Mark is lounging on the sofa

Mark, in his increasingly unshaven state, is watching the television when Tyler comes downstairs;  

'I've just cleaned here"

“I’ve just cleaned here – and you’re back on the sofa again!” he complains.

“Sorry for trying to relax in my own home,” says Mark, “Aren’t you working today?”   

Tyler has a phone message

Tyler receives a message on his phone which he finds concerning, and snaps that he does not know if he will be working or not.

"I've lived with my mother long enough"

Mark says that he will go out;  “I’ve lived with my mother long enough to know when I’m not welcome!   

"Perhaps you'll be in a better mood"

“Perhaps you’ll be in a better mood when I come back.”

Tyler has been summoned to the garage

Tyler gets out his phone again and looks at the message from Garry;  ‘I’ll be in the garage in an hour’.

"That's the last of the invitations"

At Bryntirion, Jason is putting the last of the invitations into an envelope;  

"We really are getting married in a month!"

“Wow – we really are getting married in a month!” Kelly gasps, but he points out that it is not official until they have handed out the invitations.   

"Do you fancy a walk round the village?"

He suggests that they can start now, if she fancies a walk round the village, and she agrees that they might as well.

“Here you are – Iolo – you can give that to him, 

"There's Mam and Dai"

“then there’s Mathew, Mam and Dai,” he says, 

"Do they really need an invitation?"

and Kelly wonders whether they really need an invitation.   “Yes, Mam likes to keep her invitations – in a box,” he replies and Kelly cannot understand why.

"Right, then – Jinx – you can give that to him"

“Right, then – Jinx – you can give that to him,” Jason goes on, “He’s your friend – it’s better if it comes from you.”

"It's a wedding invite, not a gold watch"

“It’s a wedding invite, not a gold watch!” she growls, 

"It's worth a lot more than a gold watch"

but Jason is quite adamant that it is worth a lot more than a gold watch.

"I still have not heard anything!"

At number 9, Tesni is on the phone, moaning at the police;  “You said she’d phone me back at lunchtime.   I still haven’t heard anything.   Well, you’ve got an hour – if DI Fielding doesn’t phone, 

"I'll sit there all night if I have to!"

“I’ll come over and sit there all night if I have to!   I have to know what happened to Mam!”

The colitis is playing up again

She angrily puts down her phone and hurries into the other room, suddenly feeling a pain in her stomach.

Mark checks that the coast is clear . . .

Mark slowly walks through the alley round to the back of the shop, where he gets out his smoking materials.   

. . . but Garry is looking for Tyler 

However, Garry is just approaching along the back street and demands, “You haven’t seen your room-mate, have you?”

Mark replies that he has, “And he’s not in a good mood today.”   Garry tells him to give Tyler a message, 

"Tell him I want to catch up"

that he wants to catch up with him.   With Garry safely out of the way, 

He gets out his tobacco tin . . .

Mark again takes the tin from his pocket and is about to light up another ‘medicinal’ cigarette 

. . . but then Colin appears

when Colin comes out with the rubbish.

"Since when have you smoked?"

“Mark, what are you doing?   Since when have you smoked?   

"I caught Izzy with that guilty look"

“I caught Izzy with that guilty look plenty of times, so I know you are.”

"It's just medicinal"

“I’m not smoking ‘smoking’, right?   It’s just medicinal,” he is informed, 

"You're not dabbling with that stuff?"

and Colin is not happy that Mark is dabbling with that stuff.   

"I'm still in pain, Col"

“I’m still in pain, Col,” and Colin recalls that was Gaynor’s excuse in college.

“I’m serious – this is the only thing that works,” Mark wails, 

"You can't smoke that stuff here!"

and is told that he cannot smoke that stuff there.   “I don’t have any choice – Tyler complains if I do it at home.”

“I don’t blame him – that stuff stinks – why don’t you try paracetamol or codeine?” Colin asks, and Mark says that he has tried of them all, and thanks Colin for his concern.   

"If you've finished lecturing . . ."

If he has finished lecturing, Mark is off for a quiet smoke.

Tesni comes out of number 9 . . .

Tesni comes out of the front door of number 9 

. . . and notices Mathew 

and encounters Mathew just leaving the shop;  he maintains that she does not look as if she is all right.   

"DI Fielding isn't phoning me back"

“DI Fielding isn’t phoning me back,” she moans.

"She said they're doing everything they can"

“You’re not still hassling DI Fielding?   You heard what she said last week – that they’re doing everything they can.”   

"Well, it's not working, is it?"

Tesni points out that it is not working – they do not have any more leads, but Mathew is confident that the truth will come out in the end.

“As time goes by, the less likely they are to find who did it!” she tells him, 

"Perhaps it was him"

“The murderer could be anywhere – perhaps it was him,” she says, pointing at a random stranger who happens to be passing.

"I'm taking you home for some lunch"

Mathew insists that he is taking her home for some lunch and will not take no for an answer;  “You won’t solve anything if you don’t look after yourself!” so she agrees to his instruction.

Britt comes for a chat 

Britt goes to Y Felin to return Iolo’s wet suit boots which she found in her bag and she also wanted a chat;  “I enjoyed today of course, but I’ve been thinking about what we talked about – swimming in the sea instead of the river.   

"We're almost semi-pros now, aren't we?"

“Well, we’re almost semi-pros now, aren’t we?   You are still enjoying it, aren’t you?   Why don’t we look into it a little bit?”

Iolo looks preoccupied

Iolo has obviously got something else on his mind as she continues, “We’ll find somewhere that’s safe – or a club, perhaps.”

"I've tried to write down everything"

Back at number 9, Tesni tells Mathew, “I’ve tried to write down everything she did on her last day.”   He points out that the police will have already done that, but she imagines that they have missed something.

Mathew brings a sandwich

Mathew brings her a sandwich, asking if she has heard from Rhys, and whether he is enjoying himself;  

"I'm sure you miss Rhys"

“I’m sure you miss him.”   She replies that she has not had much time to think about it, and decides that she needs to talk to Jinx.

"I need to talk to Jinx"

“I don’t suspect him – but he saw her – I need to know where and when – will you come with me?”   Mathew has to do a stock-take, so she proposes he could go with her when he has finished.

"I don't think this is a good idea, Tes"

“I don’t think this is a good idea,” he warns, but she is adamant that she has to do this, 

"You would, if you were in my position"

arguing that if he was in her position, he would not be able to sit back and do nothing.   

"You have to rest – and eat some food"

He reluctantly agrees, but insists that she has to rest and eat some food.

Kelly goes to see Jinx . . .

Kelly arrives at Cysgod y Glyn 

. . . with the invitation

and rather awkwardly hands the invitation to Jinx;  

Jinx picks it up

“Wedding invite,” she says, 

"Isn't it rather soon?"

and he thinks this is rather soon.   

"We're getting married in a month"

“Yeah, change of plan – we’re getting married in a month,” she explains, which comes as a great shock to him.

“Is this what you want?” he demands, 

"I thought you would have sent a WhatsApp"

“I thought you would have sent a WhatsApp, or an e-invite or whatever.”

"I know it's a bit strange . . ."

She answers that Jason preferred them and adds, “OK, I know it’s a bit strange, perhaps, inviting you to the wedding, 

". . . bit it would be more strange if you weren't there"

“but it would be even more strange if you weren’t there.”

"Do you really want me there?"

Jinx asks if she really wants him there, 

"It would make me really happy"

and with the hint of tears in her eyes she responds, “You’re a friend – it would make me really happy,” then turns and leaves the flat.

Mark is in the Deri

Mark is now drowning his sorrows in the Deri, and Colin comes in, 

Colin scrutinises him

looking closely into his eyes;  

"I'm checking you're not up there with the fairies"

“I’m checking that you’re not up there with the fairies,” he says.   

"I'm in a lot of pain at the moment"

Mark stresses he is in a lot of pain at the moment, if that is what he wants to know, 

"I'm worried about you, Mark"

but Colin is worried about him.

“Are you?   Because you haven’t been over once recently to see how I am,” Mark grumbles, 

"You and everyone else have been 'busy'"

“You and everyone else have been ‘busy’.”

“Is everything all right between you and Tyler?” Colin enquires, 

He moans about Tyler's attitude

and is told that he moans about the mess and the smoking, the fact that Mark is skint, bored and in pain all the time.

"Pint of cider, please, Geraint"

Colin will pay for his drink and orders a pint of cider from Geraint;  “What you need is a little hobby,” he recommends, 

"What – like knitting socks?"

and Mark imagines that he should be knitting socks.   “No, something that will keep you busy and help you relax a little bit . . . I don’t know – pottery, calligraphy, foraging – a bit of gardening – 

"Anything to stop you smoking that terrible stuff"

“anything to stop you smoking that terrible stuff!   Look, it’s important now that the two of us look after ourselves – you know, look after our health – 

"Especially at your age!"

“especially at your age!”

"You just have to be a bit patient"

As Garry carries a box in the garage, he is speaking in English on the phone;  “You just have to be a bit patient, that’s all.”   

"OK – one more job – for Greta"

Tyler comes in and agrees to do one more job – for Greta.   Garry says he respects a man who looks after his children.

“What’s the job, then?” Tyler demands, 

"It's in three parts"

and is informed that the job is in three parts.   

"Whoa – you said one job"

“Whoa – you said one job!” Tyler protests, and is told that it is one job in three parts.

"When you get the texts, do it immediately"

“I’ll text you the instructions for every step once I get them – when you get the texts, you do it immediately, right?   Not after you finish a pint with Mark or dinner with Greta – 

"The last stage will be in a month"

“immediately – do you understand?   The first two steps will lead to the last in about a month.”

"I thought I'd be doing them today"

“A month?   I thought I’d be doing them today!” rages Tyler, 

"Plenty of boys would love the chance"

but is reminded that there are plenty of boys who would love the chance to earn £20,000.   “All right – but do you promise there’s no catch in it?” Tyler demands.

“On Gwern’s life!” Garry replies, “Go on – off you go.”

"How are you feeling now?"

Mathew returns to number 9 and asks Tesni how she is feeling now;  

"You haven't touched that food"

he notices that she has not touched her food.   

"I've been trying to phone Eifion"

“I’ve tried to phone Eifion but it keeps going to voicemail,” she moans, “Can you phone him?   He’ll talk to you.”

"It's only period pains"

It is obvious that she is in considerable pain, but dismisses it as period pains, and he urges her to sit down.   

"Why won't you help me?"

“I don’t want to, Math – I want to talk to Eifion!   Why won’t you help me?”

He wants to help her, but insists that she has to help herself;  

Mathew has to return to work

his phone sounds with a message and he has to go back to work.   “Please, before I go, just eat something, all right?”   

"Only if you phone Eifion!"

She will only do so if he phones Eifion.

"He's not answering my texts"

“Tes, I haven’t seen Eifion since he left – I’ve tried to contact him but he’s not answering my texts.   He doesn’t know what happened to Jaclyn.”

"I need to know when Mam was in the Deri"

Tesni argues that she needs to know when her mother was in the Deri, 

"It's making you ill, Tes!"

but Mathew shouts, “You need to stop obsessing over small details – it’s making you ill!   Please just eat something.”

"I don't want food – or you fussing over me!"

“I don’t want food – or you fussing over me!” she explains, 

Mathew walks out of the house

so he walks out of the house.

Kelly is alone in the house

Kelly arrives back at Bryntirion and finds that she has the place to herself for a change.   

She is going to make a cup of tea . . .

As she is about to fill the kettle, 

. . . when a text from Jinx arrives

she receives a text from Jinx, ‘Thanks for the invite to your wedding.   Looking forward to it.’

"It says here you're more buoyant in salt water"

Britt is looking at a wild swimming website and tells Iolo, “It says here that you’re more buoyant in salt water – why have I been struggling to swim in a river?   

"I should have gone to swim in the sea earlier"

“I should have gone to swim in the sea earlier – 

"I'm so glad you've started to come with me"

“I’m so glad that you’ve started to come with me.”   He agrees that he is enjoying it, too.

But when she mentions Tyler . . .

“And that stuff with Tyler isn’t getting you down so much?” she enquires, 

. . . his smile disappears

as his enjoyment seems to dissipate.   “Sorry, love, but I can see you’re worried.”   Iolo is doing his best to try and forget about it.

'I hate the things Tyler is doing"

“I hate seeing Greta upset – but I hate the things Tyler is doing;  “Especially when he tells me that he’s stopped.”   

"He's not still stealing"

Britt cannot believe that he is still stealing.

“Yes – I gave him a chance and he threw it back in my face,” he rages, 

"He was hiding in his balaclava"

“And the worst thing is, Greta saw it.   While he was supposed to be spending time with her, he was there, hiding in his balaclava.”

"Give Tyler a chance to explain"

Britt demands if he is sure that Tyler is still doing that stuff, and advises that he should give Tyler a chance to explain;  “Even if it’s to confirm you’re doing the right thing – because if you don’t know for sure what he’s doing and why, 

He takes her suggestion to heart

“you’ll carry on worrying that you’re doing the wrong thing, every time you see Greta unhappy.”

She closes the laptop and will see Iolo at 7:30 tomorrow morning;  

"More buoyant than I've ever been!"

“I’m going to be more buoyant than I’ve ever been before!”

Mark is back at number 7

Mark comes back into number 7 and calls for Tyler, but there is no reply;  

He sits down for a rest . . .

he takes a can of Foster’s from the fridge and sits down at the table.   

. . . but finds his 'herbal mixture' has gone . . .

When he opens his tin of smoking materials, he is alarmed to discover that his ‘herbal mixture’ has all been used.   

. . . and his money is in much the same state

Then, opening his wallet, he finds that it is empty, 

He leaves the house again

so he leaves the house again.

Iolo visits MFC

Tyler has served another customer at MFC when Iolo appears in the doorway;  

"Can I have a box of wings, please?"

“Can I have a box of wings, please?” he asks Tyler, and as he gets them, Iolo goes on, “Are you working tonight?”   

"I've got the night off tonight"

Tyler says he has the night off, 

"Call over to Y Felin"

and is told, “Call over to Y Felin.”

This pleases Tyler 

Tyler is very glad to hear this, 

Fancy ruining the chicken with chilli sauce!

and Iolo chooses sweet chilli sauce on his chicken.   

Iolo pays contactlessly

He is charged £3.90 for this and pays contactlessly by card.

Tesni is not getting any better . . .

Tesni appears to be in a great deal of pain as she lies on the sofa in number 9;  

. . . so she struggles across the room . . . 

with a great deal of effort she gets up and struggles across

. . . but fails to grab her phone . . .

 to get her phone from the table, 

. . . before she falls to the floor

but then collapses to the floor.
