She is left with no choice  . . .

Eleri looks at him with confusion, then leaves the office.

. . . and goes straight to Jinx's . . .

There is a knock at the door of number 9 and Eleri marches in, taking off her coat 

. . . flopping on the sofa

and subsiding on the sofa.   Jinx can see that something is seriously wrong;  

"Do you want to talk about it?"

“Do you want to talk about it?”

She is not interested in what he says

She does not, so he continues that he has just emailed Ifan Jones Evans with the initial sketches.   She is not in the least interested 

"I need a fresh start, without Dad"

but complains, “I need a fresh start without Dad, the puppet master, trying to control everything.”

"Brynawelon are looking for a new manager"

Jinx tells her that Brynawelon are looking for a new manager;  “They’ve got a new owner or something – would you consider going into the care sector?”

"There's a lot of money to be made"

“Why would I want to look after old people?” she growls.   He pointed out that there is a lot of money to be made from the elderly.   “Since when have you been such a cynic?” she asks, 

She is walking all over him

“Go and make me a cup of tea, will you?” so he follows inatructions. 

"I'm sorry, Dad"

When Lleucu comes back downstairs, she apologises to her father, 

"I do trust you – I'm just worried:

but he tells her there is no need for that.   “I do trust you – I’m just worried.”

"I've made you feel that way"

He understands and hates the fact that he has made her think that way;  

"It wasn't you – it was the illness"

she insists that it was not him, but rather the illness.   Cai promises that things are different now;  he has had more time and more support and suggests that they try again tomorrow, as it has been a long day.   

Her father hugs her

He gives Lleucu a hug and then goes upstairs.   

Lleucu says she will do the same

She says that she will make a drink and then do the same.

"Are you all right?"

Lleucu sits down opposite Iolo, who asks if she is all right, but she has decided that she will not be going to bed;  

"I might as well stay here all night"

“I won’t be able to sleep, so I might as well stay down here all night.”

Kelly wants a G&T

Kelly walks into the Deri, where Brynmor is sitting at a table;  she asks for a G&T, 

"I'll get this, Kelly"

but he insists that he will pay.   

"Make it a double, then"

He wants to thank her for her comments earlier, so she decides that she might as well make it a double.

“It was common sense really,” she tells him.   

"I've spoken to the board about business grants"

He has spoken to the board about these business grants and they agree that it is worth doing, especially as  building work is about to start.   

"And Y March is top of the list, yeah?"

“And Y March is top of the list, yeah?” asks Kelly.

He points out that these things take time to set up, 

"Things are pretty promising"

“But I’d say that things are pretty promising,” and he invites her to join him at the table.

"Squash, please"

Siwsi has just come in and asks for a squash;  Howard notices her and comes across.   She asks him whether Mark or Dani have been there.   

"Do you have somewhere to stay tonight?"

He enquires whether she has somewhere to stay tonight, 

"I'll find somewhere"

and she replies that she will find somewhere.

Her card is accepted

There is a tense moment as she waits to see if her card has been accepted by the machine held by Simon,

"There's a spare room at Penrhewl"

then Howard reminds her that there is a spare room in Penrhewl if she wants it.

"How many times do I have to say it"

“How many times do I have to say it?   I’m fine, thanks,” she snarls at him.    He explains that he was only trying to help.   Then the barman sounds the bell for last orders 

Siwsi has a plan

and Siwsi looks at the keys given to her by Ieuan, now complete with a label.

Iolo finds Lleucu asleep

During the night, Iolo comes downstairs for a glass of water and finds Lleucu asleep on the sofa;  

"Are you going to stay up all night

“Are you going to stay up all night?” he asks.   

"Wake me if you need anything"

She is sure that she would not be able to sleep anyway;  he tells her to wake him if she needs anything, 

He starts going up

starts going up the stairs, then comes back.”

“Lleucs, he’ll be fine, OK?   You don’t need to do this – it’s a lot of strain for you.”   She regrets that she accused her father earlier 

"I didn't think it would be so much pressure"

and did not think it would be so much pressure having him back there.

"You don't need to take all the responsibility"

Iolo tell her that she does not need to take on all the responsibility herself, 

"Everything's changed"

but she argues, “Everything has changed – Siôn’s moved out, you’re busy with Greta – so there’s more falling on me.”

"We're all here for you"

Iolo assures her that she is not on her own – they are all here for her – and that includes Cai.   He knows things have been difficult recently, but he promises things are going to get better and wishes her good night.

"The board is very happy"

“Well, today has been a good day – the board is very happy with the suggestions, thanks to you,” says Brynmor, 

"I'm sure you would have thought of something"

but Kelly is sure that he would have thought of something.

"They were very keen to meet you"

“When I said that you put the ideas forward, they were very keen to meet you and hear what else you have to say,” he continues.

Kelly is very happy to tell them her ideas about wraps, “Or the latest going on with the Real Housewives – I’m sure they’ll be all ears!”

"Why are you putting yourself down like that?"

Brynmor wonders why she is putting herself down like that;  what she has to say are good things, “Not like some of the morons I have to work with!   Honestly, now.”

Kelly protests that he does not have to be so nice;  

"But you can carry on, if you want to"

“But you can carry on, like, if you want to.”

Siwsi is in the deli . . .

Siwsi has let herself into the deli after hours 

. . . putting her phone on charge . . .

and plugs in her phone to charge, 

. . . and settling down for the night

then settles down on the kitchen floor for the night.
