Jason is sleeping it off

Jason is obviously feeling the after-effects of last night, as he is sprawled on the sofa at Bryntirion, still wearing his costume.

"Wake up, Jase"

Kelly comes in and tries to wake him, with no success, but then picks up two glasses from the table, the noise of which startles him.

"I was drinking whiskies with Mam"

“Are you all right?   What’s happened?” he demands, and Kelly wonders why he is sleeping on the sofa.   “I was drinking whiskies with Mam until late,” he replies.

"That's why she's been hogging the toilet since 5:30"

Kelly realises that is why she has been hogging the toilet since half past five this morning.

“I feel rough, too,” she adds, and Auntie Neet is mortified, because Mam is so embarrassing!”

"Oh yes – her and Siôn!"

He can remember something between her and Siôn.

"Mandy – Amanda?"

At that moment, Siôn, in his dressing gown, is coming downstairs in Y Felin, calling Amanda’s name,

She has left him a note

but she appears to have gone, having left a note for him.

"All right, Dad?"

He hides it in his pocket when Iolo also comes downstairs, and confesses that he has a bit of a hangover,

"Nothing a strong coffee wouldn't sort out"

but nothing a strong coffee would not sort out.

Iolo heads for the kitchen, but then turns

Iolo takes the hint, but on his way to the kitchen

"Are we going to talk about what happened last night?"

asks, “Are we are going to talk about what happened last night?

"NI saw things no son should ever see his father do!"

“I saw things no son should ever see his father do.”

Siôn does not understand so he elaborates, “Last night, you and . . . Mandy.”

Now Siôn remembers

It is all beginning to come back to his father, who wonders why he knows about this.

“Well, I thought someone was trying to break into the house when I heard a noise in the garden.”   His father is dreading what will come next;

"I didn't just hear – I opened the curtains!"

“Yes, and I didn’t just hear – I opened the curtains.

"Good job we have no neighbours"

“Well, I’m going for therapy – and thank goodness we don’t have any neighbours, Dad!”

Siôn appears to have enjoyed it

Siôn smiles as he remembers last night.

Garry has things on his mind

Garry is looking very concerned as he stands in the Deri flat;  steps can be heard on the stairs and then Tyler walks in.   “You’re only getting back now?” Garry demands.

"No, I've been on a date and just been dropped off!"

“No, I’ve been on a date and I’ve just been dropped off!” Tyler snarls angrily, “I’m tired, Garry, right?   You said I’d be back by Greta’s bedtime!   I went to Cheltenham to steal the car –

"You didn't say I had to drive all the way to flipping Newcastle!"

“you didn’t say I had to drive all the way to flipping Newcastle!”

"I assume everything went all right?"

Garry admits that he did not know that;  “But I assume that everything went all right.”

Tyler protests that there was security and it was more risky than he thought;

"I'm angry – I've been up all night!"

“Yeah, I know there are always risks – but I’m angry – I’ve been up all night!”

"As long as the client was happy"

Garry is simply interested in whether the client was happy, and Tyler thinks he was.

"We have to wait for our next job"

“We just have to wait to find out when our next job is,” Garry goes on, which Tyler takes to mean ‘his next job’.   “You’ve done one job – there are two left, then you’re free,” Garry assures him,

Tyler storms off

and he walks out without another word.

A quick swig before washing up the cup

Eileen is putting dishes into the sink

Alaz arrives

when Alaz comes in;

"Good afternoon!"

“Good afternoon!” she says sarcastically, and he confesses that he does not sleep very well.

"I am excited for move house and start new job"

“I am excited for move house and start new job,” he continues, which troubles Eileen.   “I find work in APD and move to shop with Mathew.”

"Why are you leaving me?"

She cannot understand why he is leaving her,

"You are kind, and I appreciate"

and he appreciates that she is kind to him.

"Are you going to clean the cowshed before you go?"

“It doesn’t feel like it,” Eileen says, “Are you going to clean the cowshed before you go?   “You’re two hours late as it is –

"You won't get away with that in APD!"

“and you won’t get away with that in APD!”

Alaz makes a hasty exit

He replies that of course he will clean the cowshed and makes a hasty exit;  Eileen is concerned about losing her cheap source of labour.

"Where on earth have you been, Ty?"

Mark is coming awkwardly downstairs when Tyler returns to the house;  “Where on earth have you been?” he demands, “I’ve been worried about you, Ty – you left your phone.”

"Not now, Mark"

Tyler does not want to talk about it,

"Mathew and Jason are after your blood"

but is told, “Mathew and Jason are after your blood – you walked out without saying anything!”

“I know, but this job came up and I didn’t have time,” he explains,

"Iolo is worried sick"

but is reminded by Mark that he was supposed to see Greta, and Iolo is worried sick.

“Mark, please – I’ve been up all night.   All I need is a nap and a shower and then I’ll explain things to Iol – but only when I have the energy.”   Mark suspects that he is up to his stealing again.

"You're still alive, then, Jinx?"

Jinx is walking past the shop when Jason comes out, and is pleased to see that he is still alive.   “Sorry for disappearing last night,” he says, and Jason points out that it would have been nice to have his best man there until the end.

"I didn't realise how strong it was"

“What happened?   Did the punch go to your head?” Jason asks, and Jinx did not realise how strong it was;  he is in a hurry to go, but Jason informs him that the suit is ready.

"I'll bring the suit over later"

He will bring it over later to see if it fits,

"Sugar and grease – that's what you need!"

and recommends, “Sugar and grease – that’s what you need!” as he goes into APD.

Jinx is thinking on his way back to Cysgod y Glyn

As he stands on the street corner, Jinx is thinking.

Gwyneth has tracked down Tesni

Tesni is asleep on the sofa in the shop flat when Gwyneth arrives, bringing her some flowers;

"You look a lot better"

“You look a lot better,” she comments, and Tesni says that she has been following the doctor’s advice and resting.

“It’s obvious that Mathew has been looking after you,” Gwyneth continues, and Tesni lies that she was going to phone today to explain.

Gwyneth makes herself comfortable

Gwyneth sits down in the armchair

"I was afraid I'd done something to upset you"

and says that she was afraid she had done something to upset Tesni, but is told that is not the case.

"Mathew offered let me stay here"

“Mathew was there when the doctor said I need to rest, so he offered to let me stay here.   There’s no one here during the day.”

"I would have made sure you got plenty of space"

“I would have made sure you got plenty of space,” Gwyneth maintains, but it is stressed that with her, Cassie and Gwern, things would have been difficult.   Tesni did not want to be a burden on her –

"It's easier to stay here, out of everyone's way"

“it was easier to stay in the shop flat, out of everyone’s way.    Again Gwyneth stresses that she did not have to and offers to make a cup of tea.

Tesni is putting on a brave face

Tesni still does not know what to believe.

Jason unloads the van . . .

Jason is taking tools out of the van

. . . and notices Tyler

when he notices Tyler coming out of the door of number 7;

"Tyler – I want a word with you"

“Hey – Tyler!” he shouts, “I want a word with you!”

"Not now, Jason"

“Not now, Jason! he moans.

Sioned is speaking to DJ in Ireland

Sioned is at Penrhewl and is speaking on the phone, “Fingers crossed, then.   Listen, I’d better go – she’s back!   Speak to you later.”

"Not now, Sioned!"

Eileen comes in and immediately tells her daughter, “Not now, Sioned – I’ve got enough on my plate today.”

"I've just spoken to Alaz"

Sioned replies that she has just spoken to Alaz, and Eileen growls, “Did he tell you about his big plans?”

"Going to train as an electrician . . ."

“Yes – he said hes going to train as an electrician with APD – nice isn’t it?   It’s a good opportunity –

". . . but you only consider how it will affect you!"

“but you don’t think about him, do you?   You only consider how it will affect you.”

"I'm sure that's what John Deri Fawr said"

Eileen protests that she has given him food and a home.   “I’m sure that’s what John Deri Fawr said,” remarks Sioned,

"You can't compare me with him!"

and her mother is infuriated that she should be compared with him.

"Pay him a fair wage, do you?"

“So you pay Alaz a fair wage, do you?” Sioned goes on,

"We have an understanding"

and Eileen insists that they have an understanding.   “£100 a week, he said – is that how much Eifion got when he worked here?   He got board and lodgings didn’t he?

"You're just the same as John Deri Fawr!"

“You’ve taken advantage of Alaz – you’re exactly the same as John Deri Fawr!   No wonder everyone leaves you –

"It's only a matter of time before Huwi realises"

“it’s only a matter of time until Huwi does, when he realises what his mother’s like!”

Off goes Sioned

Sioned storms out of the farmhouse, leaving her mother to digest these home truths.

"I was relying on you yesterday"

“I was relying on you yesterday, Tyler,” emphasises Jason, “I had a stag to prepare for.”   Tyler once again says that he is sorry;  “How many times have I heard you say that recently?

"I send you to do a job – you don't turn up"

“I send you to do a job – you don’t turn up.   Then you go AWOL – and you don’t answer your phone.”

"It wasn't my fault!"

Tyler protests that he had to do something urgently and it was not his fault;  “I’ve that one before as well!” sneers Jason.

"It will never happen again!"

Tyler insists that it was an emergency and promises that it will never happen again.

"No, it won't, because . . ."

“You’re right – it won’t, because Mathew and I have had enough – and I’ve got a message from him –

". . . you don't work here any more!"

“you don’t work here any more!”

"But I need this job!"

Tyler whines that he needs this job,

"You should have thought about that"

but is informed that it is too late now and that he should have thought about that before taking people for granted.

Tyler wallops the counter in his rage

Tyler thumps the counter in his frustration and walks out of APD.

"I've been so worried about you, Tes"

As they sit, drinking tea, Gwyneth stresses how worried she has been;  “That you’re afraid to come home after what Dylan said.   What he said has broken my heart –

"I'd never hurt anyone" — pull the other one!

“I’d never hurt anyone, you know that, Tes.   I’m just worried about what he’ll do next.   Have you heard from him?”

Tesni shakes her head

Tesni shakes her head.   “He said he’d come to see you,” Gwyneth continues,

"I'm used to him letting me down"

but Tesni confirms that she has not heard from him, regarding that as typical Dylan;  she is used to him letting her down.

"With friends like me and Cassie"

“You don’t need him – not with friends like me and Cassie to look after you,” Gwyneth assures her, “Stay here as long as you need to recover properly – you’ll always be welcome at home.   Phone if you want anything, OK?”

Gwyneth leaves and Tesni is no wiser

With that she leaves the flat, and Tesni is still unsure where the truth lies.

The wedding dress has arrived . . .

At Bryntirion, Kelly opens the box

. . . somewhat revealing?

containing her wedding dress

Kelly looks delighted with it

and looks enthusiastically at it.

Tyler goes to Y Felin;  “Greta’s not here – and if she was I wouldn’t have let you in!” Iolo informs him.

"You said I could see her"

Tyler maintains that he was told he could see her;

"That was before you let her down"

“But that was before you let her down – I was worried – Greta was in tears before going to bed, because she expected you to read her a story!”

"I wanted to be here"

Tyler insists that he wanted to be there,

"You've never been there for her!"

but is emphatically told, “You’ve never been there – you made a promise and you let us down!   Mark texted me this morning to say you were home safe – he said the explanation was a ‘last-minute job’.

"I know exactly what sort of 'last-minute jobs' you do!"

“I know exactly what sort of ‘last-minute jobs’ you do.”

"And you know what I do them"

Tyler protests that Iolo knows why he does them;

"You could have texted or phoned"

“You could have texted or phoned – instead of letting your daughter stare at the front door!” Iolo shouts, “I gave you an opportunity to see your daughter and you couldn’t!”

"Things aren't black and white"

“It’s complicated – things aren’t black and white,” Tyler argues,

"They are black and white to Greta!"

but Iolo points out that they are black and white to Greta –

"Now she doesn't want to see you – it's her decision"

and that she does not want to see him – it is her decision.   Tyler demands to be allowed to talk to her.

"What – 'I'll be there next time', is it?"

“And what will you say?   ‘I promise I’ll be there next time.’   You decided to do these jobs!”

Crestfallen, Tyler leaves the house

Tyler realises that there is nothing else he can say and slinks away from the house, leaving Iolo furious.

Jinx's reflection in the picture

Jinx is trying on his best man suit when the buzzer sounds;  he finds that it is Jason,

Unusually, he goes down to the door . . .

so goes downstairs and opens the door.

. . . where Jason adds the finishing touch

Jason is impressed with his appearance and supplies the finishing touch, a tie pin.

All of a sudden, the door begins closing . . .

As Jason walks away, for some reason the door closes,

. . . leaving him stuck outside

and of course Jinx does not have a key with him.

"To say sorry, and thank you, Eileen"

Eileen is preparing vegetables when Alaz returns to the farm, carrying some flowers, “To say sorry, and thank you.”

"You don't have to apologise"

She replies that he does not have to apologise and tells him to sit down.

“I’ve been looking at books – the money –

"I might be in a position of offer you more money"

“and I think I might be in a position to offer you more money.   £150 – and you get your board and lodgings, of course.”

"I want to be electrician, and move to village . . ."

“Thank you – but I want to be electrician, and I want to move to village –

". . . but I always help you"

“but I always help you.   Goodbye, Eileen.”

Eileen is shorthanded again

He leaves the house.

There is a knock at the door

As Kelly tries on her wedding dress, there is a knock at the door and a voice announces, “This is Jinx here.”

"Now's not a good time!"

She shouts that she cannot come to the door;  “Please, Jinx, don’t come in, OK?   Now’s not a good time!”

She does her best to cover up

He insists that he needs to talk to her and opens the door, as Kelly tries to cover herself up.

"Jinx – you look lush!"

We see them both reflected in the mirror, and she tells him, “You look lush!”

"Kelly, you look . . ."

He remarks, very perspicaciously, that she is wearing her wedding dress;  “Kelly, you look . . .” he begins,

"I can't do this – I can't come to the wedding"

but then is overcome by emotion;  “You know what – I can’t do this – I can’t come to the wedding.   I want you to be happy and I accept that you haven’t chosen me,

"I can't watch the woman I love marry someone else!"

“but I can’t watch the woman I love marry someone else – sorry!”

"Jinx – wait!"

Within a couple of seconds he is out of the door, with Kelly shouting after him to stop;

She closes the door . . .

she closes the door

. . . and looks very confused

and looks devastated.

This time Tyler is waiting for Garry

Garry comes into the Deri flat, where Tyler is waiting for him;

"You're late – where have you been!"

“You’re late – where have you been?” Tyler snarls.

Garry replies he had stuff to do in the garage.

"I can't do any more of these jobs"

Tyler makes it very clear, “I can’t do any more of these jobs – I’ve just lost my job in APD and my little girl doesn’t want to see me.”

"Do you realise how many times Gwern has said that?"

Garry closes the door as he growls, “Do you realise how many times Gwern has said he doesn’t want to see me?   Children forget, Ty.”

"What's the point if I push her away?"

“I know that, but I’m doing all this for her – what’s the point if I push her away?” Tyler demands.

"So you don't want the £20,000?"

“So you don’t want the £20,000 or a new home for your child?” enquires Garry, but is told that it is not worth the risk of ending up in jail – or worse.

"I'm going to make the best of what I've got"

“I’m taking this opportunity to have a relationship with my daughter, OK?   Make the best of what I’ve got,” Tyler explains.   Garry points out that it is not as simple as that.   “You said I could leave whenever I wanted!” Tyler protests, and is warned that things have changed.

"I'm in a bit of trouble – and I need your help"

“The thing is, I’m in a bit of trouble – and I need your help,” Garry tells him, but Tyler is unwilling to save Garry’s skin.

"I don't want to know!"

“Do it yourself!” he snarls, “Has something happened, eh?   If so, I don’t want to know!”

"The gang in Newcastle will come after you"

“The gang in Newcastle won’t let you go until you finish this job – they’ll come after you.”

"Find someone else"

Tyler tells Garry to find someone else;

"They want you – sorry, Ty"

“There is no-one else – they want you.   I’m sorry, Ty, but that’s the way it is.”   Tyler leaves the flat.
