These parcels are getting too much for Colin

In the shop, Siôn is expecting a parcel to be left there for him, but Colin is going through all the parcels and is unable to find it.

"If I knew you were this busy . . ."

“If I knew that you were this busy, I would have sent it to the house,” Siôn apologises

"It's rather like Jenga at the moment"

and Colin maintains that it is rather like Jenga at the moment.

“It’s handy, though – you don’t know if you’ll be in or out these days, “Siôn goes on,

"Ah – Mr S White, esquire"

then Colin at last finds the small padded bag addressed to Mr S White esquire.

"You're not the one sending all these parcels?"

Britt has just come in and suspects that Siôn is the one sending all these parcels to Colin,  “AM Vargenne?”   Colin explains that someone is sending parcels to the shop non-stop – he has no idea who it is.

"They're all for AM Vargenne?"

Siôn is amazed that all of these boxes are for this AM Vargenne.

He looks at the address label

Colin has tried to find out where they are from, but there is no sender’s address.

"Someone is making fun of you, Colin"

“Ah, very clever,” says Siôn, pointing out to them that the name is the same as the words ‘Am Fargen’ in Welsh, which mean ‘What a Bargain’.   He believes that someone is making fun of Colin.

Colin is far from amused

Britt chuckles at the thought of this, but Colin is far from amused.

"And a cup of tea to go"

Howard is in the deli, ordering a cup of tea to go, when he notices Cai  sitting by the window with his laptop.

"It's nice to see you back"

“It’s nice to see you back,” he comments, “Are you back at work already?”

"I'm looking for work"

Cai surprises him by answering that he is looking for work.

Howard is surprised that he is not going back to teaching, but he says that he is considering his options;  “You’re not looking for another pair of hands at APD, are you?”

"That's up to Mathew, mate"

Howard would love to help but he cannot offer anyone a job without Mathew’s say-so.

“There’s a rumour that he is abroad, but no one knows where,” adds Howard and then his order is brought for him.

"Do you fancy sponsoring me?"

As he is about to leave, Cai asks if he fancies sponsoring him for this ‘danceathon’, to raise money in memory of Seren.

Howard has £3 in change

Howard checks the change in his hand and sponsors him for £3.   He is invited to join Cai in this venture, but is not keen.

“The last time I danced was on a table in the YFC –

"I broke the table and they kicked me out!"

“I broke the table and they kicked me out!”

She does not look happy

Gaynor looks at herself in the mirror as she and Ffion are waiting for the arrival of Colin;  when he finally appears, he is very apologetic,

"Traffic, trolls and toilet paper!"

listing, “Traffic, trolls and lots of toilet paper – what a combination!” as the reason.

"You need to learn to manage your time better"

Gaynor insists that he needs to learn to manage his time better;  he wonders how it went in Barcelona, asking whether they have finished that church yet.   Gaynor does not have time to discuss it.

"Welcome"

She is welcomed to the shop and explains that they are the wedding party

"We would like to browse"

and they would like to browse.

"We have a lot of work to do"

Right, focus – we have a lot of work to do,” Gaynor stresses.

Colin wonders what sort of style she is looking for;

"Something tasteful, obviously"

she replies, “Something tasteful, obviously – nothing over-the-top, but not too understated either.”   She has no idea what she wants for Ffion,

"I shall know it when I see it"

but maintains that she will know it when she sees it.

"I don't think it goes with my alluring dark eyes!"

Ffion picks up one dress, covered in sequins and says that she can see Colin wearing this;  “I don’t think bling goes with my alluring dark eyes,” is his amused reply.

"Put it back, Colin!"

Gaynor instructs him to put it back, as this is not the place to mess around,

"This is going to be a tedious experience"

urging them to concentrate.

What is Olivia doing at Y Felin?

At Y Felin, Olivia slips in through the back door

She looks around . . .

and looks around cautiously to make sure no-one is there.

. . . especially at Greta's photo

She notices the photographs of Greta and smiles.

Colin takes advantage of the free drink

As Colin helps himself to a drink, he asks Gaynor if she is ready,

"You women have it sussed"

then comments to Ffion, “You women have it sussed – you know how to plan a good day out, fair play.”

Here comes the first dress

Gaynor appears, looking miserable, wearing a dress;  he comments,

"Oh, Gaynor, you're a picture!"

“Oh, Gaynor, you’re a picture, isn’t she, Ffion?”

"Is it a bit too low-cut?"

She suspects that it is a bit too low-cut,

"Tom might have a job concentrating on his vows"

and Colin comments that Tom might have a job concentrating on his vows.

"It doesn't matter what I think"

Then she asks for Ffion’s opinion;  “It doesn’t matter what I think – it’s your big day.”

"Almost as good as on our wedding day"

Colin rather inadvisedly comes out with, “You look almost as good as you did on our wedding day,” which was obviously the wrong thing to say,

Obviously the wrong thing to say

as now Gaynor does not like the dress.

Siôn is at APD

Siôn is at APD, making a purchase from Howard, who gives him a message,

"Tell Cai I've sent Mathew a text about him working here"

“If you see Cai, tell him I’ve sent Mathew a text, but I haven’t had a reply – about working here.   He’s going to stop teaching, from what I understand.”

"That's the first I've heard about it"

This is the first that Siôn has heard about it, but he is grateful for the information.

"Do you sell ladders?"

Then Mark comes in, asking if they sell ladders, so Howard directs him out the back

"About £150"

and estimates that one suitable for cleaning windows is about £150.

"Can you do a discount for a friend?"

The extension has jammed on Mark’s ladder, but he is very reluctant to spend £150 on a new one as he is trying to save.

“Can’t you do a discount for a friend?” begs Mark;

"Sorry – that's up to Mathew"

he is told that is up to Mathew.

"I'm desperate!"

“Please – I’m desperate, OK?   This is my livelihood now that I’ve been suspended from work.   If I want to downgrade the charge to ABH, I have to find the best lawyer –and they don’t come cheap.”

"Have you heard about these lock-ups?"

Howard has an idea;  “Look, a friend sent me this – have you heard about these lock-ups?   They’re old storage units full of stuff – if the owner doesn’t want them, they go to auction.”

Mark is eager to find out what sort of stuff,

"You don't know what's in it . . ."

but is told, “You don’t know,” so he imagines that it might be full of junk.

". . . it might be treasure!"

“Or full of treasure!” says Howard, “I haven’t bid on one yet, but I’ll go 50-50 with you and share the profits – come on, every successful business man has to take risks.

"Speculate to accumulate"

“Speculate to accumulate – that’s what they say.”   Mark is still dubious about the idea.

Olivia pockets one of Greta's toys

At Y Felin, Olivia is looking at Greta’s toys, one of which she stuffs into her pocket when she hears the door open.

Cai arrives home

It is Cai and he is very surprised to see her there;

"What on earth are you doing here"

“What on earth are you doing here?”

"I know this looks a bit weird"

“I know this looks a bit weird,” she begins

"How did you get in?"

and then he wants to know how she got in.

She comes up with an unlikely tale

She spins some tale about meeting his daughter, Lleucu,

"But Lleucu is at school"

but then, when he protests that she is at school, changes the story that she had a free lesson so she popped home and let Olivia in.

"How are you settling in?"

“It’s lucky, isn’t it, really?   How are you settling in?”

"What on earth are you doing here?"

“Listen, I don’t want to sound rude, but what on earth are you doing here?” he demands and she says that she is missing him, then realises that he is freaked out.

"It's just rather a shock"

“I would have phoned but I haven’t got your number, she says.   He admits that it is nice to see her, but it is just rather a shock.   However, now she is there and he is starving,

"Would you like some lunch and a catch-up?"

he asks if she would like some lunch and a chance to catch up.   She would indeed like that.

Ffion is tired of this already

Ffion is getting tired of waiting for Gaynor;  “I don’t think I can afford to spend any more time here,” she groans, but Colin points out that there is a pile of outfits still to try.

"Well, this isn't right, is it?"

Gaynor approaches them once again, grumbling, “Well, this isn’t right, is it?”

"Have you thought of other colours?"

Ffion enquires if she has thought about other colours;  “I went to a wedding once and the bride was in red – it was gorgeous.”

"I don't think Tom would like red"

Gaynor does not think that Tom would like red, so Ffion suggests that the first dress she tried was lovely.

"I don't want lovely – I want absolutely perfect!"

“I don’t want lovely – I want it to be absolutely perfect!”

"You're bound to find the perfect dress"

Colin tries to calm things down, assuring her that they are bound to find the perfect dress, then he notices one with sequins, about which he has a good feeling,

That one is not right, either

but she simply stalks off.

Colin looks at his watch . . .

“I had no idea these things could be such a headache,” he complains, looking at his watch.   Ffion volunteers to stay with Gaynor so he can leave;

. . . and he cannot get out of there fast enough

he cannot get out of the place fast enough.

"That sounds really amazing"

As they eat their lunch, Olivia is intrigued by this ‘danceathon’, which she says sounds really amazing;

"Seren was the daughter of Dani Monk"

he explains that Seren was the daughter of Dani Monk from the village?   Cai suggests that Olivia will have to join the dancing for an hour or two.

"You'll get plenty of help from Lleucu and Greta"

“Although I’m sure you’ll get plenty of help from Lleucu and Greta,” she imagines.   He is not so sure, as he is not seen them for a while.

"Iolo and Greta went to Longleat"

“Iolo and Greta went to Longleat for a long weekend and they weren’t back until late last night.”

"It sounds like Great is spoilt rotten"

“It sounds like Greta is spoilt rotten,” Olivia comments

"Yes, Iolo is a good father"

and Cai agrees that Iolo is a good father.   Then he is asked whether Greta goes to the all-age school;  “She seems like a very happy little girl,” pointing out that she has been looking at the photos.

"It's great that you're settling in so well"

“Well, it’s great to see you settling in so well,” she says and he admits that now he is finding his feet again and considering following a new career path as well.   He receives a text message, from Siôn, who wants a chat with him.

"I hope I haven't upset you, calling like this"

“Well, I hope I haven’t upset you, calling like this,” Olivia tells him.

He is pleased to have the company of someone who understands,

"Can I call again?"

so she enquires whether she can call again, but he asks that she should give some warning first next time;  “You’ve got my phone number now.”   She leaves the house.

The boxes are taking over Colin's life

Colin is stacking up more boxes in the MFC flat;

"You can't bring any more in here!"

“You’re joking – no, you can’t bring more of those in here, Col!”

"Only until I fund out whose they are"

He only wants them there until he finds out whose they are – and he does not want Eileen to see the mess and stop the enterprise.

“What about us, then?   We are trying to de-clutter – not re-clutter.   I’m not sure you should store them at home, because it could look as if you’re stealing them.”

Britt receives a text

He is becoming angry now, as Britt receives a text message.

£230!"

“Well, well!” she exclaims, “£320 – that’s better than a kick in the you-know-what!   The storage auction – we can contribute to Gwern’s electric bike now, – thanks to AM Vargenne!”

"Hang on – AM Vargenne?"

Colin looks puzzled and the mystery deepens.

"We own a lock-up!"

At the bar in the Deri, Mark and Howard are celebrating the fact that they have won the auction.   “I didn’t think it would be so easy – we own a lock up!” Mark laughs,

There is a new barmaid in the Deri

as the new barmaid brings their drinks.

"Not the lock-up – just the contents"

Howard points out that they do not own the lock up, but just the contents;  “Why would you want to own a shed?   It’s what’s inside is most important – that’s what Mam always said.   It might be full of cash.”

"I've just sold the contents of a lock-up"

Then Britt comes in, speaking on the phone, “I’ve just sold the contents of a lock-up on your website and I was wondering when the money will be transferred.”

"We've just bought a load of Garry Monk's stuff!"

As he takes the drinks over to their table, Mark is groaning, “Oh, no – we’ve just bought a load of Garry Monk’s stuff!

"Half of that stuff will be stolen!"

“Half of that stuff will be stolen, knowing him – what are we going to do now?”

Cai is on the receiving end . . .

Cai is at the shop flat, receiving a lecture from Siôn.

. . . of one of Siôn's lectures

“Teaching is a reliable career – a steady income, a tidy pension.”

"There's more to life than money, Siôn"

Cai maintains that there is more to life than money;  he is very grateful for Siôn’s help in paying for the treatment and promises to repay every penny;

"How – through gardening?"

“How – through gardening?” Siôn demands.

“Don’t be so patronising!”

"I hope you haven't handed in your resignation"

Siôn hopes that he has not handed in his resignation,

"I was going to sit down this afternoon"

and Cai says that he was going to sit down this afternoon.

"Not everybody can teach"

“Not everybody can teach, Cai, but you can.”

Cai insists that he needs to follow his heart and that is not in the classroom any more;  he has to work out where his heart is now.

"Are you sure you're not just avoiding the past?"

“Are you sure you’re not just avoiding the past?” he is asked, but Cai argues that he knows what feels right.   “Well, I think you’re making a huge mistake.”   Cai replies that they will see.

"I'll go home on my own"

It appears that Gaynor has now given up trying on dresses and tells Ffion that she will go back home on her own;

"Are you sure you like this sort of dress?"

“Are you sure you like this type of dress?” asks Ffion

"Yom says green suits me"

and Gaynor sighs that Tom says that green suits her.

“Well, there we are, then – you don’t have to stick to tradition.

"Is everything all right between you and him?"

“Don’t think that I’m trying to interfere, but is everything all right between you and Tom?   You haven’t been yourself all day – and you haven’t said a word about Barcelona.”

"Jetlag, probably"

Gaynor replies that she is just tired;  “Jetlag, probably.”   Ffion regards this strange, since she only went to Spain.

"Tom and I understand each other"

“Look, Tom and I understand each other,” Gaynor continues, without much conviction,

"We've become very close – in a deeper way"

“And over the last few weeks, we’ve become very close – in a deeper way.”

Ffion knows better than that

Ffion exhibits some doubt about that, as Gaynor adds, “He’s a very complex person – and there’s so much more to him than people realise – of course, in a good way.

"He wants everything to be perfect"

“He’s so protective of me and he just wants everything to be right, for everything to be perfect.”

"Tom is a very lucky man"

“And you’re worried that you haven’t found the perfect dress?   Well, I think a green dress would suit you down to the ground – Tom is a very lucky man.”

"You're a great friend, Ffion"

Gaynor is very pleased to hear that and describes Ffion as a great friend.

"We bought the lock-up . . ."

In the Deri, Mark asks Britt if they can have a word with her;  “We bought the lock-up –

". . . and we want our money back!"

“and we want our money back.”

"Sorry, boys"

She points out that a bid is a bid and is sorry that nothing can be done.

“The thing is, we didn’t know it was full of Garry’s stuff and I can’t afford to handle stolen goods at the moment, so just pay the money back, yeah?”

"They're my things, not Garry's"

Britt regards that as very rude, emphasising that they are her things and not Garry’s, so he has nothing to worry about.   Howard is eager to find out what is in it, but she is rather vague, describing the contents as a bit of this and a bit of that;  “You know how things accumulate over the years – so no more asking for your money back, all right?”

Colin comes storming in

Colin has just come in, so she calls him over;

"Guess who bought the lock-up?"

“Guess who bought the lock-up?   Bill and Ben here!”

"So you're AM Fargen, are you?"

“Oh, right – so you’re ‘AM’, are you?” he snarls, “Am Fargen!”   Your parcels have been mounting up in the shop!

"You need a lie down, Col"

Mark pretends that he does not know what Colin is talking about and suggests that he could do with a lie down.

"I'm totally Compos Mentos!"

“Listen, good boy, I’m totally Compos Mentos, right?   Someone is taking advantage of the shop – and they won’t get away with it!”

"Go and get a drink, Col"

Britt tells him to go and get a drink.

Olivia is near the school . . .

Olivia is loitering outside the school,

. . . where she watches the children

watching the children playing;

She looks at Greta's soft toy

she takes out of her pocket the soft toy she had stolen earlier

What is she planning?

and looks at it, smiling.
