Garry replies that he is worried about Gwern, as the boy was very quiet this morning. “He’s quiet every morning – he’s a teenager, he’ll be all right,” she replies,

"I sorted things" |
“I sorted things,” he tells her,

"How?" |
when she wants to know the details, repeats, “Like I said, I’ve sorted it – that’s all you need to know!”

Then he adds that Gwyneth will be working tonight, and will accept no argument, insisting that it is the least she can do, and he walks out of the pub.

Alaz is looking at the situations vacant column of the paper when Colin remarks, “I noticed the job advert was still up in Tomos ac Ellis – no luck, then?”

"It's because I am asylum seeker" |
“Mr Griffiths said no,” Alaz replies, “I think it’s because I am asylum seeker.” Mathew has just come downstairs from the flat, and advises him not to take it personally, as Griffiths does not like anyone.

Colin adds, “Nobody likes him, either,” then takes some empty boxes out the back.

"I have had enough" |
Alaz is looking miserable and tells Mathew that he is OK, but has had enough.
“I like Eileen, but I want to make money – and I don’t want to live on the . . . farm,”

He does not like farmyard smells |
which he obviously regards as a smelly environment. “But no experience, CV no good, no chance.”

Mathew points out that these things take time, and wonders if he has other skills from other work.

“My Dad, he . . . electrician,” Alaz answers, “I learn some from him.” Mathew finds that interesting,

and at that moment Colin comes back, speaking on the phone.

“Eileen says that dinner will be ready in half an hour on the dot,” he informs Alaz,

who does not look particularly pleased to hear it.

At Llwyncelyn, Gaynor wonders where Hywel is going; “Gareth Hughes has a virus,” he says, and she refers to him as a creep. “On his laptop,” Hywel explains,

and she would not like to see his search history. After he has sorted that out, Hywel will be going directly to the Deri, for the stag do Jinx has organised for Jason.

He tries to dismiss the phone calls |
She looks anxious, and he appreciates she is nervous about those phone calls; “That’s what they want,” but she would like to know who ‘they’ are. “John Jones – kids, perhaps – someone we shouldn’t worry about,” he tells her.

When he has gone she checks that the batteries are still out of the phone.

Garry is peering from the window of the Deri flat when Tyler comes in;

I told you to come straight over when I texted,” he snarls, and Tyler protests that he was only two minutes as he closes the door.

“Four minutes and thirty-six seconds,” Garry corrects him.

"All right – I'm here now" |
“All right – I’m here now – is it time?” Garry confirmed that it is;

he has just spoken to the client and the first part of the job needs to be done today.
“A car near Cheltenham,” he continues and Tyler is concerned about stealing a car. “You’ve stolen before,” he is reminded,

but protests that he has not stolen a car, and wants to know why Cheltenham.

"It's a very specific car" |
“Because that’s what the client wants – it’s a very specific car.” Tyler is not sure about this, so Garry demands, “What did you think you’d steal? Pick and mix from Eileen’s shop? Are you forgetting how much you’re being paid?”

“I’m supposed to be meeting Greta later on,” says Tyler, but is reminded that he is only going to Cheltenham, and will be back by bedtime.
“Right, a bloke is picking you up with all the details in a quarter of an hour.”

Tyler points out that he has not finished his shift yet,

and is told, “Stuff your shift – quarter of an hour! Go and get changed before he comes – and leave your phone – I don’t want anyone tracking you.”

As Tyler leaves the flat, Garry looks very concerned.

Trust Amanda to lower the tone of things |
At Bryntirion, Amanda arrives, carrying a blow-up doll face with a mask of Jason’s face, which she regards a huge joke. This is not shared by Anita;

“What on earth are we supposed to do with that?” she snarls, “Kelly wants something classy – we’ve prepared afternoon tea, with Prosecco.”
Amanda says that she has some straws in the shape of a . . . but is forbidden by Anita to bring them anywhere near the glasses.

Diane is similarly disgusted, recalling that they wore feather boas back in the day, and Amanda thinks they should have got one of those. Anita has bought Kelly a tasteful veil.

Amanda says that the food looks lovely, and is helping herself to some when they hear Kelly coming in.

“Happy hen do, Kel!” her mother shouts, and goes to fetch the blow-up doll.

At APD, Jason asks if Mathew has heard from Tyler; “No, he’s still not answering his phone,” is the reply, and Jason would like some help,

“We need to discuss something first,” says Mathew, and Jason maintains that if it is anything to do with work, he does not want to know, as he will be going home shortly.

and Jason wonders what staff that would be, as they have not seen Eifion since Christmas and Tyler has a habit of disappearing without explanation.

so it is explained, “You learn as you work – we would put you on a course where you would learn to be an electrician, like your father.”

“And you will pay me to be apprentice?” asks Alaz, who seems incredulous. He is told that it will not be much money to start with, but as he gets better, so will the money – there are a lot of things to sort out that they just wanted to know if he was willing. “Yes, thank you very much!” he exclaims.

Meanwhile Kelly is applying mascara, as Diane imagines that she might marry Mathew and snog Tyler, definitely.

“You’d pick Tyler over Jinx?” gasps Amanda, and Diane maintains that she does not like men who wear cardigans. “Dai wears cardigans,” she is reminded and Amanda says that Kelly loves cardigans.

“No, I don’t!” she snaps, but her mother points out that she did when she went out with him, and that is dismissed, “Well, that was years ago!”

so Kelly decides she is going to sing after all. Jason thanks Jinx for organising this, but he is looking increasingly fed up with it.
