Britt brings Dani something to eat |
Britt comes into number 9, bringing Dani some food; “I thought you could do with something to eat,” she says,
Dani is back on the sofa |
but Dani has retired once again to the sofa and, once again, Gabriel is crying upstairs. “Is this where you slept last night?”
“Yes,” sighs Dani, “I couldn’t sleep upstairs with Gabriel crying,”
"Shall I go up to him?" |
and when Britt offers to go up to him,
"No, I'll go now" |
she continues, “No, I’ll go now,” but makes no attempt to move.
"Has the coroner phoned?" |
Britt goes into the kitchen and sees all the flowers, then asks if the coroner has phoned.
"The post-mortem will be done today" |
“Yeah – the post-mortem will be done by the end of the day,” Dani murmurs;
"Are you sure I can't go up?" |
when Gabriel cries again and Britt offers to go up,
"I'll go now" |
she again adds, “I’ll go now – thanks for the food.” Britt leaves the house
She looks at 'Bwni Bwns' |
and Dani looks at Bwni Bwns.
"Where on earth have you been?" |
DJ comes out of the shop with a pint of milk and Eileen comments, “You’re still alive, then – where on earth have you been? Why haven’t you been up there?”
"Sioned's not replying" |
He replies that he has texted Sioned, but she is not replying.
"She hasn't got time while feeding two little ones" |
“Texted? Do you think Sioned has time to text while feeding two little ones?” Eileen snarls, “You’re a father now – you have responsibilities.”
"Is everything OK?" |
He asks if everything is OK and is told that they would be better if they had names; “Huwi-John has decided to call them number one and number two – it’s getting embarrassing –
"Sort it out – right?" |
“so sort it out – right?”
Dani comes out of number 9 |
As she walks away, Dani is emerging from the door of number 9, still clutching the bunny rabbit, and walks past all the flowers on the pavement outside.
Lleucu comes downstairs |
Lleucu comes downstairs at Y Felin, where her father is sitting at the table and wishes her, “Good morning. I didn’t see you last night.”
"I'm sorry if I've upset you" |
She answers that she went upstairs and did not want to talk. He apologises if he has upset her recently,
"I'm sorry if I've been a bit . . ." |
“And I’m also sorry if I’ve been a bit . . .”
"Unfair, stupid, headstrong, totalitarian" |
He does not get any further, as Lleucu suggests, “Unfair, stupid, headstrong, totalitarian!”
"I only want what's best for you" |
He says that she has made her point, but he only wants what is best for her – surely she can understand that.
"I feel so useless" |
Lleucu protests that she just wants to help and feels so useless; “A card and flowers are not enough.” Cai maintains that they want some peace, but she goes on, “Or support – don’t you think we should do something to show that the village is here for them?”
"Like what?" |
Her father wonders what she has in mind.
Jason has made a list |
DJ arrives back at Bryntirion with the milk and Jason asks him, “Are you ready? I’ve made a list of ideas how to get the money to Matthew by Monday.” DJ insists that there is no point, but Jason ploughs on.
"Asking Eileen for a sub" |
“Plan A – what do you think about asking Eileen for a sub? She’s a millionaire, isn’t she – and you’re family.”
DJ laughs at the very suggestion;
"You don't have a donkey's chance!" |
“You don’t have a donkey’s chance in the Grand National!” he sneers.
"Ask Dai and Diane" |
Jason moves on to Plan B; “Ask Dai and Diane if we can borrow the money.”
"And what do you think they'll ask?" |
“And what do you think they’ll ask?” DJ demands, but Jason replies that they do not have to tell the truth; they will say they need the money for some new enterprise or something.
"Diane will think you've started gambling again" |
DJ points out that Diane is not stupid and will probably think that he has started gambling again, or using the money to pay Kelly for the divorce.
“If I remember correctly, Diane has refused to help before today,” DJ adds.
"Or you could ask her" |
Jason suggests, “Or you could ask her for a loan.”
"And she's going to hand me £20,000?" |
DJ cannot imagine that Diane will just hand him £20,000. “All right, we’ll tell them the truth, shall we? Tell them that we are in a mess.”
"What's plan C. then?" |
DJ grabs the sheet of paper to find out what plan C involves,
"Oh – there isn't one!" |
but discovers that there is no plan C and the whole thing descends into another argument.
"I'll do anything to avoid jail" |
“I’ll do anything to avoid jail,” says DJ, “But with your stupid ideas,
"I'll be behind bars for life!" |
“I’ll be behind bars for life!” and he marches out of the back door,
"To see my children while I still can!" |
informing Jason that he is going to see his children while he still can.
"Dani's not coping . . ." |
Britt has gone to visit Jinx in the shop flat; “Dani’s not coping – she’s not sleeping, she’s not eating, the place is a mess –
". . . she's not doing anything with Gabriel" |
“and she’s not doing anything with Gabriel! It’s as if she doesn’t even notice that he’s there. I’m worried about them, Jinx – it’s not fair on Gwern or Gabriel.
"Someone should with her round the clock" |
“I just think someone should be with her around the clock.”
It is obvious who she means |
Here she points at Jinx and goes on, “It would only be until things get better.”
"Why can't you go and live with her?" |
He is not sure about that and wonders why Britt cannot go and live with Dani.
"Gabriel thinks the world of you" |
“She doesn’t want me – and Gabriel thinks the world of you. You don’t need to worry about Gwern, I’ll deal with him.”
"Sorry, I can't do that" |
Jinx replies that he is sorry, but he cannot do it and Britt is immediately angered;
Britt flies off the handle |
“Wow! I thought you were willing to help, but I was obviously wrong!” With that, she rapidly leaves the flat.
Sioned is sleeping . . . |
At Penrhewl, Eileen finds Sioned asleep on the sofa with the two babies nearby; DJ arrives and shouts, “Hello, hello, hello!” before being silenced by Eileen.
. . . but DJ's loud arrival . . . |
He is carrying various balloons and toys and by now Sioned has awoken.
. . . wakes her up |
She greets him, “Hello, Dadi”
"They've grown since you last saw them" |
and her mother sarcastically remarks that they have grown since he saw them last.
"I hope they'll have names before they turn one!" |
She just hopes that they have names before they turn one year old.
Lleucu is printing photos of Seren |
The printer at Y Felin is turning out pictures of Seren;
"Don't you think we ought to let Dani and Britt know?" |
Cai asks Lleucu, “Don’t you think we should let Dani or Britt know about the vigil? I don’t want it to look like we are trying to hijack their grief somehow.”
"An opportunity for the village to come togeher" |
Lleucu explains that is not what they are doing, but giving an opportunity for the village to come together –everyone who has been affected by Seren’s death – and the explosion in the Deri.
"But is it our place to organise it?" |
Cai is doubtful whether it is their place to organise it.
"A chance for everyone to process things" |
She argues, “It’s a chance for everyone to process things – who would oppose that?”
Jinx looks at his photos . . . |
Jinx is looking at photos on his phone, particularly one of him and Dani with the three children;
. . . and is having second thoughts |
he is obviously having second thoughts.
"I finally got Gabriel to go to sleep" |
Gwern comes downstairs and finds the door open; he says that he finally got Gabriel to go to sleep, but then finds that Dani is missing.
"Why is the door wide open?" |
Britt comes in, wondering why the door was wide open. He says that he found it like that when he came downstairs
"I don't know where Dani is" |
and he has no idea where Dani is.
Britt rings her number and finds . . . |
Britt straightaway tries to ring Dani,
. . . Dani's phone is on the table |
but her phone has been left on the table; they both hurry out to go in search of her.
Jinx come out of the shop flat . . . |
Jinx is carrying a couple of bags out of the shop flat
. . . and walks through the alley |
and walks through the alley with them.
Britt runs across the road |
sees him from across the road;
"I'll move back in" |
“You were right – I’ll move back in with her, OK?” he tells her.
"Jinx, phone the police, will you?" |
Britt is now concerned that Dani has gone somewhere, without her phone or jacket and has no idea where she is; “Jinx, phone the police, will you?
"I don't want to lose another one of my family!" |
“I don’t want to lose another one of my family!”
"That's a bit 'naff'!" |
Sioned considers that the babies’ names should not be alliterative, which she describes as ‘a bit naff’.
"Why not call them Huwi and John?" |
Huwi, who is nearby, suggests, “Why not call them Huwi and John?”
"One of them is a girl" |
but is reminded that one of them is a girl.
"Llinos and Llion?" |
DJ muses, “How about . . . Llinos and Llion?” but she reminds him that she just said she does not want them to be alliterative. She sighs that it is difficult, and DJ comes up with Angharad or Dafydd, which she describes as boring names.
"Lili Wen Fach and Jan y Jwc" |
Huwi-John comes up with, “Lili Wen Fach [a Welsh nursery rhyme about a snowdrop] and Jac y Jwc,” [a character from the Welsh children’s television programme Sali Mali]
"They're not bad – Lili and Jac" |
Actually, Sioned quite likes those names; “They’re not bad, Lili and Jac,”
"Huwi-John strikes again!" |
while DJ comments that Huwi-John strikes again. Sioned asks DJ if he is happy and he says that he is,
"There is something else" |
although there is something else they should discuss as well.
"Everything was like a strange dream" |
“Look, I don’t remember much about what happened after the birth – everything was like a strange dream, wasn’t it?”
"A nice dream" |
He remarks that it was a nice dream as well. They do not know what will happen in the future,
"The perfect bubble that we have" |
but for now she does not want anything to burst the perfect bubble that they have.
Jason is looking for a job . . . |
At Bryntirion, Jason is on the phone; “You don’t happen to know if any other pubs are looking for staff?” he begs,
. . .then something gives him an idea |
but the call is fruitless.
Britt is very worried |
Britt is pacing up and down at number 9;
"I'm going to look for her" |
“No, I can’t do this – I’m going to look for her,” she decides. Jinx reminds her that the police said to wait here in case she comes home, then rephrases that to ‘when she comes home.”
"I expect she's gone for a walk" |
Britt tries to convince herself that nothing has happened and that Dani has just gone for a walk,
"We could have another cup of tea" |
so why do they not have another cup of tea? Then Britt hears a noise outside
"What's going on out there now?" |
and demands, “What’s going on out there now?”
There are people out in the street |
She opens the door to find numerous people with balloons and photographs of Seren in the street.
"What do you think you're doing?" |
“What do you think you’re doing?” she asks
"Showing how much we are thinking of the family" |
and Lleucu replies that they just wanted to show how much they are thinking of the family.
"By having a carnival in the street?" |
“By having a carnival in the street?” Britt shouts, but Lleucu points out that it is a vigil to remember Seren and they will be releasing balloons – an opportunity for everyone to come together.
"I've never seen anything as tacky in my life!" |
“I’ve never seen anything as tacky in my life!” is Britt’s reaction,
"We're trying to help, Britt" |
but Cai insists that they are trying to help. Lleucu has been feeling terrible – indeed they all have.
"Ah, right – I know what this is!" |
“Ah, right – I know what this is – you’re making a big show to show that you’re not guilty!” rages Britt, “Dani asked you to look after Seren in the car.”
"My daughter was in danger" |
Cai stresses that his daughter was in the warehouse, in danger; “I told Seren to stay in the car – how was I to know she would come in?”
"You're responsible for Seren's death!" |
Britt is now irrationally convinced that Kai is responsible for Seren’s death.
"I wouldn't let my children anywhere near Mr Rossiter!" |
Jinx tries to calm her down, but she continues to rant, “I wouldn’t let my children anywhere near Mr Rossiter!” and he warns her to be careful about what she says.
"He doesn't give a damn about anyone but himself!" |
“Did you hear that? He doesn’t give a damn about anyone but himself!” Then they suddenly become aware of the approach of Dani, accompanied by a police officer.
Dani is back with a police escort |
She says that they would not allow her to see Seren and Jinx escorts her into the house,
"I haven't finished with you, good boy!" |
while Britt informs Cat, “I haven’t finished with you, good boy!”
"Right, take all the balloons down now" |
She tells everyone to go home and leave them alone.
"This is Jac and Lili is over there . . ." |
Eileen comes into the farmhouse as Sioned is nursing one of the twins; she tells her mother that the baby she is holding is Jac and Lili is over there.
". . . thanks to Huwi-John" |
“The names are thanks to Huwi-John – and DJ was lovely – he cuddled Lili for ages.”
Eileen says that it is important that they get used to him; Sioned hopes that he will be here more often from now on – just as a father,
Jac and Lili are the important ones" |
which her mother regards as very wise, stressing that Jac and Lili are the important ones now.
Maternal bliss |
She predicts that Sioned and DJ will be perfect parents.
Now Jason is going to sell clothes |
Now Jason is taking photos of clothes – DJ’s clothes, in fact, which he says he is selling online.
Some items have already found buyers |
“Seven shirts are off to Llandeilo – two trousers two Lampeter, for £15 – we have nothing else to sell!”
"We won't raise £20,000 by Monday" |
DJ is not convinced they will raise £20,000 to give to Matthew by Monday.
"The horse box was a mistake" |
He realises that the horsebox was a mistake and they could sell that.
"It was the Flamingo, wasn't it?" |
“Yes, I remember you saying – it was the Flamingo, wasn’t it.”
DJ reports that they only went to one festival and the takings were not bad,
"That's our answer!" |
so Jason says that it is their answer, “The Flamingo!”
"We wont make £20,000 in one weekend" |
It is pointed out to him that it will not make £20,000 in one weekend.
"Mathew will see that we're trying" |
“Perhaps not, but Mathew will see that we are trying – DJ, come on, please! What do you say?” DJ rather half-heartedly agrees,
"Well, I'm keeping this!" |
but stipulates that he is keeping one of the shirts, which Sioned bought for him.
"It won't happen again" |
At number 9, Jinx is assuring the police officer that it will not happen again;
"I just wanted to see Seren" |
Dani says that she is sorry, but she just wanted to see Seren. Jinx comments that she cannot adjust turn up at the morgue like that.
"Why don't you and Gwern go to get some food?" |
Britt suggests that he and Gwern go to MFC to get some food; “Support Gwern and go to get some food.”
"I wanted to give her 'Bwni Bwns'" |
“I just wanted to give her ‘Bwni Bwns’ before the post-mortem,” Dani mutters.
"Cai Rossiter trying to ease his conscience" |
Britt is sorry that she had to see all the fuss out there in the street; “Cai Rossiter trying to ease his conscience – you asked him to look after Seren in the car, didn’t you? So what right did he have to act like a saint out in the street?”
"I'm going for a lie-down" |
Dani wants to go and lie down;
"Don't you worry about that Cai Rossiter . . ." |
“Yes, off you go, love – don’t worry about that Cai Rossiter.
". . . I'll make sure he pays for what he's done!" |
“I’ll make sure he pays for what he’s done to our family!”
