7 March 2023

"Did you enjoy your chicken wings?"

Tyler arrives at Y Felin, looking pleased with himself, and hopes that Iolo enjoyed his chicken wings;  “Yes, I’ll be in the gym in the morning, working it off,” he replies.

"Greta is playing at Annabel's"

Tyler is disappointed that Greta is playing at Annabel’s, as he had hoped that she would be there.

"What are you doing here?"

Then Siôn comes downstairs and demands, “What are you doing here?”

Tyler says that Iolo asked him to come over,

"I thought Tyler could fix the gate"

and Iolo, on the spur of the moment, fabricates the excuse that he thought Tyler could help sort the gate out;  “It’s broken and it drags along the ground,” he says, “I thought you could fix it.”

"I'll go and have a look at it"

Tyler agrees that he will have a look at it and goes outside.

"We'll you've made your bed"

Siôn looks reproachfully at his son;  “I could have fixed that!” he snaps, “Well, you’ve made your bed.”

"You could go there after the wedding"

At Deri Fawr, Sioned suggests, “You could go out there after Kelly’s and Jason’s wedding – give you the chance to go to the restaurant.”   As DJ transfers the food from the cast iron pan to her plate, he proposes that she could come with him.

"Dic has organised for us to see some houses"

“Dic has organised for us to see some houses while we’re out there,” but Sioned says that she trusts him.   “I’ll send you a few pictures,” he continues,

"I need at least two photos of every room"

and she stipulates that she requires at least two of every room.

"We need to put in our notice"

“And we need to talk to John as well, about putting in our notice.”

“After all the work we’ve done here – and the way he treated us?” she snarls, “A month’s warning is enough!”   DJ regards it as a pity that they went to so much bother and cost,

"We did our best to make this place a home"

so she points out, “We did our best to make this place a home – but it hasn’t worked out.”

“I was thinking it would be nice to have a leaving party,” she adds,

"We don't want any fuss"

but he does not want a fuss.   “Of course we want a fuss – I want to leave this place with a bang!” she declares, and then she tastes the food DJ has prepared for her;  “This is lovely – I’m so glad I got you that pan.”

"Where did you get it?"

DJ enquires where she got it, and Sioned gives the unlikely reply that she cannot remember, but he continues to press her

"It was Mam's"

and she finally confesses, “It was Mam’s.”

"Right – take it back!"

He immediately instructs her, “Take it back!”   She naturally refuses, so he stresses, “Yes – and when you do, you’re both going to patch things up!”

"Remember what she said last time we were there?"

Sioned is adamant that they will not;  “You remember what she said the last time we were there?   What’s the point, anyway, when we’re moving away?”

"You don't want this stress . . ."

“Listen, I don’t expect you two to be best friends – but we’re having a fresh start.   You don’t want this stress with your mother to follow us –

". . . and you want to stay in touch with Huwi-John"

and you want to stay in touch with Huwi-John.   Right, I’m going to wash that pan – because I don’t want my fingerprints on stolen goods!”   Sioned is not at all happy about this.

Tesni is still on the floor . . .

At number 9, Tesni is still lying motionless on the floor, but then opens her eyes

. . . but regains consciousness

and attempts to move, but finds it very painful experience.

"Can(I book a party, please Dani?"

Sioned marches into the Deri and asks Dani if she can book a party;  Colin is nearby and hopes that he can come.   Sioned replies that everyone is invited;

"We're going to Ireland"

“DJ and I are leaving Cwmderi – we’re going to Ireland to join Dic.   The offer’s too to good to refuse.”

"Your mother must be heartbroken"

Colin is very surprised and assures her that she will be missed;  he imagines that her mother must be heartbroken.

"I'm sure she'll be fine"

“I’m sure she’ll be fine,” Sioned answers.

Tesni is managing some movement . . .

By now Tesni is managing to move across the floor towards the table,

. . . as Siôn passes the house

and outside Siôn is walking past the house.

She cannot quite reach her phone

She reaches up for her phone, but again cannot quite grasp it and groans with pain.

Siôn hears her dries for help

Siôn hears this and knocks on the door;

"Somebody help!"

he hears Tesni calling for help

"I'm going to get help, Tesni!"

and looks through the letterbox.   “Tesni, I’m going to get help, but I’ll be back as soon as I can – all right?” he shouts.

"You've already lost us one job this week!"

Tyler has gone back to APD to pick up some tools;  “I’ve promised to do Iol a favour,” he tells Mathew, but is reminded that he has already lost the firm one job this week and now he is using the company’s stuff free of charge.

Siôn calls for Mathew's assistance

Siôn comes rushing in and shouts for Mathew, “I think Tesni’s sick but she can’t open the door – can you help?”

"You lock up, Tyler"

Mathew thrusts the shop keys into Tyler’s hand and tells him to lock up, then dashes off with Siôn.

"Don't tell him you're in love with him!"

At number 7, Mark is becoming very angry with the television programme he is watching;  “No, don’t tell him you’re in love with him!” he shouts, “Oh, come on!”

"Brad's not his real name, anyway!"

Colin enters through the back door, as Mark continues, “Brad’s not his real name anyway!”

"What do you want, then?"

“What do you want, then?” Colin asks,

"It's all about this cupcake business"

and Mark begins to explain the plot to him – something involving giving £30,000 to someone to start a cupcakes business.

"I didn't mean sitting one your backside"

“I told you to find a hobby,” Colin reminds him, “I didn’t mean sitting on your backside, watching TV all day.”

"I took your advice, Col"

Mark replies that he took the advice and went to the shop to buy gardening equipment, which is in the box over there.

"That doesn't happen very often"

“I enjoy it when people take my advice – it doesn’t happen very often,” Colin remarks, “It will do you good – give you some focus – definite.”

"Howe about making a cup of tea, Col?"

As he is there, Mark would like him to make a cup of tea and lend a hand.   Colin is pleased to assist.

"It took me half an hour"

When Sioned returns to Deri Fawr, DJ has cleaned the pan, and says that it took him half an hour.

"I'll take it back now"

She seems to be in a considerable hurry to take it back to her mother, wanting to get it out of the way.   DJ looks rather apprehensive.

As usual, the back door seems to have been unlocked

Mathew and Siôn come in through the back door of number 9 and are told by Tesni, “I can’t move – I’m in such pain!”

"No, we mustn't move her"

They do not know how long the ambulance will take to arrive, and Mathew insists that they should not move her, but does not know what to do.

"Go and fetch the van, Mathew"

Siôn tells him to go and fetch the APD van

Siôn is very concerned about her

and is extremely anxious.

It is almost mealtime

Eileen is putting the plates on the table for a meal when Sioned comes in;

"I'm just bringing this back"

“I’m just bringing this back – I borrowed it,” she says,

"I don't remember you asking"

but her mother does not remember her asking.   “You weren’t here,” says Sioned, so she is instructed to leave a note next time.

"There won't be a next time`"

“There won’t be a next time,” Sioned informs her, “DJ and I are leaving – we’re moving to Ireland – to live – in a month.”

"This is typical of you!"

This takes Eileen by surprise and she growls, “This is typical of you – you’ve lost all interest in Deri Fawr now, haven’t you?

"You always make a big show!"

You always make a great show of having these big ideas – but you lose interest!”

"I might want to leave because of you"

“Has it ever crossed your mind that I want to leave because of you?” demands Sioned.

"Are you surprised `I'm leaving this place to Huwi?"

“One small thing goes wrong, and Sioned runs away – and you’re surprised that I’m leaving this place to Huwi?   You would sell it within a year!   Go to Ireland – I don’t care –

"Don't come running to me when it all goes wrong!"

but don’t come running to me when it all goes wrong over there!”

"I should have moved a long way from you years ago"

“You can be so cruel – I should have moved a long way from you years ago,” snarls Sioned as she leaves the farm.

"I think I've put it the right way round"

At Y Felin, Tyler is packing away his tools and informs Iolo that he has fixed the gate.   He remarks that it was rather late when he finished, but he thinks that he has put the gate back the right way round.

“Did you need all those tools?” Iolo wonders,

"I wanted to make sure I did a good job"

and Tyler says that he wanted to make sure he did a good job, to show that he was serious.

"You didn't take your top off?"

“You didn’t take your top off and take photos of yourself, did you?” Iolo laughs, but Tyler does not find this funny, and is given an apology.

"I only did that for Greta"

“Come on, Iol, you know that I only did those videos to make money to buy stuff for Greta.   I’ve told you before – everything I do is for Greta.”

"It doesn't justify what you did to Eifion . . ."

Iolo does not want to discuss this now, and angrily remarks that it does not justify what he did to Eifion;

". . . or the stealing"

“Or the stealing you do with Garry – thank you for the gate – you can go now.”

Tyler leaves the house

Tyler picks up his tool box and leaves.

"How did it go, then?"

When Sioned gets back to Deri Fawr, DJ asks her how it went;  “You haven’t booked the flights yet, have you?” she snaps,

"I'm coming with you!"

“I’m coming with you!”   He jokes that he knew she did not trust him to go house-hunting by himself.   “No – I want to leave!” she insists, and he points out they will not have a lot of time for a leaving party.

"I just want to move away from Mam – now!"

“I don’t want a party – I just want to move away from Mam – now!” Sioned exclaims.

Eileen is packing away Sioned's belongings

Meanwhile at Penrhewl, Eileen is angrily packing Sioned’s belongings into a box when she comes across a photograph album

Eileen and Denzil with the twins

containing a photo of her and Denzil with the new-born twins, Sioned and John.

She bursts into tears

This reduces her to tears.

"How did you manage to bring this in?"

Colin picks up the heavy box and wonders how Mark managed to get it inside;  “I gave the driver of the taxi a £2 tip for bringing it in.

"It's gardening stuff"

It’s gardening stuff – I want you to take it upstairs for me,” Mark says.

“What sort of gardening does a person do upstairs?” Colin asks

"Tropical plants"

and is told that Mark is going to grow plants – tropical plants.

"Oh – you're not?"

“Oh – you’re not?” Colin gasps.

"The doctor's with Tesni now"

Siôn is waiting anxiously at the hospital when Mathew comes in to advise that the doctor is with Tesni now.   He appreciates that she did not look great recently,

The doctor approaches

and then the doctor approaches,

"No – I'm a friend, Siôn"

mistaking Siôn for her father.

"She has given you as her next of kin"

Tesni has given Mathew as her next of kin, and the doctor explains that she has had a bad flare-up;  “All the scans are clear, but she is very dehydrated, so she’s on a drip for now.   She’ll need to stay in for a few days for observation.   I assume that you’ll be looking after her after she’s been discharged.”

"Her housemates are on holiday"

Mathew mentions that her housemates are on holiday at the moment, and that they usually look after her.

"It's best if you come back tomorrow"

Tesni is asleep at the moment and it is best if they come back tomorrow.

Mathew looks rather overwhelmed

Mathew looks rather uncertain at this new responsibility which has been thrust upon him.

The rather uncomfortable crowbar

Iolo sits down on a chair by the table at Y Felin and realises he is sitting on a small crowbar, left behind by Tyler;  he looks at it, then takes a drink from his can of Carlsberg

He debates what to do

and debates what he and is going to do.

He leaves, with the crowbar

After a moment, he makes up his mind, picks up the crowbar and leaves the house.

"You told me to find a hobby"

“You told me to find a hobby to help me relax,” complains Mark, while Colin is looking at the various equipment.

"This is not what I meant"

“You know very well this isn’t what I meant,” Colin reprimands him, but Mark insists that he will have the best of both worlds – a bit of horticulture,

"I don't have to pay some dealer loads of money"

and he will not have to pay some dealer loads of money.

"But what if you get caught?"

“But it’s wrong – what if you get caught?” Colin warns him, but Mark seems naïvely confident that he will not be caught and again stresses that it is for medicinal purposes.   “Oh yes – medicinal – how could I forget that?” Colin sneers.

"Are you going to help me?"

“Are you going to help me shift this stuff upstairs, or what?” Mark demands,

"An accomplice to 'El Marko'?"

but Colin is unwilling to become an accomplice to ‘El Marko’;  “Come on, ‘Cartel Col’ – you know how heavy it is – I can’t shift anything with this foot.   Colin eventually acquiesces, and will help him – on the condition that, when the foot is better, he gets rid of the job lot.

"All right – deal"

Mark agrees that he has a deal.

Sioned looks at the travel options . . .

Sioned is looking at the website of irishshiptravelforyou.co.uk

. . . and DJ is reading 'Farmer's weekly'

while DJ reads the ‘Farmers Weekly’ magazine.   She comments that it is a waste of time having the television on, so he turns it off, as it is a waste of electricity.

"Who's that at this time of night?"

Then they hear a car arriving outside and a knock on the door;  wondering who it is at this time of night, DJ goes to find out and the car can be heard driving away.

A box has been left by the door

When he comes back in he is carrying a box, which he says is for Sioned.

"She always has to have the last word"

When she looks inside, she snarls, “Typical Mam – she always has to have the last word!”

"Right, let's book that ferry"

but now she is even more determined that they book the ferry.

Tyler is eating his frugal meal

Tyler is picking over the remains of his meal, presumably leftovers from MFC, when there is a knock at the door and he finds that it is Iolo.

Iolo returns the tool

“You forgot this,” he says, handing over the crowbar;  he also has some cans.    “And I brought these to say thank you for today.”   He says that Greta is with Cai.

"I've done some terrible things"

They are both sorry about earlier, and Tyler appreciates that Iolo is angry;  “I’ve done some terrible things,” he says.

"You did the wrong thing for the right reasons"

Iolo stresses that it is not easy to forgive him, and he understands that Tyler did the wrong thing for the right reasons.

“But you told me you’d stopped,” he goes on, “You can’t blame me when Greta and I see you at the garage,

"Obviously doing something dodgy"

obviously doing something dodgy.”   Tyler concedes that it was stupid;

"I will stop, Iol"

he promises to be honest in future and will stop.

“You’ve said this before,” Iolo protests, and is assured that Tyler has spoken to Garry and explained everything.

"So the stealing has stopped?"

“So the stealing has stopped?” Iolo demands.

"When I've finished these jobs"

“No, not yet – but when I’ve finished these jobs, it will have,” is the reply.

Iolo knows very well that there will be other jobs after this;

"Another one – and two more after that!"

“And then there’ll be another one – and two more after that!”

"Garry's offered me a deal"

Tyler insists, “Not this time – Garry has promised – it’s worth a lot of money and Garry’s offered me a deal on number seven that I can’t turn down.   I can’t afford to buy a house by myself with my record and the jobs I’m doing.   This is my chance to start again.”

"At least, you're being honest"

Iolo is pleased that at least he is being honest, and Tyler promises that once this job is done, it will be over;

"Please, just let me see Greta!"

“Please, just let me see Greta!” he begs.

"I'll text you to arrange it"

Iolo agrees that he can come over next week, “While I’m there – I’ll text you to arrange it.”   So saying, he leaves the house

Is Garry really going to let him walk away?

and Tyler is looking cautiously optimistic.
