"Dani's made too many bacon rolls"

Next morning, Garry is sitting on the edge of the inspection pit and asks Dylan if he would like some breakfast;  “Dani made too many bacon rolls,” he says.   However, this might prove to be difficult, as in addition to Dylan’s rather moribund state, his hands are tied and he has a gag in his mouth.

He at least removes Dylan's gag

Garry reaches down and removes the gag, but his victim makes it very clear that he does not want food;  

"You can't keep me here for ever"

“You can’t keep me here for ever,” he snarls.

"Just until I decide what to do with you"

Garry does not intend to do that;  “Just until I’ve decided what to do with you.”   Dylan growls that if Garry wanted to kill him, he would have already done it – 

"You're a coward, Garry"

but he is a coward.   “It’s not too late, you know,” Garry remarks, 

"Do you want some water?"

and enquires if he wants some water, which is again refused.

"You're in more of a hole than I am"

“You can’t let me go because you’re in more of a hole than I am,” Dylan groans, and Garry agrees that he might well be, but that he will sort something out.   “Well, do it quickly – because I need a doctor!”

Garry protests that he has patched him up, but Dylan is aware that his botched job will not save him.   

"Sure you don't want want this?"

He is again offered the bacon roll, and when he declines, 

Garry eats it

Garry starts eating it.

Gwyneth also has a bacon roll

Gwyneth has also made a bacon roll, which she laces with brown sauce;  

"You're up early"

Cassie comes downstairs and comments that she is up early.   “The early bird catches the worm,” Gwyneth replies, 

"Do you want some bacon?"

“Do you want some bacon?   There’s plenty there,” 

"No, I'll stick to yoghurt"

Cassie decides to stick to the yoghurt.

“I was going to ask Gwern to stay over tonight, if you don’t mind – I haven’t seen him properly since we came back,” Gwyneth adds, 

"I thought we could have a movie night"

“I thought we could have a movie night – takeaway, popcorn.”   

"I won't be home until late"

Cassie will not be home until late, and Gwyneth is inquisitive about her plans.

“I was thinking about going to see Tesni, to keep her company,” is the reply.   Gwyneth says she has not seen Tesni for the last few days, 

"I was going to ask Tesni to move back in"

and Cassie was going to ask her to move back in after she recovers, if Gwyneth is in agreement, but it appears that she is not, 

"It's nice to have a bit of space here"

maintaining that it is nice to have a bit of space in the house.

“It felt a bit crowded here for a while,” she maintains, but Cassie is feeling rather guilty, 

"We're the closest thing she has to family"

arguing that they are the closest thing Tesni has to family and that they should look after her.

"She chose to go to Mathew"

“She chose to go to Mathew,” Gwyneth points out;  she is reminded that they were not there then, but now they are back.   

"I think she's had enough of us"

“I got the vibes the other day that she’s had enough of us,” stresses Gwyneth, “I’m going to stay away – perhaps you should, too.”

"Have you been out already, Tyler?"

Mark is making his breakfast and is surprised to see Tyler coming in through the back door;  “Good grief – have you been out already?”   Tyler explains that he had to do something this morning, 

He seems to have been knocked about 

and when he thinks that Mark is not looking, he examines a vicious looking bruise on his side.

"Are you all right?"

However Mark has noticed, 

"If I need a spliff, I know where to come"

but he dismisses it as nothing, simply a slight accident;  “If I need a spliff for the pain, I know where to come!”   

That injury is causing a lot of pain

He appears to be in a lot of discomfort as he goes upstairs.

Cassie is playing with Gabriel . . .

Cassie is entertaining Gabriel at the bar in the Deri 

. . . and he is enjoying it

and he appears to be enjoying the attention;  “Oh, here’s Dadi, at last,” she says, “I’m not paid to babysit – 

"Am I allowed to call you Dadi?"

“sorry, am I allowed to call you Dadi?”

"I don't see Dylan coming back any time soon"

“I don’t see Dylan coming back any time soon,” is Garry’s dismissive reply, and Cassie cannot understand how he could leave such a gorgeous child.   “Perhaps he had no choice,” says Garry.

"Everyone has a choice, haven't they?"

“Everyone has a choice, haven’t they?” comments Cassie, and at that moment Tyler come in.   Garry asks him if everything is all right, and if he did what was needed.

Tyler displays his bruise . . .

“Yes, but look at this, Garry!” he snarls.   

. . . but Garry has other priorities

Garry is more interested  whether he got the delivery and took it where he was instructed.   

"I could have been killed!"

“I could have been killed!” Tyler says, and is told to keep his voice down.   He confirmed that he did take the delivery where he was told;  “Everything was fine until I went into the van – and this bloke came from nowhere, dragged me out and kicked me.   

"I hit him with a brick"

“I found something on the floor – a brick – and I hit him!”   

"Was he still moving?"

He is asked whether the man was moving when he left, and confirms that he got up, but did not follow Tyler.

“If he’s still alive, we are fine,” is Garry’s evaluation, 

"You did well – it's nearly over"

“Tyler, you did well – it’s nearly over.”   Cassie protests that she has work to do, so Garry goes to  relieve her of Gabriel.

"You promise you'll get rid of the stuff?"

Colin is at Maes-y-Deri, where he warns Mark, “If I do this, do you promise that you will get rid of the stuff once and for all?”   Mark is confident that if they stick to the plan, everything will be all right.

"I don't understand why you're so keen, Mark"

Kath has been loading the photographs from her cruise on the laptop;  “I don’t understand why you’re so keen, Mark,” she says, “You didn’t show much interest when we went on our last cruise.”

"Col is thinking about a cruise"

“Col was asking, because it was thinking about going on a cruise,” Mark informs her, 

"I think the sea is in my blood"

Colin points out that his father was a sailor for decades and suspects that the sea is in his blood.

"Where's Brynmor, then?   Lost at sea?"

Then he jokingly asks, “Where’s Brynmor, then?   Lost at sea?” 

"Do you want to see these photos or what?"

and she demands whether they want to see the photographs or not.   

"There are 650 of them"

“I hope you don’t have any plans, because there are 650 photos in all,” she adds.   

"Can I use your toilet, please, Kath?"

Colin would like to use the toilet, but encourages them to get with the photos, or they will not finish until the end of next week.   

"This is breakfast at Southampton"

The first photo is at Southampton, and Kath details the breakfast they had before boarding.

Garry opens up the pit

In the garage once more, Garry removes the cover of the inspection pit and again takes the gag from Dylan.   “If I could get you some help . . . 

"How could I have been so stupid?"

“how could I have been so stupid?”   

"We've all been stupid"

Dylan mutters that they have all been stupid.  

"This isn't my fight"

“This isn’t my fight – this is between you and Gwyneth,” Garry continues.

"But whose garage am I in?"

“But whose garage am I in?” Dylan demands, and Garry maintains that he should have finished things.   “But that’s not who you are,” is the response.   

"What am I going to do now?"

Garry does not know what he is going to do now, 

"We shouldn't have to suffer because of her"

But the voice from below enquires, “Does she know I’m here?   We shouldn’t have to suffer because of her.”

"We can't all win"

Garry come to the conclusion that they cannot all win, 

"If I die, the truth will never come out"

but Dylan comments, “If I die, we all lose – the truth will never come out.”   

"What truth?"

Garry wants to know what truth this is;  he is emphatically told, “Gwyneth killed Jaclyn!” which he again regards as nonsense.

"Check the date she left prison"

“I can prove it,” Dylan goes on, “Check the date she left prison – Gwyneth killed Jaclyn – trust me, please – it’s the only option you’ve got.”

Now Gwyneth is banging on the door

Then there is a knock on the door of the garage, and Gwyneth’s voice shouts for Garry.

"What do you want?"

He comes out of the door of the ‘Dairy’, carefully shutting it behind him;  Gwyneth wants to know why he is not answering his phone, and he answers that he has been busy.   

"I want to see Gwern tonight"

“I want to see Gwern tonight,” she tells him, and he wants to know all the details.   “I just want to check he’s OK after everything,” she says, 

Garry is looking very preoccupied

and can see that Garry is looking very flustered.

"Stop worrying – everything's over"

“Stop worrying – everything’s over,” she assures him, 

"Not for all of us"

but he emphasises that is not the case for all of them.   

"Where have you buried him?"

“For us both – where is he?” she demands, “Where have you buried him?   I want you to show me.”

"Like you said – it's all over"

He turns and confronts her;  “Like you said, there’s no need to worry – it’s all over.   I’ll bring Gwern over, around eight.”

She waits until he walks away . . .

When he has returned across the road to the Deri, 

. . . then tries the door

Gwyneth tries the door, with no success.

"I prefer fish and chips"

Mark is trying to hide his extreme boredom as his mother continues, “Here we are in the executive lounge – that was the night when we had Lobster Thermidor – I prefer fish and chips.”

"Don't worry, it's only Col"

Then a bang can be heard from upstairs, and she tells Mark to check that everything is all right.   “There’s no need – it’s only Col,” he replies, and she says that he has been up there a long time.   

"He's got a dodgy stomach"

“He’s got a dodgy stomach – he didn’t want me to mention it, as he is a bit sensitive about it.   

Kath resumes her travelogue

“Tell me more about this executive lounge – it sounds very fancy.”   His mother draws his attention to the diamonds a woman is wearing in one of the photos.

Tyler has some magazines . . .

empties some magazines from a bag and starts looking through an Ideal Home magazine, 

. . . to give him redecorating ideas

seeking ideas for improving number 7.   

He looks at shade cards . . .

Then he picks up some paint shade cards 

. . . and compares colours . . .

and visualises it against the wall, 

. . . as he plans the future

looking very pleased with the prospect.

Colin creeps downstairs . . .

At Maes-y-Deri, Colin is coming very gingerly down the stairs, carrying a large box which contains some of the cannabis-growing equipment, at one point almost missing a step.   

. . . as Kath is droning on . . .

He can hear Kath enthusing over her photos, 

. . . and tries to open the front door with his foot . . .

and attempts to open the front door with his foot.   

. . . resulting in catastrophe

However he loses his balance and all the box contents are scattered on the floor.

They hear the sudden noise . . .

Kath is shocked by this sudden noise and goes to investigate;  

. . . so Kath goes to see what it was

“Colin – are you all right?”   

Colin simply 'does a runner'

Like a rabbit caught in the headlights, Colin is lost for words and makes a very hasty exit from the house, 

"What on earth is all this?"

while Kath demands, “What on earth is all this?”

"You've been growing drugs in the attic?"

Then she realises what it is;  “You’ve been growing drugs in the attic?   

"This is cannabis – get out!"

“This is cannabis – get out, will you?”   

"But Mam . . ."

Mark tries to explain, 

"Get out – before I say something I regret!"

but she orders him out of the house before she says something she regrets.   

Mark does as he is told

He  thinks it wise to comply with her order.

Tyler eats a chip . . .

Tyler comes out of MFC with his food 

. . .then winces with pain . . .

and winces with pain from his injury, 

. . . just as Iolo is approaching

just as Iolo approaches along the road, then walks straight past.

Iolo continues walking

“How’s Greta?” Tyler enquires, “You can’t ignore me for ever.   

"Can we at least talk, please?"

“Can we at least talk, please?”

Garry looks very serious . . .

Garry is looking anxiously at the laptop and is speaking on the phone;  

. . . as he looks at the Western Post website

we see that on the screen is the Western Post report on Jaclyn’s murder (first published 2 July 2022).

"Thanks, mate – everything's fine"

“Thanks, mate – yeah,” he says, “Everything’s fine.”   

So Dylan may be telling the truth

He now realises that there is a good chance that Dylan is telling the truth 

He jots down the date in question

and he writes down on a notepad ‘2-7-22’.

"I think she is still in pain"

Mathew is having a drink in the Deri and informs Cassie that Tesni is not moving about much;  he believes that she is still in pain.   

"She's not keen on visitors at the moment"

Cassie was thinking about visiting her tonight, but is told that she is not keen on visitors at the moment.

“Yes, that’s what Gwyneth said – will you let me know when she’s ready for some company?” she asks him, 

"I miss her and her wild parties"

“Between you and me, I miss her and her wild parties.”   Mathew imagines that the bar will be back in the garden before she knows it.

"I'm going out"

Garry comes downstairs to the bar and advises that he is going out;  

"You're back and forth all day"

“You’re a busy man – back and forth all day.”   

"Are you keeping tabs on me?"

He wonders if she is keeping tabs on him, 

"What's up with him?"

and she looks rather shocked at the suggestion.

Is Dylan's life ebbing away?

Back in the garage again, where the cover has been left off the inspection pit, Garry calls Dylan’s name;  

"Give me a couple of days to sort things out"

“Give me a couple of days to sort things out,” he says, but does not get any sort of response.   

But does Dylan have that long?

Garry appears very worried.

"I have a right to see my daughter"

Outside MFC, Tyler insists, “I have a right to see my daughter,” 

"She doesn't want to see you!"

but he is told that she does not want to see him.   

"I can sort things out, Iol"

“Please – I know I can sort things out.”

"Not until you stop what you're doing"

Iolo makes it very clear, “You won’t see her until you stop what you’re doing!”   

Tyler thought that he understood, but Iolo continues, “You said that these jobs were easy – but they’re not easy, are they?   You’re getting injured!   What’s the point in having number 7 if you’re going to get killed?”

"I just had an accident"

Tyler sticks to the explanation that he just had an accident, and stresses that he being completely honest.   “You haven’t been honest with me for months – and the stealing,” sneers Iolo.

Mathew comes out of the Deri

Mathew is just coming out of the Deri, and listens to them arguing.   “God knows what you’ve been doing over the last few weeks!” Iolo goes on, “I don’t even know you any more!”

"What was that all about?"

Mathew urges them to stop arguing in the street in the middle of the day;  “What was all that about?   

"Is that anything to do with APD?"

“And the stealing?   Is that anything to do with APD?”

"I framed Eifion . . ."

Tyler proudly admits that he framed Eifion;  “In the Deri, APD and everywhere.   

". . . and almost set the camper van on fire!"

“I almost set the camper van on fire, with Anita inside!   

"Is that honest enough for you, Iol?"

“Is that honest enough for you, Iol?”   

They are stunned to hear this

Both Mathew and Iolo are stunned by this confession.

He hurries back to number 7 . . .

Tyler goes straight back to number 7, 

. . . rips down the shade charts . . .

where he rips the paint samples from the wall 

. . . and sits on the stairs

and sits dejectedly on the stairs;  

As he looks at the magazine . . .

he looks across at the magazine which gave him the idea of redecorating 

. . . he is almost in tears

and is almost in tears.
