Rhys swaggers in

Rhys comes into the Deri and tells Cassie “Whatever you’ve got on this afternoon, cancel it.   The ‘Ceffyl Du’ beer is ready and I’m inviting you to an exclusive tasting session.”   

"I'll come!"

Mark is sitting nearby and volunteers to come, but Rhys is not so keen to see him, pointing out that it is not a drinking session – 

"A soiree for well-respected business owners"

more a soirée for well-respected business owners like Cassie.

Cheryl is behind the bar and finds this quite amusing;  

"I have to visit Dan in hospital"

Cassie replies, “Even though it’s an honour to be invited, I can’t because I have to visit Dan in the hospital.”

"What time works for you?"

“Well, what time works for you?” Reese goes on, but she protests that she has a million and one things to do there.   

"You deserve to go"

Cheryl volunteers to do it if Cassie leaves a list;  “You deserve to go and enjoy yourself,” she says.   

Cassie does not seem particularly eager

Rhys says that he will see Cassie there.

"There's no need to plead guilty"

In the deli, Malcolm Edwards is talking to Eileen;  “Complete nonsense – there’s no reason to plead guilty,” he tells her, “Mr Owen and Mrs. Francis were trespassing – they scared you so much, Mrs Probert . . .”

"Please call me Eileen"

Eileen urges him to call her by her first name, so he continues, “Eileen, until you were shaking in fear – and in that state. you accidentally fired the gun.”

Dani is about to come in . . .

Dani is just approaching, but as soon as she opens the door and sees the two of them sitting there, 

. . . but soon decides otherwise

she immediately goes out again, 

"I want you to get justice!"

as Malcolm confidently tells Eileen, “I want you to get justice!”   

Those two are puzzled by Dani's behaviour

The two girls sitting by the window think that Dani’s actions are rather strange.

“When I want something, I usually get it,” he goes on 

"I have full confidence ion you"

and Eileen has full confidence in him.

"It's a lovely idea, Mark"

Back in the Deri, Mark asks Cassie, “Do you think she’ll like it?”   Cassie regards it (whatever it is) as a lovely idea 

"Burger, is it?"

and will now get Mark his burger;  

"With chips, please"

“With chips, please,” he adds.

"Fancy going out for dinner tonight?"

Cheryl asks him, “Do you fancy going out for dinner tonight, Mark?”   He makes an excuse about not being that hungry, complaining that his guts are feeling a bit dodgy.   

"I have to force something down"

She reminds him, “You’ve just ordered burger and chips,” and he maintains that he has to force something down.”

“And you’ve wangled an invite to the brewery,” Cheryl goes on;  he says that he has to support Rhys.   “OK, then – come back here afterwards and we can walk home together,” she suggests.

Their meeting is over . . .

Outside the deli, Malcolm and Eileen shake hands and he says he is looking forward to working with her.   

. . . and Malcolm walks away

He turns and walks along the street, where Dani is waiting round the corner 

"What did you want with Eileen?"

to step out and ask him, “What did you want with Eileen?”

“Eileen’s taken a shine to me, I’d say,” he replies.  

“She wouldn’t be so keen if she knew what you were really like,” Dani snarls.

"A dumb blonde like you"

“She’s facing jail, Dani – do you really think she cares what a dumb blonde like you has to say?   You’ve had your money – it’s time to move on.”

Dani watches Eileen drive away

Malcolm walks away and Dani ponders on what she should do next as she watches Eileen drive away in the 4 x 4.

The garage is now unrecognisable

The inside of the garage has changed a great deal since we last saw it, with several large brewing vats.   A few villagers have gathered and Rhys addresses them.   

"The official launch of 'Ceffyl Du Beer'!"

“Can I have your attention please?   It’s a huge pleasure to welcome you to the official launch of ‘Ceffyl Du Beer’.   

"As a team . . ."

“As a team, we are very proud of what we’ve accomplished.”

"Team?   It's just him"

Mark comments to Mathew, “Team?   It’s just him.”

“I’m sure you’ll agree we’ve created something very special – 

"Here she is – our VIP!"

“and here she is, our VIP!” says Rhys, as Cassie arrives, 

Rhys has obviously made a lot of brewing progress

“It’s an honour to have you here.   Now we’ve created not one, not two, but three fresh and exciting beers that will wake up those senses!   If you would like to help yourself to the first one . . .”

Mark cannot wait to get hold of some

At this point, Mark rushes forward to be the first to get a drink, as Rhys goes on, “This one is full of life – sparky – 

"Some would even say it's sexy!"

“some would even say it’s sexy.”   Rhys looks at Cassie as he says this.

Mark does not know whether he should drink it or take it on a date.   Rhys takes a glass over to Cassie;  “I’m sure, I can rely on you for a sensible opinion – do you know what I see when I look at you?   

"A woman with taste"

“A woman who appreciates the good things in life – a woman with taste, unlike these clowns.”

Mark has finished his glass and goes back for the next;  

"Well, I'm a gin woman, but . . ."

Cassie remarks, “Well, I’m a gin woman, but it’s lovely.”   

"A special beer for a special woman"

Rhys describes it as a special beer for a special woman.

"What was that all about?"

When he goes to rejoin Mathew he is asked what that was all about;  “I want to see Ceffyl Du on the bar in the Deri,” is Rhys’ answer, 

"I'm bound to get a contract!"

“We know what Cassie’s like – a bit of flirting and I’m guaranteed to get a contract!”   Mathew has his doubts about this.

Dani gets back to number 7 . . .

Dani goes home to number 7, and marches into the kitchen;  she is in a furious mood 

. . . does some thinking . . .

but has to work out what she is going to do next.   

. . . and picks up the envelope of money

She takes the money from a drawer, looks at it then leaves the house again in a resolute manner.

"Ceffyl Du Beer . . ."

Back at the brewery, Rhys hopes that they will all agree that Ceffyl Du Beer 

". . . is a lot better than Cic Mul!"

is a lot better than Cic Mul.   They all applaud him and Mathew gets the impression that it has been a hit.   

"Nut has it been a hit with Cassie?"

“But has it been a hit with Cassie?” Rhys nervously demands.

Cassie has to return to the `Deri

She announces that Cheryl has almost finished her shift, so she must go back to the Deri;  “I was hoping we could come to some arrangement,” Rhys begins, “A chat in private, perhaps?”

"Come over to the Deri later"

Cassie invites him over to the Deri later and they will have a chat there.   He maintains that this could be the start of something special;  “You and me – the dream team!”

"What did I say?   A real pushover!"

After she has left he boasts to Mathew, “What did I say?   A real pushover – I’m guaranteed a contract!   It’s Cassie – 

"It's easy – too easy!"

“a flash of this smile and she’ll do anything – it’s easy!   Too easy, if anything.”

Cassie has ben listening to this

What Rhys does not know is that Cassie is only just outside and has been listening to what he said.

Dani arrives at Penrhewl

Eileen has returned to Penrhewl and has a visit from Dani;  “Malcolm Edwards – you can’t hire him!” she insists, 

"He took advantage of me"

“I know you’re under pressure, but you have to listen to me.   He took advantage of me – and not just me – there are more.   

"You can't trust him!"

“You can’t trust him.”

"Don't contact me again – do you understand?"

Cassie is on another angry phone call;  “If there’s any change, I’ll let you know,” she growls, “Don’t contact me again – do you understand?”

"It left a bitter taste"

Cheryl asks her about the beer, but she enigmatically replies that it left her with a bitter taste.   “You are a gin lady, aren’t you?”says Cheryl, 

Cheryl has done everything necessary

“Right, the fridge is full, tables are clean and the ladies’ has had a once-over.”

Cassie tells her to go home as she has done more than her share;  

"Was Mark at the brewery?"

Cheryl casually asks if Mark was at the brewery and assumes that his dodgy guts must be better.   

"He did look a bit pale"

Cassie says that he did look a bit pale, 

"He was supposed to be walking home with me"

and when Cheryl is going to call at the brewery to meet him, she is told that he has already gone home, which she finds surprising.

Rhys comes in

As Cheryl leaves, the cocky Rhys appears;  

"Let's talk somewhere more private"

Cassie wants to go somewhere more private, a table in the corner.

"You may have misled him"

“But you’d only just started working for him – “Perhaps, in an effort to impress him, you misled him.   I’m not saying it was intentional – but if Malcolm thought you were flirting with him, perhaps he started to flirt back.”

"Or `Malcolm thinks he can do whatever he likes"

Dani has a different opinion;  “Or Malcolm thinks he can do whatever he likes.”

"It's easy to give the wrong impression"

Eileen has to think up another argument;  “It’s easy to give the wrong impression – a smile across the office – a giggle over coffee.”

"So this is my fault?"

“So this is my fault?   I’ve given out the wrong signals – is that what you’re saying?” demands Dani.   Eileen stresses that if she did it was only accidentally.

"Siôn did some detailed research"

“Siôn did some detailed research before introducing me to Malcolm and I trust his opinion,” Eileen goes on, 

"Siôn doesn't know him like I do"

but Dani forcibly points out that Siôn does not know him like she does.

"You can't blame him"

“All I’m saying, love, is if a woman as pretty as you shows an interest – you can’t blame him,” insists Eileen.

The money is thrown down on the table

Dani takes out the envelope of money and throws it down on the table;  

"Money to keep me quiet!"

“How do you explain that?   Money to keep me quiet,” she demands.

"So I can't hire him, but you can accept his money?"

“Oh, so I can’t hire him, but you can accept his money?” Eileen shouts.   

"I want you to have the money!"

Dani says that she wants Eileen to have the money so that she can pay for a solicitor she can trust.   “Malcolm has a very good track record!” insists Eileen.

'what's wrong with you, Eileen?"

Dani demands, what is wrong with her but she is accused of overreacting;  “We’re arguing when we should be doing what’s right,” Dani replies.   

Eileen has nothing further to say

However, Eileen remains intransigent, so Dani picks up the money, but before flouncing out of the house, 

"If you hire Malcolm, I'm going to the police!"

warns, “If you hire Malcolm, I’m going to the police!”

"Don't do that – I need him!"

Eileen immediately begs her not to do that as she needs Malcolm;  

"No-one needs a man like that!"

Dani’s angry response is, “No-one needs a man like that – your choice!”   

Now Eileen is worried

Now Eileen is fearing the worst.

Mark peers round the kitchen door

When Cheryl arrives back at Maes-y-Deri, Mark peers round the kitchen door and she comments that he looks very perky, considering that he is ill.   He tells her that he feels better now 

"I'll go upstairs, out of your way . . ."

and she proposes to go upstairs out of his way;  “You obviously want space – you don’t want to eat with me 

". . . you wouldn't even walk home with me"

“or even walk home with me.”

He beckons to her

He replies that is because he has been busy and beckons her into the kitchen, 

He has a table full of food and drink

where she finds that he has prepared food for them, as well as several bottles of Wrexham lager.

“You’ve done all this for me?” she demands and he confirms that it is just for her.   “I should be treating you after all the hassle I’ve created,” she sighs, but he considers that to be all over now.   

"I really don't deserve this"

“I really don’t deserve this,” she says, so he intends to eat it all.   “No, I didn’t say that, did I?

Mark says they can watch that documentary later as well 

"Lager, madam?"

and opens a bottle of lager for her.

In the Deri, Rhys asks, “Do you want me to run through the details?”   

"You've made it perfectly clear what you want"

Cassie replies that he had made it perfectly clear what he wants – and she wants the same.

"When would you like to start?"

“I’m sure we can reach an agreement that will please us both,” she says, so he wonders when she would like to start.   “Tonight!” she replies, but he does not think he is ready.   

"You're not going to make me wait, are you?"

“You’re not going to make me wait, are you?”

He thought that she would be keen, but not this keen;  

"Right – your place or mine/'

“Right, where shall we go?   Your place or mine?” Cassie wants to know, “You know, anywhere that’s empty – we don’t want to get caught, do we?”

"Get caught?"

Rhys can see that things are getting out of hand now, as she enquires, “You’re not going to go all shy on me now, are you?   

"You've been flirting with me all afternoon"

“You made it clear what you want – you’ve been flirting with me all afternoon.”

Rhys finds his plan coming unstuck

He is finding this excruciatingly embarrassing, as intended;  she says, “Weak and pathetic – 

"What did you say I was?   A pushover?:"

“what did you say I was?   A pushover?   I was going to support you and have Ceffyl Du as a guest ale, but I heard every word!”

"It was only a bit of fun"

He tries to argue that it was just a bit of fun;  “But it isn’t fun, it?   I am a successful businesswoman – I deserve respect.   

"You obviously don't respect me"

“You obviously don’t respect me, talking about me like that.”

Rhys would like them to start again, and Cassie agrees, ‘The cellar hasn’t been cleaned for about two weeks – you can start there.   You heard me – do you want a contract or not?”   

Rhys has no choice by to comply . . .

He sadly heads towards the cellar 

. . . and Cassie hopes she has taught him a lesson

and Cassie looks rather pleased with herself.

There is a knock at the door of number 7 and Dani expects that it is Lleucu, coming for Gwern, 

"Oh – Eileen!"

but is surprised to see Eileen on the doorstep.   “Dani – you’re not going to the police – I mean it,” she snarls.

"Are you going to shoot me, like you did Howard?"

“What are you going to do?   Shoot me like you did, Howard?” Dani demands, 

"I just want to talk, Dani"

but apparently Eileen only wants to talk.   Dani is not in favour of that, arguing that Eileen does not know what it is like.

"That's where you're wrong"

“That’s where you’re wrong,” says Eileen.

They have enjoyed their viewing

At Maes-y-Deri, the documentary has ended and both Mark and Cheryl agree it was brilliant.   “You’re just saying that because Ryan Reynolds was in it,” Mark alleges, 

"A hopeless old relic"

and she comments that he is fit.

“They aren’t the only ones who’ve invested in a hopeless old relic,” he goes on, 

"You're much more that an old relic"

but Cheryl regards him as much more than an old relic and certainly not hopeless.  

"I was talking about you!"

“I was talking about you,” he jokes.

They kiss

“This is exactly what I needed after these last few weeks,” she tells him and they kiss.

Rhys has completed his hard labour

Mathew is at the bar when Rhys returns, reporting that the cellar is clean and orderly, so Mathew imagines that he has a new job.   

"It's nice to see a man working hard"

Cassie comments that it is nice to see a man working hard, but Mathew points out that he does not do that for everyone.

"The Deri Arms will have a new guest ale"

Now Cassie has an announcement to make;  “From next month, the Deri  Arms will have a new guest ale – congratulations, Rhys.”   

"I'm sorry, Cassie"

He apologises once again for what happened and she warns him never to let it happen again.   He is sure that she will not regret her decision 

"I'm going for a shower"

and is now going for a shower.

"What was that all about?"

Mathew wonders what that was all about and is told that it was a lesson in business and politeness;  “Well, it was a hard lesson by the looks of things,” Mathew says.

"I made my decision first thing this morning"

“I had already made my decision first thing this morning,” she says, and regards it as quite a success.

"I understand that you're angry, Dani"

“I understand you’re angry, Dani – you feel helpless, as if you have no control, because something like that stays with you.   You want him to know that he had no right to do what he did – walk all over you, but please, for Huwi’s sake –and the twins, don’t do this to me, please.”

"Were you at home?"

Dani asks whether she was at home when it happened and Eileen nods her head;  

"Someone you knew?"

Dani sits down, assuming that it was someone Eileen knew.

"John Deri Fawr!"

“John Deri Fawr!” Eileen snarls, “I still remember his breath, his hand squeezing – but Jaclyn hit him – we thought we’d killed him – and I felt guilty – not him – me!”

"It was his word against mine"

She did not go to the police, as it was his word against hers;  

"That's why we have to speak out"

Dani points out that is why they have to speak out about this – to force people to listen.   

"I want things to be better for Gabs and Seren"

“I want things to be better for Gabs and Seren – things have to change.”

“Do you think I don’t know that?   I’m with you 100%,” replies Eileen, 

"Why don't we go to the police together?"

so Dani proposes that they go to the police together.   

"After the court case – yeah?"

Eileen is adamant that they can go after the court case and cannot understand why Dani wants to do it now.

“You’ve waited this long,” Eileen points out, but is told that there will be something else by then;  one of the children will be ill, or life will be too busy.

"What if he targets someone else?"

“What if he targets someone else next week?  Or the week after that?   Would you be OK with that?” Dani demands.

"I'm talking about going to jail here!"

“Look, I’m talking about going to jail here – I’m talking about Huwi living without his mother, and not being there when Sioned has the twins,” insists Eileen, 

"You don't need Malcolm!"

but Dani still maintains she does not need Malcolm.

"Don't do this to me, please!"

“I do, because every other solicitor wants me to plead guilty – please, Dani!   Please, as one mother to another, don’t do this to me, please!”

Dani says nothing

Dani remains silent.
