Gaynor is becoming impatient with the police |
Gaynor is on the phone to the police, and is becoming rather angry; “It’s not that difficult, is it? There must be a way to find out where the calls are coming from. I know, but until you find out who it is,
"I don't know when they will phone again!" |
“I don’t feel comfortable having my phone on because I don’t know when they will phone again! Hurry up!”
"You can't talk to the police like that!" |
Hywel points out that she cannot be like that with the police, but she disagrees; “Why? I’m frightened and it’s the police’s job to make sure that I’m not,” she insists.
"It's not the end of the world, Gaynor" |
She hands him back his phone, on which she has made the call, while he tells her that there is no need to be frightened. “We’ve had some odd phone calls, but it’s not the end of the world.” Gaynor says that she is concerned for her safety.
“I’m worried that you’re becoming obsessive again,” Hywel warns,
"Your mother – the stealing – Angharad!" |
“Your mother – the stealing – Angharad – forget about it, or you’ll make yourself ill!”
Gaynor jumps to a conclusion |
The mere mention of Angharad makes Gaynor suspect her.
"I thought he'd be grateful" |
Outside the shop, Eileen is complaining to Colin, “I thought he’d be grateful for a roof over his head and food in his stomach.”
"He wants to be independent, doesn't he?" |
Colin points out that Alaz wants to be independent, but she continues whining, “But who rejects generosity?”
“Generosity or charity? They’re not the same,” he comments
"Will you be coming this afternoon?" |
as Jinx approaches, asking if they will be coming this afternoon.
"A little bird said there will be free pizzas!" |
“To the launch of the Pizza Place? Yes, guaranteed – a little bird said there will be free pizzas!” says Colin, but Jinx advises him to come and find out.
Alaz is heading towards the shop . . . |
Looking along the street, Eileen notices Alaz and Mathew heading for the shop, on their way to the flat
. . . so Eileen complains to Mathew |
and she growls at Mathew, “You had no right to steal my worker!” She is told that Alaz chose to come to APD,
"And you've asked him to live in my flat" |
but continues, “I’ve heard that you’ve asked him to come and live with you in my flat.”
"I decide who lives there with me" |
Mathew makes it perfectly clear, “I pay rent every month, so I decide who lives there with me – we agreed.”
"You're not going to refuse him a room?" |
Colin cannot believe if she is going to refuse to let him have a room, but she insists that he can stay at Penrhewl.
"This is best for Alaz in the long-term" |
“This is best for Alaz in the long-term,” says Mathew, and Colin adds that she must remember Alaz is the important one here,
She has lost her cheap labourer |
so Eileen realises that her plan has not worked.
"I wasn't sure you'd turn up" |
There is a knock at the door of the Deri flat and Tyler walks in; Garry was not sure that he would turn up.
"This time you've got more warning – it's tonight" |
“I’m sure you can guess what I want,” he says, “And this time you’ve got more warning – tonight.”
Tyler imagines that it will be another car,
"Intercept a delivery at Swansea Docks" |
but is informed that he needs to intercept a delivery at Swansea Docks around 2:00am. “What sort of delivery?” Tyler immediately demands, and is told not to worry about the details.
"I won't do it!" |
When he threatens not to do the job, Garry points out that he has no choice;
"Sometimes it's better that you don't know" |
“Sometimes it’s better that you don’t know – trust me,” but this does not do much to reassure Tyler.
"Apart from when I wash them for you" |
Mathew is showing Alaz around APD, explaining that he will keep his work clothes there; “Apart from when I wash them for you,” interrupts Anita.
"You wash my clothes?" |
Alaz is very surprised that she will wash his clothes, but Mathew only regards this as complicating things.
Now Mathew realises that he has a quote to do,
"Can you finish showing him around, Anita?" |
and asks Anita to finish showing round the new apprentice, who is enthusiastic;
"I work today?" |
“I work today?” but Mathew replies that he has to complete a contract which will need signing.
"He can just do a couple of hours" |
Anita suggests that he can just do a couple of hours today, so he gets to know the place; “You are going to help Anita put stock on the shelves,” says Mathew, and will see them later.
"You put the emulsion here" |
Alaz is asked to put the emulsion – the large tubs – on one side and the gloss in a different place. He sets to work, demonstrating the Welsh words that he has picked up,
"Emulsion?" |
although he seems puzzled by the word ‘emulsion’.
Jinx prepares for the grand opening |
Outside the pizza shop, Jinx is putting up bunting around the statue of Fflam the mythical horse when Jason approaches. He was going to add some along the roof but could not reach. Jason would have lent him a ladder,
Jason hands him something |
and gives him something in a plastic bag.
"Anything for a free Margherita" |
Kelly is coming along the road and remarks, “You know me – anything for a free Margherita.” Jinx finds that the gift is a Pizza-themed T-shirt,
"Couldn't let my best man open a new business . . ." |
Meanwhile Kelly is looking intently at Jinx,
"It's not a new business" |
then sternly comments, “It’s not a new business,” before walking away.
"She's very stressed at the moment" |
Jason explains that she is very stressed at the moment.
Alaz carefully places the paint |
Alaz is arranging the paint at APD as instructed when Ieuan Griffiths comes into the shop
"What are you doing?" |
and shouts at him, “What are you doing?”
Alaz dislodges a tub of emulsion . . . |
Alaz is so startled that he turns round sharply, knocking a tub of emulsion paint to the floor,
. . . which bounces towards Griffiths |
where it splatters Griffiths’ shoes and trousers.
"What the hell?" |
“What the hell?” he yells,
"It's that idiot!" |
as Anita comes to discover the source of the commotion; “It was that idiot!” Griffiths rages, and Alaz apologises profusely.
"He was stealing the paint!" |
“He was stealing the paint!” Griffiths continues,
"Alaz is working here" |
but Anita informs him that Alaz is working there.
"These shoes are completely ruined!" |
“Look at these shoes – they’re ruined, pal – completely ruined, you fool!” Griffiths goes on, and is told by Anita that it was an accident. “I’ve got a viewing in Llanarthur – I can’t go like this!”
"Here, I give you mine" |
Alaz offers to give Ieuan his shoes instead, but he sneers, “No, I don’t want those scruffy things!”
"He's not usually like this" |
By this time Anita is irate, and orders Ieuan to stop; turning to Alaz she says, “He’s not usually like this.”
"Yes he is" |
“Yes he is – he refused to give me interview selling houses – the job – because I am immigrant,” Alaz answers, which infuriates Anita even more.
"He can hardly speak English, let alone Welsh" |
Griffiths maintains, “I don’t care if he’s a refugee or whatever – he can hardly speak English, let alone Welsh – how can he sell a house?”
"Why no interview?" |
When Alaz asks why there was no interview, he says he was busy;
"Why would I give him a job?" |
“I don’t know the guy, right? Why would I give him a job?”
"You could have given him a chance" |
Anita snarls that he could have given Alaz a chance, and demands that Ieuan apologise to him. However, Griffiths maintains that he made the right decision, after seeing this mess.
"Right – get out – now!" |
Anita orders him out of the shop,
Griffiths squelches away, leaving a white trail |
so he turns and squelches away.
"There's no need to apologise" |
Once more Alaz says how sorry he is, but Anita points out there is no need to apologise to her, and they get on with the cleaning up.
"Yes, very authentic" |
Outside the Pizza Place, Colin and Eileen are impressed by the products, describing them as authentic;
Mark helps himself to a handful |
then as Jinx passes, Mark grabs several slices.
"There's a lot of people to feed" |
“Slow down – there’s a lot of people to feed!” Jinx protests,
"There's no need to be stingy" |
but Mark considers that there is no need to be stingy and upset customers on the first day.
"Why haven't you told Jason?" |
Jinx asks Kelly, “Why haven’t you told Jason?”
"I was hoping he would change his mind" |
and she says that she was hoping he would change his mind. He assures her that will not happen, so she begs him. “I’m not coming to the wedding and I’m not being Jason’s best man,” he stresses.
“I know it’s hard – but it’s hard for me, too,” Kelly reminds him, “It’s only one day.”
"Well, if you don't tell him . . ." |
Jinx warns that if she does not tell Jason . . . “Or what – you’re going to tell him everything?” she demands.
"I'm not coming to the wedding" |
He turns and walks towards Jason, with Kelly chasing behind; “I’m not coming to the wedding,” he says,
"You what?" |
and Jason is flabbergasted.
"Ffion needs help in North Wales" |
“I’m just too busy – Ffion phoned and she needs help in North Wales, so . . . and you said yourself I was just helping with the stag do – and I’ve done that.”
"Even more reason not to be there" |
Jason encounters with, “Yes, but to be honest, Jinx, you didn’t do a very good job of it – you missed half of it.” Jinx regards that as even more reason not to be there. “It feels like you’re letting us down,” Jason goes on,
"Jason!" |
but Kelly does her best to call a halt to this discussion.
"I'm really sorry – more than you know" |
“I’m really sorry about this – more than you know,” is Jinx’s parting comment,
"What was than all about?" |
and Jason wonders what that was all about, but Kelly replies she does not know.
"Let's go home, now" |
Then she suggests that they go back home now
She leads him buy the hand . . . |
and takes his hand;
. . . as Jinx watches |
Jinx is watching.
Gaynor buys flowers from Llinos |
Gaynor has just bought some flowers in the shop when Hywel comes in;
"Are they for me?" |
“Are they for me?” he asks and wonders where she is going. “Are these anything to do with the phone calls?” he demands.
"What if Angharad's woken up" |
“What if she’s woken up?” Gaynor says, “Angharad – I can’t go to the hospital empty-handed – it would look odd.”
"You've got no evidence, Gaynor" |
He is adamant that she cannot go to the hospital at all, as they have no evidence that it is her.
“We do – I heard hospital equipment in the background,” answers Gaynor, but Hywel insists that she has to forget about it.
"I have to find out who it is!" |
“No, I can’t, sorry – but if you want me to forget about this, I have to find out who it is. Until I get the answers – sorry – you’ll just have to put up with it!”
"See what I have to put up with?" |
She marches out of the shop.
Ieuan Griffiths feels self-conscious |
Griffiths comes round the corner by Bethania with his paint-splattered shoes and as he nears the multitude outside the Pizza Place, Mathew comments, “Very trendy, Mr Griffiths.”
Anita assumes that the viewing did not go very well;
"No-one took any notice of the house" |
“No-one took any notice of the house – they stared at my feet!” he moans, and she points out that is what he gets for being nasty to Alaz. He maintains that he will apologise later.
"You've made a 'botch job' customising those . . ." |
Then Mark comments, “Crikey – you’ve made a ‘botch job’ customising those,” and Griffiths groans that all the comedians are out today.
". . . you can hardly expect us to ignore it" |
“You can hardly expect us to ignore it,” Mark adds.
"I'm surprised you're here, with your mother back" |
Griffiths is surprised that Mark is there, with his mother just coming home in a taxi.
Mark hobbles as quickly as he c |
Mark jumps up and does his best to hurry towards Maes-y-Deri. Griffiths turns and is about to speak to Anita, when he finds that she has disappeared into APD.
"I'm just walking through the door now" |
“I’m just walking through the door now,” says Kath, on the phone to Brynmor, “Yes, everything was fine with the taxi – don’t you worry, OK? Listen, can I phone you back?”
She immediately notices this |
She has just noticed the untidy state of the house, particularly the table, which is littered with, among other things, cigarette ends.
"I'll kill him!" |
She picks one up and smells it; “I’ll kill him!” she growls
"I was out all night, driving up the motorway" |
As Garry and Tyler sit at the table in the Deri flat, Garry maintains that the job should not take long; “You said that about the car, and I was out all night driving up the motorway – and panicking when I saw a police car,” moans Tyler.
"Nothing should go wrong" |
“If you follow the plan, nothing should go wrong, all right?” Garry tells him,
"What if I get caught with the delivery?" |
but Tyler demands what happens if he gets caught with this delivery. He is anxious to know if it is drugs, but is told that it is not as dangerous as that.
"I wouldn't pay you that much if you were delivering pizzas!" |
“I wouldn’t pay £20,000 and offer you a good deal number 7, if you were delivering pizzas for me!” Garry snarls.
Then Tyler asks, “Is it guns?” and he is told to stop asking questions; “Why is it so dangerous, then?”
"What are you doing?" |
but Dani comes into the room at that moment and wonders what they are doing.
"So I can take you out for dinner tonight" |
“Tyler is just doing a job for me,” Garry replies and she is immediately suspicious. “Something I was doing this afternoon – Tyler has offered to help so I can take you out for dinner tonight.”
"Always happy to help" |
She is pleased to hear this, and Tyler says that he is always happy to help.
"Right, you'd better go now" |
Garry tells him that he had better go as they have things to do.
"I'll let you know how it goes" |
“Right, I’ll let you know later how it goes,” he says as he leaves the flat.
Dani wonders what is going on |
Dani is suspicious.
Gaynor still has the flowers |
When Hywel returns to Llwyncelyn, he finds Gaynor arranging the flowers in a vase; “Oh, you did listen, then,” he assumes, but she tells him that Angharad still has not woken up. [This after more than two years in a coma?]
"So you did go to the hospital?" |
He is surprised that she went to the hospital,
"She's still unconscious" |
but she says she was not allowed to see Angharad because she is still unconscious.
“It would be a shame to waste the flowers,” she adds,
"Shall I put the batteries back in the phone?" |
and Hywel enquires if she has had any more phone calls. As she has not, he concludes that they have had enough already, and proposes putting the batteries back in the phone, but she is rather hesitant about that. He is confident that whoever it was will leave them in peace now, and she hopes that is true.
"Pink or green tie?" |
“There is one other thing that’s worrying me – Jason’s wedding,” he continues, and he asks her to choose between a green and pink tie.
"After what happened to Ricky!" |
At Maes-y-Deri, Kath is severely reprimanding Mark, “Smoking drugs in my house – after what happened to Ricky?”
"It's only marijuana, Mam" |
He argues that it is only marijuana; “Oh, that’s all right then!” she roars, “Why did you have to smoke it here?”
“Tyler didn’t like me doing it in the house,” he says,
"And you thought I'd be fine with it?" |
and his mother wonders if he thought that she would be fine with it. “Come on, I just smoke a little bit, to ease the pain in my foot, that’s all,” he explains, and she exclaims that there are other painkillers he could use.
"Where's Brynmor ?" |
“They don’t work – you weren’t here, so . . . why are you back so early anyway? Where’s Brynmor?”
"Before you turn the place into a drugs den!" |
“You’re lucky I got back before you turned the place into a drugs den,” she says,
"Brynmor - are you up there?" |
but Mark suspects that Brynmor is upstairs. Kath tells him that Brynmor is not there, so he is curious why his mother is alone. “He hasn’t come back – it’s only me that’s come home,” she says
Mark is puzzled |
and Mark finds this very strange.
"What am I supposed to do now?" |
Kelly and Jason arrive back at Bryntirion, with Jason demanding, “What am I supposed to do now? Ask someone else to be best man? I can’t believe Jinx would do that.”
"You don't know what people are dealing with" |
“Who knows what people think?” Kelly responds, “You don’t know what people are dealing with, Jase.”
"You always see the best in people, Kelly" |
He realises that she is right, and describes her as amazing, always seeing the best in people.
She reaches into the fridge for a bottle as he goes on, “I don’t know what I’ve done to deserve you – there we are, it’s his loss.
"I'll make sure you have the best day possible" |
“Come here – Jinx or not, I’ll make sure you have the best day possible, OK?”
Jason kisses her |
and he kisses her.
Kath loads the washing machine |
While Kath loads the washing machine, Mark demands, “Have you finished, then, or what?”
"What do you think we are – 17?" |
“Finished? What do you think we are – 17?” his mother replies;
"Where's Brynmor, then?" |
so Mark wants to know where Brynmor is. Kath seems to be having difficulty answering that question,
"Take some of this upstairs, will you?" |
and asks him to take some stuff upstairs, but he is insistent.
“He hasn’t done anything to you, has he?
"What am I supposed to think, Mam?" |
“What am I supposed to think? You won’t say anything.”
Kath says that she has promised, but will not reveal what she has promised; “All you need to know is that Brynmor won’t be back for a while – I’m fine –
"I have to respect Brynmor's wishes" |
“we’re still married,” she explains, showing the ring, “But I have to respect Brynmor’s wishes to keep things quiet for now – do you understand?”
Mark points out that people will ask where he is; what is she going to say to them? Kath decides that she will take the case up to the attic herself, but of course he immediately objects to this;
"I'll take the case to the spare room" |
“I think I’ve got the key to the attic at home. I’ll take the case up to the spare room.”
“Mark, I don’t like having secrets between us,” she tells him, “I’m telling you I’m fine – honest –
"I'll tell you when the time is right" |
“and I’ll tell you everything when the time is right – OK?”
"I've left something in the garage" |
Dani is all ready to be taken out for dinner and says that she is starving. “Oh – I’ve just remembered I’ve left something in the garage,” Garry says, so she urges him to be quick.
He walks across the road . . . |
He walks across the road towards the garage
. . . into the ill-fated 'Deri' . . . |
and goes through Sioned’s erstwhile Dairy and into the garage.
. . . and removes the cover from the inspection pit |
He picks up a small wrecking bar and uses it to slide the cover of the inspection pit to one side, then looks down.
"I'll be back soon" |
“I’ll be back soon,” he tells Dylan,
The injured Dylan is still clinging on to life |
who, amazingly, is still surviving, down in the hole.
He is covered up once more |
The cover is slid back into place and Dylan is again in the dark.
