Tom shouts for Cheryl and Gaynor |
Now Tom has joined them at the front of the Deri. He shouts for both Gaynor and Cheryl; Mark tells him that it is impossible to get in that way.
"They said not to go inside" |

"Dyff – what the hell?" |
“Dyff!” he gasps, “What the hell?”
At Y Felin, Siôn demands why Garry is there,
"I just want to know where Gwern is!" |

"There's been an explosion in Cwmderi!" |
Lleucu comes running downstairs to tell Siôn there has been an explosion in Cwmderi; “I’m trying to get hold of Dad, but he’s not answering!” She suddenly becomes aware of someone sitting there.
"Lleucu, yeah? Where's Gwern?" |
“Lleucu – yeah? Where’s Gwern?” snarls Garry.
"He was here earlier" |
She says that he was there earlier but has now gone. “Phone him – tell him you want to meet now!” she is ordered, but Sin tells her not to do this.
"I want you to leave – or I'm calling the police!" |
I want you to leave – or I’m calling the police!” he warns Garry,
Garry collects the cheese knife |
who calmly walks across the table and picks up a knife from the cheeseboard, which he brandishes in front of them.
"No-one's calling the police!" |
“No-one’s calling the police – phone Gwern!” Siôn urges him to put the knife down, as he is scaring Lleucu and will make things a lot worse.
"Shut it, Siôn!" |
Garry’s response is, “Shut it! Phone him and put it on loudspeaker – don’t tell him I’m here!” Lleucu has little choice but to obey.
The Deri flat is in rather a mess |
The Deri flat has suffered considerable damage and Cassie has found that it is impossible to escape because the stairs have gone.
"It may have been gas" |
Kath wonders what on earth has happened, with Cassie suspecting that it may have been gas; there is a lot of smoke but does not appear to be any flames.
Kath complains that she cannot hear properly
"There's glass everywhere" |
and is warned to watch where she is walking as there is glass everywhere.
"Hey, we're here!" |

They explain that they cannot get out as the stairs have collapsed and are told that the emergency services are on the way.
"Is Cheryl in there – or Gaynor?" |
“Is Cheryl in there with you – or Gaynor?” shouts Mark, but Kath confirms that only the two of them are up there.
Mark will go and look for a ladder to get them down, but Kath forbids that;
"You stay where you are" |
“You stay where you are – I don’t want you to get hurt. We’ll stay here until the fire service comes, OK?”
"I can't contact Dad" |
Amidst the wreckage on the High Street, Iolo is unable to contact his father, so Cai will see if he can get hold of Lleucu,
He listens and hears Garry's voice |
but then discovers a voicemail from her, which he listens to.
They listen with concern |
She had been clever enough to turn on her phone when she encountered Garry, so they listen to his voice, saying, “Lleucu – yeah? Where’s Gwern?” and come to the realisation that it is Garry..
"That's not possible!" |
“He’s supposed to be in prison – that’s not possible!” Iolo gasps; Cai is going straight to Y Felin and Iolo will go with him.

"It wasn't my place to say, Kath" |
Up in the flat, Cassie tells Kath that it was not her place to say,
"Why didn't you tell me?" |
but Kath demands, “Why didn’t you tell me when you brought Jean’s ashes back to the village? Why didn’t you tell me then?”
"It wasn't my place" |
Once again, Cassie maintains that it was not her place;
"I thought you were a friend" |
“I thought you were a friend,” Kath sighs.
Cassie asks what she would have done if she was told.
"Would you have gone to Tenerife?" |
“Would you have gone to Tenerife and expected a welcome?” Kath does not know what she would have done,
"I didn't get the chance, did I?" |
but she did not get the chance.
"Is my marriage to Brynmor unlawful now?" |
“And why didn’t you tell me before I married Brynmor? Is that unlawful now?
"Am I a bigamist or what?" |
“Am I a bigamist or what?”
"You have a death certificate" |
Cassie points out that she cannot be a bigamist, as she has a death certificate.
"Sipping Piña Coladas on the beach" |
“Yes, for a swine who was sipping piña coladas on the beach in Spain! What sort of certificate is that?”
"The police dealt with all that" |
It is explained to her that the police made sure all the legal components were covered.
"You know everything, don't you?" |
“For goodness sake – you know everything, don’t you? You know the whole lot from the very start!” Cassie replies that she knows what Dyff has done to Kath and the family is terrible –
"It was his choice" |
but it was his choice.
“OK, and what about your choice, Cassie? You decided to take Dyff’s side, didn't you?”
"I did it for Jean – not for him!" |
“I did it for Jean, for God’s sake!” Cassie exclaims, “Not for him. I promised I wouldn’t tell anyone. I know you’re hurt because he got back with Jean.”

. . . but his phone has been left as well |
but Siôn’s phone has also been discarded on a chair.
They realise that things have taken a very serious turn
"Right – Dani first, then the police" |
and Cai suggests that they can phone Dani, to see if Gwern is there; “Then we phone the police.”
"Dyff and Jean – were they happy?" |
Back in the Deri flat, Kath asks, “Were they happy? Dyff and Jean – were they happy?” Cassie wonders why she is asking.
"Because I want to know" |
“Because I want to know.”
"Yes, I think the were" |
Cassie believes that they were.

"Dyff didn't have the guts to come back" |
“I don’t think Dyff had the guts to come back to you – he had deceived you in the most horrendous way – and it was easier for him to stay with Jean.”
"And he was getting bulletins from home?" |
Kath assumes that he was getting bulletins about what was happening at home – what his family were up to back in Cwmderi.
"Why are you doing this to yourself?" |
Cassie cannot understand why she is doing this to herself. “Tell me, Cassie!”
Gwern has found the ideal spot . . . |

"I'm worried about you, Gwern" |
Garry, still menacingly wielding the knife, tells Gwern that he is worried about him. “I’m all right,” the boy replies, but his father reminds him that he has been in jail, which is not all right.
"I don't want you to go down the same path" |
“I just don’t want you to go down the same path as I did,” Garry goes on,
"I'm not going to do that!" |
but Gwern simply laughs that he is not going to do that. “And I want to be a father to you – if you’d only give me the chance.”
"How are you going to manage that?" |
“But you’re in jail, Dad, how are you going to manage that?”
"Garry – Gwern doesn't want this!" |
Siôn protests that Gwern obviously does not want this.
“Shut it, Siôn – or I’ll do it for you!” Garry threatens, then turns back to his son.
"Everything I've done is for you and Seren" |
“Everything I’ve done, I’ve done for you and Seren – the family –
"So you have better opportunities than me" |
“so that you have better opportunities than I had – so that you don’t have to face the same choices.”
"I would never make the same choices as you!" |
Gwern answers that he would never make the same choices as his father; “Look at you – you are choosing to threaten us with a knife!”
"I was desperate totally to you" |
Garry explains that he was desperate to talk to Gwern.
"Now you have done that, so go, please!" |
“Well, you have done now, so go, please!” Again Siôn intervenes, pointing out that Garry is going to make things a lot worse for himself,
"One more word from you and I'll use this!" |
“One more word from you and I’ll use this!” Garry promises, pointing the knife.

Ffion wonders whether this is the knock on the head talking, but he confirms that he has felt like that for a long time.

"I'm so sorry about what I said earlier" |
Cheryl says, “I’m so sorry about what I said earlier – that I regret we found each other. The truth is, I don’t know where I’d be without you. It just came out in the heat of the moment, you know.”
"That doesn't surprise me" |
“Yeah, that doesn’t surprise me,” Gaynor replies, “You were toxic – you and Tom.”
