DJ prepares frittata for breakfast . . .

When Sioned comes downstairs, she finds DJ is already cooking breakfast;  “Have you finished milking already?” she asks, 

. . . after having been out milking the cows

“I’ll do everything tonight, I promise – something smells nice.”

He tells her he is making a frittata;  

"It's a pity I don't have a cast iron pan"

“But it’s a pity I don’t have a cast iron pan – I thought I could take it to the interview.    It would look more professional if I had my own tools.”

He can see that Sioned is looking dubious

He notices that Sioned appears to be having doubts, and wonders if she has had time to talk to her mother.   “There’s no need to tell anyone anything yet,” she replies, 

"I would understand if you changed your mind"

and he appreciates that it is a big thing and he would understand if she changed her mind.

"That looks delicious"

Now the food is ready and Sioned says that she is starving;  “It looks delicious.”

"Crikey Moses!   On a biscuit?"

In Bryntirion, as Dai is being served his scrambled egg, he exclaims, “Crikey Moses!   On a biscuit?”   

"A Garibaldi or a Jammie Dodger?"

Diane points out that it would be different, but Anita does not share her enthusiasm.   “It’s not enough to put it on a card, but you have to remind everyone on a Garibaldi or a Jammie Dodger?” he demands.

"We should stick to paper"

Anita agrees with him;  “What’s the point of putting a ‘Save the Date’ on something edible?   We should stick to paper and there are some lovely ones here.”

"This is a wedding  – not a 100th birthday party!"

Diane regards them as old-fashioned;  “This is a wedding – not a 100th birthday party!” she sneers.   Kelly comes in and asks what they are talking about;  

"'Save the Date' cards"

Jason explains that they are discussing ‘Save the Date’ cards that Auntie Neet has found online.

"No way!   Complete waste of paper!"

“No way!” is Kelly’s considered opinion, “Complete waste of paper!”   Diane concurs that it is bad for the environment – but a biscuit, on the other hand . . .

"I'm sending it over WhatsApp"

Kelly is not even going to ask what she is talking about, explaining  “I’m sending a ‘Save the Date’ over WhatsApp.”   

"Yes, very wise"

Dai thinks that is very wise, as it will save trees in the Amazon – and money.   Anita is outraged by the mere suggestion, insisting that they have to do something more official than that, or people will forget.

"Forget – ah, well, that's their loss"

“Forget – ah, well, their loss,” is Kelly’s dismissive reply, 

"You may call me old-fashioned . . ."

but Jason intends to put his foot down here.   He agrees with Anita, although Kelly may call him old-fashioned, 

". . . but I want it down on paper"

but he wants it on paper so there is no doubt that they are getting married.

"There are some lovely ones here"

“There are some lovely ones on this website,” Anita goes on, “All you have to do is put your details in, pick your words and colour, then order as many as you like.”

Diane demands whether they have made a guest list, which they have not yet done, but again Anita is one step ahead of them 

Kelly is given a list

and presents Kelly with a list of people from their side of the family who need an invitation.

"Susan and Peter?"

“Susan and Peter?   I don’t know who they are!” says Kelly, and is informed that they used to babysit her.   

"My best friend Glenys"

Diane adds that there are a lot of people on their side that need to be invited.

“Glenys – my best friend Glenys,” she begins, 

"Not Glenys 'Pop' again!"

and Dai looks at her critically;  “She’s started looking for a hat already.”   

Kelly is supremely disinterested and is now going to the village.   Anita volunteers to accompany her, so they can discuss the list.

"I can't think of anything worse!"

“I can’t think of anything worse!” Kelly groans, and Dai permits himself a smile.   

"Obviously my opinion counts for nothing"

“Jason – you organise it, OK?   Because obviously my opinion counts for nothing!” she snaps as she leaves the house.

"Glenys 'Pop' will have to sell her hat on eBay"

“There we go – Glenys ‘Pop’ will have to sell her hat on eBay,” Dai suggests.

A leaking bag of sugar

Eileen comes into the kitchen at Penrhewl looking rather fraught;  she picks up a pack of Silver Spoon sugar and finds that it is leaking.   

"Hello, Eileen"

As she goes across to the sink there is a knock at the door and she discovers that it is Alaz, who greets her.   

Eileen is very pleased to see him

She is overjoyed to see him and gives him a hug.

"You go and have a shower, Britt"

Outside number 21 Britt and Colin get out of the car, and he tells her to go and have a shower while he brings everything inside.   

"I can do it myself, Col"

“I can do it myself,” she protests, “I don’t know why you insist on coming with me when Iolo’s there with me.”

"You need to be careful"

He is adamant that she needs to be careful, especially with what happened with the other day, and in any case he likes looking after her.   She describes it as, “Fussing – I’ve been there once since then and I came back in one piece.”

"I enjoy seeing you being happy"

He continues that he enjoys being with her;  “I enjoy seeing you being happy and enjoying life again.”

"Have you seen what Rhys has done?"

Mathew comes out of APD and notices Anita approaching;  she moans, “Have you seen what Rhys has done?” 

Another estate agent is now involved

and we see that the ‘For Sale’ notice has now changed to a different estate agent.   

"They sell holiday homes to rich people"

Mathew informs her that the firm sell holiday homes to rich people.

“After all the discussions I had with him when I was selling it – and now he’s attracting people from away,” she complains, 

"What did you expect from Rhys?"

but Mathew wonders what she expected from Rhys.

"Jason needs to book time off"

She continues, “Listen – while I remember – Jason needs to book time off.   The last two weeks of July and first week of August 2024.   

"And everyone needs to book August 3 off!"

“And everybody needs to book August 3 off – just block it out, right?”   Mathew enquires why everyone needs so much time off, 

"Don't tell anyone"

and she whispers, “We’ve booked the wedding – but don’t tell anyone.”

"Your English is very good, Alaz"

Eileen gives Alaz a cup of tea and compliments him on his English;  

"I have been learning"

“I have been learning,” he tells her, and she is very glad to see him.   

"You can go anywhere in the UK now?"

She asks whether he can go anywhere in the UK now, 

He shows her his residence permit

and he displays his residence permit.   

"I want to say 'Diolch' to you and Sioned"

“I want to say ‘Diolch’ to you and Sioned for helping me.   You helped me very much.”

"You can stay in Sioned's old room"

She enquires if he has somewhere to stay, and tells him that he is going to stay in Sioned’s old room.

"You're selling a second-hand skillet?"

At Deri Fawr, Sioned is on the phone;  “I noticed that you’re selling a second-hand skillet online,” she says, but then gets a shock;  

"That much?   No thanks"

“That much for a second-hand one?   No thanks.”   

Then Sioned has a bright idea

Then inspiration strikes and she knows exactly what she is going to do.

"We need to talk, Iol"

Mark arrives at number 7 as Tyler is leaving another message for Iolo;  “Phone me back when you can, Iol – we need to talk.”   

"He's still not answering his phone . . ."

He complains that Iolo is still not answering his phone, but he is posting things on Instagram, 

". . . but he's posting things on Instagram"

particularly one picture of himself and Britt, entitled, ‘Washing away the past,’ which he takes to be a reference to himself.

"Don't read too much into it"

He is warned not to read too much into things like that;  “People don’t tell the truth through hashtags.”

"I'm just kicking myself"

“I’m just kicking myself for making a mess of things with Greta again,” groans Tyler, “I just hope she’s OK.”   

"He wouldn't go for a jolly to the river, would he?"

Mark points out that Iolo would not go for a jolly to the river if there was something wrong with Greta.   He should just give Tyler a bit of time, and remarks that the place is looking  tidier.

"I had a bit of a spring clean"

“Yes, I had a bit of a Spring clean – I’m sorry about how I’ve been acting recently – 

"There's a lot going on"

“there’s a lot going on.”   

"I won't smoke in the house any more"

Mark concedes that he will not smoke in the house any more;  he will make a cup of tea while Tyler tries to contact Iolo.

Sioned sneaks into Penrhewl . . .

Sioned sneaks into Penrhewl 

. . . and gets a shock

and receives a great shock when she finds Alaz sitting there;  

"How are you, Sioned?"

“How are you?” he asks, and she is very glad to see him 

"You've learned English"

and that he has learned English.   She also hugs him, and was under the impression the house was empty.   

"Eileen is getting some 'Sekire'"

He explains that Eileen is out getting some ‘Sekire’ (presumably sugar, to replace the damaged bag) and Sioned assumes that she is making a cake.

"You'll have to come over to Deri Fawr some time"

“Yes, birthday,” he says, and she invites him over to Deri Fawr some time.   She reaches into one of the cupboards and removes one of her mother’s cast iron skillets, 

"Don't let Eileen take advantage of you . . ."

as she warns him, “Don’t let Eileen take advantage of you – if she does anything wrong, come to me, OK?   

". . . she's not as nice as people think"

“She’s not as nice as people think.”

This puzzles Alaz

Alaz appears puzzled by this, but Sioned is in a hurry to leave before Eileen comes back;  “You didn’t see me – I’m really glad you’re back – 

"Not a word to Mam!"

“not a word to Mam!”

Mark goes into the bookshop

Mark is hobbling past the bookshop and when he goes inside 

"If you're here to fleece me . . ."

he is told, “If you’re here to fleece me . . .”   

"I'm still considering my options"

Mark maintains that he is still considering his options, and asks where Iolo is.   

"If you're looking for a plumber . . ."

“He’s busy all day, so if you’re looking for a plumber . . .” Siôn replies.

"Tyler is worried"

Mark continues that Tyler is worried, as Iolo is not answering his calls.   

"It's nothing to do with me – or you!"

“It’s nothing to do with me – or you!” Siôn reminds him, but he is told that he cannot stop Tyler talking to his own daughter.

"I know that Tyler has upset Iolo"

“I would usually agree with you, but as I understand it, Tyler is to blame;  now I don’t know the details, but I know that Tyler has upset Iolo.   Listen – if he’s sent you over here to smooth things over, tell him he’s wasting his time.   

"You and Tyler keep your noses out"

“If Iolo doesn’t want to talk to him, that’s it!   I’d suggest that you and Tyler keep your noses out.”

Kelly's mind appears to be elsewhere

Kelly is sitting in the Deri, gazing into space, when Jason comes in;  

"So this is where you're hiding"

“So this is where you’re hiding,” he says.   She makes it very clear that she is actually not hiding, but is working.

"I like to think about what I'm going to do . . ."

“I like to think about what I’m going to do before I start typing – get it?   

". . . and I also forgot my laptop"

“And – I forgot my laptop this morning when I stormed out!”   

Jason has come to put that right . . .

Jason has already worked that out, 

. . . and she is reunited with the laptop

and presents her with the laptop. 

"Are you ready to start typing now?"

He asks, “So are you ready to start typing now, or are you still thinking about it in your head?”   

She thanks him, and he agrees that this morning was a bit . . .   

"Full -on?   Pushy?   Suffocating?"

Kelly fills in the blank with a few suggestions, “Full-on?   Pushy?   Suffocating?   Stuffy?   Childish?” but he insists they were only trying to help.

"I want to get married without fuss, please"

“I want to get married without fuss, please,” she says, “I want everyone on the list to stay at home actually.”   He thinks that it would be a shame if Sharon and Dave missed out, 

"Peter and Susan"

and she corrects him, “Peter and Susan – and do you know what?   I do remember them – they would babysit me in order to watch TV and use the washing machine.”

“Well, who do you want to come to this wedding, then?” he wonders, 

"People that are important to us"

and she replies that she wants family and friends – people that are important to them, not Peter and Susan.

Jason says that is who they will invite:  

"As long as you're there, I'm good to go!"

“As long as you’re there, I’m good to go!   Diane and Anita are not the ones getting married – tell me, who’s allowed to come to this exclusive wedding?”

They make a start on their own list with Iolo and Mathew, then Jason suggests, “Jinx?” 

"Why him?"

and she wonders why his name has been included.   “Why wouldn’t we want him there?” asks Jason, “He’s our friend and important to you.   There is one another little thing I wanted to clear with you – these ‘Save the Date’ cards.”

"Not that again, Jase!"

Kelly makes a gasping noise, as he maintains that it is important to him;  

"I want it in black and white"

“I want it down officially on paper in black and white.   Sending it over WhatsApp or on a biscuit won’t work with me – sorry.”

"No flowers, no hearts – nothing girly"

“Go on, then – we’ll rip trees out of the forest just for you,” Kelly agrees, “But no flowers, no hearts, nothing girly.”   Now he really has to go to work and they agree that they are all right.   

Jason kisses her

They kiss, and he warns her not to work too hard.

"Iolo will take me tomorrow"

Colin is washing up when Britt comes back downstairs, advising that Iolo has just phoned to say that he will take her tomorrow morning.   “I don’t mind taking you again, so I can keep an eye on you,” he protests, 

"There's no point in taking two cars"

but she says there is no point in taking two cars.   “Who will make your hot water bottle?” he demands, and she she replies that she will do that herself, and take cakes as well.

"I enjoy watching you"

As Colin goes on about enjoying sitting there and watching them, 

"Col, stop babysitting me"

she tells him, “Col, stop babysitting me – I’m not a child.   I do appreciate everything you do for me, but there’s no need to hold my hand all the time, you know?   I enjoy wild swimming – and I know what I’m doing now.”

"You're like a goldfish"

Colin describes her as being like a goldfish, 

"I might win the channel to France"

and she jokes that she might swim the channel to France before long, 

This worries him

which causes him some concern.

"You can have a lie-in tomorrow"

“I’ll try and be quiet tomorrow morning, so you can have a lie-in, OK?”

"I've got a surprise for you!"

Sioned is working in the kitchen at Deri Fawr when DJ comes back in;  “Close your eyes – I’ve got a surprise for you!” she says 

She hands over the stolen skillet

and presents him with her mother’s skillet.

"Where did you get that?"

“Where did you get that?” he demands, and she says that she did not want him missing out in the restaurant just because he does not have the right tools.

"Moving to Ireland, a new start – everything"

“And I want you to know how much I want this – moving to Ireland, a new start, everything.”   

"You and me against the world"

He maintains that it is the two of them against the world.

Anita wants a hat for the wedding

Anita shows Diane a picture on her phone of a hat she is considering, which Diane regards as a bit OTT;  

"Amanda should be wearing the big hat"

“Amanda won’t like that – she should be wearing the big hat.”

"We're making all the decisions"

Kelly arrives back at the house and advises that she has ordered the ‘Save the Date’ cards.   “But we’re making all the decisions,” she stresses, “I don’t want any randoms – and I don’t want Peter and Susan – got it?”

All will be explained in the next episode

It is hoped that that the illustration she shows them is not the actual item ordered, as the date is given as 28 March this year.   

"I must go and open a bottle of bubbles"

Diane proposes that she should open a bottle of bubbles, 

"There's no need for that, Diane"

although Kelly insists that is not necessary.   “I’m determined to open a bottle of champagne for every decision we make about this wedding,” insists Diane.

Kelly retires to the sofa

Kelly simply retires to the sofa with her laptop and is looking very tired.

As Tyler serves two customers . . .

Tyler serves a couple of customers in MFC 

. . . he sees Siôn outside

and then notices Siôn walking past outside;  “Do you know where Iol is?   I’ve been trying to get hold of him.”

“I know,” is Siôn’s reply, “He doesn’t want to talk to you.”   

"He's not answering my calls or texts"

Tyler says he is worried as none of his calls or texts are answered.   “He must have good reason – you disappeared without a reason or explanation.   I’ve bitten my tongue since Christmas – and I’m trying to stay out of Iolo’s business, 

"All you've done is upset him time after time"

“but all you’ve done is upset him time after time.   I don’t want to know the details, but I don’t like to see my son and my granddaughter being upset like this.”

"It won't happen again"

Tyler admits that he made a mess of things the other day, but that it will not happen again.   

"How many times has Iolo heard that?"

“How many times has Iolo heard that?   And how many chances have you had?” Siôn growls.

"Will you talk to him, Siôn, please?"

Tyler begs him to talk to Iolo, but is told that he is coping with things at the moment;  “He is better now than he has been for ages – he doesn’t need you in his head – phoning him all the time, or sending Mark Jones to talk to me isn’t helping things,

"I wouldn't care if they never saw you again!"

“Leave him alone – and leave Greta alone, too.   Unless you sort yourself out, I wouldn’t care if they never saw you again!”
