"Jason, can you answer your phone, please?"

As she comes out of the shop, Sara is leaving a message on her phone, “Jason, can you answer your phone, please?   I really want to talk to you – phone me back, please.”   

Jason is trying to keep out of her way

She crosses the road to number 9 and does not notice Jason, who is hiding just outside APD.

Aaron hammers on the door in a state of panic

Suddenly Aaron comes running across the road and hammers on the door of number 7;  “Please – open the door, Garry, please!” he screams, 

A figure with a baseball bat is following him

and we can see that he is being followed by someone, wielding a baseball bat, who is approaching through the alley.

The door opens and Aaron disappears inside.   

He stands by the door of the house

Garry confronts the assailant;  

"Yeah . . ."

“Yeah?” he says, taking out his phone, 

". . . one for the album – smile!"

“One for the photo album – smile!”   

The man retreats

The man slinks away along the street and Garry goes back inside.

Obviously Mark had a late night

At Maes-y-Deri, Mark is asleep on the sofa with various cans and an empty pizza box on the table;  he panics when he wakes up and realises the time.  

He suddenly realises the time . . .

 “Oh, no!” he shouts, and hurries upstairs, 

. . . and discards his headset

pausing only to take off the headset he had been wearing.

Aaron is very frightened

At number 7, Aaron is peering anxiously around the curtains;  “Here you go,” Garry tells him, but he does not want it.   

"It's got sugar in it"

“There’s sugar in it – that’s what you’re supposed to do after having a shock – drink sweet tea.”

"Are you going to tell me what's going on, then?"

Now Garry gets to the point, “Are you going to tell me what’s going on, then?   Who was he?”   

"It was nobody"

 Aaron’s answer that it was nobody does not convince him, 

"He wasn't here to buy you a frothy coffee!"

and he demands, “What have you done?   He wasn’t here to buy you a frothy coffee – he had a baseball bat!   So who was he?”

"My girlfriend's brother"

Aaron comes up with the lame excuse that it was his girlfriend’s brother, 

"Two-timed her, have you?"

and Garry suspects that he has upset her somehow;  “Two-timed her?   So why was he here?”   

"I don't know. Garry!"

Aaron yells that he does not know, and Garry is very suspicious, getting up from his chair.

"What if he comes back?"

“Where are you going?   What if he comes back?” Aaron demands, 

"He won't!"

but is assured that he will not.

"Yeah, what's the emergency?"

Colin goes to see Mark;  “Yeah, what’s the emergency?” he asks, as he brings in four cans of Skol lager.   

"I slept in and missed work"

Mark replies that he slept in and missed work – he did not do it deliberately, but was playing a couple of games with Andrea.

"How late did this go on?"

Colin wonders how late this game went on, and Mark remembers looking at the clock, which said four in the morning.   “You’re worse than Aaron!” exclaims Colin, “He likes gaming – but he also likes his sleep, and doing a day’s work at school.”   

"I'm not sure you deserve these cans"

Mark promises that it will not happen again, and Colin is not sure that he deserves the cans.

"A quick and tasty Pad Thai for you to enjoy"

At Penrhewl, one of the instructional videos is being recorded;  “And there we are – a quick and tasty Pad Thai for you to enjoy,” says Eileen.   

"You make it look so easy, Mam"

Sioned congratulates her on making it look so easy, thinking that even she could cook it;  “But why would I bother, with you doing such a good job,” she goes on, and they decide that they will get six or seven people to trial the recipé.   

Now they need to test their recipés

“We should use one couple, one family and someone who lives alone – I really think this is going to work!” she says, enthusiastically, “The food’s tasty, the directions are simple . . .”   

"And the high quality produce"

Eileen adds that there is high-quality produce, and they wonder how they can possibly fail.

"What are you doing here?"

When Jason returns to Bryntirion, he finds that Sara is already there;  

"You gave me a back door key, remember?"

she explains, “I’ve got a back door key just in case, which you gave to me.”   

"It doesn't entitle you to come and go"

He protests that it does not entitle her to come and go, 

"If you answered your phone, I wouldn't have to"

but she answers, “If you answered your phone, I wouldn’t have to.”   He reminds her that he has been busy, working.   

"We can have a chat about yesterday"

“Well, you’ve got a break now, so we can have a chat – about yesterday.”   

"I'm not interested in chatting about yesterday"

He makes it quite clear that he is not interested in chatting about yesterday.

"OK, I'll never try and cwtch you again"

“It was a misunderstanding,” she maintains, “OK, I’ll never try to cwtch you ever again!”   

Jason is glad to hear that

He is pleased to hear that, but she continues, “Now that’s settled, can we have a chat about the baby?   You know – the process – 

"Perhaps we can try IVF"

“if the IUI doesn’t work, perhaps we can try IVF.”

"No – I don't want to try any of it!"

His unequivocal answer is, “No, I don’t want to!   I don’t want to try for another baby – I don’t want to try IVF – I don’t want to try any of it!”   

"You don't want a baby any more?"

“What are you saying?   That you don’t want a baby any more?” she gasps, and then realises, 

"Right, you don't want a baby with me!"

“Right, you don’t want a baby with me any more.”   She sighs, picks up her bag and walks out of the house.

Aaron is back at the chip shop flat

Aaron has crept back to the chip shop flat, where he checks to make sure no-one is around.   

He sinks on to the sofa

He collapses on to the sofa, then hears a noise, 

He picks up a handy offensive weapon

so equips himself with a weapon, in the form of a large vase.   

"I thought I told you to stay where you were"

Footsteps approach, and Garry comments, “I thought I told you to stay where you were.”

His presence comes as somewhat of a relief to Aaron, who asks, “What were you doing in my room?”

"You're going to tell me exactly what's going on . . ."

Garry produces a plastic bag containing a large amount of cash; “Now then – you’re going to tell me exactly what’s going on – 

". . . and I want the truth this time"

“and I want the truth this time.”

"We both like the same things"

As Colin drinks from one of the cans, Mark points out that he and Andrea like the same things;  “She makes me laugh a lot as well – and she’s thoughtful.” 

"But you've never seen her in the flesh"

Colin replies, “But you’ve never seen her in the flesh.”   Mark wonders why everyone is obsessed with him meeting Andrea, 

"Why don't you want to meet her?"

but Colin turns the question on to him;  “Why aren’t you?”

Mark comes up with the usual answer that she is busy;  

"Doesn't that worry you, Mark?"

“Doesn’t that worry you?” wonders Colin, 

"I like her independence"

but is told that he likes her independence.   

"Remember what happened to Aaron?"

“Or she’s making a fool of you – remember what happened to Aaron?   Talking to someone he thought was a friend online, playing games all the time.”

“Andrea’s not grooming me,” Mark insists, and Colin suggests that it might not be Andrea at all.   

"If she was deceiving me, I'd know"

“If she was deceiving me, I would know – I’m a lot older than Aaron.”

"There's no fool like an old fool"

Colin remarks, “There’s no fool like an old fool, as they say – and you are old.”   

"You're determined to ruin things"

Mark thinks he is determined to ruin things, but is invited, “Carry on playing games with her all night, if you want.   All I’m saying is, you can’t be sure who she is until you meet her.”   Mark is confident that they will do that.

"Right, organise a date, then"

“Right – organise a date then!” Colin challenges him, “Meet up, so you can be sure she’s telling the truth.”   

"All right, I will!"

In in order to shut him up, Mark agrees that he will organise something, which Colin regards as a good thing, but urges him to do it now.

"So Dylan's running the drugs . . ."

Garry throws down the bag of money on the table and summarises, “So Dylan’s running the drugs?”   Aaron thought if he did it once, he would not have to do it again.   

". . . he's the boss?"

“But you’re saying that Dylan’s running the drugs – he’s the boss?”

"He gave me this blinking stupid phone!"

“He gave me this blinking stupid phone!” snarls Aaron, as he throws it across the room.   

"He's been behind the drugs all this time"

Garry muses that he has been behind the drugs all this time, and Aaron confirms, “Since before Jamie was killed – the girl that was at school with me.   She worked for him – 

"He threatened to do the same to me"

“and he threatened to do the same to me if I didn’t.”

"Leave this with me – I'll sort it!"

Garry picks up the bag of money, assuring Aaron, “Leave this with me – I’ll sort it!”   Aaron is frightened that Dylan will find out, but Garry demands, “Do you trust me?   

"You know I'd never do anything to put you in danger"

“You know I’d never do anything to put you in danger –

"Leave this to me!"

“there we are, then – leave this to me!”

"You're making me nervous, Col"

Mark is again wearing his headset as he attempts to contact Andrea;  Colin’s presence is making him nervous.   “I don’t want you to lose your nerve,” Colin points out.

"Hi, Andrea – how are you?"

Then they are connected;  “Hi, Andrea – how are you today?   I overslept on the sofa – I had to tell the boss I was up all night with a beautiful woman – and he understood.   Are you ready for another thrashing today, or what?   Listen, Andrea, I’ve been thinking, it might be an idea for us to meet up – you know, face-to-face.   You’re not too busy to play games all morning.”

Everything is going according to plan

Colin is pleased with the way the conversation is going, but Mark sounds disappointed;  

"How long are you away for this time?"

“How long are you away for this time, then?   That long?      The thing is – I lent you that money, didn’t I?   

"Now you're going away again"

“And then you were in Singapore – and now you’re going away again.   I know you paid the money back – 

"It looks a little suspicious"

“but you must see that it looks a little suspicious from my side.   Don’t you want to meet up or what?”

"Oh – she's gone!"

Then Mark is dismayed to find that the call has been suddenly terminated, 

It looks as if Colin was right

and Mark thinks that Colin might be correct.

Sara is in a tearful mood

At number 9, Sara has tears in her eyes;  

"Do you want to try my special therapy?"

Cassie proposes a glass of wine, which she calls her special therapy.   “It’s that obvious, is it?” groans Sara, and Cassie appreciates that some days are better than others.

"Days?   It's months for me!"

“Days?   It’s months for me!” Sara whines, and Cassie can see that something has happened today.   

"Everything is such a mess!"

“I don’t know where to start – everything is such a mess.   Things went wrong with Jason, and then even worse during the divorce.   But that was nothing compared to what Dylan did to me.”

"That's old news now"

Cassie reminds her that is old news now;  

"What's wrong with me, Cassie?"

“But it still hurts – I wonder what’s wrong with me – you’ve seen how Dylan fusses over Dani.   And when I see how happy Kelly and Jason are . . .”

"You're afraid of being on your own"

Cassie assumes that she is afraid of being on her own.   “Perhaps that’s why I want another baby – I thought a little brother or sister . . .”   Cassie points out that it will be hard on her own.   

"I asked Jason"

“I asked Jason,” Sara goes on, 

Cassie was not expecting that

and this comes as a shock to Cassie;  “He agreed – I was so excited – but he’s changed his mind today!”

She is assured that she is a good mother;  “Much better than I was!” Cassie growls, 

"You're looking for something to fill your life"

“But you’re looking for something to fill your life – I’ve been there.   

"Even I deserve to be happy"

Sara maintains that even she deserves to be happy.

"That's Megan's box done"

One of the trial recipé boxes is being delivered to Megan, and Sioned comments that it will not be so easy when they have hundreds to pack.   

"One of your sheep was on our land"

Eifion wanders in, without knocking as usual;  “One of your sheep was on our land,” he advises, “I’ve brought her back, but you’ll have to collect the next one.”

He takes an interest in what they are doing 

"This one is Pad Thai"

and Sioned explains that they are trialling fresh meals;  “This one is Pad Thai, and the customers get a link to a video of Mam cooking the food.   You can order a box if you like when we launch,” 

"I love Pad Thai"

but he suggests he could have one of those boxes, as he loves Pad Thai.

"You've never had one, Eifion"

Eileen rather scathingly comments, “You’ve never had Pad Thai!” but he would like to try one.

"Any idiot can prepare it!"

Sioned considers it would not be a bad idea;  “What better way to prove that any idiot can prepare the food?”

The lovely Kelly comes downstairs

Kelly comes downstairs at Bryntirion and asks Jason if he is all right;  

"I upset her this time"

“Sara!” he replies, and Kelly wants to know what she had done now.   “I upset her this time, as it happens,” he says, 

"That's not difficult these days!"

and she remarks that is not difficult these days.

"Do you mean it, Jase?"

“I told her I don’t want to have another baby with her,” he says, rather hesitantly, and Kelly enquires whether he means it.

"I definitely don't want a baby with Sara!"

He repeats, very clearly, “No, I definitely don’t want to have another baby with Sara!   Are you OK with that?”

"I think I can cope, yeah"

Kelly answers, “Am I OK that my boyfriend doesn’t want another baby with his ex?   I think I can cope, yeah.”   What is at the back of both their minds is that Sara may yet press the charges, 

"I don't want to put you in an awkward position"

and Jason does not want to put Kelly in an awkward position, but cannot do it.

"I'm a big girl, Jason"

Actually, Kelly is relieved, obviously, but assures him that she is a big girl and will have to face it, if it happens, but once again, conspicuously, they do not embrace.

Colin sympathises with Mark . . .

At Maes-y-Deri, Colin commiserates with Mark, 

. . . who blames him

who comments, “If you haven’t pushed me to say something, I’d still be gaming and talking to her.”   

"You know where you stand now"

Colin points out that now he knows where he stands, and volunteers to get them a takeaway, 

"I can cook something, if you like"

or even to cook a simple meal.   

"Col, I want to be on my own"

“Col, I want you out!” Mark tells him, “I want to be on my own,” then looks at his phone and sees a message from Andrea.   

"She says she wants to meet me on Zoom"

“She says she wants to meet me on Zoom – 

"Wants to explain something"

“she says she wants to explain something to me – that she’s hiding something.”   

Mark wonders what that could be 

Both of them look puzzled.

Garry carries out an intensive search . . .

Hywel’s house, next door to the Deri, is in a very untidy state, with papers strewn all over the place;  Garry is carrying out a search, and comes downstairs.   

. . . which has not as yet revealed anything

He sits down in the armchair, and looks around for any hiding place he has missed.

He takes an interest in those shelves . . .

He notices the shelves in what used to be the chimney breast 

. . . and feels for a hiding place

and feels around for a ledge, 

He discovers a gun . . .

from which he retrieves a gun, 

. . . the very one with which he was shot . . .

which he has seen before.   

. . . and is determined to use it

He looks as if he knows what he intends to do with it.
