Huwi is on the phone to his mother; “Mam, it’s me again –
". . . Sioned thinks she's having the babies!" |
“Sioned thinks she’s having the babies!”
"We're going straight to the hospital" |
DJ comes rushing in and says that they are going straight to the hospital,
"It's too late for that" |
but Sioned tells him that it is too late for that; she believes that the babies are coming. She has already phoned an ambulance which should be on its way. “I think they’ll have to be born here,” she concludes.
"We can't do that!" |
DJ points out they cannot do that, as she is consultant-led. “Of course they know that – I’ve said that I’ve got an ICD. if I was able to get in the car, I would be in it already! I can’t get hold of Mam, either.”
"I'll phone Dai and Diane" |
DJ proposes that he will phone Dai and Diane,
"I don't want Dai here!" |
but Sioned shouts, “I don’t want Dai here! What’s wrong with you?”
"They must think very highly of you" |
In the High Street, Megan is being interviewed by Radio Cymru; “The resident of Cwmderi have gone to a lot of trouble to celebrate your birthday – they must think very highly of you.” She is not so sure about that.
“You have lived in the village for over 50 years – how much has changed in that time?”
"Cwmderi has been a home to them all" |
She replies that so many people have come and gone over the years, but Cwmderi has been a home to them all.”
"It's nice to be celebrating a happy event" |
The interviewer points out that so much has happened in this village that it is nice to be celebrating a happy event and Megan is quick to agree with that.
"The community is as strong as ever" |
“The community in Cwmderi is as strong as ever – on to the next 50 years, I say.”
The interviewer thanks her and will let her get back to the dancing;
Megan is welcomed by the party-goers |
Iolo welcomes her back and the villagers appear to be having a good time. Watching from a corner, unseen by most of them, Garry is watching them
Seren notices her father . . . |
and Seren catches sight of him. She intends to run to him,
. . . but he warns her to keep quiet . . . |
but he motions to her to keep quiet and blows her a kiss,
. . . and then he is gone |
then disappears.
Gwern is also watching |
Gwern is also watching from a distance and Lleucu approaches with a bag, containing a bottle.
"Y Felin is empty – come on" |
She tells him that Y Felin is empty, and urges him to come with her.
Y Felin continues his account |
“Everything about the witness protection was true – and that's why I was in France until I heard it was safe to come back – if I wanted to,” explains Dyff, “And I did want to, but I wasn’t ready to face up to the fact that I’d deceived you.”
"Where were you when Ricky was in a coma?" |
“But you are ready now that Jean’s son is in a coma?” Kath says, sceptically. “Where were you when Ricky was in a coma?”
"Dan is like a son to me" |
Dyff replies that he did not know Ricky was ill, adding that, in some ways, Dan is like a son to him.
“Not the same as you, Mark,” he hastens to add.
"So you came back because of Dan" |
Mark accepts that he came back because of Dan. “Yes, but it’s not that simple –
"I'm back with you" |
“but I am pleased this has happened because I’m back with you.”
Kath inform him that Mark has been ill as well – and nearly died;
"I've had enough of his excuses!" |
“You didn’t come back for Mark or Ricky! It’s true – I’ve had enough of his excuses not to come back. if Jean McGurk’s son wasn’t in a coma, you would not have come back, would you?”
"But I came to the house, didn't I?" |
He rather lamely answers, “But I came to the house, didn’t I? Things changed when I heard Mark’s voice in the hospital – it was like an arrow to my heart! The memories flooded back – the life I had here – I missed it, I missed you.”
"And you chose Jean!" |
This makes no impression on Kath; she simply comments, “And you chose Jean!”
"Perhaps we can try to rebuild" |
Stacey knows how her mother feels – she has had a shock – it is a lot to take in, but perhaps they can try to rebuild.
Kath stresses that she has been betrayed; “All those lies!”
"We can move on from this, Mam" |
but Mark tends to support Stacey’s view that they can move on from this.
“He’s back – that’s what’s important,” he maintains, and Stacey is in tears,
"Us Joneses are supposed to stick together" |
but Kath’s reaction is, “Us Joneses, we’re supposed to stick together – does anybody remember that?”
"Get out of my sight, Stacey!" |
She orders Stacey to get out of her sight and, as she goes,
"It was Cassie – she knows, doesn't she?" |
Kath realises, “It was Cassie – she knows, doesn’t she? She was there in Tenerife – Cassie brought Jean’s ashes back –
"She knew all along" |
“she knew all along, didn't she?” Dyff remains silent.
Professional help has arrived |
At Penrhewl, medical assistance has arrived and Sioned is in the process of having the babies.
"I want it to stop!" |
She is holding DJ’s hand and shouting, “Mam, I can’'t do this! I want it to stop!”
"Breathe deeply, Sioned" |
She is instructed to breathe deeply.
“It isn’t right – I’m supposed to have a Caesarean – I should be in hospital!” Sioned protests. The midwife instructs her that it is important that she does not get agitated and at that point,
Diane hustles Huwi away |
Diane arrives, but quickly leaves again with Huwi, just as Sioned emits an ear-splitting scream.
"They shouldn't be here yet" |
She continues complaining that they should not be here yet, but is reassured that everything is looking good and the labour ward is on standby. Sioned feels the urge to push and apparently the head can be seen.
Sioned's plight continues |
With further screams and gulps of gas and air, we leave Penrhewl for the present.
Garry gains entry to number 7 . . . |
Garry creeps into the back door of number 7,
. . . cannot find Gwern . . . |
looks up the stairs and calls for Gwern;
. . . and leaves again |
there is no reply and the house is empty, so he immediately marches out again.
DJ is looking worried |
Sioned is in the throes of childbirth and DJ is looking particularly worried, but the first of the babies has been born.
"Is he all right?" |
Sioned anxiously asks “Is he all right?” The reply is that she is perfect.
"We've got a daughter!" |
Sioned laughs, “We’ve got a daughter!”
Sioned cradles her daughter |
and the little girl is handed to her; DJ welcomes his daughter to the world,
"Good job she doesn't look like me" |
commenting that it is a good job she does not look like him.
Sioned is now going to be taken to the hospital . . . |
The intention is to get Sioned to the hospital for the second baby to be born.
“I’ll text Dad to say that he’s a grandfather,” DJ says,
. . . while DJ phones Jason |
but decides that he had better phone Jason, as his father is useless with the phone.
Then there is a problem . . . |
Then Sioned has the feeling that the other baby is coming, so she hands over the first-born to her mother
. . . the second baby is on the way |
and the process begins again. They realise that it is too late to take her in to the hospital and advise her that she will be giving birth to the second one there.
"It doesn't feel right!" |
“I want to go to the hospital – that’s where I should be – it doesn’t feel right.”
"You're doing well, Sioned" |
She is assured that she is doing well and they are keeping an eye on the ECG readings and everything seems great.
Cassie is taking drinks outside . . . |
In the Deri, Mathew opens the door for Cassie, with her tray of drinks,
. . . when she notices . . . |
but on the way she notices
. . . the abandoned bag |
the bag that has been left by DJ. Mathew suspects that it may be down to one of the rugby lads and says he will take a look.
Mathw picks it up . . . |
He opens it up and underneath the clothing on top,
. . . and discovers its contents |
finds bundles of money, which he has a good idea are the proceeds of the robbery from APD.
He replaces it . . . |
He quickly closes the bag and replaces it where he found it,
. . . and waits in ambush |
then lies in wait for someone coming to retrieve it.
Gaynor and Tom arrive |
Gaynor and Tom arrive and find the place virtually deserted;
Do you think we'll live into our 80s?" |
“Do you think we’ll live into our 80s like Megan?” Tom asks, and Gaynor hopes not, as she does not want to live that long.
"Knitting and breaking wind?" |
“Being stuck in a chair, knitting and breaking wind every day?” she groans, but he regards growing old as an honour – despite the breaking wind.
"Watching Bargain Hunt every day!" |
“Imagine it - watching Bargain Hunt every day – what could be better?” he goes on and is about to kiss her, so she points out that they had better not.
"We can't hide for ever" |
He reminds her that they cannot hide for ever,
Cheryl catches them at it |
but as they do kiss, Cheryl comes in and looks at them.
"I'll see you outside" |
Tom thinks it wise to go outside, while Gaynor talks to her sister.
"That didn't take long" |
“You’re back together, are you? That didn’t take long,” Cheryl sneers.
"All I've tried to do is support you" |
Gaynor snarls, “All I’ve tried to do is be supportive of you through this – and you’ve done nothing but lie to me time and time again!”
"He deserves an Oscar" |
Cheryl says that Dave deserves an Oscar, as he has managed to twist Gaynor round his little finger. “Why don’t you want me to be happy?” Gaynor demands.
"Happy? I'm trying to protect you!" |
“Happy? I’m trying to protect you. I don’t want you to be with a monster!”
"He's not a monster with me" |
Gaynor is adamant that he is not a monster with her.
"That's what I used to think" |
“That’s what I used to think, too,” Cheryl sighs.
"Tom isn't anything like that" |
“Tom isn’t anything like the Dave you’re describing,” Gaynor insists.
"Just wait and see!" |
She is told to just wait and see.
DJ admires his new little girl . . . |
While DJ is looking at his new daughter,
. . . while Sioned is producing another one |
Sioned is still having problems delivering the second baby and is told by her mother that she is nearly there now – one more push and it will be over.
This time it is a boy |
“There we are, he’s arrived!” announces the midwife.
'we did it – one each!" |
“DJ, we did it – one each!” Sioned shouts and is concerned about the baby, but is told that he is just a little lazier than his sister. “Why isn’t he crying?” she panics;
"He's had a shock" |
DJ imagines that he has had a shock, coming into the world.
Then their fears are dispelled, as the baby gives a lusty cry.
A moment of bliss |
Sioned is advised that all three of them are being taken to the labour ward to check that everything is OK. Eileen will go and fetch Huwi-John to see them before they go to the hospital.
"They're so perfect!" |
“They’re perfect,” says Sioned, “We’re so lucky!”
DJ even gets a kiss |
and she and DJ briefly kiss – for the first time in a very long while.
"I'm letting you win" |
Lleucu and Gwern are playing a computer game at Y Felin, where she boasts that is hammering him, but he insists that he is letting her win.
Siôn is home early . . . |
Then the door opens and Siôn comes in, immediately noticing the bottle on the table.
. . . which they find disconcerting |
He says that he has a headache
"Really?" |
and is very disappointed that they are drinking, although Lleucu is adamant that they did not drink much – and there is some left, if Siôn would like it.
Gwern beats a hasty retreat |
He thinks it best if Gwern went home.
"I'll text you" |
As he goes out of the door, Gwern asks, “Meet me later on? I’ll find somewhere and I’ll text you.”
"They're very small" |
Huwi is brought in to meet the new twins and remarks that they are very small.
One for the family album |
Diane asks the midwife if she will take a couple of photos of them.
"Thanks for your help, Gaynor" |
As they do the clearing up, Cassie thanks Gaynor for her help; she says that she is happy to help and wonders where Kath and Mark went. Cassie has tried phoning, but with no answer.
Eleri approaches Jinx |
Eleri comes across the road, asking Jinx when he will be clocking off for the day. “After I finish clearing up,” he replies.
"Do you fancy going to Swansea?" |
“Do you fancy going to Swansea? I've been invited to a bar opening,” she tells him.
"You do know that Dani and I . . ." |
He points out to her that he and Dani . . . but she already knows about that
"Just think about it" |
and tells him, “Just think about it.”
Jason removes the bunting |
Jason is taking down the bunting when his phone sounds
He see the photo of the new arrivals |
and he sees the photo of the new arrivals.
"Oh, DJ . . ." |
A moment later a voicemail arrives from DJ, so he listens to it.
". . . you idiot!" |
Upon hearing that all the money has been left in the Deri, Jason groans, “You idiot, DJ!”
Now Garry is at Y Felin |
The door of Y Felin opens and in comes Garry;
Siôn gets a surprise |
Siôn is just walking downstairs and is surprised to see him standing there
"Where's Gwern?" |
and demanding, “Where’s Gwern?”
"I've only got one pair of hands!" |
Cheryl is in the middle of sorting out empty glasses when Iolo asks for a couple of pints; “I’ve only got one pair of hands!” she snaps, so he tells her to forget it.
"My feet are killing me!" |
Cassie is going upstairs to change her shoes, as her feet are killing her.
"Iolo didn't deserve that!" |
“Iolo didn’t deserve that!” Gaynor reprimands her sister, who asks whether she always puts men first.
"You're always willing to give them the benefit of the doubt" |
“You’re always willing to give them the benefit of the doubt. I opened my heart to you about what happened between Dave and me – and you said that you believed me.
"I regret that we found each other" |
“I thought I could trust you, Gaynor – coming here to find you was a mistake. I regret that we found each other.”
Jason sneaks in and gets the bag |
Jason comes in and after looking around, picks up the bag;
"I knew I was right!" |
Mathew appears from his hiding place and declares, “I knew it! I knew I was right! I know exactly what’s in the bag –
"I'm going straight to the police!" |
“I’ve caught you and I’m going straight to the police.”
“I’ve had enough – keep your money!” growls Jason,
"If you want to know what happened, ask DJ" |
“If you want to know what happened, ask DJ!” and he immediately walks out, with Matthew in pursuit.
"Where's Cassie?" |
The next one to come in is Kath, who is eager to see Cassie, so is directed upstairs by Gaynor, who is just taking empty glasses to be washed. The rest of the customers in the Deri are leaving, including Eleri.
Cassie is thinking |
Upstairs, Cassie is deep in thought
She is confronted by Kath . . . |
when Kath bursts in and looks accusingly at her.
Jinx closes the van doors |
Outside, Jinx closes the back door of Iolo’s van;
"I wasn't thinking straight!" |
Jason and Mathew march down the High Street, with Jason protesting, “I wasn’t thinking straight!” Mathew insists that is his problem.
"Have you seen Mam?" |
Mark and his father are searching for Kath
A huge explosion shakes the village |
when suddenly there is a huge explosion in the Deri;
It bowls over Jason . . . |
they all pick themselves up
. . . shocks Mathew . . . |
and look with horror at the shattered building.
. . . and horrifies Mark |
