Tyler wonders what to do next 

Tyler is sitting at the table in number 7, considering his options;  

"It's me again – I need to see you"

he picks up his phone and dials Garry’s number.   “It’s me again – I need to see you – 

"Phone me back, all right?"

“phone me back, all right?”

He hears a message on his phone

Then he puts on his jacket and as he is about to leave the house his phone sounds;  

"Deri 11am"

he finds that there is a reply, simply informing him, ‘Deri 11am’.

"We should go out for a meal tonight"

As they sit eating breakfast at Bryntirion, Ieuan suggests to Anita that they could go out for a meal tonight;  “That sounds lovely – have you got any where in mind?” she asks.   He says that a place has just opened outside Cwrtmynach .

"The Goat – it had brilliant reviews last week"

Kelly, who is rushing about, remarks, “The Goat – it had brilliant reviews last week.”   Anita wonders if she and Jason would like to join them, 

"The 'Save the Date' cards will be coming"

but he replies that the ‘Save the Date’ cards will be coming today, as he presumes that she got next day delivery.

"It declined my bank card"

“Do you know what?   I couldn’t – it declined my bank card,” Kelly tells him, “I don’t know – security – it does that sometimes.   I’ll phone them this morning.”

Jason protests that she could have used his card, 

"Your mother was pushing Prosecco on me"

and she replies, “I forgot – probably because your mother was pushing Prosecco on me.”   He realises that, apart from sorting that out, they do not have any plans for tonight, and now he will give her a lift to the village.   

Ieuan is concerned

Ieuan is looking concerned.

Eileen has found some cheap labour now

At Penrhewl, Eileen is on the phone;  “I’ve found someone else to do the work now,” she says, “But thanks for phoning back.”   

"Food was excellent"

Alaz tells her that his breakfast was excellent, and she broaches the subject of him helping on the farm today.   [He left Penrhewl with the police on 11 May last year.]

She has some work which needs doing

“I need to move a few heavy objects and the barn needs clearing,” she says, 

"I was going to look for work"

but he replies that he was going to the village to look for work.   

"You can finish it tomorrow, then"

“Oh right, you could make a start this morning, and finish it off tomorrow, if you like,” she announces.   

This is not what he had intended

He does not look particularly pleased about this.

"Prices in Dublin are twice what we pay here"

Sioned comes into the farmhouse at Deri Fawr and DJ informs her, “The prices in Dublin are almost twice what we pay here.”   She says that is what happens in capital cities, 

"We had better look for a flat now"

and he decides that they had better look for a flat for now, and then find somewhere more permanent when they are there.

“This is really happening, isn’t it?” he says enthusiastically, 

"You have to hand in your notice"

and she points out that he has one thing to do – to hand in his notice;  she thought he would be pleased, as he hates working at MFC.   

"I'm not looking forward to telling Garry"

He is not looking forward to telling Garry.

“Garry will be fine,” Sioned assures him, and then he finds a treehouse online, which he maintains that he has always wanted.   

"You are 36, DJ"

She reminds him that he is 36, and he says he would like to build one for his children, which is rather sore point with Sioned.

"I don't want to talk about it now"

“We can’t afford anything like this,” she reprimands him, “I don’t want to talk about this now,” so DJ proposes that they look for a reasonable flat.

"You can make anywhere feel like home"

“Knowing you and your magic touch, you can make anywhere feel like home,” he maintains, “As long as we’re together.”   

"Well, you must tell Garry you're leaving"

She instructs him that if he wants his luxury flat, he must tell Garry that he is leaving.   He agrees that he will go and do it now.

Anita complains that she needs assistance . . .

Anita struggles into APD with several large bags and asks Tyler for some assistance, 

. . . but Tyler is otherwise occupied

but he is engrossed with his phone.   “What’s wrong with you today?   You won’t lift a finger to help me while I’m slaving away, carrying things in and out!   

"You don't listen to a word I say"

“You don’t listen to a word I say!   I’ve got two more bags in the van – go and get them!”   

"I have a lot on my mind"

He makes the excuse that he has a lot on his mind.

Colin is cavorting

In the shop, Colin is ‘dancing’ to music he is listening to on his earphones;  

He places magazines on the rack . . .

he extravagantly places some magazines on the rack, 

. . . and Alaz is amused

and Alaz, who is just coming in, looks rather amused.

Colin initially does not hear him come in, but apologises for the fact he was dancing;  

"I only dance when nobody's watching"

“I only dance when nobody’s watching,” and Alaz suggests that he could do with some practice.   

"How much is this?"

He picks up an item and asks how much it is;  

"It's 'on the house'"

this causes confusion when he is told that it is ‘on the house’.

"Present from you to me"

“Free – present, from me to you,” Colin explains, 

"No, I must pay"

but Alaz insists that he must pay.

"I'm looking for a job – make some money"

“I’m looking for a job – make some money,” he says, and Colin is aware that the estate agent over the road is looking for a salesman, and tries to explain the principle of selling to Alaz;  

"I sell lemons – they sell houses"

he sells lemons – they sell houses.   

Alaz demonstrates his moves

As Alaz leaves the shop, he copies of some of Colin’s moves.

"Mathew will be over with a quote"

At APD, Anita is telling a customer that Mathew will be over with their quote before the end of the week.   

"I'm just popping out, Anita"

Tyler walks in to inform her he is popping out for two minutes, but at that moment Jason has an urgent job for him.   

However, Jason has an urgent job for him

“Take fascia boards and beading to Bob Jones – I know you’re not working this afternoon, but it will only take half an hour.   I’ve promised – I can’t let him down.”

"I was just popping out"

He will not listen to Tyler’s protests that he is ‘popping out’, 

"I owe you a pint, OK?"

and will owe him a pint.

Alaz looks at the vacancy notice

Alaz is looking at the vacancy notice in the window of Tomos ac Ellis 

Griffiths comes out of the shop

when Ieuan Griffiths comes out of the door;  

"Excuse me, sir"

“Oh, excuse me, sir – I would like to try for the position, please.   

"You are looking for salesman?"

“The job – you are looking for salesman?”

Griffiths replies that this rôle would not be right for him;  

"My clients are very particular indeed"

“My clients are very particular indeed.   I’m sure you’ll find something – excuse me.”

"Trust me, love, you don't want to work for him"

Britt has just emerged from the door of number 21 and advises Alaz, “Trust me, love – you don’t want to work for him – you’re up in Penrhewl with Eileen – there’s loads of jobs on the farm.   

"Ask Eileen for a job"

“Ask Eileen for a job.”

"I help on farm already"

“I help on farm already,” he answers, but from experience Britt suspects that Eileen does not pay him.

"Ask her for wages – money"

“Ask her for wages – money – it would be a lot nicer way of earning a living than working for Griffiths, I can tell you that.”

"You haven't given me much notice"

DJ encounters Garry outside the shop, and he complains, “You haven’t given me much notice,” but unexpectedly adds that it is fine;  

"Don't look back on Cwmderi"

“Go to Ireland and don’t look back on Cwmderi.   There’s more to the world than this village.”

"Sioned's a bit nervous"

DJ tells him, “Sioned’s a bit nervous, but I’m sure she’ll be fine once we get there.”   Garry says that she is lucky to have him and he hopes that they will be happy.

Garry notices Tyler . . . 

Then he notices Tyler by the van outside APD 

. . . and goes across the road

and goes across to confront him;  

"You're late!"

“You’re late!” he snarls, “You wanted to see me as soon as possible!”   

"Jason gave me a job"

Tyler explains that he was given a job to do by Jason.

"I've moved things to make room for this"

“I’ve moved things to make time for this – I’m busy, too,” Garry continues, 

"What am I supposed to tell the customer?"

and Tyler demands what he is supposed to tell the customer.   “Make something up – 

"Deri flat, two minutes!"

“the Deri flat, two minutes!”   Tyler slams the van door in disgust.

"I can't understand where he is"

Jason is on the receiving end of an irate phone call;  “What?   I’m so sorry, Mr Jones – I promise that he was on his way – I can’t understand where he is.   I’ll phone him now and get straight back to you.”

As he ends the call, he angrily exclaims, “Tyler!” 

"I've just had Bob Jones on the phone"

and then tries to contact him;  “Where are you?   I’ve just had Bob Jones on the phone and he’s not happy – for some reason!   Phone me back as soon as you can.”

"Jason will explode"

Tyler is up in the Deri flat;  “I can’t stay long – Jason will explode,” he says, as Garry is nonchalantly making himself a cup of coffee.

"Right, what's so important, then?"

“Right, what’s so important, then, that you’ve forced me to change my plans?” Garry demands, 

"These jobs are ruining my life"

and Tyler says he cannot do this any more – the jobs he is doing for Garry are ruining his life.

"I thought you needed the cash"

Garry was under the impression he needed the cash, but Tyler protests, “Iol won’t let me see Greta – I haven’t told him anything, but he knows something’s up – and the more I hide things, the worse it gets.   

"Put yourself in my position"

“Please, Garry, put yourself in my position – imagine you couldn’t see Seren or Gwern – you’d do anything!   

Garry listens to his tale of woe

“I have to stop before I lose Greta for ever.”

Kelly pays with her bank card

Kelly is buying a cup of coffee at the Deri, at the very reasonable price of £1, and is paying with her card when Griffiths walks in;  

"You sorted out that problem quickly"

he remark that she sorted out the problem with the card very quickly, and she lies that she just ended a phone call with them so now everything is sorted.

She tells him that it was a clerical error and does not seem keen to talk to him;  

Kelly retreats to a table

“Bring it over when it’s ready please, Ger,” she asks the barman.

"Is everything all right, Kelly?"

Ieuan is suspicious and joins her at the table;  “Is everything all right, Kelly?” he asks, “You just seem distant recently, like you’ve got a lot on your mind.”

"Work, wedding and all that"

“Yeah, I mean, you know, work and the wedding and all that,” she replies, and he reminds her that there is also ordering the ‘Save the Date’ cards.   

"You've got money problems, haven't you?"

“You’ve got money problems, haven’t you?” he concludes, “You don’t want Jason to know, so you said your card didn’t work.   Listen, you need to talk about your problems – you can’t bury your head in the sand for ever.”

"This is nothing to do with money, right"

Kelly informs him, “OK, this is nothing to do with money, right – I’m just doing my best to keep everyone else happy – 

"I don't know if I can marry Jason next year . . ."

“and I don’t know if I can marry Jason next year.”   Ieuan imagines she is not happy with Jason, but she denies that;  “I don’t think I can listen to Diane and Auntie Neet going on and on 

". . . with them hassling me for the next 12 months!"

“and hassling me for the next 12 months.”

"Try two years – Mami and Hazel"

Griffiths appears amused;  “Try two years – no, honestly – Mami and Hazel!   

"What wasn't perfect?"

“Our wedding cost a fortune – everything has to be perfect – but do you know what was not perfect?   

"You and Jason don't need a circus"

“Our relationship – you and Jason don’t need a circus to show you love each other.”

She is all too painfully aware of this, and he continues, “I see it every day.”     Kelly mentions that they are bickering every day, but he is referring to the little things.   

"You always swap the tomato and cucumber"

“For example when you have a salad, you always swap the tomato and cucumber – that’s what love is – little things like that.”

"Not champagne and flowers and months of organising"

By now Kelly is laughing, as he goes on, “Not champagne and flowers and months of organising.   

"What do you want, Kelly?"

“What do you want, Kelly?”

"To live happily ever after"

She answers that she wants to live happily ever after, 

"Finish your coffee and come with me . . ."

so he proposes that she should finish her coffee and come with him.   

". . . outside in 15 minutes"

“We’ll meet outside in 15 minutes.”   As he goes, Kelly is betraying some signs of confusion.

"I could small something nice from the top field"

At Deri Fawr, DJ is once more cooking and Sioned says that she could smell something nice from the far field.   

"I though I'd make this for my interview"

“I thought I’d make this for my interview,” he tells her, and she considers that they would be stupid not to give him the job.

“The new pan is doing the job, then?” she asks, 

"It's brilliant"

and he describes it as brilliant, adding that Garry gave him no trouble.   As a treat he has something for them to celebrate with in the fridge.   

"I'm not very keen on Guinness"

Sioned reveals that she is not particularly keen on Guinness, so he thinks she will have to get used to it.

"I'm very lucky"

“Come on, then – not everybody goes out with a chef extraordinaire,” he brags, and she says that she is very lucky.   

"Not as lucky as me"

“Not as lucky as me,” he adds, “Do you fancy an early night tonight?”   However she says she is tired tonight, 

"I forgot to fix the barn door"

but then makes an unconvincing excuse that she has forgotten to fix the barn door and had better do it before it starts raining.   

"What about the food?"

DJ does not like seeing the food going to waste.

"I know what it's like"

“I know what it’s like not to be able to see your child,” Garry tells Tyler, “I remember Gwyneth doing the same to me with Gwern a while back.”   

"So you understand, Garry?"

Tyler is pleased that he understands, and will now go, thanking Garry.

"I had a big job to offer you"

As he heads towards the door, Garry continues, “It’s a pity, though – I had a big job to offer you – the same sort of thing, just a bit more money.”   

"How much?"

Tyler enquires how much and is rather shocked to hear the reply, 

"£20,000"

“£20,000 – but I’ll find someone else.”

"Is there any risk?"

Tyler wants to know if there is any risk and is told that there is always a risk;  

"A deal on number 7?"

“What if I offered you a deal on number 7?   A private sale?   “A permanent home for you and stability for Greta.”

Tyler points out that Dani owns number 7, but is told that can be sorted out.     

"I'll need an answer tomorrow"

“Think about it – but I’ll need an answer tomorrow morning.”   Tyler is sorely tempted by this offer.

Eileen is lining up the jobs for Alaz

At Penrhewl, Eileen tells Alaz, “If you could look after Huwi-John this evening, I’d be very grateful – and then tomorrow I was hoping you could start on the barn roof – because there’s more holes in it than a sieve.”

"And it is possible you will pay me?"

He replies, “And it is possible you will pay me for working on the farm?”   

Eileen springs to the defensive

Eileen points out that he is getting his board and lodgings free, which is an expensive item these days.

"I need to earn money so I send home"

“I need to earn money so I send home,” he explains, 

"I don't make a lot of money . . ."

and she goes into great detail about how many costs there are on the farm, and it is not as if she is making a lot of money out of it.

". . . but I could give you £100 a week?"

“But I can give you something – is £100 a week OK?”   

"Thank you, Eileen"

Alaz thanks her for this offer.

"My phone was on silent, Jase"

Kelly arrives back at Bryntirion with Griffiths and informs Jason that her phone was on silent.   “Did you sort out the problem with your card?” he asks, 

"We're getting married in a month . . ."

and she says she is not going to order ‘Save the Date’ cards.

“Because they’re a waste of money – and we’re getting married in a month!”   Anita cannot believe her ears, 

". . . thanks to Ieuan"

and Kelly explains it is all thanks to Ieuan.

"The manager fitted them in"

“The manager of the Glyndwr managed to fit you in – don’t worry about that,” he says, 

"Is that what you want, Kelly?"

and Anita demands whether this is what they want.

"Yes - how about you, Jase?"

Kelly makes it quite clear, “That’s what I want,” and asks for Jason’s reaction.

“What – marry you in a months time?” 

"How can I thank you, Ieuan?"

and he kisses Ieuan, 

"I think that's more than enough!"

who finds the experience rather unnerving.   

Anita is excited again

Once again Anita is very excited, exclaiming that they have so much to do;   Ieuan does his best to try and calm her down.

"We're getting married in a month!"

Jason cannot believe that they are getting married in a month, but Kelly assures him that is indeed the case.
