Tyler is working at APD

Tyler is putting items on the shelf at APD when Iolo comes in;  he asks if Tyler is OK and says that Greta has been asking about him a lot.   

"I was thinking of telling Greta you could come over"

“I was thinking, after our chat last week, of telling her that you could come over – perhaps tonight?”

"I'll come over after we close"

Tyler says that he will be at the shop until they close, but will come over after that;  

"Right, I'll text you"

Iolo will text him, 

His happiness will be short-lived

and he looks very happy.

"Why aren't you answering my messages?"

In the Deri, Gwyneth approaches Garry and demands, “Why aren’t you answering my messages?”   

"I'm worried about Gwern"

Garry replies that he is worried about Gwern, as the boy was very quiet this morning.   “He’s quiet every morning – he’s a teenager, he’ll be all right,” she replies, 

"What did you do with Dylan?"

“What did you do with Dylan?”

"I sorted things"

“I sorted things,” he tells her, 

"How?"

 when she wants to know the details, repeats, “Like I said, I’ve sorted it – that’s all you need to know!”   

"You're working tonight!"

Then he adds that Gwyneth will be working tonight, and will accept no argument, insisting that it is the least she can do, and he walks out of the pub.

"No luck at Tomos ac Ellis, then?"

Alaz is looking at the situations vacant column of the paper when Colin remarks, “I noticed the job advert was still up in Tomos ac Ellis – no luck, then?”

"It's because I am asylum seeker"

“Mr Griffiths said no,” Alaz replies, “I think it’s because I am asylum seeker.”   Mathew has just come downstairs from the flat, and advises him not to take it personally, as Griffiths does not like anyone.

"Nobody likes him, either"

Colin adds, “Nobody likes him, either,” then takes some empty boxes out the back.   

"I have had enough"

Alaz is looking miserable and tells Mathew that he is OK, but has had enough.

“I like Eileen, but I want to make money – and I don’t want to live on the . . . farm,” 

He does not like farmyard smells

which he obviously regards as a smelly environment.   “But no experience, CV no good, no chance.”   

"Have you any skills?"

Mathew points out that these things take time, and wonders if he has other skills from other work.   

"My dad, he . . . electrician"

“My Dad, he . . . electrician,” Alaz answers, “I learn some from him.”   Mathew finds that interesting, 

"Yes, OK, Eileen"

and at that moment Colin comes back, speaking on the phone.

"Dinner will be half an hour"

“Eileen says that dinner will be ready in half an hour on the dot,” he informs Alaz, 

Alaz is not enthralled

who does not look particularly pleased to hear it.

"Gareth Hughes has a virus . . . on his laptop"

At Llwyncelyn, Gaynor wonders where Hywel is going;  “Gareth Hughes has a virus,” he says, and she refers to him as a creep.   “On his laptop,” Hywel explains, 

"I wouldn't like to see his search history"

and she would not like to see his search history.   After he has sorted that out, Hywel will be going directly to the Deri, for the stag do Jinx has organised for Jason.

He tries to dismiss the phone calls

She looks anxious, and he appreciates she is nervous about those phone calls;  “That’s what they want,” but she would like to know who ‘they’ are.   “John Jones – kids, perhaps – someone we shouldn’t worry about,” he tells her.   

She checks the phone again

When he has gone she checks that the batteries are still out of the phone.

Garry is keeping watch

Garry is peering from the window of the Deri flat when Tyler comes in;  

"I was only two minutes"

I told you to come straight over when I texted,” he snarls, and Tyler protests that he was only two minutes as he closes the door.   

Four minutes and thirty-six seconds"

“Four minutes and thirty-six seconds,” Garry corrects him.

"All right – I'm here now"

“All right – I’m here now – is it time?”   Garry confirmed that it is;  

"The first part of the job has to be done today"

he has just spoken to the client and the first part of the job needs to be done today.

“A car near Cheltenham,” he continues and Tyler is concerned about stealing a car.   “You’ve stolen before,” he is reminded, 

"Why Cheltenham?

but protests that he has not stolen a car, and wants to know why Cheltenham.

"It's a very specific car"

“Because that’s what the client wants – it’s a very specific car.”   Tyler is not sure about this, so Garry demands, “What did you think you’d steal?   Pick and mix from Eileen’s shop?   Are you forgetting how much you’re being paid?”

"You'll be back by bedtime"

“I’m supposed to be meeting Greta later on,” says Tyler, but is reminded that he is only going to Cheltenham, and will be back by bedtime.

“Right, a bloke is picking you up with all the details in a quarter of an hour.”   

"I haven't finished my shift yet"

Tyler points out that he has not finished his shift yet, 

"Stuff your shift – quarter of an hour!"

and is told, “Stuff your shift – quarter of an hour!   Go and get changed before he comes – and leave your phone – I don’t want anyone tracking you.”

Off goes Tyler to do his bidding

As Tyler leaves the flat, Garry looks very concerned.

Trust Amanda to lower the tone of things

At Bryntirion, Amanda arrives, carrying a blow-up doll face with a mask of Jason’s face, which she regards a huge joke.   This is not shared by Anita;  

"What on earth are we supposed to do with that

“What on earth are we supposed to do with that?”  she snarls, “Kelly wants something classy – we’ve prepared afternoon tea, with Prosecco.”

Amanda says that she has some straws in the shape of a . . . but is forbidden by Anita to bring them anywhere near the glasses.   

Diane is also not impressed

Diane is similarly disgusted, recalling that they wore feather boas back in the day, and Amanda thinks they should have got one of those.   Anita has bought Kelly a tasteful veil.

"The food looks lovely"

Amanda says that the food looks lovely, and is helping herself to some when they hear Kelly coming in.   

"Happy hen do, Kelly!"

“Happy hen do, Kel!” her mother shouts, and goes to fetch the blow-up doll.

"Are you ready to spend the rest of your life with him?"

“Are you ready to spend the rest of your life with him?”   Kelly was simply expecting a few drinks, but they have gone to a lot of effort.   Anita insists that they are doing it right.

"Someone special like Jason"

“Not everyone gets the honour of marrying someone special like Jason,” Diane boasts, and Amanda comments that if she was a few years younger she would not mind . . . 

"Zip it, Mam!"

but is cut off in mid-sentence by Kelly’s angry shout, indicating that she should ‘zip it’.   

The alcohol starts flowing

They start drinking.

"Have you heard from Tyler?"

At APD, Jason asks if Mathew has heard from Tyler;  “No, he’s still not answering his phone,” is the reply, and Jason would like some help, 

"I'm in danger of missing my own stag do"

as he is in danger of being late for his own stag do at this rate.

"We need to discuss something first`"

“We need to discuss something first,” says Mathew, and Jason maintains that if it is anything to do with work, he does not want to know, as he will be going home shortly.

"I need to discuss staff with you"

“Please, I need to discuss staff with you,” Mathew continues, 

"Staff – what staff?"

and Jason wonders what staff that would be, as they have not seen Eifion since Christmas and Tyler has a habit of disappearing without explanation.

“Exactly – and I have the answer to that problem,” Mathew insists, 

"An apprentice – and I know just the man"

“An apprentice – and I know just the man.”

He is about to leave his phone behind . . .

Tyler hurries downstairs at number 7, and is about to put his phone into the drawer under the television, 

. . . when a message appears 

but as he does so a message appears, informing him that Iolo is picking up Greta now, and he can come over any time tonight.   

Tyler leaves the house

puts the phone away and leaves the house.

Alaz arrives . . .

As they are waiting at the Deri, Alaz comes in 

. . . and is introduced to Jason

and they welcome him;  “I’ll get straight to it – 

"How would you like to work for us as an apprentice?"

“how would you like to work for us at APD as an apprentice?” asks Mathew.   

"What is apprentice?"

Alaz has not come across this word, 

"You learn as you work"

so it is explained, “You learn as you work – we would put you on a course where you would learn to be an electrician, like your father.”

"You will pay me to be apprentice"

“And you will pay me to be apprentice?” asks Alaz, who seems incredulous.   He is told that it will not be much money to start with, but as he gets better, so will the money – there are a lot of things to sort out that they just wanted to know if he was willing.   “Yes, thank you very much!” he exclaims.

"You could come and live with me"

“And there’s one more thing – I’m looking for someone to live with me, and I remember you said that the farm was smelly, so perhaps you could come and live with me,” Mathew goes on.   

"His house is also quite smelly"

Jason is quick to point out that Mathew’s house is also quite smelly, but Alaz is very pleased and shake hands on the deal.   

"I buy you a pint?"

Alaz offers them a pint, but they agree on a half;  

"Half pint, two, please"

he asks Geraint, “Half pint, two, please.”

"Snog, Marry, Avoid"

At Bryntirion, Amanda wants to play ‘Snog, Marry, Avoid’ and suggests, “Mathew, Tyler and Jinx.”   

Kelly applies her mascara

Meanwhile Kelly is applying mascara, as Diane imagines that she might marry Mathew and snog Tyler, definitely.   

"You'd pick Tyler over Jinx?"

“You’d pick Tyler over Jinx?” gasps Amanda, and Diane maintains that she does not like men who wear cardigans.   “Dai wears cardigans,” she is reminded and Amanda says that Kelly loves cardigans.

"No, I don't!"

“No, I don’t!” she snaps, but her mother points out that she did when she went out with him, and that is dismissed, “Well, that was years ago!”   

"Well, I'd snog any of them"

When Anita comes in, she appears to have already been drinking and decides that she would snog any of the three.

Kelly finds this rather distasteful, 

"We'll have a shot before we go"

and Anita suggests that they have a shot before going;  “We’re going on a hen night – we can’t be sensible!”   

"No more Prosecco for Auntie Neet"

Kelly rules that there will be no more Prosecco for Auntie Neet.

However, as Anita pours herself another drink, 

Mathew is making punch

Mathew is making punch at the shop flat;  

"So he's moving here to live with you?"

“So he’s moving here to live with you and you’re giving him a job?” says Siôn.   If everything works out, that is the plan, and 

"You should be doing this, Jinx"

Mathew considers that as best man, Jinx should be doing all this.

"Ffion warned me –no parties!"

“No – Ffion warned me not to have parties before she left,” he replies, and then Jason comes into the room, 

"I'm not going to the Deri dressed like this!"

protesting that no way is he going to the Deri dressed like this.   They seem highly amused by his appearance, and Jinx explains, “I didn’t have time to go to town 

"This was all they had at Apêl Maenan"

“and this is all they had in the Maenan Appeal.”

"After the third, it's quite nice"

Mathew gives him a drink, which Siôn says is disgusting at first, but after the third it is quite nice.   Apparently Hywel is meeting them in the Deri, 

"Iolo is looking after Greta"

but Iolo cannot come as he is looking after Greta.   Mark thought that Tyler would be here, but Jason snarls, “Don’t talk about him – Tyler has let APD down again – he’s disappeared again.”

“Iolo said that he wouldn’t answer his phone,” comments Siôn, 

"I'd better go and check that Tyler is OK"

and Mark thinks he had better go home to check that Tyler is OK;  he will catch them in the Deri later.   

"You've got a lot of catching up to do, Jase"

They encourage Jason to have a few more shots, as he has a lot of catching up to do.

Gaynor takes one of Esther's pictures . . .

At Llwyncelyn, Gaynor finds one of Esther’s pictures, 

. . . and puts it on the fridge

and goes to put it up on the fridge;  

Her phone rings

she takes a photo of it with her phone and is rather shocked when it rings.   

She hears a strange voice . . .

She answers, but the only sound is of heavy breathing;  then there is what sounds like a recorded voice which says, “Are you OK, lovely?   Would you like some help?”   

. . . and is scared

She looks terrified at the phone and wonders what is going on.

"I've brought this all the way from Merthyr"

The hen party has adjourned to the Deri and Amanda protests that she has brought the blowup doll all the way from Merthyr.   

"I have to think of the other customers"

Gwyneth, behind the bar, replies that she has to think of the other customers, and at that moment the stag party members arrive.

"What are the girls doing here?"

“What are the girls doing here?” Jinx demands, and Mathew assures Anita that she definitely said that they were not going to the Deri.   

"There's no need to argue"

Jason insists that there is no need to argue 

"Yay!   Kelly!"

and greets Kelly,

"What are you supposed to be wearing?"

 who wonders what he is supposed to be wearing.   Jason kisses his mother, 

Kelly wishes she was anywhere but here

and Kelly wishes that she was not there at all.

Greta looks at photos

Greta is looking at a photograph album, particularly at a picture of her at a very young age with Iolo and Tyler, 

"Dadi!"

and when asked what she is looking at, shouts, “Dadi!”

“You’re really looking forward to seeing him, aren’t you?” says Iolo, 

"I hope he turns up"

and then mutters, “I hope he turns up before you go to bed.”   

She is watching the door

Greta looks expectantly at the door, 

Yet another unanswered call

as Iolo rings Tyler’s number yet again, 

Greta continues waiting

but is told to leave a message after the tone.

Some singing has broken out

The atmosphere in the Deri is becoming rather raucous with the two parties singing heartily, 

♫ “Despite everyone and everything, we’re still here!” ♫  

"It's your turn to sing now" 

Anita tells Jason and Kelly that it is now their turn to sing, 

"I can't sing"

but Kelly insists that she cannot sing, although Jason maintains that she has the voice of an angel, and Anita describes her as ‘Kelly Minogue’.

“And he’s your Jason Donovan,” she adds, 

"Oh, all right, then – go one!"

so Kelly decides she is going to sing after all.   Jason thanks Jinx for organising this, but he is looking increasingly fed up with it.

"How lucky am I?"

“Look at her – isn’t she gorgeous?” Jason asks, “How lucky am I?”   

"You're a very lucky man"

Jinx agrees that he is very lucky man, and as he and Kelly look at each other, 

"I'm going home`'

Jinx decides that he is going home as he does not feel very well.

The blow-up doll is soon discarded . . .

Siôn is sitting on one of the sofas, still drinking, alongside the blow-up doll, 

. . . in favour of Amanda

which he pushes out of the way when he sees Amanda approaching.

♫"You were in my heart"♫

Meanwhile Kelly and Jason are singing, ♫“You were in my heart.”♫.   

"Really passionate and sexy"

Amanda says that she enjoyed Siôn’s singing, describing him as ‘really passionate’ and ‘really sexy’.

"People have said I have on-stage charisma"

“A lot of people have said that I have on-stage charisma,” he agrees, “Like Osian Candelas.” [A Welsh Indie Rock Band]  

Amanda jumps on him, to Anita's disgust

She suddenly seizes him and enthusiastically kisses him, with her sister demanding what the hell she thinks she is doing.   

"It must be the new aftershave"

“It must be the new aftershave,” suggests Siôn.

"She's just desperate!"

Anita’s explanation is that Amanda is desperate, and is going to ruin tonight;  “You know he’s my ex – and tonight is Kelly’s night,” she moans, and is told not to be so dramatic.

"If he was the last man on earth!"

“You’ve said loads of times that you wouldn’t get back with Siôn if he was the last man on earth!” counters Amanda, 

Anita storms off . . . 

and Anita is determined that she is going home.   

. . . leaving them to resume

As soon as she has gone Amanda kisses Siôn again.

Gaynor sits on the stairs

When Hywel returns to Llwyncelyn, Gaynor is sitting anxiously on the stairs;  “Thank goodness you’re back!”   He wonders why all the lights in the house are on, 

"There is an energy crisis, you know"

reminding her of the energy crisis

"I've just had a very odd phone call"

“I’ve just had a very odd phone call,” she tells him, “On my mobile – I’m not sure what they said – some man asking if I wanted help – I’m calling the police.”

"Don't you think you're overreacting?"

Hywel thinks that she is overreacting, but she regards this as harassment;  “It’s not fair that someone out there has my number and I have no idea who they are – 

"I have to phone the police"

“I have to phone the police!”

Jinx is back home . . .

Back at Cysgod y Glyn, 

. . . looking at Kelly with Jason

Jinx looks at a photo of Kelly and Jason taken at the party 

Has he made a decision?

and looks as if he has reached a conclusion.

"What sort of time do you call this, Tyler?"

Iolo is still trying to contact Tyler when he hears the door open;  “What sort of time do you call this, Tyler?” he demands, 

It is Mark

and then finds that it is Mark.

“He was supposed to come and see Greta,” Iolo explains, 

"His phone, with unread messages"

and Mark has found his phone, containing unread messages from Iolo and missed calls from several people.   

"Why did he leave his phone?"

“Why did he leave his phone?” asks Iolo, 

"Something is seriously wrong"

and Mark is worried that there is something seriously wrong.
