Rhys finds the house in a mess

Rhys comes into his father’s house and is distressed to see what a state it is in;  in the kitchen he picks up a chair and wonders what on earth has happened.  

"I need your help, Rhys"

 Then Dylan rushes downstairs, telling him, “I need your help – I need a favour.   I need you to go to Tapas – 

"The safe keys are there"

“the keys are there.   There’s a safe in the office, with money inside.   It’s the longest key.   I need every penny, OK?   Bring it back to me as soon as possible – do you understand?”

Rhys looks bemused by this

Rhys looks rather bemused by the situation, 

"Do you understand, Rhys?   Please!"

as Dylan shouts, “Do you understand, Rhys?   Please!” and hurries back upstairs.

"Dylan shot her, Cassie"

In the Deri, Garry is emphasising to Cassie, “Dylan shot her!” but she saw him holding the gun.   

"He threw a chair at me"

Garry rages, “He threw a chair at me and the gun . . .”

Dani is speaking to the emergency services on the phone, 

"Quiet – I can't hear!"

and urges him, “Quiet – I can’t hear!” then she continues speaking to the operator, 

"Keep her awake"   OK"

“Keep her awake?   OK,” as she crouches down by the inert figure of Jaclyn.

Again Dylan comes downstairs, carrying a minimum amount of luggage and puts the bag of drugs into his holdall.   

"Have you got it?"

“Have you got it?” he demands, and Rhys replies that he has not.   “I told you to go and get it!” Dylan snarls at him, but Rhys says that he did not explain.

"I need the money now, Rhys!"

“I need the money now, Rhys!” Dylan screams, and Rhys enquires what he has done to the house.   “It wasn’t me, OK?” says Dylan, 

The sound of sirens can be heard

then they hear the sound of approaching sirens;  Rhys assumes that they are after Dylan, 

"Garry's trying to blame me!"

and he explains, “Garry shot Jaclyn, and he’s trying to blame me.   Look after yourself.”   

So saying, he escapes through the back door, and Rhys is still looking very confused.

"What's going on out there?"

At APD, Jason asks Izzy what is going on out in the street;  “It’s the police and an ambulance!”   

"Always plenty to do"

She is busy in front of the laptop, and Jason wants to know, “Do you happen to know why people think APD is in difficulties?   

"Two customers have asked me this morning"

“Two customers have asked me this morning what’s going on – they’re worried that we won’t be able to finish contracts.   You’ve been chasing customers again, haven’t you?”

"People have to pay, Jason"

She comes up with her usual answer, that people have to pay;  

"Although Mathew asked you not to"

“Although Mathew asked you not to,” he reminds her, but she points out that they could do with the money owed.   “No, Izzy, no more!” he instructs her, “I’m asking you to stop now as well, OK?   

"Or I'll have to tell Mathew"

“Or I’ll have to tell Mathew you’ve been going behind his back again!”

Dylan slinks out of Tapas

Dylan has had to go and collect the money from Tapas himself, and looks anxiously along the road.   He makes a phone call;  

"Can I borrow your car?"

“Hi – the weather is turning and I’ve got an emergency – can I borrow your car?”

"Clear for the paramedics"

In the Deri, an armed police officer has put the gun in an evidence bag, and reports that the scene is clear for paramedics.   

"Dylan Ellis shot her!"

Garry, standing nearby, informs him, “Dylan Ellis shot her – you need to go after him.”   The officer tells him to sit down, 

Cassie shakes her head

and Cassie shakes her head in disbelief.

Good luck from Colin

Mark is looking at the laptop, waiting to be connected to Andrea, then receives a text message on his phone;  it is from Colin, wishing him good luck.  There is a knock at the front door;  

"It's Andrea – aren't you going to invite me in?"

“It’s Andrea – aren’t you going to invite me in?” and after some hesitation, 

"Come in – the door's open"

when he tries to tidy up the place, he tells her to come in.

He apologises, “If I had known you were coming, I would have tidied up a bit,” 

"The place looks great"

but she says that the place looks great, and it is lovely to meet him at last.   

"I've been staying with my sister in Swansea"

He wonders how she got there so quickly, and she replies she has been staying with her sister in Swansea.

"I thought it would be better to come here"

“I thought it would be better to come here than meet on a screen,” she tells him, and he is glad she came;  it is nice to see her.

"People use photos from 20 years ago"

“You know what it’s like – people use photos from 20 years ago on their profiles – sorry, sit down, make yourself at home,” he goes on, trying to pick up the empty cans, 

"You look very normal – more than normal!"

“You look very normal – more than normal!   You look prettier than you do on the screen.”

"You're as nervous as I am"

She realises that he is very nervous, as she is, 

"What is it that you've been hiding?"

and he asks if she wants to tell him what it is that she has been hiding.   

"Could we have a cup of tea first?"

She suggests that they could have a cup of tea first.

"I saw Garry with a gun, pointing at Dylan"

In the Deri, DI Wilkinson is hearing from Cassie;  “I was on my way back from checking stock.   I saw Garry with a gun in his hand, pointing it at Dylan.   Jaclyn wasn’t there at that point – I went upstairs to see Dani and the kids.”

"What was Jaclyn doing here?"

The DI enquires what Jaclyn was doing there;  “She works here – she’s the chef,” is the reply, “She’s Dylan’s sister – ex-partner of Garry.”   Now the DI asks who is Dani, 

"Dani is Garry's ex-wife, partner of Dylan"

and is informed, “Garry’s ex-wife – and now partner of Dylan.”

"You didn't see Garry Monk fire the gun?"

“So, to confirm, you didn’t see Garry Monk fire the gun, but you’re sure you saw the gun in his hand before you went upstairs.”   She is perfectly sure of that.   

Things are not looking good for Garry

Garry looks dispassionately at her.

"I told them I had to take the dog to the vet"

“So I told them I had to take the dog to the vet – and I haven’t even got a dog,” says Mark, 

"Did they believe you?"

“I shall find out if they believed me tomorrow morning!   Listen, I’m sorry I brought up borrowing that money – friends were saying things and . . .”

Andrea does not blame them, as his friends are worried about him.   

"I knew from the start that you were genuine"

He maintains that he knew from the start that Andrea was genuine;  “And I don’t care about your past, you know – if there is something.   

"I've got a past as well"

“I’ve got a past as well – we’ve all got history – baggage, as they say.”

“There’s something I want to show you,” Andrea rather hesitantly tells him, “A photo,” 

He needs his glasses for a closer look . . .

and he puts on his glasses

. . . of a fairy in a woodland setting

to see her dressed as a fairy in a woodland setting, 

"Is that you?"

with which he is very impressed.

"That's my 'Cosplay' character"

She explains, “That’s my ‘Cosplay’ character – ‘Cosplay’ – a community of people who dress up as characters from their favourite games, comics or films.   I meet them at conventions and then we play games against each other – and online as well, of course.”   

"That's why you went to Singapore"

Mark says that she looks amazing, and assumes that is why she went to Singapore.

She replies that one of the biggest conventions in the world is out there;  “I go to as many as I can – I love going,” and he can appreciate that, travelling to all those places.   

"A lot of people think it's odd"

“Are you sure?” she asks, “Because a lot of people think it’s odd.”   He assures her that he does not, and is in fact a bit jealous that she has such an exciting life.  “I wanted to tell you, because I couldn’t have a relationship with someone who didn’t understand,” she admits, and he is rather surprised by the word ‘relationship’.   

"It's better that people know from the start"

“It’s better that people know from the start – so you’re OK with it?”   His answer is that he definitely is, and asks if she would like to stay for some dinner, so she can tell him more about this ‘Cosplay’;  she would like that.

"Has there been a burglary?"

Megan arrives at Hywel’s house and apologises to Rhys for interrupting;  then notices the state of the place and suspects there has been a burglary.  Rhys explains, rather unconvincingly, that he is trying to get the place organised.   She would like to speak to Dylan, 

"He's not here – and I don't think he'll be back"

but is told, “He’s not here – and I don’t think he’ll be back either.”   

She is concerned because he borrowed her car this afternoon;  

"He said he would be back soon"

“He said he’d be back soon, but I haven’t heard anything.”   Rhys informs her that it looks as if he has taken advantage of both of them, which she finds surprising.

"Do you think I said the right thing?"

Cassie is worrying, “Do you think I said the right thing?”   

"We both said the same thing"

Dani reminds her that they both said the same thing – Jaclyn on the floor, Garry on the floor, a gun next to Garry.   “But we didn’t see him shoot her,” Cassie stresses. 

"We said what we saw – end of!"

Dani snarls, “We said what we saw – end of!”   Cassie maintains that Garry’s story rings true;  Dylan could have come in, shot Jaclyn and run away.

“Why would he shoot his own sister?” demands Dani;

"Why would he run away after his sister was shot?"

Cassie wants to know why he would run away after his sister was shot, and regards it as suspicious.   “Perhaps he had already gone – we don’t know – we weren’t there!” Dani insists, 

"That's your style – lying for Garry!"

“That’s your style, isn’t it, Cassie – lying for Garry?   The affair with Jaclyn, saying that Dylan had shot him!”

"That's not a lie!"

Cassie denies that is a lie, but Dani screams, “Why are you always determined to take his side?   You can’t see what’s in front of you – Garry had the gun, not Dylan!   

"I know Dylan – he wouldn't hurt anyone"

I know Dylan – he wouldn’t hurt anyone.”

"Enjoy those – they're on the house"

Outside the shop, Colin gives his daughter some free fruit;  “Enjoy those – they’re on the house.”   She says she has not finished work, as she has lots to do and the business is going well.

"I heard some rumours . . ."

“I heard some rumours,” he goes on, but she dismisses them as complete nonsense, stressing that they are working hard to invest in the future.   

"Going for a game of golf, then?"

Megan comes along the street and meets Hywel;  she asks if he is going for a game of golf.

"I bought him these clubs"

“I’ve booked a round for Rhys and me,” he answers, “And I bought these as a surprise for him.”

"Buying his love with gifts, are you?"

“Buying his love with gifts, are you?” she asks, “If you want a better relationship with your son, learn to listen to him.”   

"It's none of your business, Megan!"

He moans that it is none of her business, 

"And Ffion's abortion was none of your business"

but Megan counters with, “And Ffion’s abortion was none of your business, but you interfered – no wonder your relationship is like it is!   You’ve spent your life punishing poor Rhys.”

“I’m not going to be lectured on raising children by you!” Hywel rages, and Megan protests that her children have got nothing to do with this.   

"They turned their back on you!"

“They turned their backs on you – at least I know where my son is!” he growls, and walks away. 

He trundles the golf trolley across the road

He crosses the road to the shop 

"Your best bottle of red wine, please, Colin"

and asks Colin for their best bottle of red wine.

"What's happened?"

Britt comes upon the scene, and wants to know what has happened.   

"I'm waiting for Tesni to phone me now"

Aled tells her that he is not sure, but Jaclyn went off in an ambulance;  “I’m waiting for Tesni to phone me now.   

"I saw Garry go in earlier"

“They’re not saying what has happened, but Dylan is in there, and I saw Garry go in earlier.”

"Stand back, please, madam"

Britt is determined to go inside, but the policeman on guard tells her to stand back;  

"Garry, come out here now!"

she shouts at the top of her voice, “Garry, come out here now!”   The officer tells her to quieten down.

Just the person Rhys did not want to meet

Rhys is approaching the shop when his father comes out with the bottle of wine;  he turns to walk away, 

"Running away again?"

and Hywel demands, “Running away again?   I want to talk to you – you’re happy to share your worries with Megan.”

"At least Megan understands"

Rhys points out that at least Megan understands;  “What do you want to talk to me about?   The weather – cars – golf?   

"You just want to punish me"

“You don’t want to discuss what I do – you just want to punish me.”

"Has Megan put that in your head?"

“Is that what you think, or what Megan’s put in your head?” Hywel demands, and Reese simply walks away.

Jason has had a hard day at APD

Jason comes in through the back door of Bryntirion, looking fed up, and initially does not notice Kelly, sitting quietly;  

"Bad day, is it?"

she assumes that he has had a bad day.   “Izzy – she doesn’t listen to anyone!” he complains, 

"Izzy's starting to get on my nerves"

“She’s starting to get on my nerves.”   

Kelly deduces that Izzy is still chasing debts;  

"Colin was saying that you're bankrupt"

“Colin was saying in the shop earlier that you’re bankrupt,” and she snarls that is exactly why she needs to stop.   “But if people aren’t paying their bills, Jase,” she continues, but he assures her that people do pay, and they had a system which worked fine until Izzy stuck her nose in.

“So you want to pay somebody not to do their job?” Kelly enquires;  

"I just want her to keep her nose out"

he groans that he just wants her to keep her nose out.   

"What are you worried she's going to find out"

“What are you worried that she’s going to find?” is Kelly’s next question.

A spreadsheet of APD customers . . .

We see the answer to that, as Izzy is trawling through online records on the laptop of various jobs, 

. . . and the position of their accounts

one of which particularly attracts her interest, as it is in the name of Jason Francis, and is marked ‘outstanding’.   

She has found something significant

She jots down his name on her pad.

"I think you'd make a good dwarf!"

At Maes-y-Deri, Mark is doing the washing-up as Andrea suggests, “I think you’d make a good dwarf!   I’m a Wood Nymph, you see, so we’d make a good pair, and we could play on the same team.”   

"I'd probably be a good Hobbit"

He considers that he would probably be a good Hobbit, as his feet are hairy enough – he wonders if she would like to see them.   “Not on a first date,” she replies, 

"It's time I was going"

and thinks it is time that she was going.

"Can I see you again?"

He anxiously asks, “Can I see you again?”   

"Of course you can"

She agrees that of course he can, and thanks him for today, which she has really enjoyed.   

He continues the washing-up with a spring in his step

He looks extremely pleased with himself.

"Look – something's happening"

As they wait in the High Street, Aled and Britt notice some movement at the Deri, 

Garry has been arrested

and Garry is led out;  “Garry – are you all right?” Britt asks, and is told by DI Wilkinson that he has been arrested.

"They think I shot Jaclyn"

Garry tell her that they think he shot Jaclyn, and Britt wants to know what she should do.   

"Find Dylan!"

He instructs her, “Find Dylan and phone me!”

Garry is driven away

Both she and Aled watch as the police car is driven away.
