Next morning, Dylan walks in the through the doors of the hospital ward

. . . but she is no longer there |
and is very concerned to see that the bed previously occupied by Tesni is now empty. He looks at it with horror, and, after considering his next move, walks straight out again.

Gwyneth sees Gwern across the road |
Gwyneth is coming out of the shop when she sees Gwern;

He wants his FIFA game |
“Did you have a nice holiday?” he asks, “You did promise to bring back the new FIFA Game as a present for me.”

"I can't remember doing that" |
She pretends that she cannot remember doing that, and he demands, “Mam!” Gwyneth says that she might have something for him at home.

"What are you going to do – sue us?" |
At Deri Fawr, Sioned is on the phone to John, the owner of the farm; “What are you going to do – sue us?” she asks, “Listen, we’ll be out of here in two weeks – so you’re not getting another penny out of us!”

"He put the phone down on me!" |
Then she complains to DJ that John put down the phone on her; “What did he say, then?” he wants to know and she replies that he said that if they leave they will not be welcome back there. He will be phoning back later so that they can confirm that their decision.

"We've made our minds up" |
“We don’t need until tonight, we’ve made our minds up,” DJ stresses,

"Well, we've done all this packing" |
and Sioned adds that they have done all this packing.

"The three bags by the door are for Apêl Maenan" |
He enquires if she is sure she wants to take all that stuff, and she advises that he will be happy to know the the three bags by the front door are going to Apêl Maenan – now.

"I might change my mind about a few dresses" |
DJ asks why she is in such a hurry, and she is afraid that she might change her mind about a few dresses.

"Do you want anything else from the village?" |
“Do you want anything else from the village?” he asks, and she suggests he could get some chips for dinner.

"I don't want to see pictures of you in a bikini" |
As they go into number 9, Gwyneth says that she has lots of photos to show her son before he plays any game. “I don’t want to see pictures of you and Cassie in bikinis,” he groans,

Then they have a visitor |
and then there is a knock at the back door; Dylan walks in and asks Gwern how he is.

"I'm looking for Tesni" |
Dylan says that he is looking for Tesni, and is immediately told she is in hospital.

'That game's on my bed" |
Gwyneth sends Gwern upstairs to play with his game, which is on her bed; “Go and practise.” He is quite sure that he does not need to practice to thrash her, as she is worse than Dylan at games.

"Depends on what games we're playing, Dylan" |
Once they are left alone, Gwyneth comments, “Depends on what games we’re playing, doesn’t it, Dylan?”

"Where's Tesni?" |
but all he wants to know is where Tesni is. “I don’t know – I thought she was still in hospital, she answers, and he points out that she left last night.

"She won't want to see you after what you said" |
“Wherever she is, she won’t want to see you after what you said,” Gwyneth snarls.

"She gas a right to know what happened to her mother" |
Dylan insists that she has a right to know what happened to her mother. “If she hasn’t come back, perhaps she’s starting to work things out,” he suggests,

"Cup of tea?" |
but Gwyneth is confident, as she has not admitted to anything. “I know,” Dylan declares, “You lied about the dates you were released from prison – you did it!” Gwyneth simply smiles and asks if he would like a cup of tea.

"Sorry about then way I turned up" |
Mathew also brings a cup of tea for Tesni, as she thanks him for letting her stay; “I’m sorry about the way I turned up,” she says.

"Anything is better than a hospital bed" |
He is simply glad that she has slept today, and had been worried that the spare bed was a bit uncomfortable. “Anything is better than a hospital bed,” she tells him.

He is pleased that she looks a lot better this afternoon than she did, but he does not know what Gwyneth will say.

"She doesn't need to know for now" |
Tesni replies, “She doesn’t need to know for now, does she? So much goes on there with Cassie, Gwyneth and Gwern there a lot – I just need some peace. And Gwyneth can be a bit much – she’s lovely and I’m really grateful, but when I’m ill, she’s just there, checking what I’m eating, how much sleep I’m getting.”

When Gwyneth hands the cup of tea to Dylan,

he pours it down the sink without hesitation; “Suit yourself,” she growls,

“I want to hear you say it – that you killed Jaclyn,” he snarls, “I can say it louder if you like, so that your son can hear what sort of a woman his mother is.”

Gwyneth laughs, “He’s got his PlayStation headphones on. I imagine that not knowing what the murderer will do next is the most difficult thing – especially if they want to punish you.

She confesses that she had kept these items and was not sure what what to do with them now; she realises that it was silly to buy things so early.

DJ is sympathetic, and recalls it was hard to tell what colour the paint was upstairs, with all the damp. “Half of me wants to stay here,” she confesses,

“And start a family?” Sioned suggests, which he hopes will be the case. He just wants to see Sioned happy again –

“Then I have to go through it all again and again, every morning. But remembering that Jaclyn is dead isn’t the worst part – it’s realising that it was all my fault! So you’ve got what you wanted – I hate myself!”

Dylan simply wants to hear her say it; “And what if you’re recording me?” she asks. He assures her that he is not doing so.

but only then notices Gwern standing at the bottom of the stairs, who has witnessed this action.

As Dylan lies inert on the floor,

Gwyneth maintains that it was an accident; “How long have you been down here?”

He explains that he heard them arguing, and knows that Dylan tried to kill her.

She picks up her phone and dials a number; she is not summoning an ambulance, but is rather ordering Garry, “Come here now!”

Tesni is watching afternoon television and then picks up her phone,

scrolls to Dylan’s number, but thinks better of calling it

. . . but then changes her mind |
and resumes watching the television.

As Dylan's life slowly ebbs away . . . |
Dylan is still lying there, with Gwern and Gwyneth sitting nearby;

“Is he still breathing?” Gwern asks, and his mother confirms that he is, begging her son to go upstairs while she sorts this out. “I don’t want to leave you alone with him again,” the boy protests.

Garry rushes in through the back door and sees the motionless body on the floor; “What have you done?” Gwern is quick to point out that Dylan was trying to strangle his mother, and implores his father to help them.

Then there is a knock at the front door and Garry instructs them to keep quiet;

it is Matthew outside, who shouts, “Gwyneth – are you home?”

and as Mathew walks away, he repeats the order.
After the boy has done as he is told,

Gwyneth growls, “He turned up here and accused me of killing Jaclyn – if Gwern wasn’t here . . .”

When Mathew returns to the shop flat, he apologises for being late, but has a surprise for her. Then he asks if she is all right;

“Yes, I hope you got chicken nuggets as well,” she says. He imagines that this is something to do with Gwyneth, and cannot understand why Tesni does not want her to know where she is.

She thinks the best way forward is to keep quiet about what happened today; he should not to tell anyone, even Dani.
She asks if he can do that and he agrees that he will; “Go up for a shower and I’ll make some food, OK?”
